I tried to like this store, but they generally make it very difficult. I've encountered one or two helpful people over my last year of shopping there, but most of the workers are surly and rude. Items (today it was the flowers and fruit) are not priced and when you ask, the worker tells you to go stand in line. Actually the oranges had an old sale price so I was surprised when I got the price at the checkout. Then when I got home I found the gal overcharged me for the bags (what is going on with that???). Finally, I asked for the location of frozen meatballs and the worker pointed me in three different directions. The frozen food isle is where I had spent the last 10 min going up and down without success. I followed her as I though she was going to show me, but she turned to me and said..."I'm on my break!" I reported my experience (with a smile on my face) to customer service...nope, they did not care either! OK, no meatballs, overcharged bags, surprised prices on the oranges and rude behavior. Guess I will spend my $$$ elsewhere. No one needs to be overcharged and treated rudely!

After 25 years of being a Safeway shopper because of limited other options and 10 years of being a part-time Safeway shopper, after my experience today with ‘customer service’ I no longer will be shopping at Safeway. I have always found stockers and about half the register staff to be great—friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. For the other half of register staff and especially for ‘customer service’ staff not so much. This morning was the last straw; three staff were unable to successfully troubleshoot issue with app. The first tried in earnest, but the others two were telling me what I should have done (read: my fault) but offered no real assistance; never did I hear anything remotely like ‘I don’t know how to fix this but let me find someone who can.’ I finally decided to forget the app and the related savings after which the customer service staff sarcastically said ‘your welcome.’ I came home and found number for customer service—but all options were automated. And no email given for customer service. Goodbye Safeway, and hello to your competitors.

This is a wonderful store, they have a great flower selection I picked some out for my anniversary. Tutu (forgive me if I misspelled) and Latrice were extremely helpful. Latrice helped me carry everything out to the car and was very friendly and nice. She definitely went up and above beyond the call of customer service. She helped me fit everything in a way where the flowers wouldn’t fall over in the car too. I will definitely be back!

Great grocery store. The parking underneath the store is very convenient and they have a wonderful selection of food and other items. They also have an elevator, which is very helpful and great because that way you can bring your cart to your car downstairs. Reasonable prices and friendly staff, a good place to buy groceries in the city.

Rude customer service. I was visiting Dc and i requested the store associate for her Safeway card. I know it’s not ideal but there’s no Safeway near me in mass.. she claimed that i had been there before and she’s not going to help me again. I explained to her that sorry there must be some confusion as it was my first time at the store. She ended up helping me but kept saying it’s my last time. What level of customer service is this.

This is the best Safeway in DC the workers here are amazing and a great group of people. The issue is all of the immigrants they all park in handicap making disabled people have to find somewhere else to park. They smoke cigarettes at the front door blowing it towards us all when we walk in. They yell and scream at each other outside and I have witnessed with my own eyes them stealing things and walking out of the store. This needs to be stopped no reason any delivery driver is parked in handicap all day and night. they all have 3-5 phones how is that even okay for a delivery driver to have multiple accounts?? Safeway please stop this. I love this store but this isn't acceptable. I am unfortunately not coming back to this location till something is done this is not okay. Older people parking 4 rows back other are getting orders delivered from people that are not the account owner. Come on Safeway you guys need to stop this

From what I can tell...this is one of the only grocery store that I can find on Google Maps that is open 24 hours. Perhaps this store site is a testing ground to see how sales do overnight.Hopefully, with any luck, we will see a return to 24 hour grocery stores and 24 hour Walmart across the country.Grocery stores being open 24 hours is extremely helpful to those who get out of work late or work the overnight shift.

Today I asked to look at wines in the wine cellar. The employee with the key asked what I wanted to buy. I said I don’t know what you have and I would like to look. She again challenged me saying that most of the wines were $300-500 bottles and asked if I looked at bottles outside the cellar. I asked her why she was challenging me about looking at the wines in the cellar. She said I am asking what you are looking for. It was absolutely ridiculous and I told her so. I bought two bottles but should have gone to the local wine store. I will in the future.

Love the renovated Safeway- aisles seem wider, the lighting is better and the selections are great. There are a ton of self-check out kiosks as well as cash wraps. The employees are all very helpful and nice. Yay for union workers!My only observation is that my phone signal (T-Mobile) is very weak there so it can be tough for me to text my family to see if we need additional items. That isn’t the store’s fault though.Pro tip: park on the outdoor deck to get in and out. There are always random people driving into the covered parking to charge their EV cars so it can get congested around the charging stations/parking lanes.

The large mixed fruit basket I purchased for someone in the hospital, was rotten. On the appearance it looked delicious, after we ATE a couple pieces. We quickly discovered the mold on the fruit. Notsure how many pieces we had already consumed. Hopefully no kickbacks health wise. However, they had no problem refunding my money back to my card. Yeah they need produce or so.eone rotating the fruit and pull out old mded food. That's my experience and I'm not proud of it.

I've done a lot of shopping at the Georgetown Safeway and have got good produce at competitive prices. The aisles are well laid out and features a whole row of imported goods. No Vegemite though. The fresh produce can get a bit scarce by evening on some days, especially weekends. Staff are always friendly and cheerful; this is most appreciated.Excellent cheeses and lovely candles. There's a wine and beer (including cold) section with good choice. Youngsters have to show ID but oldies like me get offers of help to carry stuff: that's the difference 😑

I didn't really enjoy my experience as it seems the Safeway is open but during transformation and I am the type of person where I do not like really having to look for stuff so maybe after they are done fixing it up then I might give it another try****Update***Now with the store fully remodeled I love it the isles are clear and easy to maneuver the deli area and produce and meat look spectacular. Doesn't seem dirty very much at all. Always clean looking and spotless.***UPDATE A FEW MONTHS LATER****Still blocked isles with stuff when trying to shop at mid morning hours and no place really to get the items I wanted. Another issue, if I had to leave my cart because of the ordeal with stuff being blocked in isles, I would have to wait on the workers to let me out. One particular, incident in mid morning hours like 4-5am I went in and asked the worker if they sold shirts and the workers said no in a very unwelcoming tone. Then, when after dealing with worker who was in the middle of her conversation and started to walk away. I decided it was best to leave and then go elsewhere to buy my stuff. At this, I noticed as the worker was walking towards the produce and I had to be let out thru self checkout and that is when I said to myself I will let my self out as this is a form of control. I told the worker if you all respect and morals you let your customer leave and should be happy so that way i did not interrupt your little conversation. To add you cannot buy gift cards til 530 am and you cannot buy at self checkout. These people really need to consider better hours for the public. Giant I have a had a lot better experience and pleasurable.

The security guards at this store racial profiled me every time I shop at this location. It’s the same pattern…..you walk in at the produce section….they walk past you to size you up then they do a lap making eye contact with you. Then the same security guard waits at the self checkout line “overseeing” you purchasing everything. I reported each of these incidents to corporate based on it being systemic racial profiling.

I was at the service desk to ask if I can pay gift card at self check out since lines were very long and the employee behind the desk responded like this “ I do not care where you pay” and left. I never seen a rude behavior like that. On the other hand this other employee helped me and ring me up at the service desk.

What has happened to this place? For years I went there once or twice a week, but then started going to other places. I started going again two weeks ago. I asked one of the assistants where something was: he mumbled a one word reply. That was it. No offer to show me. Today I was trying to buy some cough medicine. The assistant at the self-check-out said, “Show me your ID.” “Do you think I look under 18?” I asked light-heartedly (I’m 77). He repeated “Show me your ID.” I know that’s the rule, but why am I treated like I’m doing something wrong? Seriously, why would anyone go there when we have Traders, Whole Food, Giant (and soon to be Lidl) within a 5 minute drive?

This store is finally finished and it looks nice! Too bad they don’t staff it. Third time I’ve literally walked out because there was only one cashier working and the line was 3carts deep.I’m disabled and I have challenges with walking so shopping is hard. Today I went for my weekly trip to the store and when I arrived I found there were no carts anywhere in the store and I was forced to walk out into the parking lot to find a cart. After shopping for several minutes finding everything I needed, I went to checkout. There was only one cashier open and there were three people in front of me. Apparently the manager was helping a customer with a coupon for a really long time. I had to leave “again” because there was only one line open and I couldn’t stand and Waite that long. Honestly it’s sad I like Safeway but this store has serious issues, I’ve been ridiculed by the staff for being disabled and still that staff member works there and knows I complained about her so she gives me the death stare. All in all I would have to say this store’s environment is hostile towards disabled people and would not recommend it.

Absolutely Horrible grocery pickup customer service ive ever encountered. On Friday, 04/22/2022 I came to pick up an order for pick up. I called the number 7 times and there was no answer. After waiting over 20 mins I then walked in the store and spoke to someone at customer service and told them about the issue at hand then someone was able to come and fulfill the order. Upon receiving the order in my trunk, I then checked for the accuracy of the order. Upon confirming everything that was ordered I noticed the watermelon that I ordered was turned over in my trunk. I took that watermelon inside and had to get it switched out. As of today, 04/24/2022 I ran into another issue with my pickup order that was placed earlier today. I drove up to pick up number parking slot number 1. I called the number and then once again there was no answer. I then call my wife and asked her to give the store a call and let them know that I have arrived and what pick up spot I am in. Upon my wife calling at 6:03 pm she was told by a young lady that they do not drop off in the pick up spot and that I needed to go to the loading dock and walk up the dock to receive my groceries that I ordered.This is piss poor customer service and I hope Safeway makes the necessary changes moving forward to work better with their grocery pack up customers.

Absolutely shocked at how the Filipino lady coming out of her way to see how much of an item you’re buying at an isle and walking to the self checkout with people is totally absurd and uncalled for she needs to be fired or deported back to her homeland.

If only we could give "minus" stars. I'm done with this store. My last visit was two weeks ago and I will not be going back. I've been shopping here for years and it has gotten progressively worse year after year. There is no customer service. It's not just "bad" customer service. These people don't know the definition of customer service. I will not miss the general dismal atmosphere of this store.

The store is a lot bigger than it appears from the outside. It's really all on the 2nd floor -- has an elevator, escalator, and stairs to get up there from the Wisconsin Avenue street entrance. It's huge inside -- has an in-store Starbucks, a place for people to sit down and eat at tables.

Called multiple to check on a prescription to be placed on hold by the manager of the pharmacy to come into the pharmacy to witness no one in line and she does not want to pick up the phone because she is overwhelmed with her positionWasted a huge amount of time consistently on this pharmacy not staying on top of the work no refills on the prescription readyYou have one employee playing on the computer and you have one employee refusing to pick up the phone and when she does she’s using the excuse of “patient privacy” whose privacy is at risk if I am trying to checking the status of a prescription this pharmacy just needs to shut down the management needs to be reevaluated it’s highly unprofessional to come into a store and ask about a prescription to get a passive aggressive answer back about when I can pick up the prescriptionAnd to hear the words “ what happened to the other 16 pills? ” no health care professional would ever say thisMy suggestion is if you are not ready to participate in a position that requires you to pick up the phone and address the customers at the same time you shouldn’t come into a place of business if you aren’t capable of keeping a certain professionalism and then when I tried to address her to say next time pick up the phone and let me know if my prescription is ready instead of picking up and saying” please hold” and then hanging up on customersShe then took the next customer while still not answering my question about when my prescription would be readyNo one forces work upon anyone so if you wake up and hate your life don’t bring to work especially when people are trying to rely on you to do your job to get medication

This Safeway store is the nicest in DC. The store is neat, clean, and well-organized. Most of the employees are friendly and professional. Prices are competitive on most items. Much better meat and seafood departments at this location than other locations. Free parking garage is convenient.My only criticism is that they've been revamping the deli area for awhile and that section of the store has been lacking for some time. Plus the foyer areas downstairs outside the elevators/stairwell are always messy, and the shopping carts look unsanitary.Oh, I've never smelled pot in the parking garage, lol. But marijuana is legal in DC, so I'm unsure why another shopper was annoyed by this enough to mention it in his review AND that he has a Tesla.

Large well stocked and tidy Safeway. Seemed a little understaffed in regards to checkers so I wasn’t able to get help at the self checkout when the machine encountered and error but it seemed it was well staffed in the deli and meat/seafood departments. Wheelchair accessible entrance and elevator.
