Walked in on Wednesday to get some information and happened to meet the sweetest dog, Scooby is the perfect addition to our family and was very well taken care of at the shelter. He is naturally skittish but wasted no time getting to know us. The awesome staff at the shelter helped us introduce him to our previous dogs and made sure everything went smoothly our first day.

My sincerest thank you to the incredible men and women of Walton County Animal Shelter for the phenomenal care “Bull” received prior to his adoption. NEVER did I expect such comprehensive veterinary care and documentation from a rescue. Their compassion for these animals shined in every action and conversation from start to finish. I am thrilled to share that “Bull” has brought so much joy to me and my family-including my grandmother who suffers with dementia. After seeing the natural connection he made with her, I have decided to enroll him in a formal ESA training program so we can continue helping her and many others.Thank you,Christina, Tim, & “Bull”

I adopted a puppy. Right away. He is the most loving and great full. He is a sweetheart. I never will buy a dog. Rescue is the best feeling for both. I love him dearly. Makes me happy to have him. All my 3 are rescued. This was easy to do. Puppy is well taking care by the care that Walton providers. I trully had the intentions to take one home. Only took less than 20 minutes. Was not over priced like Alaqua. We paid 211.00 for one dog that went back. He was terrible not potty trained. This puppy is a joy. He do not tear nothing up. The other destroyed all furniture rugs and whatever he could find. My beautiful puppy is just such intelligent puppy. Only have to say no once and he won’t do it. I got 3 dog bowls and always will have 3. My oldest is 14 years old then there is velvet. Velvet is 2 in June. And baby is 5 months old. I encourage anybody is not the breed that matters. Is the dog I self care hat will fill your heart with gladness. Some dogs are spoiled , entitled and have a convenience issue. Shelter dogs know better. They are loving, they know who got them out of that cell. He is never caged. In my pet grooming business he roam the shop. He was caged long enough. He has play toys balls and bones to chew those growing teeth. He is all I needed. His love is the greatest.

This shelter is scrupulously clean and always looks ans smells great. Patty W is the most amazing person. She clearly cares so much for the animals housed there. Please adopt from here. I rescue from here occasionally and have always been offered help. Please support local shelters.

My mother adopted a sweet dog from the shelter, the paperwork says that she is sterilized. She is in fact not sterilized and currently in heat and I just paid $140 for the vet to tell me that. You have some explaining to do Walton county animal shelter.

There is this one worker who is rude and uncaring. She looks at her phone more than anything else and has a very agitated personality. Then she has a bad temper which idk what else to do with this cat. I wanted it to find a home. But because idk where to put the cat in my car she walked over to me in aggravation and said “give that to me” while grabbing onto the cats back of its neck snatching it from me. I am ticked off. And hate to see an animal treated that way. Yes I came near closing time I admit. But I can’t control my hours. Everyone else is friendly but that one girl.

After a dementia diagnosis I had to bring 2 of our cats in. I was extremely upset and it's not a choice I had. The staff was cold and almost rude. I imagine surrendering pets is frustrating. However, it wasn't my choice. It was difficult for me and the lack of compassion was hard.

A great shelter that helps to care for injured strays and works to get them into rescue. We recently rescued Bo after he was hit by a car.

Found a very old dog at the local lake yard with no tags, appeared to be blind and shaking from being wet. I basically got yelled at by the disgruntled lady that was working for coming in early and accused of being one of "those people" that drop off too many dogs...all this while previously speaking to someone on the phone who asked me to bring it to the office because no animal control was available. This was my first and last time that I will go to this shelter. I'd suggest to just wait for animal control if you find an animal in need.

Great place. I had an emergency today. A dog was hit in front of me and the person just took off. I called Walton County animal shelter and they went ABOVE and BEYOND helping me. I am new to the area and the lady there stayed on the phone with me until I got there. They were so helpful!! Can't praise them enough.

Very clean and fresh. The staff is very friendly and helpful. All of the animals were well cared for. They all have beds ( cots) so they don't have to lay on the concrete floor, and food and fresh water. They also have a nice big play area. There was a dog running with a ball in its mouth and wagging it's tail. Looked like he/she was playing with the person who was out there!

Clean facility, kind and knowledgeable volunteers. We were shown back within minutes and the volunteers explained the situation of each animals and were able to recommend a possible fit in minutes. It didn't work out as my dog didn't get along with the two possible pups but I was very impressed with their process and their reasonable fees. The only downside is that it is not a no-kill shelter so PLEASE drop by and adopt a sweet pup or kitty today!

Are big dog got out, again! Since we weren't home, the puppy police picked him up and put him in puppy prison. They were closed Monday, so we nailed him out Tuesday.They were very nice. Since he gets violently car sick, he needed a rabies shot. They took care of another vet need and I paid to have him microchipped.Nice people, nice place. They really do care. I had to get a ticket since he got out before, a lot, they had to issue one. But the officer was very kind and almost sad he had to write one.

Got my dog in December from them, blonde lady up front was nice and let us meet the dog we wanted before we filled out the application, it said he was good with dogs, and good which children (which was good bc I was 8 months pregnant at he time) we fell in love, I get there to pick him up and take him home for the old lady up front to take one look at my stomach and very rudely told me that they don’t know how he is with kids, so I asked why the website said he was good with them and she couldn’t give me an answer to that question, long story short he’s a sweetheart and very well behaved and he is great with our newborn he’s always laying around the crib and going to him when he cries.however he is scared of men and thinks that there gonna hit him.

Animals are in good condition and healthy, also up to date on shots. The staff was very helpful! We got a puppy for my little boy’s 6 birthday. So excited!! He will be a very loved part of the family!

We adopted Miss Coco in October of 2016 and I just wanted everyone to know she is doing well and is such a delight. The staff and volunteers were great. I do have to say that the wait for her to be spayed was hardon us - almost two weeks from the day we met her. Keep up the goodwork guys. Miss Coco is truly loved by her new family. Connie

The Walton county animal shelter is very clean and organized. The people are very compassionate and friendly. The adoption rate at $50 is about the cheapest I've come across.

We have adopted two cats from this shelter and both have been great cats. Had no issues adopting them as we went to the adoption events away from the shelter. I recommend dealing with the fosters of the animals as opposed to the shelter staff. We have always had great service going to the shelter until these last two times. The leader/supervisor treated us like we were stupid and was very rude. This last time my wife brought some stray kittens there to be looked after and then adopted. She was treated like she was trash and the lady best be glad that I was not with my wife. Sparks would have flown. Maybe the Sherriff needs to do some changing of some staff members. Let make this clear that not all the staff are this way. The only time we get treated this way is dealing with the main supervisor.
