We’ve been coming here for 20 years, we have tried other vets when we moved and nothing compares. It’s worth the longer drive back to Clearwater. Dr. Dan has been our best vet for all our dogs and cats! Friendly, great with our animals and very reasonable on prices.

Vet work, let alone life is not easy. Yet Dr. Cowden persists. And in light of this, he has grown an amazing team and a great office. I myself drive almost 40 minutes to see him after I moved, and cannot imagine me and my girl going anywhere else. He and his team have taken the time to get to know my anxious little shelter dog, and develop a relationship that started with needing a muzzle, to a trusting relationship where she only needs a couple people giving some tight hugs when she's understandably anxious and being worked on. I cant thank Dr. Cowden and his team enough for this, as it is not something I have wholly experienced from a veterinary team before.Please keep persisting. You do amazing work.

Dr Dan and his staff are awesome.I haven't had a pet in a while, but when I did, they took great care of my dog and cat.He was so kind and caring when I had to put my dog down.

THIS PLACE KILLED MY CAT. The doctor prescribed my cat way too much of insulin everyday and I ended up overdosing my cat. When he started having seizures we rushed him to the emergency hospital and once we told them his dose he was on from “dr. Dan” the hospital was shocked to hear how high of a dose he recommended to my cat everyday. They said they NEVER heard of a cat getting that high of a dose of insulin. After I had to put down my sweet baby boy I went back to “dr.dan” to tell him what the hospital told me and he was incredibly rude and took zero responsibility for what he did. Claiming that he has had many cats on that high of a dose. Which is ridiculous when the hospital just told me that the dose was the highest they’d ever seen. He was incredibly insensitive and acted like it was my fault when I was doing what he told me to do!!! This “doctor” is a joke. He isn’t thorough, he doesn’t care about you or your pet.

This place is terrible, the secretary treated me very badly when she heard my accent, I'm Latina, she started treating me differently, she's a racist, they didn't want to groom my dog, they're racists, the owner is rudely disrespectful, he yelled at me He told me that I could never take my dog ​​there again, that they would never take care of him. They bury me saying that I didn't show up for appointments three times just to not take care of my dog ​​because I'm Latina. If I could denounce them for racism I would do so. I have been going to Dr. Cowden for 2 to 3 years now. Today is the last time I will ever seek out his services. My dog was brought into his care around two weeks ago and was misdiagnosed with a bacterial skin infection under his tail. The medication didn’t work, and my dog wouldn’t stop biting himself. I discovered eggs, pus, and a burrowing infection from some sort of living thing. When I walked in to get my dog the help he needed this morning, Dr. Cowden was clearly insulted by the confrontation with his mistake. I had to push for him to consider the symptoms I spoke of. The only reason he became any bit more thorough was because his lovely vet tech Karina, who was actually taking me seriously before he ever thought to. My dog ended up being diagnosed with tape worms and given flea medication and cortisol spray all of that coming out to about $203. The best businesses I know on up to their mistakes and rectify them even if it means losing a little bit of time and money And humbling your ego. Dr. Cowden seems to have lost his true care for animals, because he is not thorough. The ironic part was that he had posters on his bulletin board showing pictures of parasites that were in humans transferred to them by their dog, and how “The best doctor is a veterinarian because their patients can’t answer their questions. They just have to know.” Maybe that was true at some point, but Dr. Caden has lost his touch. If he really cared about doing a good job he would’ve owned up to his mistake. I strongly do not recommend Dr. Couden.Last point. I still don’t know if my dog got the right treatment. The vet didn’t examine a skin sample or anything.Update: from the one star ratings that I am reading currently, it seems like there is a common problem with antibiotic pushing. When we were looking at his tail, which was hard to do because he was in pain and kept moving, I asked him if he wanted me to point my flashlight on the area as we were all crowding over him to see and it was dark, but he said no. He did not take a close look at all. Incompetence comes from lack of care and that makes me livid.

Our vet retired and due to horrible reviews and a shaky conversation with the new staff that took over his practice, I was looking for a comfortable and competent vet to take care of my dog with addison's. I am so happy to have found this place! Instead of lifting her up on the exam table, we all sat on the floor with my girl which kept her at ease. Even with the vet she went to for years, she would shake, but not this time! I think I even saw her smile after the exam! The cost is very reasonable and more importantly, I feel confident that Josie will receive the best care and everyone was so friendly. So thankful!

after the company switched over and we lost Doc St. Johnit was time to leave as well the ladies at the front desk or disgusting and they tried to charge me nearly $700 to spay my dog LMAOmiss you DOC. BEST VET EVER

One of a kind!This is the kind of veterinary practice that is hard to find these days.Dr. Cowden, Lynda, Corinna and the whole team are wonderful, caring people.Dr. Cowden is very knowledgeable and won't send you to "experts" to spend thousands of dollars for something like a simple biopsy. He does it all himself and he does it exquisitely.The prices are VERY reasonable, so I was finally able to get all my pets their needed treatments. They are now free of breast cancer and other cancerous tumors and they're up to date on their dentals and bloodwork.It feels so good to be in such caring and professional hands! I was taking my dog to A Pet's Place of Clearwater for a year an a half for reoccurring UTI's. I researched anything and everything I could and even had him at other vets during this time. I told this vet all the things I found online and recommendations from the other vets of things I was trying in order to help my dog stay healthy. I was extracting his bladder, letting him air out without diapers, put him on prescription Pro Plan UR dog food, supplemental drops, bathed him frequently, etc. I was never given any advice from this vet on things to try or do but he would agree with the things I told him I was doing. Then on my final visit to this vet I was accused not once but twice that it's my fault my dog kept getting sick. That I wasn't extracting my dogs bladder or keeping him clean. Guess what, I went to another vet and it turns out that my dog has Cushings disease which causes UTI's. A year and a half with this vet and never once was this something he thought of but instead put me down as if I'm a bad pet parent. How about you're a bad vet? Before you write that I wasn't a client of yours, my name on file at your office is Fritzler and my dog is Jake.Update: False response. I brought my dog in every time you told me I had too which was often and for very expensive urine cultures. I would really hate to think that you would put your license on the line for little ole me by just giving me antibiotics any time I "demanded". That's not how it works and anyone that ever has been to a vet knows that.

Great experience. I have a fearful dog that can be a little much. I was dropping him off for surgery and the staff took the time to work with him before I left. They are more about the animals health than making you go broke.

Our fur babies are always treated so well when visiting Dr Dan and staff. He is a good doctor and really cares for his patients. The tech/groomer there has a heart of gold and is the reason we first started going there as we had two Himalayan long haired cats. The front office staff is also quite helpful and efficient when scheduling appointments or just grabbing a bag of food. Thanks A Pet's Place for 13 years of service!!

My dog Zoey has been to Dr. Dan twice in the past year. She had a dental done on the second visit and they did a great job and the price was very reasonable. Zoey is also on medication for her heart condition and the staff is always quick to get her monthly refills ready for her even on short notice and they are friendly and compassionate, as Dr. Dan is. It's refreshing to find a practice that doesn't price gouge at the expense of a pet's health and quality of life...so many veterinarians do, just because they can. Their greed overpowers any genuine concern for their patient's welfare because it's all about the money...it should never be that way.

Love this place. They always take great care of my dog. Vet services are slightly more affordable than other vet offices in the area though it varies. Their rates for grooming and boarding are substantially more affordable than other similar businesses in the area. And they do a far more thorough job than other groomers. My dog is always happy to go here and never seems stressed when I pick him up. I can't see taking him anywhere else.

Dr. Dan and his staff are absolutely amazing! They've been treating my menagerie of pets for 25 years and I wouldn't even consider using another vet. They are super knowledgeable and caring. Dr. Dan recently, once again, saved the life of my one of my beloved pets-and even called later that evening to check up on his patient! Their level of quality and personal service is unequaled and I highly recommend them:)

The level of care and compassion A Pet's Place offers is beyond incredible!!!! Could NEVER put into words our thankfulness for them ❤ They helped us say a peaceful good-bye to one of our babies. They also helped our puppy walk again after suffering temporary paralysis! The laser therapy treatment and medication truly saved her life ❤ You will absolutely LOVE THEM and never want to go anywhere else!!!!

Took my dog to the visiting cardiologist, very pricy, when I went to pick him up only a tech talked to me, read me the doctors notes and said thank you and was ending the visit. I said don't I get to talk to the vet and she got frustrated with me. I said I have questions. I'm not going to just pay you 800 bucks without being able to talk to someone about his condition. Finally they said I had to wait until the regular vet was free. I waited another 1/2 hour but I did finally see the vet. All I can say is strange policies and procedures but the vet did help me understand my dogs condition better. More pricey then some too.

Best Vet in Town!!! I've been going to Dr. Cowden for over 20 years. He is very knowledgeable and gentle with my animals and the whole staff is excellent! My cats are not afraid of him and every experience has been great. They are all animal lovers and it shows in the way they treat me and my cats. Dr. Cowden also has very reasonable rates and does not do a lot of unnecessary test to inflate the bill. I trust him and his staff completely and know that my pets get the best care.

Dr Cowden and his staff have been great with our morkie Belle. She is happy to go there for her vet or grooming visits. I switched from Petsmart and it was so refreshing not be “upsold” every time I walked in. Dr. Cowden treated Belle so calmly and gently in an emergency situation I will always be thankful for the skill and compassion he and his staff showed. I recommend him to everyone looking for a great vet that isn’t out to overcharge and recommend every test whether it’s needed or not

Dr. Cowden and his staff are excellent. Super nice people. My old Vet in Indiana used to try to push services I didn't need and didn't want. A Pet's Place does not do that. Five enthusiastic stars.
