Super cute bookstore located in a vibrant district. The staff was friendly and helpful. I got swept away with reading all the staff reviewed books. Highly recommend spending a little time in this store and the surrounding neighborhood.

A beautiful bookstore with a wonderful section of books. There are several places to sit and read, the staff are helpful and I highly appreciate the amount of inclusivity in the books. It's far more charming and aesthetically pleasing than your average chain bookstore, and the book selection is far better here with plenty of rare and signed books, and many more ones on topics such as philosophy, political science, anthropology, geography and many more.

Wonderful bookstore with a large, well-curated collection and friendly staff. I found it via the Independent Bookstore Day event and will definitely be back! I especially loved the thoughtful “staff picks” notes placed throughout the store. I was able to find a couple of names that had similar taste in books to me, and wound up buying a book based on a recommendation!

One of the best bookshops in DC (if not the best). The selection of books is beautifully curated, the staff is endlessly knowledgeable and patient, the events are always thoughtful, the space is charming and cozy. I especially have a soft spot for the staff recommendations shelf -- they all have excellent taste.

A cute little bookstore spread across two levels and a landing. There’s a large queer section, as well as the typical sections readers will find in a bookstore. They sell new, used, signed, and rare books. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you are wanting to browse a bit in a safe, friendly space, go check it out!

Freshly revamped, this bookstore's a jewel, where tales and tomes make bibliophiles drool. With curated shelves that beckon and call, genres aplenty, there's something for all. From mystery's depths to romance's highs, each book a treasure, a delightful surprise. And let's not forget, amidst the prose, a fine selection of cards for those who compose. A place of wonder, where stories unfold, this bookstore's charm, forever bold.

Great vibe and selection of books as well as cards and some gift-y things. If they don’t have a book in stock, they can order it for you. Dogs are welcome inside. I enjoy the staff recommendations shelf.

My go to neighborhood bookstore. Lost City is everything. The staff is kind and approachable with the selection being quite expansive. They host monthly book clubs that are a nice community to tap into and their Halloween parties are lit!

I don’t normally leave reviews for places, but I visited this bookstore last week while I was on a school trip to Washington, D.C. To preface this, I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and was on crutches at this point in the trip, as well as carrying around a ton of medication in my bag in case I had a flare-up.While I was checking out, my medication spilled everywhere. I was really frazzled and exhausted, and was mumbling about being unable to pay for lunch while some of the other students on the trip were helping me clean up the spill. The cashier gave me two receipts and said “Oh no, it seems that I printed two accidentally, I guess that means you can get two free pizzas next door.”My friends got me outside and helped me get my medications back in order, and we got pizza. It was a really good experience and honestly I nearly cried from that small extra kindness the cashier and my friends afforded me.Also, it’s a cute bookstore and had a bunch of books I’ve been wanting to read but haven’t been able to find in my hometown. 11/10, would recommend

Lost City Books is one of my favorite bookstores in the DC area in general, and even better than Kramer’s in Dupont Circle. You can find a book on literally any subject that you can think of. Unlike Kramer’s, there’s also a place for individuals to sit down and read through the books, and I think that’s really important if you are deciding which book or books you eventually want to buy. They’ve got a unique collection of poetry I highly recommend checking out.

Brilliant selections. Tons of recommendation cards inserted on the bookshelves. It's great to know what the locals are reading. The rare books are cool, too.

Recently moved to the area, decided to support a local business and buy some books. Upon stopping by, the staff at the front just stared at me when I smiled and said hello. Arms crossed, staring at me. Thought it was super weird. Then one staff member walked past to me really close multiple times and made eye contact but never said hello back. No sure what the weird vibes were about. A shame because I thought the store was cozy and nice collection, but felt very uncomfortable, won’t be back 😔

Favorite bookstore in DC. Really friendly and helpful staff! Take your receipt next door to Andy’s for a free slice of pizza. Perhaps the best neighborly deal in the District!

This store has been in the Adams Morgan area for over 30 years. They sell a variety of used books for half off the price listed on the cover. Cook books, fiction like mysteries & horror, children's books and rare books are located on the first floor. Craft, science fiction and history are located on the 2nd floor. They take credit cards but I think the minimum to use them is $5. They also sell greeting cards, book marks and a few magazines and records.

This bookstore is amazing - I specifically love all the detail poured into each section. They even have written 'suggestions' paired with books throughout the store, so you can get a quick review of a book that you're eyeing.

One of the most affordable yet alluring secondhand bookstores in the District of Columbia! The store is literally surrounded by a ton of books that offers a wide variety of genres. I am highly confident that you’ll enjoy the vibe and moderately assured that you’ll find the one that kindles your appetite for reading!!

Such a charming, well stocked place. I wanted to move in and stay forever. They had a nice mix of new and used, classic and new releases. Very eclectic and perfect for browsing, if you are looking for something specific speak to one of the helpful staff. There is a different vibe in a place run by book lovers, it permeates the air!
