Lonny was absolutely amazing. Not going to lie I was a little overwhelmed at all the different food brands that they carried for my dog. Lonny came asked me a lot of questions in regards to the health, age, breed, how active, and many other questions to really find the best option for my dog. Very knowledgeable and courteous. Guinness absolutely loved all of the recommendations. I will be making Barrier Island Pet Supply my go to spot for now on. Would recommend anyone in the area to stop by and check them out very personable!

Very helpful and friendly! They have Mice To Go, including the small frozen rats I will need for my ball python soon (which they do not have at the nearest Pet Supermarket). They did not have the live pinkies I need for my baby western hognose. Those are harder to find in general, so I'll have to go to Melbourne for those until I can get her on frozen thawed. Other than that, they had a lot of stuff, even for reptile supplies. I will definitely be going back! Very nice, wide variety of products available for all of your pet needs! It will be nice to be able to go to a much closer local pet store than make a 30 minute drive or so for reptile supplies and cat food.

I so appreciate the fact that there is a pet store close where I can buy my dog's food.The owner is very helpful and friendly. They also have a reward card that you can get free dog food after so many purchases.I find that they offer a few selections that is not available at the large chain pet stores.The big difference between this and a large chain is that the owner of the store is there and will speak with you. Also has a lot of knowledge. Support local small businesses-this is what makes our community great.

I go to Barrier Island Pet Supply ALL the time and the staff is helpful and friendly!! They always have the things i need. And if they don't, they happily offer to order it for me. The establishment is always CLEAN and TIDY. The animals are always properly cared for and well caged. I believe that it is a WELL TAKEN CARE of place and every time I go I enjoy the company of the reptiles and the staff alike :) I would recommend this store to just about everyone I know.

We have purchased dog and cat food from this store since it opened. We love getting the 10th bag of dog food free which makes the overall cost the same as if I paid the gas to go up to Merritt Island to buy the food at a slightly cheaper price. Our dog had skin sensitivity issues with shampoos, and the owner helped us sort out which shampoos to use. We use the groomers too, and have always been pleased. We have also purchased a beta fish and hermit crabs from them. They helped us determine the correct filter for the tank we had. The price of the filter was slightly higher than the online or chain store price, but the advice was worth paying a few dollars extra. I'm glad the store is local!

I only met Suzanne after she opened the store and I was one of her first customers. Years later, she has become one of my favorite acquaintances and her knowledge about pet care has helped me out so much with my pets. Even though I firmly believe in "shop local", I visit BI Pet because of the staff friendliness, variety of products (not available in Big Box stores), Suzanne's knowledge, and getting to see and chat with other locals. This store is one of the only places where you can buy quality raw pet food. The owners are great people and they have nothing but fair prices. As for the complainers below. Wake up! Chain stores have it way easier than small businesses as far as ordering for hundreds of stores nationally so they can take the loss on certain items(like the hamster cage complainer) Support local!!

I LOVE this pet store!! And everyone I know loves it too. I don't quite understand the previous review. Seems like someone is just being HATEFUL!!! I shop there all the time. The prices are fair. The store is clean. The animals are cared for properly. and it's such a nice family. I don't know why someone would say such lies. Guess some people don't have anything better to do... Sad. I shop there and I see and know the truth.

This is an excellent small mom and pop pet store. Some of the prices are high, but they are a small store, of course walmart or petsmart can beat them... who wants to drive all that way to save a dollar or two. The customer service is outstanding, they have many services that are outstanding. I thoroughly enjoy the selection when I am in there and will continue to be a repeat customer!

Due to a recent illness, my cats have been switched to a grain free, novel protein diet. I've visited a few of the other locally owned pet stores in the county to check out the selection and today I drove quite a distance to see what Barrier Island Pet Supply had in stock. I was very disappointed by their limited selection of novel protein and limited ingredient cat foods. They have only one very small section of canned cat food. I understand that it is a small family owned operation... but I was hoping for a little more selection. I was told that they could special order anything I was looking for, but since we are just trying one or two cans of each type at a time, that would not be feasible for us. I guess I'll keep looking

I have shopped at BIPS since before their grand opening and have been disappointed more than a few times. The staff are generally friendly but don't always have answers to your questions. Their location is perfect being the only pet store on the island so they can charge what they want, but there are perks like other pet stores like buy ten bags and get one free. If I NEED something I will buy from them but I normally wait till I drive to Merritt Island and save money (or if it is a holistic food I will buy from Sunseed two minutes up the road). They will "special" order some things for you but will not tell you how long it will take ( I waited almost three months for a collar and leash set). Most of their dog clothes are just wife-beaters that a customer sewed some ruffles on and are priced way up, you get maybe one hard wear out of them and they literally come apart at the seams. My dogs are trained ratters and went crazy chasing a rat(s) last time I was in there so I have to leave them at home now. There are dust bunnies in the corners, and the floors over all are gross. I walk my dogs in the neighborhood behind the store and the trash behind the place is an eye sore. If you purchase ANY fish from there check the entire tank for Ick and ask when their last outbreak was. Don't believe them if the say they wont catch it from a fish in the tank next to them, all the water goes through the same filtration system. I unfortunately did not do my research before hand and purchased a Cory cat that infected my tank killing two large angles and a few tetras before I could treat. I used to take my dogs to be groomed there and the groomer Beth does a fantastic job. She even does Anal Glands! I have never worked there, am not being malicious or "cyber bullying" I shop there and just have not always been 100% satisfied. This place is a DISASTER! Their animals are infested with mites to the point employees and customers leave with ugly red bug bites. There are HUGE rats that roam freely ( I hope that escaped from their feeders). Reptiles randomly get out and are not seen for months. The owners often argue and randomly close the store for hours at a time and the place is filthy. I understand sales and mark up but their dog and cat food prices are ridiculous! The last time I was there they had found a ROACH NEST in their ceiling and I vowed never to go back. EW! Their only saving grace is their grooming. Reasonably priced, Fast, Friendly, and the results are Great!

I went to purchase a hampster cage and was very disapointed to see that they were PRICE GOUGING! They were charging $75.00 for the same EXACT cage I saw at PetSmart the day before, which was priced regularly $39.99 on sale for $29.99. When I asked the owner if they would price match, she first said she would, until she saw the advertisement herself. Then she rudely carried on how she would be a stupid business woman to even come close to that price and the best she could do was $65.00! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! The consumer doesn't care why the owners aren't smart enough to purchase their products at a better wholesale price!One more thing...they only had ONE cage, no choices and the box was so filthy it looked like it has been on the shelf for a decade!Save yourself the fustration and make the drive to Merritt Island or Melbourne.

Super nice 'mom and pop' local business. The owner, Suzanne, is very knowledgable about pet foods and supplies. If they don't have what you want, they'll order it for you. I go there all the time.

OMG I went to buy cat litter there and it was $10 dollars more than Pet Supermarket. I didn't know it at the time, but I got screwed. People are generally nice, but the place is a dump. They are multiple bugs everywhere. Roaches swarm, rats roam, crikets jumping, and algea in all the tanks. I walked around the corner and trash is overloaded and some ugly blue stuff (looks like fish tanks) is drooping over the side fence. Although, the staff seem truely helpful, the lack of cleanliness is shown throughout the store. Empty cages full of old whatever with little natty things biting, crickets jumping(they were in the restroom) and dead, along with foot-long roaches, That was a scary site. There were fish tanks with floating dead fish or half eaten by the big fish. Very EWWWW. I'm surprised the health department hasn't shut them down. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I bought a bag of dog food. There were holes eaten through and rat contents imbeded in the bag. Double EWWWWW. I can't keep it inside anymore. The trash, rodents(even saw a dead rat in snake feeder), roaches, and these flying whatevers that bite me, should be told to everyone. This place needs a make over before the rodents do a takeover--NO PUN INTENDED. Reconsider before you bring something home that could kill your loved ones(lizard, snake, fish, whatever)!!!!!! I will NEVER buy from them ever again!

Worst ever,I drove over a hour for a couple turtles that I called and verified that were there and nothing. They told me I could come back in a week and get one. Nothing in stock and no other stores near the location they made me drive to. No stars not possible and no return on the time and gas spent for trip. ..................Worst ever!!!!..................
