Prime spot to stay in Cedar key! Close enough to downtown we rode scooters. Sites are tight if park is full. We had a waterview and it was beautiful. Boat ramp is around the corner and cute little Bottle bar is next door. Wish there was a pool and there is no amenities really at all. I did see a kayak rack, but no kayaks. There is a dock to fish from or sit and enjoy the views.

You come to Cedar Key for the beautiful views and Sunset Isle RV resort lives up to the expectations. It is a small location so it is quiet. The WiFi has been fantastic at the end of March 2023. We got a spot right on the water near the launch ramp and loved the sunsets and just watching the tides go in/out.We did a lot of biking and kayaking from this location to explore, the whole island is fun to poke around; a few small shops, dolphin sightings from downtown docks, fresh seafood. The group regularly had campfires in the evening that were open to all.Only one thing we found that the four washrooms could be cleaned more - but with our RV facilities it didn't matter. It is also worth noting that their layout means no of the sites are sitting on the side of the highway (as others in the area do) - this was huge to ensure a good stay.Loved just sitting outside and watching the fish jump.

Needed to extend our stay to complete planned activities last time we stayed there. The desk agent assigned us a new spot for that night and told us we could move to that location early in the morning since nobody was there, and we could get to our activities early as required. When I went back to the office to confirm our new spot the same agent was not there and I was told I would have to move my trailer off of property by 11 a.m. and not be able to return until 1:00. This would totally ruin our plans and was not what I was promised. I was understandably upset and let it be known. I thought that the problem got resolved and we were able to complete our stay as promised and accomplished our goals. Now I have attempted to make reservations there again and been notified that I am blocked from ALL Treehouse Communities Resorts in perpetuity, because their people failed to communicate internally and put a guest in an untenable situation. It's a beautiful location and we loved staying there despite being overcrowded (far too many RVs for the amount of space...tiny lots) and a sour, intractable manager that does not return phone calls. There is a great little state park not far from there that we will probably stay at next time.Follow up: Sunset Isle RV in their response below expressed their desire to make things right, but it was only lip service as they have continued to not answer my calls or return calls when messages are left. They are only trying to look good in the face of negative reviews. Don't believe it.

We stayed here a few years ago, under different management/ownership and were so impressed w/the previous people who ran the campground. Sadly we can’t say the same thing, three years later. The location is great for camping, your on the water however the amenities are clearly not well kept anymore. We stayed for six days and the bathrooms were never cleaned. The trash was piled high, bathrooms dirty, and the staff was found constantly smoking. Sad to see a rare gem go down hill.

The park was decent until somebody (not management ) kept warning us about our dogs being off leash. They weren’t off leash but we still kept getting reprimanded. We had to put up with a slob next to us the whole time. Nobody said anything to them. I just think that if your going to enforce a rule make sure you see it for yourself. Shame on them. Made me feel like I was back in grade school.

I've been coming here since 2017, except during covid years. I'm so glad to be back again for a few months once again. I personally love this place. Ya it's tight, because it was built in the 50s when campers were typically smaller, but there is a great sense of community here, which makes the tightness more tolerable. The location is wonderful, so close to a town, Cedar Key, a town that time has forgotten. The resort is on the Gulf but not on open water, it's in a protected bay with humicky islands scattered about. The water and beach front is not used le for swimming however, they have a large dock where many gather every evening to watch the sunsets. The sunsets over the water here are spectacular.During low tide the water is almost all gone leaving a less attractive view of the mucky bottom, but that also forms part of the character of the place. If you like order and those subdivision like rv parks where you have paved roads and everything is neat, organized and tidy and with a pool, then you may not enjoy here like I do. It's worth checking out though and if you aren't into it then move on.Because it's an older resort, it needs work and capital investment that hasn't been done in a while. Hoping the new owners have a business plan to do that, but that will likely also cause the fees to increase. The community events of the pre covid era, like potluck dinners, music night, campfire at The Club House area, card night, etc are coming back here, but it's not all back. There use to be an event coordinator that stayed in the resort and maybe that's something for them to consider once again as it really made this place even more special. The place however, now has quite a few full timers, which brings the owner year round revenues, but with living in a trailer full time comes stuff, and more stuff then you can contain in your trailer, so it gets stored outside. And it's near the point here where it's starting to distract from the rustic charm of the place. I think the owners should create rules about the cleanliness of sites and not permit outside storage or fencing of sites and outdoor storage buns, etc.Staff here are very nice and willing to help out. But I don't believe they would want to enforce any rules other than asking to comply if it was an obvious beach of a major rule. I don't blame them as you never know how some people may react and there's no reason to risk your health over it. But the Corporation, three House Communities, should consider regular inspection and give orders to comply to their rules.Overall, I give it a 3.5 stars but with just a little effort it can easily be a 4 star And with some annual capital investment, it could become a 5 star in my opinion. A diamond in the rough so to speak. But I will say it may not satisfy everyone's taste.

If you have a dog you cherish don't bring them there. My dog was attacked by another dog from the park. 12,000.00 hospital bill. As far as I know the corporation has done nothing not even tell Douglas or his dog to leave the park. My boy was 12 lbs happy and healthy. Now I am taking him home in an urn. There is no animal control in Cedar Key. The couple that work there are real nice. The manager is very corporate. Because both dogs were leashed I was told it was a dog fight and mine got the worst. My husband never saw it coming and had nightmares for days. They let all breeds stay there. Rules say no aggressive behavior and owner must have control at all times. He had to fight his dog and it grabbed mine again. Should've been grounds to make him and his dog leave. But we are the ones who left after 2 weeks of nothing being done.

We were scheduled for a 3 night stay in Jan, however the site was undesirable and a tight fit for our camper. Turns out the site we agreed on and what we were given was changed without my knowledge. Overall far from resort living as advertised. We were willing to work with them, but in the end the manger clearly stated "you can either have the site or we can reimburse you". We chose the reimbursement option, however was charged for the 3 nights anyways. Their policy states no cancelation within 30 days, but when the manager gives you THEIR WORD you expect to treated fairly & accordingly. I called to clear up what I assumed was a misunderstanding and was treated rudely. I was calm, voiced my understanding of what we'd discussed previously and the manager got loud and disrespectful. Really disappointing overall. I've never been treated like that, very unnecessary.

Clean, friendly, well kept park. Sites are gravel, and fairly level. It's an older facility, so some of the sites are tight. We had good power, and ample water pressure. It's convenient to downtown Cedar Key. Be sure to hit the tiki bar down the street at the Lo Key Hideaway. Also Annie's for home style meals.

Stayed here at the end of February when the new owners where just getting started. We are from Pennsylvania, both retired and decided to spend 2 months in Florida this past winter. We had a spot close to the water and the people blocking our view pulled out 2 days after we pulled in, the sunsets were to die for. Close to town and many great fishing spots. We brought 2 scooters and they were great for exploring Cedar Key. The campground was quiet, clean and just what we were looking for. Our biggest complaint is that some idiot thought it was a good idea to put tiny houses in most of the waterfront spots, which only leaves a few for campers. If not for the tiny houses blocking most views, I would have given it 5 stars.

My husband and I stayed at Sunset Isle for 3 nights June 17th. We have always enjoyed staying there. We had problems with our slide out. We were very fortunate to have Bill Rutledge working the desk the day we were leaving. He was so very helpful. He jumped our house battery and we were on our way. Sunset Isle is very Lucy to have such a wonderful employee.

We have a camper rental business, Coastal Camper Rentals of Fernandina, and we are always looking for good spots for our guests and our own family. We really enjoyed our time here. We had a waterfront site, and the sunsets are spectacular. We launched our kayak from the campground, and loved exploring Cedar Key, too. Sunset Isle has great amenities, and although the sites are a bit small, are still full hookup, and with the water and sunset views, cannot be beat! It was a great trip, and we will certainly return yearly!

Other than not having a shop, for ice, drinks, etc., this place is great. It has a gorgeous view of the water. Small but not too tight. Friendly staff. The sites are level and mostly gravel. Full hook up with no problems. We'll definitely be back and soon.

Long story here. There are a lot of rumors flying around. Treehouse Properties now has possession back after the tiny home people failed to make lease payments. The tiny house people gave away all the picnic tables when they had it. They did little maintenance. Treehouse Properties has already begun remodeling the rooms and have ripped out everything. They plan on hauling in what I was told was $1 million worth of dirt. The town of Cedar Key will not let them pour concrete or lay asphalt without extensive studies and permits. They plan on reducing the number of sites to give more space to the remaining ones. An interesting side note is the electric meters on every site which are used to bill the monthly renters. Interesting to see how much electricity an RV pulls when you plug in.My stay was quite pleasant as there were few guests in early June. The site "B" was level gravel with good voltage, water pressure and capped sewer. There is a dock for launching kayaks, a fairly nice party room and laundry. It is NOT a resort, there is no pool and the area is not a a manicured lawn. Still it is MUCH closer in than the other RV resort way out of town. It is MUCH cheaper than the roadside Tiki Bar joint with no traffic sounds.I have stayed at the other place way out of town many times and decided to stay here one night as a trial. I will probably stay here in the future because it is so much closer in.I can't wait to see the improvement they make between now (June 2022) and the future.Just added a couple sunset pictures taken from one of the waterfront lots.

We stayed here four nights. The RV sites are extremely small and close to neighbors with little shade. However, it was quiet, pleasant, and clean. The hosts were accommodating because they were not busy and left the site next to us open. The sunsets were beautiful and the tidal changes interesting to watch. We ate in town two nights and enjoyed local clams and chowder. I recommend this place only when it is not busy.

We had a great time! Camptel have moved out so it was very quiet but that didn't bother us. Both the office lady (I apologize my memory isn't great) and maintenance man were both extremely helpful and nice. Credit to the company. Yes there are bugs, it's Florida. Bring bug spray. The tide does go out so if you want to paddle etc the evening is best.My only negative bits to say which they are fully aware of is the wifi, which they are investing in for the future and bathrooms. On occasion there was no toilet roll and lots of bugs due to people leaving the doors open (not their fault). Thanks for having us! We'll definitely be back.

I hate to leave a glowing review because it may make returning more difficult. Sunset Isle is enigmatic, charming and just plain FUN. Cedar Key is famous for fabulous sunsets, and they're most beautiful from the pier of this park. We also made new friends and wonderful memories around the communal firepit. The park does need attention to maintenance. The waste system is poorly designed (too little slope for fast flow), and plugs up,, the shower rooms are old and seldom clean, and the cable works on under a quarter of the sites. I hope the Treehouse company who recently took over operations starts reinvesting some profit back into this little gem. The hippie vibe of the park deserves to be polished and properly maintained. Even as is, we will return if if we have an opportunity.

Great location! Right on the water. Beautiful sunset, quiet, and the man who maintains the park was very welcoming and helpful. Sites are pretty close together and some of the roadways in the park have very tight turns, particularly for our 40 foot motorhome. Tiki bar is just down the road, and you are about a mile from the main street shops of Cedar Keys. Small dock for fishing, water was VERY shallow, and we could see big fish just below the surface. Kind of pricey for the off-season at $99+tx.

This place is right on the salt marsh of Cedar Key. It is a great place for beautiful views of the sun setting. It's a small campground that is a bit crowded. The sites are small. The roads and sites are all black dirt. The staff are nice and helpful. I camped there after the hurricane. So, they had a lot of things that had to be fixed. They had put in all new electric in the sites close to the water. The bathrooms were messed up so, they opened a hotel room for the bathroom to be used. It's a nice place to site at your site and watch the sun set over the salt marsh.

Hung out here during my birthday weekend in September. It was super quiet and lovely. Only issues were the Love Bugs and a few early morning dog barkers. No bad dogs, just bad owners. The place is lovely, serene and private. Close by bike to the Tiki Bar and Cedar Key Village. Wonderful campgrounds. Kind and helpful manager. We would come back.

Tight waterfront sites but view is worth it! More room on inner sites with ample laundry and shower/washroom facilities. Full hookup with cable TV. Very nice staff. Short bicycle ride into town of about 1 1/2 miles. Most sites are far enough from the road (FL 24) to be very quiet. Limited activity on a Sunday evening may help that. Very pleasant!

Great RV resort, charming and welcoming, and very convenient to all that Cedar Key has to offer. It’s a short stroll to an amazing tiki bar and a quick bike ride to visit the downtown area. Bathhouse is a little wonky and some areas could use a few paint touch-ups, but no big deal: this place is unique and really awesome! Wonderful staff and truly gorgeous views of the water.

Stayed 3 nights. We had kayaks and were able to launch directly from the park. Keep an eye on the tides! Clean bathrooms, very nice owners. Cedar Key is a cool place and this has great access. Will stay again

Nice campground and clean rooms at the motel. The rooms are small this isn't a Sheraton but clean with a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, TV and WIFI. Staff is friendly and accommodating. If you want more than a place to sleep this isn't for you. If you are like us and out and about all day and/or friends in the campground to spend your time this is just right. My only complaint is the bed mattress could use replacing. Wasn't terrible but past its prime.

I absolutely loved my stay at Sunset Isle!!! The view from my spot was priceless and the staff was beyond helpful!! I made a rookie mistake and over extended my stabilizer jack which bent but the maintenance saved the day and was able to take it off for me!!! I’m so returning here and hoping to get the exact same spot!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

This was our first time at this RV park. We have a 35‘ travel trailer that wouldn’t quite fit into the first spot they had reserved for us, so the guys that work there brought us around to a longer site. This site offered us a nice Waterview. It’s a short (1.5 miles) scooter ride to downtown which offers good restaurants and beautiful views. People were all very friendly and happy to provide information on what to see. The staff at this site were very helpful and accommodating. The only negative (and it’s not really bad) is you’re pretty close to your neighbors. It’s also now called Camptel. We will be back for sure!

Great place to experience a tiny home in a casual family friendly rv park. Nice amenities with an emphasis on clean facilities. It's 4 minutes to downtown Cedar Key, making it an ideal Basecamp. There's a kayak launch on to the salt flats that's great for a little moring fishing.
