Jarrett, the evening manager, needs customer service training. I had a dispute with the cashier, who was simply clueless and appeared to be "off the clock" even though it was 9:57, and I asked for the manager. Jarrett, displaying body language of a negative attitude, told me to basically pay for my items and leave. I wanted to save money on the avocados and I did not understand about the Prime membership, which I do have. Instead of trying to help, the cashier, looking like she just smoked a blunt, was just standing there with no clue as to what was happening. Jarrett did help, but certainly didn't want to, or at least that was his attitude. I found out why Jarrett wanted me to hurry up and pay so that he could lock the doors at 9:58 (he opened them for me to leave as he suggested at the register). Wow, I had no idea your management training allows your team members to rush customers out of the door. Is this because it was 9:57? Most businesses want customers to rush inside the store. Whole Foods wants to lock the doors BEFORE closing and if you happen to be in the store, certain team members and management members want you to hurry, purchase, and get out! One more thing, Jarrett encouraged me to write this review, so obviously he could care less about any promotions, accolades, or even a congratulations on a job well done from members of your organization. Your employees must have a low morale in this environment. It's too bad, because I loved the atmosphere of the store, but I will never visit again. Thanks Jarrett! ✊️

Very nice and clean store. Jarrett is not the one to ask for help! Maybe customer service isn't his capacity at work. If so, he should take off the smock so people won't bother him from whatever it is that he is doing. Maybe I just asked him a question on his "off day". I have off days too at work. Maybe he should stay in his office on those days with minimal customer interaction. I'm sure Jarrett is a nice young man; he just isn't excited about his job! Again, very clean store...

As a long-time resident of the H Street Corridor, I can say with certainty that the Whole Foods on this vibrant stretch of NE DC has become an absolute gem of the neighborhood. This modern, spacious supermarket has not only raised the bar for grocery shopping in the area but has also evolved into a true community hub. From the moment you walk through the doors, you're struck by the sheer scale and variety of offerings. The aisles are meticulously stocked with an incredibly diverse selection of high-quality, sustainably sourced products - from fresh, locally-grown produce to an impressive array of specialty foods, household items, and health/beauty products. It's a one-stop shop for anyone seeking to maintain a healthy, environmentally-conscious lifestyle. But what truly sets this Whole Foods apart is the palpable sense of community it has fostered. The store's layout is designed to encourage shoppers to linger and explore, with ample seating areas, a bustling coffee shop, and a fantastic food hall featuring a diverse range of dining options. It's become a gathering place for the neighborhood, where residents can not only grocery shop, but also enjoy a meal, catch up with friends, or simply soak in the vibrant energy of the H Street corridor. The staff at this Whole Foods location is also truly exceptional. The employees are unfailingly friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to assist customers with any questions or needs. They take pride in curating the store's selection and are always happy to offer product recommendations or suggest new items to try.Perhaps most impressively, the Whole Foods on H Street has managed to maintain its high-quality standards and commitment to sustainability, even as the neighborhood has rapidly evolved. The store sources from local farms and producers whenever possible, supports community initiatives, and continually strives to reduce its environmental impact. In a city with no shortage of grocery options, the Whole Foods on H Street NE stands out as a shining example of what a modern, community-centric supermarket can and should be. Whether you're in the market for healthy, fresh ingredients, a delicious prepared meal, or simply a welcoming place to spend an afternoon, this store delivers an experience that is truly unparalleled. I couldn't recommend it more highly to anyone in the DC area.

Really nice for my first time shopping at a Whole Foods store. I was trying to find certain fruits and veggies, after going to so many other stores before an every week I look for certain things and every store I went to were out and I would have to wait a few days to get what I needed shipped. Now, seeing as I've never been inside a Whole Foods store before, going in thinking that if other stores didn't have what I was looking for they might not either. But I walked in the first few items I've been looking for were right there, fully stocked up, and plenty to choose from. I was super excited. Now I have a favorite preference of where I prefer to shop for fruits and veggies and other healthy choice foods and drinks. And I would definitely recommend it to others

Whole Foods never disappoints. The produce was fresh, the store was clean, the staff were helpful and friendly. We went shopping on a holiday and the store was a little crowded but not overwhelming. There was one drawback on this trip and it was the fact that there were flies crawling on the loose/pick your own cookies in the bakery section. My crew really wanted 2 specific cookies from this section but we had to pass after seeing this travesty. The store will have to put these cookies in a case or something. Otherwise, a good experience. Free parking, easy accessibility to the garage/store.

My young daughter has a special place in her stomach and heart for Whole Foods. She insist that we visit locations whenever we travel. Well we visited the H St. NE Wash, DC location and we were pleasantly surprised while at the hot food bar.We asked Kelly, an employee/I'm sure a manager, what type of white fish was being served. That question lead to me telling Kelly how my daughter was just so thrilled to be visiting the store today and how she loves the hot food bar. I also explained how she likes to visit every store she can. After we walked away Kelly came over to us and offered my daughter to select a complimentary treat from the desert case.Kelly, you are a class act and a wonderful representation of Whole Foods! Thank you for joining in on my daughter's excitement 😁 and making it an exceptionally wonderful time for her. I will now make it a point to shop at Whole Foods. You've gained a new regular customer.Just goes to show there are still good people and quality staff definitely enhance any brand!.Thank you Kelly!

BEWARE: I got food poisining from the HOT FOOD BAR chicken wings and chili lime sweet potatoes. I was sick for three (3) days! The food at this bar remains in the bins long enough for the food to dry up and form crusts.I wrote the corporate headquarters to share my experience and reported this While Foods H Street store to city and federal food safety regulators.Be careful, if you choose to eat the HOT BAR food at this store location.

Great place to shop for all your groceries needs. Whole Foods Market offers a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables to choose from, they also offer a place to return your Amazon order for a Amazon pickup this really convenient. Whole Foods Market store was clean, shelf was pretty well organized and stock, staff was very friendly and helpful. This store offers free underground parking to customers. The parking garage is located on 6th Street.

I really have to say that the food that I bought from the hot food bar is rather delicious. I very much so appreciate the time that they took into preparing this food. I will also have to say that going to restaurants or going to fast food places is not equivalent to going to a grocery store and getting food that’s properly and well prepared. Therefore if you want a quick bite to eat go to Whole Foods.

This is the line to return packages right now at the kiosk. 10 people deep. Amazon is cutting out jobs to provide services to their users and instead making people wait in 12 person lines.

Consistently understaffed. No such thing as picking up something quickly at this Whole Foods - waiting 15+ minutes to check out is the norm, no express lanes. Many other locations in DC have efficient checkout processes, but not this one.

I recently had a frustrating experience at Whole Foods, primarily due to the abysmal customer service provided by the Amazon Locker associate. It's disheartening when a supposedly premium grocery store falls short on basic service standards. My encounter with the Amazon Locker associate was nothing short of disappointing. Not only were they unhelpful, but they also displayed a complete lack of interest in assisting customers. When I approached them with a question about retrieving a package, they seemed more engrossed in their personal conversation than addressing my concern. It's concerning that such a crucial service point within the store is manned by someone who evidently lacks both professionalism and customer service skills. Moreover, the associate's knowledge about the Amazon Locker system was questionable at best. I left feeling more confused than when I arrived, as their explanations were vague and unhelpful. It's frustrating when you're relying on a service like this, and the person responsible for managing it appears indifferent and uninformed. This experience has left me questioning the overall commitment to customer service at Whole Foods. I expect better from a store that prides itself on providing a premium shopping experience. Until improvements are made in the Amazon Locker associate's demeanor and knowledge, I'm hesitant to rely on this service or recommend Whole Foods to others.

Clean location with friendly staff. Located right on H street very convenient by the metro. Everything is very easy to find and prices are reasonable. The hot food bar is awesome and you'll find yourself walking every where to see what's on the menu. Seafood, bakery and other goods are served fresh. Parking on the street is the best bet

Just like any other Whole Foods, *except* this one is not very busy at all. Easy to maneuver in the aisles. There are two kinds of carts, and only one is allowed on the carr escalator (signage on carts will indicate). A cool coffee shop upstairs if you want to eat the ready made food there, or grab a coffee. A second beverage shop (read: more than just coffee) exists near the elevators to the parking lot.

Lots of organic and healthy foods and a large variety of vegetables. It is a very expensive store though, you may want to shop at nearby Trader Joes and maybe nearby Giant to get a variety of items and to reduce your grocery bill. Some exceptional items are only available at Whole Foods. They could do a better job of keeping the bathrooms clean. But all in all, a good shopping experience. There is usually a Metro cop inside to prevent crime.

This was a great Wholefoods with a great selection! Foods which are imported are also featured here, at a very reasonable price. The salad bar is the best thing about this store, you can get a quick, easy, and relatively healthy lunch!

The produce is meh. The place is always overcrowded and with mean customers. And of course the prices are sky high. Thanks a lot Jeff Bezos.

To the younger black undercover police officer that secret shops your attitude is terrible! He gave me a very bad look after I guess I saw that he was an undercover. You can save all the tough looks and mugs for a cup of coffee!Whole Foods you can do better also as that type of energy will drive away customers!

Good vegetables, deli and dry goods. Great beer and wine selection. Good for getting meals ready to eat or close to ready. Higher prices than other grocery stores in general. I find it very worth making the trip to get the things that I want from here and then go over to the neighboring Giant for the rest.

***Anyone who is reading this and comes HERE to make returns -- I've had good experiences at the UPS that's about 1-2 blocks BEFORE the Whole Foods on H St (921 NE). I usually go there but didn't want to box my items today (I was being lazy! LOL won't make that mistake again). I can vouch for the UPS. Even if it's busy, the employees do their job and will help you. Which sums up my review below: just do your damn job dude.I believe I've written a review before about this location but leaving another review based on an experience today (1/3/2024). I've worked in retail and food service before. So I know what it means to do your job and serve customers. Many of the employees at this Whole Foods don't want to do that. Because when I came in today to make a return at the kiosk (which had no bags/eventually wasn't letting anyone make returns at the moment due to an error) and I went to the customer service desk, I waited in front of this woman for five minutes before she finally asked "Oh, do you need something?" No ... I'm just standing here with a bag full of stuff for nothing? And then instead of telling me she'll be with me in a moment ... she tries to push me to use the kiosk because "you don't need a bag." It doesn't matter, I want a bag. AND -- I've got an item that isn't in a box and fragile ornaments. Which the kiosk literally tells you to go to the customer service desk if you have fragile items. Before I came over to the desk and saw that, I didn't even WANT to go over there because I've had such weird negative lackluster experiences when I needed help or wanted to make a return. Ever since the ONE kiosk popped up at this location ... it's like the employees were told by managers/supervisors of this store that "Hey, there's a kiosk now so like ... at all costs don't help customers make returns. Even if they have one product. Even though all you all do is scan the item(s) and throw it in a box and don't even give customers a physical receipt or even speak to them to let them know the return is complete. Just don't help them. Even though it's in the job description and it's Amazon's policy. Even though the kiosk is down or the fact there's a line. So yeah, just ZON'T help customers. Look at them like they're the problem." So I ended up leaving because of this + there was a very sad and awkward interaction between two customers because of this very situation. One woman berating the other for simply wanting help. Jeez. I didn't want to speak to the lady who was at the customer service desk ... she's nice? But just doesn't do her job/want to do it/move with any sense of urgency. So I spoke to another employee about this. To circle back to a point I made earlier, I've worked in food service/retail. My knee jerk reaction was to always ask customers if they want to speak to the manager because it's really not that deep if someone wants to. And I also know most of the time the manager(s) aren't going to do anything. I just wanted to get it off my chest in a respectful way. I told the employee that I get it, it's not really y'alls fault, I just don't understand the policy here. You've got an employee allowing customers to stand around waiting to be helped and not wanting to do her job at the moment (and Jesus, to think maybe this woman maybe IS a supervisor now that I think about it). You've got a kiosk that isn't working with no bags. You've got two women beefing in line ultimately because of the employee NOT doing her job. Whether you're nice or respectful or whatever ... just do the job. And if you've got an attitude, yeah people are STILL going to rightfully complain. But guess what? They can't say you DIDN'T do your job. So in every scenario at least do the job. A manager will most likely dismiss whatever a customer says about your attitude for the most part (I saw this first hand at my fast food and retail job). And customers suck, they aren't always right. But if you're not doing your job ... then you've got no leg to stand on and the customer in that situation IS right.

Produce is pretty good and the staff puts out a good effort to be helpful. Would be nice to have a few chechouts open instead of the bare minumum. You can always count on a healthy wait at checkout time.

The store tries very hard to provide something for everyone with Gucci tastes. There's always an interesting impulse item or the quirky ingredient here that you need for a recipe, but having some basics like a small normal corn bread mix (not one with a dozen gluten free ingredients) would be welcome. There are plenty of staff there to keep things stocked.Very nice fresh seafood choices.PSKeep working on getting the prices down.PPSStarbucks first sign language store is right across the street.

Improvements in the following: 1) overall, employees need more training, for instance to identify produce, something as basics as cilantro; 2) freshness of meats (I purchased some ribs and spoiled within a few days; 3) attentive to patrons when working as a cashier instead of socializing with other employees - my family and I have no problem about employees socializing just do some when on break or not on the "clock"

A little smaller than P St but for the moment much less crowded and everything is immaculate and super fresh. This one sells fresh pasta cut to order, paper horse ramen, mochi bar, beer on tap on mezzanine and lots of hot and cold ready to eat selections downstairs plus a juice bar in the produce section. Friendly staff. Bougie paradise now on H St :)

Very understaffed. Peak shopping hours and most of the lanes have nobody working them, which means long waits and aisles jammed with people waiting in line.

There is usually a fast check out. The prices can be high; the seafood especially has gone up a lot. Good selection of beer and wine.
