Gabriel, my golden retriever, has been going to Life or Riley in Adams Morgan for over a year now and I cannot recommend it more. He is always excited for his appointment and the staff always greet him with such enthusiasm, and I just know that he will be well cared for. They do a wonderful job grooming him and he is always so handsome with his brand new bandana! Even the cat approves!

We took our miniature poodle here for his first cut. The groomer, Shonte, did an awesome job and also gave us tips and tricks on how to get him acclimated to being groomed. She was very knowledgeable, also giving us instructions on how to keep his coat healthy as he grows. We’ll definitely be going back!

Take great care of our Chewy and he always gets a wonderful cut here. The business is clean and spa-like which is cute and nice. Our only complaint is that they aren’t good at calling or letting you know when your dog is finished. I’ve had to call each time to ask if our dog is finished and every time, he’s been done and sitting there for over an hour.

Had a great experience at Life of Riley for grooming of my sweet Min Poodle-Beagle, Rosie. The staff was very nice and accommodating and listened to my concerns and instructions. And the price was reasonable. Rosie was in the midst of treatment for an ear infection, so I did not want her ears washed on the inside, or handled much. I also wanted her hair cut pretty short for the remainder of the hot summer. Rosie was calm and looked great when I picked her up. Thank you, Life of Riley people!!I will definitely be bringing Rosie back to LOR for care.

Niko always looks 100x better after his groom! I've never gotten him back from them in any condition less than perfect, and with an adorable bandanna to complete the look. They were even able to take him for his groom when I messed up the time and was ridiculously late.

I take my very nervous 20lb shorkie to get groomed by Sunshine and my dog always looks great! My pup hates being groomed. I have had other groomers just give up midway through. I don’t know what magic Sunshine possesses but whatever Sunshine does it works! We’ve now been going for a few years and I just noticed that I don’t even think my dog gets nervous anymore . . . He was calm when I dropped him off and a happy pup when I picked him up. I couldn’t be more pleased with the service I receive! Thank you!!!

The past two times I have taken my dog (large breed - bernedoodle) have not been great experiences. I took him on March 4, 2023 and they were understaffed. I did not find out they were understaffed until I called asking for status because it was approaching closing time and i still hadn’t been called to pick him up. As a result, my dog was there from 1pm until 7:24pm when I was texted that he was ready. It’s would’ve been better to be transparent of the staffing and I could’ve picked him up and dropped him off when the groomer was ready for him. The dog was in a kennel all day, not given water, and not taken outside for a potty break.This last time, i took him on May 13, 2023. The cut was ok, nothing spectacular. However, I was not happy that the groomer cut one of his left foot nails too short to the point that my dog was bleeding. It was not disclosed to me at the time I picked him up that it was cut too short. Again transparency would’ve been better rather than finding his foot bleeding when we were walking.Life of Riley (Adams Morgan) traditionally had been a good place. But over the past 3-4 months, based on my experiences, it has visibly gone down in quality.

This place has awful character and I would not recommend trusting this establishment with your pet. I scheduled to have my doodle groomed this past Saturday at 9am. I was notified the evening before at 7:30pm that my appt was cancelled dude to a “family emergency” with the groomer I scheduled with. They rescheduled for Monday. When I arrived, I confirmed the groomer cutting my dog. It was a completely different groomer. I asked “why” and was informed that the groomer I scheduled with doesn’t work there anymore (Sunshine). I feel completely lied to and will not ever bring my dog back.

We boarded our dog for 2 weeks at Life of Riley for the first time recently and our dog came back to us happy and healthy. From the webcam views we could see whenever we wanted (and we did look at a fair amount) our dog seemed to have a good time playing with other dogs and the floors were kept clean. They were great at letting us try it out for a couple of hours first. You can also tell all the staff there really care about the dogs and love dogs. We had our dog groomed before picking her up which was super convenient and she came home smelling and feeling great. Great experience for all of our family!

Terrible first Time experience! parking around here is hard to find! I called right at my apt time to let them know I'm walking 5 min away & they told me that the vaccine paperwork doesn't have expiration dates (but had clear vaccine admin dates which expire 1-2 yrs from admin dates. I said no problem I'll show them the email from vet (my dog is 11 mos old! So all vaccines are up to date as per docs submitted) but she rudely proceeds to tell me not to bother coming & that the groomer cancelled my appointment!!! Very rude, unprofessional & not customer service oriented! Now they're trying to cancel my sis whose been going here for yrs who referred me here bec I left this review!?! I'm reporting this to BBB!

They injured my dog on 5/25 during a grooming appointment. They immediately apologized and admitted fault, so I was originally impressed with their response and appreciated their sympathy. They said they would reimburse me for $500 of vet bills. My dog was injured and on medication for 3 weeks. They claim to have sent me a check in the mail and 5 weeks later, still nothing. They are starting to now not respond or answer calls. I called the police and have filed a police report. I will now be wasting more of my time to have an attorney deal with this. Their front desk also hung up on me when I requested to speak to a manger and then they started to screen my calls and not pick up. Do not go here. I had been going here for years despite what I knew about other dogs DYING here.Update: the owner overnighted a check only once I filed a police report to compensate for damages to my dog. However, he asked that he do this in exchange for me deleting my review. Very upsetting to see them trying to hide this and after 6 weeks of being led on.

My dog attended daycare almost daily and was groomed here multiple times between October and February, and I could not have been happier with the excellent services we received. While all staff were wonderful, I especially enjoyed how kind and personable Tiana, Charles and Katherine were. Can't recommend LOR enough.

Let this big corporate groomer fail they have no professionalism, subzero manners and negligent. The staff and business practices conducted here are simply unethical and they should be forced out of business. I sent my dog in for grooming and they nicked the skin behind one of her ears and didn’t tell me which resulted in major medical complications.They won’t even respond to my questions about the grooming session.

Took my dog to life of Riley for the first time last week and gave them a picture of how I wanted my dog groomed and they were able to get it right the first time! 10/10 recommend for grooming! I looked into boarding my dog there as well but their prices are out of my budget.

We dropped our dog off for a full groom and he was never groomed! The staff put him in a tiny room alone with a tiny bowl of water and forgot about him for four hours. I have never heard of groomer negligence like this before and will never subject my dog to this type of behavior again. I'd give this 0 stars if I could.

My dog and I are new to D.C., and he’s been really stressed out with all the changes, and so he was extremely apprehensive, even a little feisty when I dropped him off at Life of Riley. The staff was so patient with him and apparently he really warmed up to them, so I know they treated him so well! He’s a Malshi, and he was really matted and needed to be shaved down, but they did such a great job at still making him look handsome and stylish. He was so happy, it was such a great experience. We’ll definitely be back!

This was our first time going to Life of Riley. We just recently moved to the area, and we were looking for a place to take care of our girls’ nail buffing. They were very accommodating on short notice. They did an amazing job! Staff was courteous and friendly. The dogs can’t wait to go back for a full grooming experience next time.

I want to thank the grooming manager of Life of Riley for not only delivering great service but listening and respecting their customers. I have been going here for three years and love the service but had one mishap last week where a couple of basic requests weren't met for my dog's grooming. While I normally wouldn't call with a complaint, I was unemployed and paying $84 for the grooming was something I had to save up for. Having some basic requests unmet was frustrating for the price. She promptly refunded me a generous portion of the bill and explained the miscommunication. I also learned how to better express my preferences for the next grooming. Appreciated all her help and understanding and will continue to love Life of Riley!

Great, clean facility with friendly staff. I usually expect my fluffy chow mix to take up to 4 hours for a full groom and de-shed, but they finished up her groom and my other dog's bubble bath in approximately 2 hours. The groomers really seemed to know what they're doing, and it was so great getting a text update when it was time to pick the dogs up. The prices are comparable to other DC groomers. I will continue to go to Life of Riley for dog grooming so long as I am living in DC proper.

We recently moved to DC and I was worried about finding a new daycare my dog Stevie loved as much as her last one - but we did! Stevie tries to walk me toward Life of Riley every. single. day! When she does goes in for daycare, she leaves very tired & very happy. The staff is communicative and keeps a great eye on the dogs and how they’re socializing - very trustworthy crew. They have also given Stevie a bath and nail trim on separate occasions (Stevie hates both, so I’m sure she is a challenging client) and they went great. Highly recommend!
