You need to set expectations when shopping at a small store like this. For what it is, it’s perfect: Small but decent selection of everything, not terribly high prices.I wouldn’t do my entire grocery shopping here, but for the convenience factor, it’s absolutely perfect to go grab one or two things that you forgot to pickup. The owners are lovely and it’s always clean and quiet. I’ll happily pay and extra dollar or two in order to get something quick here rather than walk a couple blocks back to Trader Joe’s.

Always clean and quiet with a decent selection of needed goods. Prices aren't too bad. It's like a grab-and-go place with very friendly owners.

This is the place you go if you need something in an emergency, like a lemon. Store is pricey and small. The produce prices can be insane....i think it was around $17 for a bag of mandarins. Streets is less than 1/2 mile away and trader joes only a few blocks farther.

Cool locally-owned grocery store with a very broad selection in a very convenient location. They're a little more expensive than a chain grocery (being a small business and all), but the owners are super nice and the store is great. I absolutely recommend going here, especially if you live in Dupont or you're staying one of the nearby hotels!

I'm lucky this place exists. My car overheated and all of the coolant poured out onto the street. I had no idea where to find a bottle of antifreeze in the area. Eventually I found Metro Supermarket and decided to buy a gallon of water as a temporary fix so I could at least get the car back home.Lo and behold, this place had antifreeze, and at a very solid price. They seem to have a wide variety of items and it's all very neatly organized. Employees were very kind as well. Filled up my car, made sure there were no leaks, and went on my way.

Metro's come a long way in the past few years. Lots of renovations and improvements have helped make this little family-owned supermarket a vital shop for the Dupont Circle neighborhood. The grocery business is tough, so prices don't really compete with Safeway or Whole Foods, but the selection is broad and produce fresh. Great for when you need to pick up just a few things or if you just don't want to walk that far to get your groceries. Nice wine and beer selection, too.

Tiny grocery store in DuPont circle. The produce selection is suprisingly good. The store is not large, and the prices are a little bit high because of the location and size, but if you need something in a pinch this is a great place to grab what you need and get back to what you need to do. The staff is also very nice and it seems like it's a family-owned business.

Great little grocery store; staff is very friendly and helpful. Prices are average to a slight premium; I don't mind the trade off for convenience and supporting a non-chain store. Still cheaper than Whole Foods.

The store owner and all the employees are absolute delights and it’s a great place for things you need in a pinch. And they have kim chi!

Small Asian owned grocery. Selection is all right, especially considering how small it is.Prices are high. Half the milk I buy here is bad when I buy it. Stuff is not fresh or old. Bought some cookies and found out they were manufactured like two years ago.I want to support small local businesses but they just jack up the prices too much, and their food is not fresh enough.Go to Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, or Safeway. They're all 10-15 minutes from here by foot.

To anyone who plans to shop there: please be advised that this place sells expired vacuum-packed products. When I was returning one, they even refused to summon the manager for me to file a proper complaint. Unless your idea of having fun is contracting botulism, you would be well advised not to buy anything there. Also mind that half the milk they sell is already bad.

Metro Supermarket offers a rich selection of fresh foods and packaged foods including ethnic fare and ingredients. Great beer selection. Warm staff. Highly recommend!

Ever since they renovated a few years back, prices went up substantially, grocery store selection was reduced, but beer and wine shelf space quadrupled. It is clear they no longer want to be a neighborhood grocery that is a reasonably priced stand-in for a trip down to Trader Joe's or over to Safeway. They want to compete with the 3 other beer & wine retailers within a block.Unless you are absolutely desperate for a last-minute ingredient, or are under the weather and just can't make it anywhere else, walk or bike and save some money.

Little mom and pop grocery store. Limited produce and meat with an emphasis on non perishables.Recently renovated and the prices are a little bit more expensive than a chain but service is nice and cleanliness is there. Metered parking outside

They have exorbitant prices. Everything's already expensive in the store, and they'll charge you a couple dollars more at the counter and say that the price has changed. This place is a scam. Beware.

This place deserves no stars at all. Extremely overpriced, the owners are so rude. This is not a supermarket but a local bodega.

Very expensive (identical bottle of wine across the street at State Liquors is $2 cheaper) and the fruit/tomatoes are never ripe and hard as rocks.

Selection is understandably limited, but the price is quite high as well. Many things are cheaper at the drug store a block away.
