We stayed at Morning Glories and the house was perfect for our large group. It was clean, well appointed kitchen, and fun game room. Also check in/out was easy. Don't for get to rent a golf cart during your stay.

My family rented a private home on Captiva Island through American Realty of Captiva. Before checking American Realty we spent hours on the internet doing research to find the right fit for our family. We came upon the American Realty website and it was very helpful. They have a great selection of homes for every budget. My family had a small, but specific list of things that we had to have and American Realty delivered. I liked the online calendar that allows you to check availability without making a phone call and it was easy to make the reservation online. We booked months in advance and anytime I had a question I received a reply with a helpful answer. The photos and descriptions of the property on the website all seemed up to date and accurate. Once we arrived at the property everything was in order as promised. We had a couple of minor maintenance issues during our stay (big houses next to the ocean always have something going on) and they sent out a maintenance team right away that corrected the issue quickly with no impact to our vacation. We will rent from American Realty Captiva again for sure! Thanks

Just finished a wonderful week in Captiva at our usual residence! Lisa and team did a great job. The only change to our routine post Ian was that we had to head to Sanibel for a few of our dinners, but we are glad we did. So you don't have to do your own research on what is opened: Old Captiva House (great dinner), Cantina Captiva (don't leet the food truck fool you, great food), Boops By the Bubble Room (can still get the Bubble Room desserts and great coffee and muffins in the AM), Mucky Duck (didn't eat there, they don't take reservations and you can rarely catch a table outside), Doc Ford's Sanibel (awesome, ate there twice by request), Rosalia's (great Mexican food), Cielo Sanibel (best meal in a log time and best meal of the week), Timbers (crunchy grouper as good as ever). Make reservations before you get to the island. There are more diners than restaurants in many cases!

My family and I rented a home in Captiva from American Reality for the week over Christmas for close to $10,000.00 This was to be our family vacation. Unfortunately, Hurricane Ian destroyed the island causing damage to the infrastructure, bridge, restaurants, stores etc. Lisa Wheeler called us today and stated that they will not be refunding our money and that they will be keeping our money for two year and we can apply it then. Also that our money will be released to the owner on December 30th. She was extremely rude and condescending stating that I will have to contact my attorney and that I chose to cancel my vacation and did not take trip insurance. I did not want cancel my vacation... there is no island to vacation at...Why should American Reality use my families vacation money for 2 years. I had also rented a place in Sanibel for a week in January from Sanibel Holiday. They contacted me the week after the hurricane and refunded my money the next week and could not have been more ethical and professional. American Reality will respond ,as they do to all complaints, with a paste and copied state statue. Ms. Wheeler also refused to provide us with her brokers name repeating over and over that they do not fall under the real estate commission that they are Chapter 509 Department of Business and Regulations. I have filed a complaint there also. Just a horrible company to deal with.

DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THIS COMPANY!!! Absolutely awful communication with a severe lack of customer service. No one on the team was responsive while we were on the property and then proceeded to insult us by claiming we were making false claims about trying to contact them. They had an excuse for every issue we had with no interest in resolving them or ensuring a better experience in the future. My family has stayed on the island annually for over fifteen years. This is the first and last time we will ever use this company.

Have rented many times from this company and have always been satisfied until this year. Sent a negative review twice since our March stay & they have ignored me. We stayed at A Shore Thing during season which meant we paid approximately $5400.00 for a week. Positives: location and pool area. Negatives: dirty dishes on shelves ( obviously a housekeeping problem, not owner’s problem), home stuck in the fifties(needs upgrades everywhere but master bedroom and one bath for this price), poorly laid out kitchen with freezer door opening—somewhat—into a wall and dishwasher opening in front of oven. However, our major complaint was the two double beds which made noises every time a person moved! We had the maintenance man come look and he agreed they were cheap mattresses and springs. Granted that could not have been remedied that week but my bet is they r still right there. This home just isn’t up to AMERICAN Realty standards and I am amazed at the positive reviews. However, I do note that they were not paying the same price as “season” renters do. Sadly, I will be hesitant to rent from them again.

If you are looking to visit Captiva please DO NOT USE this rental company. We have spent the last 3 months trying to get them to reschedule our trip in June until 2021 because of the pandemic. There have been numerous emails and phone call to them and they have 100% refused to work with us because the country shut down. We have never asked them for our money back only to reach out to the homeowners to reschedule our visit. Everything else on our vacation has been either cancelled or rescheduled with absolutely no hassle. Now we paying for a vacation they we are unable to take. If I could give them 0 stars I would

Captiva is paradise!! My family and I go there every year since I was little and I an now 32 years old. We have rented from American Reality for as long as I can remember. We have stayed in all different places from private homes to condos and every place was perfect. We have never been disappointed with our rental or the customer service. The island is amazing and so is American Realty!

We have celebrated Christmas for two years in a row at the Manateaze. It has the number of beds we require as well as beach access and pool. We are an extended family that ranges in age from 97 to 12. The elevator comes in handy for moving groceries and grandma. The kayaks and boat dock are just the thing for the boys. We contacted American Realty at the end of our first stay to request that some maintenance items were attended to before we began our second stay, and American most of what we asked.

I have been using American Realty for years and years. What a great team to work with! They are totally responsive to all your needs and very helpful in their feedback about any of their rental properties. I continue to use them for rentals made well in advance or spur of the moment trips. I especially like their check-in process. Just walk right in at the designated time and your keys are on a counter!

We rented the Grey Heron guest House July 3-10th and my Son and In-laws Rented the main house.I can not speak for my Sons experience at the main House, but I can speak about my Experience in the Guest house.Day1 July 3 rd upon arrival the HVAC system did not work so they dispatched a Technician for an intermittent problem. HVAC system managed to stay on until the 8th of July.Day 3 July 5th Hurricane Elsa brought flooding and deep standing water that made it almost impossible to get out because the Property floods, perhaps the Property should invest in Sump Pumps to help with Drainage so Tenants can at least get out.Day 4-5 July 6 Early Am woke up to my Granddaughter calling out her Bedroom was full of bugs 2nd bedroom full of bugs Bathroom full of Bugs Hallway and attic Hatch full of Bugs.Regardless of the Storm or not the Home was not properly Sealed. How can one sleep at night with bug crawling over oneself.This property was not Cheap by any means it Cost $$$$$ for that price, extra attention by the Management should have been taken.This was my family’s experience at The Grey Heron Guest House and it may not be yours, but when planning an expensive vacation, Think Twice, we could not accept these conditions anymore and went home early.July 8, 2021Please see the attached images.M. We have been renting with American Realty of Captiva for a couple of years and have been very impressed with their properties but especially with their service. We always vacation with our dog, and they've worked with us to find the exact high-end, pet-friendly homes with the features and amenities we have been looking for. Everything is seamless -- from the reservation process through check-out at the end of the stay. Highly recommended!

I have rented from American Realty for 28 years. Service is the best and they are always attentive to any small problem that might be encountered. They strictly adhere to the Covid protocol, and rental is always clean and well maintained. Lisa and Morgana have a wealth of local knowledge which they are happy to share to make your vacation more enjoyable. There is plenty of outdoor dining on Captiva and the views along with local wildlife are among the best you will encounter anywhere. Shelling and fishing are an added bonus, as is the laidback atmosphere. This is the proverbial cheeseburger in paradise, and is fun for the entire family.

We have been coming to Captiva Island for Thanksgiving week for the past 13 years. We always discuss a different place but continue to come to Captiva because it has something for all of us. Our family ranges from 88 years old to age 12. We have rented from American Realty for the past several years and they have been great! We need an elevator for our mom and we love the dock and the beach right across the street. The house is perfect for us, it has everything we need and is very secluded. Next year we will have to move to a different house because this house will be renovated. We are looking forward to a nice change in location as this house is directly on the beach. American was very helpful in finding a new house to rent for next year. Some of the kids will be going off to college but want to keep up the tradition we have coming to Captiva, they wouldn't want to go anywhere else! I would highly recommend this vacation if coming to Florida!

The only reason I am giving 4 stars is for the location, and the beauty of the home. It is disappointing to my husband and I for the issues that we experienced this year and for those reasons we will not be returning to a very beautiful location where the house is situated on the island, the issues that we experienced from a leaking roof to a freezer on a very high end appliance not working properly to palmetto bugs to a very temperamental washing machine to doors not closing and being able to be locked but asides from dealing with those items for a good portion of our 2 weeks the gentlemen from the maintenance team were as accommodating as they could be with bringing additional towels and large buckets. but thru it all we enjoyed a very nice and comfortable kitchen to enjoy family and friends with good food and wine, good luck with the roof repairs again and hopefully for the owners sake it is addressed and fixed properly.

This is a very unprofessional company and they are in the business of holding peoples money. The specific name on our reservation is Lisa Wheeler. We booked a reservation through VRBO. The dates were open so I booked it. The first time they cancelled she stated that the previous rentals have first refusal. That is a good practice but why did you not block out the rental on VRBO. This situation caused VRBO to charge me over $400 in fees which Lisa said she had nothing to do with and refused to help. I continued to wait and set a calendar for the week when I could book safely. I when through the booking again and again Lisa Wheeler cancelled. This time with a similar reason, and again with VRBO charging. Currently although Lisa has cancelled but not credited over $1100 of my money back. I have a call into both VRBO and the better business bureau. This place should be shut down. DON’t give them your money or your business. I am a hard working educator who was hoping to take my family on a vacation. I can only imagine the number of seniors that are not as quick with new technology that American Realty has stolen from.

This is a lovely house, located only steps from the beach. The pool area, with its hot tub and waterfalls, is perfect for entertaining. There's even a window to pass things back and forth from the kitchen to the grill station. The furniture is comfortable, and the dining room table accommodates a big family. Beds also are cozy, with spacious bathrooms. We had a fantastic stay and plan to come back again next year.

We have rented through American Realty on several occasions and they are always accommodating. This year we rented two houses for two weeks. The critical point came with the changeover, since check-out is 10 and check-in is 3–what to do with all of our refrigerated food? No problem! They made sure that the house we were moving into was cleaned first thing and allowed us to put our food in the fridge there until the cleaning was completed. We were able to move in much earlier than the 3:00 check-in time. Thanks American Realty. See you next year!!!

Loved the location and the house. Having the pool next door was awesome. The boat dock was very nice and accomodating. Any issues we had were dealt with on a timely manner. Although, the house needs some minor repairs and so does the furniture inside. It was also a little dirty. The price was appropriate for the house.

The folks at Captiva Reality are so wonderful to work with! I shared with them our family's needs for the week and they came up with the perfect house for us. They have such a wide variety of excellent properties to chose from that they were able to find us the best location to suit all of our family from ages 14 to 78. Any questions about dining, sightseeing or shopping they were more than helpful. They bent over backward to help out our daughter when she needed a Fed Ex delivery while we were out sightseeing! I can't say enough about the friendly, family-like treatment we received from Captiva Realty, and the friendship we feel with the staff, especially Elaine and Chuck. Super people!

The worst service we have ever experience never ever deal with American Realty!!! we rented and got confirmation and they charged my credit card. Then they cancelled out reservation a day before checking for. With no real ligament explanation. They ruined my families only summer vacation. They where very rude and on professional the Manager ( Lisa Wheeler) gave us a BS excuse.

We rent the same house in Sunset Captiva every year for spring break, and American Realty makes the experience so easy. They are the best rental company we deal with by a country mile. We just show up at the house and it is ready to go. No chasing your keys down at the office. When I lost my AMEX, they helped arrange for a replacement to be shipped overnight to their office. And, they have totally reasonable rates and deposit policies to hold your spot for next year. Thank you, Elaine and crew. We will see you again this year!
