I was having a potentially severe issue with my new pool/spa that was part of new construction. The pool builder sent two guys over to check it out and they came up with a kludge for the issue that had to have been deliberately dishonest. Wanting an independent unbiased assessement of the issue, this fine estabishment sent Eric (hope I have his name right!) over, who for an affordable consult fee checked and explained all to me. He confirmed there was a potentially serrious installation problem. Armed with this knowledge I was able to go back to the pool builder, who then took me very seriously! They sent a very qualified fellow over who spent over an hour diagnosing and we think correcting the problem. Thanks Eric and Pinch a Penny!

SCAMMERS. I had a leak close to the pump and inquired service to have it fixed. HUGE mistake. Do yourself a favor a go elsewhere.Full story: A couple of their technicians showed up unannounced 3 HOURS earlier at the time I had a delivery scheduled. They had a VERY unprofessional attitude, I asked them to give me 5mins while I wrapped up the delivery and they told me "do you want service or not?" First red flag I should have told them to leave then and there. They asked me which side was the pool pump on "this side or this other side" they shouted. I pointed them to it while I worked on the delivery. Of course the pump wouldn't run I had the breaker off. They told me the whole system needed replacement and I told them the system was working fine and I just needed to turn on the breaker so I did. I pointed them to the leak I needed fixed they ignored me and this neanderthals proceeded to hammer the motor with a hedge hammer 🔨 UNBELIEVABLE. They tell me the motor need it replacement (it did not) they told me timer needed replacement (it did not) and quoted me $1000+ to have it all fixed. I told them they had very expensive ideas and asked them to quote me the leak fix that I inquired about they replied "we are the cheapest there is and we have been doing this for a long time this is what needs to be done" fat chance that. They said "$250 without accounting for service". I told them thanks and asked to leave to which they replied "most companies wouldn't even bother to show up for under $250" and I told them "thank you for showing up ". I inquired with a handyman and they fixed the leak for $100 the same day. Guess what? Everything is working fine now. Be aware of this scammers and vote with your wallet by using other pool stores/services.Edit: To their reply: It seems I will have to take them to court if it is true that their employees are trespassing my property without my permission. Good thing I have cameras on :)

Didn't realize how much of a go-to team of professionals Pinch A Penny would be. However, that's exactly what my customer experience has been repeatedly. It's a no-brainer who to contact when I have pool or spa issues. Some of the friendliest, professional people I have met since I have required services. I do not hesitate to ask for help. I highly recommend their services, wouldn't waste time on a 5 star rating if it were not absolutely earned or deserved. I am a deeply satisfied customer and I greatly appreciate their work effort! Excellent top notch technicians, and highly reliable staff. Thanks again!

So I “used” to go to this store. I bought a pro series pool net from them today. Come to find out the net was not fine enough to get everything out of the pool when cleaning it. I went back to the store to exchange it for a better one. The clerk said he didn’t think he could help me since it has been used. He went back in the employee section to ask and someone told him they would not let me exchange it for a better one. Their reason it has been used! Really I made one swipe in the pool and could tell it wasn’t right. So I told them that they were willing to lose a customer who has spent a good deal of money there for a $28.99 net. Congrats you all are freaking idiots!!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE!!! Nice skinny jeans by way pal.

This pinch a penny location is awesome! All of the staff are super helpful! I’ve always been very satisfied with my experience here, they are very personable and most of the staff usually remember me even though I’m only in once a month, if that, for chemicals. Never thought about writing a review before but I am over the moon! I was out of town and then got sick and thought I really screwed up the pool, had black algae 😳 and I went in and they set me up with the miracle solution! My pool is back to normal in only 2 days! They know their stuff! So helpful for a pool dummy as myself! Im just so excited that I have my pool back to normal so quick and wanted to give this group credit for my excitement!

Guys were great and extremely helpful. Visited after hurricane and they were fantastic! Store was packed, yet they took time to assist each customer with kindness! I was also impressed that they limited selling product! One guy wanted to purchase 4 jugs of chemical and they told him (very nicely) sorry, others need it too. Very well run!!!

Testing is good but I was in line with bags of salt the clerk sold them to the first customer in line while I was holding them , is that the way you do business?? You’ve lost me taking an item out of my hands and giving it to someone up the line because he couldn’t bring it up , then your staff should have gone and picked it up brought it to the register for the person before checking him out. I should have said too bad I’m holding them refund his money, but you associate was very adamant that they could not be mine Call you no. But tell others what happened yes

First time there and I was surprised by the laid back but knowledgeable guy who helped me out. He helped me fix and update my old pool filter system instead of trying to Selle on getting a new one. He also did the free water test on my pool and told me how to take care of the pool for the future.

I recently had an issue with my pool pump. I had a service person from pinch a penny come and check it out. I fully expected to have to replace the pump. Turned out it was a small gasket on the pump drain that was sucking air. The technician could have ripped me off for a new pump and I would not have known the difference. Instead, he was honest and just replaced the gasket. He didn't even charge for the call. Thanks for your honesty and great service.

Unfortunately I found out the hard way that this company's pool service is absolutely the worst I ever had. Technician does not show up. If he does, he does not brush or clean the pool. I made a surprise visit and the pool was covered w algae. I called the company, spoke w ron and jeremy. They both said they would take care of it or replace Justin, the technician. After no improvement, I left 3 messages, of course, they were always busy and they did not even have the courtesy to return my call. I have pictures of the algae, which I showed to them. Please save your time, and protect your pool. Do not hire this company.

I always receive excellent customer service from all the staff. Today, I had the pleasure of being helped by Jeremy. He explained everything my pool needed in detail to me. His customer service skills were outstanding. Thank you to all the staff for making it a pleasure to go shopping at your store.

These people at the englewood store must hate their jobs because I have been going in there for three years and never seen one of them smile. Their prices are ridiculous. I bought a pool pole their not to long ago. This is my third one. Therefore, I bought the best one this time because I was tired of buying them. Forty-nine dollars and a few months later, it broke too. I told the salesman about it and basically all I got in return was a grunt. I've decided to go elsewhere also. The products will probably be pretty much the same, but I believe the prices and the attitudes will be better. The store's staff in Port Charlotte is at least friendly. It makes the prices sting less anyway. My suggestion for someone buying pool supplies, support another local business. This store obviously doesn't need your buisness or they would at least smile as they were over charging you.

I contacted Pinch A Penny to give me a professional recommendation on my pool filtration and heating setup. Jessey came over and showed me an innovative way to replumb my system to make it more cost-effective and efficient. Jessey and Jared did a total replumb that works great, looks great and was reasonably priced. These guys went above and beyond and I am totally happy with the results.

I've visited this place quite a few times and everytime I go, I find the customer service to be sub par....very condecending. At first, I shrugged it off as an employee having a bad day but, I noticed that every other time I've gone, its the same treatment. I went once where the guy was nice but that was it. I only started coming here because Pool Sharks stopped selling pool products. This place could take a lesson or two from them. After this last time going, I'll find another store where they treat their customers better.

I was a customer of this shop since 2008. They are higher priced than a lot of their competitors but I have always believed in patronizing local businesses and even though I could have bought my supplies cheaper elsewhere I chose to shop there.Over the years I bought a pool cleaning zodiac, nets, filters and all manner of chemicals. They replaced my pool timer and did a number of minor repairs. I am a seasonal owner and a couple of years ago I switched over to Pinch a Penny for my pool servicing needs while we were away in the summer months, even though they were $20 a month more expensive than the competition. All went well until this past summer. Our next door neighbours are full time residents and keep an eye on our place when we are not here (like many winter residents we rely on them to be our eyes and ears). They check the house regularly and ensure that the landscapers keep our yard looking good and that our pool is maintained as contracted. In the middle of the summer we received a distressing email from our neighbours. They happened to notice the Pinch a Penny Truck in our driveway and since they were do to check the house anyway, they waited till the tech had left and went over to check the house and pool. The pictures they took showed a very dirty pool and drain basket. Dead frogs in the pool and basket and other debris on the bottom. My wife sent the Pinch a Penny owners a very non-threatening, polite email with the pictures and asking for an opportunity to discuss the issue. Keep in mind we had never complained about anything and our relationship with both Rich and Bobbi had always been good. What we received in return can be best described as a "rant" by Bobbi. She criticized our neighbours for "spying" on her technician, said she was tired of noisy neighbours, and claimed that she had checked the GPS in the Tech's truck and said he had been at our address for a full 15 minutes. She never bothered to address the pictures provided by our neighbours nor did she bother to talk to the Tech. After berating my wife she told us she was sick of our complaints (we had never complained about anything in 8 years as a customer) and that she was "firing" us as customers. After an 8 year relationship in which we had spent thousands of dollars with their company I expected better than that. As someone who worked as an executive in commercial finance for 30+ years and dealt with the general public I was appalled at the way we were summarily dismissed without any discussion.A sad way to end what had been a mutually beneficial relationship.

Pinch a Penny is family owned, therefore, when there was a complaint about a member not doing their job, there was difficulty getting someone out to complete the service. Almost as if blackballed for reporting poor service. After several calls and promises, which customers should not have to do, the part owner, Jeremy was very rude and talked down to me, as if a child. I ended up cancelling the service after 2 years, and 8 phone calls wondering why service was not completed. The customer service used to be A-1, now it is below par.

Over priced for everything in the store. I paid 12 dollars for 2 diaphragms for my pool vacuum on Amazon. Then wanted 75 dollars for 1 of the same part.

Needed a small part for a pool cleaner I purchased from them less than a year ago, only to find out after I drive there that the price for the same part anywhere else including Walmart is 19.00 max and they wanted 48.00. I show them the pricing from their competitors and they could care less. They didn't care at all to lose a customer that has bought high ticket items over the years from them. My guess is they can afford to lose customers when they rip people off with high prices and bad customer service. Good bye Pinch a Penny!! You should change your name.
