Best fish, Best view, Best VibeDidn't want to leave this place.Left full and satisfied.Fish as fresh as it comes!Oysters were amazing, Stone Crab Claws were delectable drenched in lemon butter, Smoked Mullet was to another level, and the scallops were tender and delicious!The broccoli was prepared with butter and garlic......so good 👍The slaw had a twist with pineapple 🍍 overtones.....juries still out on the slaw.The cheesy grits were a bit gritty.....maybe undercooked? And the flavor needed elevated.....The atmosphere was dreamy.....influx of beautiful birds, boats, and fishermen.This place makes me happy! 😊

Quaint shop in the heart of Cortez Village. Check it out on your way to the beach! Starfish serves Local fresh seafood that is so good.The chowder was flavorful; the hush puppies were soft and crispy, and the grouper sandwich was flaky and delicious. The only seating is outside on a few picnic tables.They also have a great fresh fish market with lots of local fish caught that morning and never frozen.Check out the stone crab available on the walkway.Each large claw was $3 or $4-absolutely the best prices in the area.

Don’t expect a maître D or white tablecloth service but without a doubt, this will be a meal that you remember for a lifetime.The place has been around since 1923 and the line goes around the corner to get in. We waited for over 45 minutes just to put in our order. It was worth every minute and I will be back maybe not tomorrow but within the week.I ordered the fish tacos with the cheese grits, and the spicy sauce was perfect with the fried grouper. You could taste the freshness. I also splurged and had a bowl of their stone crab chowder One of the best I’ve had in a really long time.My husband ordered the swordfish with hush puppies and sweet potato waffle fries. Although swordfish is not my favorite, I did try it bite and it was fresh and cooked to perfection. According to my husband he would definitely order it again. While you’re waiting for your food you could look out into the harbor at the fishing boats, the pelicans Playing on the dock, and the boats out at sea. Make this a day trip.

What can I say that hasn't already been said a hundred times : great seafood, as fresh as possible and prepared perfectly! The atmosphere is laid back and casual, this is authentic old Florida and it can't be beat. Also, the market is awesome and they're very helpful in getting you what you need to make your own seafood feast at home. Can't say enough - we love it!

Funky old school fish restaurant. You can't get any fresher than this when you are 30 ft from the water and the fishing boats. Nothing fancy here, just good fresh food. It's first come first serve here, if you can find a table because they are always busy. The calamari was incredible, so much flavor. The peel and eat shrimp order, must have at least 16 shrimp. You are on Cortez time and it's slow food but so worth the wait! 🐠🐟🍤 I can't wait to go back and try the scallops.

Every time we are in this area of FL we have to visit this place. The freshest sea food you can get! This time I had Conch Fritters and Grouper Tacos. Excellent!Dining al fresco on the pier, surrounded with fishing boats and pelicans- is a unique touch.Till next time!… Make sure to have cash, since this place is cash only (they have an ATM right there if you need it).

Busy place. Only outside seating but mostly under cover. The food was great. Birds galore waiting for a handout. They also serve beer. It's a fishing village so it's a little briny smelling!

Delicious food! Great atmosphere! Loved the shrimp, scallops, fries, and sangria drink! Yum! Nice staff! Cutest birds! The line/wait wasn't to long when we went, but I heard there always is one. Only outdoor seating, loved sitting on the deck!

We were in for vacation and heard that this was the best place in town. Well that’s a fact! My family tried several different things from the menu it all was prepared perfectly. I had the combo platter all 4 seafood dishes were great probably the best sea scallops I’ve ever eaten. My son-in-law‘s grouper sandwich was great. The pecan chicken and chicken strips were also very good. The salmon was very good but could have used a little bit more seasoning but overall she gave it 8 out of 10. They were very busy but managed to have 9 people’s food done in 15 minutes. IT’s and old school establishment eating out on the docks behind the fishing boats.It doesn’t get any fresher than that highly recommended this place.

Very good Grouper Sandwich...Grouper Nuggets...those hushpuppies though Very cool laid-back local fish market and restaurant.Seems like a more locals place, but one that welcomes new folks too so don't be intimidated if your on vacation...its a very cool place.

Although they were out of the pompano fish that I ordered, we loved it. They give you a lot of food, we had enough to bring home for a second meal. I ended up getting the mullet and my husband had the sword fish and both were delicious, not fishy tasting at all. We sat out on the dock and ate by candle light which was fun! You'll probably have a wait, but worth it!

I & 2 co-workers stopped here for dinner after a sunset walk on the gulf. The food was REAL good. I got the small portion of sautéed scallops & it was very generous. My co-workers got the larger portions that included 2 sides & they could barely finish their meal.The fried oysters were good, too.The staff was good & friendly BUT this is cash only!

After reading all of the reviews, I had to come here and see if it was worth all the hype I had seen online. I was recently in Florida, and despite waiting in line 1 hour to place my order, I was not disappointed at all. The scallops were huge, juicy fresh, and delicious. The side dishes were also fantastic.

If you are not there before it opens, plan on being in line up to an hour. With the beautiful surroundings and friendly people all around, it goes fast. Note, it is spring break. That may have impacted some, but I've been here several times, and it was always a line, if you weren't early. The food is delicious! There's a generous portion of everything. There's quite a seafood variety to choose from. Outdoor seating, native Florida views. It's a wonderful experience.. worth repeating.

You can't find fresher seafood anywhere. It sounds crazy but eating on picnic tables and being served in a box was wonderful. Great, affordable food in a perfect working waterfront environment will be most memorable.

Fair prices.Highlights: fried oysters, fried grouper, and the hush puppies omg.Kitchen closes at 8pm but you can hang around a bit after that and have some beers and finish your food.Note: not a lot of boat parking. Best to drive vs. dock & dine.CASH ONLY

The vibe was fantastic in the historic village of Cortez. The hush puppies and cheese grits are the only thing we would go back for. We started with the calamari. I got the fried mullet. He got the pecan honey chicken. Consistency wise all was cooked perfect.All of the food was so bland we didn’t finish our meals. The marinara for the calamari tasted like it came for a jar. The coleslaw was runny and to sweet for this southerner. The chicken was over powered with way to much honey (the honey itself was good) and the batter had zero seasoning- not even salt/pepper. The mullet fish was piping hot. I was excited until I took my first bite. Again bland- zero salt or pepper in the batter. One plus the fish did taste super fresh. But I’m all about TASTE!

Long lines but what a great place to wait. Had two beers in line and sobered up after all the food. Come thirsty and by the time you get to order, you'll also be hungry. Highly recommended.

A bit pricey but excellent fish. Eat outside with view of water and boats. They have odd hour. Not open on evenings. Also have fish market. Usually very busy and parking on gravel can be troublesome.

CASH ONLY!I called to see if they had any oysters in. Yes they did. I drove all the way from East Bradenton. Come to find out they only take Cash. I was not informed of that on the phone. The guy said that they had an ATM . I don’t use them. So I went and got cash , came back and bought the oysters from the market, not the restaurant. The oysters were from Virginia. We had not had them from there before. But they were tasty. We usually buy a bushel of oysters. They just had the box. Not a very big box at that. $70 for the box, which was said to be a half bushel. A bit pricey for a smaller than usual box. But they were good oysters. Parking is TERRIBLE! But remember, CASH ONLY!!!

Ok I’ll start with the bad and end with the good.1. Our party of 11 got here at 11:09. For a 11:30 opening. We were ticket 8. This put approximately 40 orders in front of us. Getting there almost 30 minutes before opening.2. The ordering system is completely jacked. No matter what size your party is, just go to the bar and order immediately. You don’t have to wait in line for nearly an hour and you immediately get taken care of. The system is very broken. We watched as 20 people just ordered meals as the rest of us are in line for 45 minutes. And we were there first! Don’t have an order priority system, and not give priority to those they get their first!3. There are no refills no plain cups of water to drink. This is a very small complaint, but with children, you can wait up to an hour before your children even get a cup of water to drink. Just something to consider.4. I have grown up in the seafood industry and something everyone should understand is that mullet is a very strong flavored fish! It is not everyone’s taste at all!. Historically, It was a fish that was left over that nobody else wanted. So do not get this fish thinking it’s going to be light on flavor! Smoked is always a great way to try this fish - IMO.The good.1. All of the sauces are absolutely outstanding. Hush puppies are outstanding, and almost all of the sides are outstanding. The french fries are totally average, but like I said, there’s so much great sauce to dip it in. It really carry the weight.2. The quantity of shrimp and seafood you get with each sandwich is incredibly respectable and taste very good and very fresh.3. Softshell crab, well, some people do not like this, was cooked to absolute, perfection, lightly battered and fully flavored. These guys definitely know how to cook, softshell crab.4. I respect with the establishment is trying to preserve and the business they are trying to get to local Fisherman for that alone. I’m not going to put pricing as a negative. Supporting local economies with local resources is the name of the game.Overall, I would give this place 3 1/2 stars. But since I have to choose, I will go up to four. I don’t think I will go back for a long time due to the weight and the horrible ordering experience but it was a Cool area and a great view.

This is my third time eating at Star Fish Company - I always make a point of coming here when visiting from New Jersey. The stone crabs were in season this month and they were absolutely delicious. Fresh and perfectly cooked. The hush puppies are great. Crab cake had plenty of actually crab meat. Fried oysters and clams were fresh and not greasy. 5 out of 5 stars. You can’t get more fresh or better cooked seafood than Star Fish
