Not sure what happened..... Store hours says it was open on Saturday, but the doors weren't open past 10:30 am. Would have loved to use the self-service dog wash over the weekend

While it’s nice that they offer self wash stations, I would say they’re only functional about 50% of the time so call before you go. They’re either “out of service that day”, only allowing 1 or 2 of the 3 tubs to be used, out of towels (always bring your own), and they’re last bath of the day changes at the whim of the employees. The store closes at 7 pm and I’ve called and been told everything from 4:00 pm to 5:15 pm as closing hours for the bath. The H street and Arlington locations are much more consistent.

Went to wash my own dog. Fairly well equipped. No rushing but there was no one else there. I found it to be good for AMY and me!

When we first started using the self wash station it was $10 and included everything you needed. The price increased to $15 and we kept going because we liked the service. Recently the price increased to $20, but now they no longer offer gloves or even towels, and the quality of the soap is basically water. When we asked about the towels we were told we could buy one for $12.99. Anyone who has a pet knows how difficult it is to dry a dog without a towel. The water was very hot so when we asked the store employee if he could please help us lower the temperature because you cannot do it at the individual station he just said “no” despite the instructions on the wall indicating the need for temp adjustment. Additionally, the brush at the station was full of hair from the last pet washed and it was clear there was no effort made to clean the stations. The employees had an attitude from the moment we walked in the door on our last visit. Disappointing given how much we used to like the service when we first started using it. Given the horrible experience this last time around, we will no longer be returning.

The staff there is always pleasant and friendly. I'm always greeted with a hello, and do I need help with anything. They tend to be fully stocked for all the items my kitties love. This store is nowhere near my home but since it's such an inviting atmosphere I've made this my main petstore.

Always call before you make the trip. Was there today at 11:00am (opens at 10am) and no one was there. I’ve also tried to go around 5:00 pm before and it was already closed (supposed to close at 7pm).

I ordered a bag of dog food today that arrived that looks as if rats had been chewing on the bag. Unbelievable that a store would send out a bag of food in this condition.

This store is the first store I just randomly walked in to see what they have to offer “ the staff is very nice and friendly and very knowledgeable about any questions you have and what they have “ I bought my 2 yr. Old Cat a nice collar with a bell on it and bought a Jewelry Pet I.D. that has a lil bling to it that’s worth about $23 . Which is the highest I went for the first timer getting something for my New Adopted Cat 🐈 and bought a 30 lb. Bag of Taste of the wild quail & Duck recipe for Cats . My cat pretty much loved it ! Looks like I’ll be coming back soon or later “ product’s seems to be pretty good quality for your pet’s needs for treats & etc. it’s a pretty good store!

For some reason there are never any towels available for the dog wash area. Never have this issue at the H St. location and that store always seems significantly more popular.

Be careful!!! I got scammed here. Paid in exact change because their “cash register wasn’t working”. They didn’t give me a receipt because their “system was down”. Next time I went in the person working demanded I give them $20, while I know I paid in exact change. I didn’t want to argue about it due to some medical conditions I have and I was confused so I just gave them the money and left. Thinking about it now I know I didn’t owe them anything. My service dog and I will not be back. If their cash register isn’t working DO NOT PAY it is a scam!!!

Great pet store for selection. Carsia is amazing and so helpful. Would not have know what to buy when we adopted our dog and luckily she was there to look at a pic and let us know what we needed and sizes. Came back for dog training as a result once we learned she teaches it and am so happy. She is so positive, helpful and cares about her clients (present and those pups who have graduated). Can not recommend her services enough and this place for your pet needs.

Unleashed are smaller Petco stores that only have dog and cat merchandise and food. larger Petco stores have merchandise for many different types of animals and they sell animals. that is the difference between the two brands which did not seem very clear to me on their website. This particular unleashed always has great customer service. I have my first puppy and the woman who helped me when I went a couple weeks ago had great suggestions for food, toys, a bed and everything else I needed. they have an area you can wash your dog yourself for a small fee.

The selection of stuff you can't find in the grocery store etc is great even though the store is smaller, & prices either match or are competitive to Chewy. The employees though, are awesome! I'd pick this place over a giant box store w/ a million brands of junk pet food for the employees any day. So helpful, friendly and simply damn nice. Like, every time. They've given detailed advice about litter, food, cat leashes, whatever on multiple occasions. It's an actual pleasant shopping experience & makes me smile when I have to get the gd stupid fancy cat litter (overpriced but worth it for the lack of smell). Plus, some adorable puppy is usually getting a bath in the self wash stations in the back.

Worse phone customer serivce ever ! I called regrading a online order I placed for same day pick up . And the cashier I spoke to her attitude was horrible, when I asked if it’s okay that I have someone else pick up the package for me being that online it clearly states to bring your ID to verify , her response was “ well I’m not a computer so you’ll be good “ I simply said “ excuse me ? “ because I was completely blown away by this answer , she proceeds to repeat what she just said almost like it was okay . When being in customer serivce you have to have customer serivce ! Friendly attitude … so once she repeated herself I asked her if she was having a bad day because her attitude was bad her answer to that was “ yeah I’m having a bad day and your making it worse by asking me these questions “ almost like her job wasn’t customer serivce . So I asked to speak to a manager and that was just as bad ! When speaking to TONY he acted like it was okay what she said and was bushing me off almost rushing me off the phone … if that’s how you want to run a store then maybe you shouldn’t be open .. just a food for thought . I’m not one to write reviews or even call Corporate but today was different and I definitely did

Convenient, but relatively small pet store. Standard supplies, some organic/healthy choices for your pet. They have a pet bath facility too with towels and whatnot. I believe they offer some classes for dogs (are there even cat training classes anywhere? Or have we given up on cats completely?).

Review is specifically for the dog self wash area. The wash area has many issues left ignored from day one and they raised the fee to add insult to injury. Firstly, no water regulator, so often have way too hot temperature. Also, the towel are terrible. They guard their old ragged towels like gold, they’re torn to pieces from wear and tear and you only get two per wash otherwise you have to ask permission and they may grab another from under lock and key. That is, if they have any towels at all because they often run out or their washer dryer is “broken”. The cheap shampoo is watered down and barely offers any lather for washing. If you buy your own, it’s marked up 40+%. Sometimes the whole wash area gets shut down for whatever reason, short staffed, too hot out, etc. I’ve learned to call first to make sure they are up and running before making the walk there since their Corp office obviously cares little for the service offered, I’ve called and emailed to notify them and no response, no action. In fact, appears to be worsening. Too bad, their location is convenient to home, such a let down.

Everything you need for your dog (or cat). Need a place to give pooch a bath?. They have it. Training classes too. It's not easy to find the best raw foods for our dog, so was happy the selection included a refrigerated section with good foods.

9th Street NW location. Great little store close to the Shaw dog park. Staff was very friendly to both myslef and my puppy. Slightly smaller location but still has a great selection of everything you need for your dog and/or cat. Great selection of food, treats, and collars. They have an in store pet tag customizer (~$10). Also have pet washing stations in the back.

I’m an expectant first-time puppy parent. I went to Petco Unleashed on 7th Street to purchase some toys and a tag. Carsia was so incredibly helpful. She showed me the proper size toys for my puppy and explained the reasons for her recommendations. I’m so thankful for her help - without it I would have purchased Kongs and balls that are a bit too big for my puppy. Glad to know we have such a great resource so close to home!
