I can’t recommend District Vet enough! I’ve been working with Dr. Lin on my medically challenged pup and she was incredibly responsive, kind, and thoughtful in all her support. Additional the front desk team was great at immediate problem solving, scheduling, medicine pick up, etc.

My wife and I recently moved to DC and needed to find a new vet. District veterinary hospital was highly recommended so I made an appointment for our two dogs. Our first appointment went very well, the staff and our veterinarian were friendly, kind and responsive to all of our needs. I look forward to seeing them again for future visits.

I took my cat Shiro for her digestive issue. The vet tech, Dr. Raftery was incredible. She gave me plenty of time to address all of my concerns and took time to explain everything to me, including suggestions on my cat's diet and treatment plans. Dr. Raftery has strong professional skills, is knowledgeable, and offers detailed advice on future preventive care. Great experience! I look forward to my next visit. Thank you, Dr. Raftery!

Anastasia, the vet tech who was there to help us during our cat Moo's recent dental surgery, deserves a glowing review. From the moment we arrived at the clinic, her warmth and professionalism put us at ease. She patiently and thoroughly answered all of our questions, alleviating any concerns we had about the procedure.Anastasia kept us updated on Moo's progress and made sure to follow up with us afterward, providing essential information on post-surgery care. Her communication and genuine concern for our pet's well-being were truly exceptional. Her dedication to her work and her compassionate approach made a challenging situation much more manageable for us.We can't thank her enough for the care she provided to Moo and the peace of mind she gave us. Her professionalism, expertise, and genuine kindness make her an invaluable asset to the clinic. We are grateful for her outstanding service and support during this time. Thank you, Anastasia!

District Vet - Brookland has taken care of our pup for the past 3 years. They are always so friendly and knowledgable - no question is too big or too small! Garbanzo (our dog) is always hesitant to go in with all of the other animal smells, but once he's in, we can't get him to leave! He loves hanging out with the staff there. We've recently moved kind of far away from District Vet, but we will continue going there as long as we can.

I love ALL the wonderful doctors, techs, and staff at District Vet but especially the Brookland team since I have been going there since I was a lil’ bitty puppy. My most fave Doctor is Dr Connie Lin who is always so kind and nice and I love her the best. She is also so very nice to my Mommy and listens to all her concerns. I’m not a very good dog but all the staff and doctors treat me like I am and for that my Mom is very grateful. District Vet is totally pawsome!!!!

Dr Makhijani and Carly were amazing! My cat and I came in as a new patient and she can be very challenging with anyone except me. We were able to do the full exam, shots & bloodwork while keeping my girl as happy as possible. Dr Makhijani spent so much time explaining all the treatment options, pros & cons, and answering my questions. So glad I switched to District Vet Brookland!

So I brought my dog here because he was having seizures and these people are about 10 minutes from my house. When I got there, the receptionist were really friendly and nice. The office is nice and clean. However, the vet did nothing at all and wanted to charge us $200 just for him to call my dog a cat and pepperoni. He never examined or touched my dog. He then insinuated that we couldn't afford treatment from him - keep in mind this is before he told us that he was charging us $200. The nerve right... I ended up taking my dog to another vet that actually wanted to help us. Oh - did I mention that we were the only 2 black woman there. Don't know if that made a difference or not but I did notice it.

Love their instagram page - as a patient, it's helpful to see the tips and fun facts they post. We also love seeing the behind the scenes with all the pups and cats - it reassures us that our pup is so loved when he goes back for his exams :)

I’m truly grateful for the wonderful culture and care staff show at District Vet Brookland. Our cat was seen by Dr Makhijani and Technician Andrew. Both of them were very gentle with our 5 year old cat.I’ve had not-so nice experiences with other vets in DC, but this team has made my heart feel at ease. And I know my cat is also more willing to participate in the examination.

My favorite vet in DC. This place has seen 2 of my dogs and I’ve never had a bad experience. It is a little pricey but for routine items and check-ups nothing outrageous. It’s always clean and the staff are friendly.

Love this vet office! Dr. Jordan was fantastic and so were the front desk staff, Ashlee and Dalia. Only complaint is that the office system/server is slow, which delayed our receiving emailed paperwork afterwards.

I had heard good things from neighbors but my one and only experience here was likely my last. Our dog wasn't feeling well so I brought him in for an evaluation and to establish care at a vet closer to us. He had labs drawn that took 5 days for us to be contacted that he had a severely elevated serum calcium level (which ended up being hypercalcemia of malignancy). Lab results never took more than a day at our previous vet in VA, which is why I called twice during the week for any lab results; however, I was told by the person answering the phone that lab results take up to 7 days (some generic response) and that I would be contacted if anything was wrong. Based on our experience with our previous vet, and compared to what I experienced here, I won't be back. Our dog is now being seen at Friendship Hospital for Animals.

Very attentive and compassionate vet practice. Appointment started right on time and both the technician and the vet listened carefully to what I had to say about my 10 year old dog. They reassured me that it was a wait and see situation not dire. For full transparency, the vet part of the visit was $94. The comprehensive blood work was $235. I saw Dr. Hassel (sp?). He was very good.

Dr. Brant Hassell has taken very good care of our cats for many years now. I value his medical expertise, his common sense, and his ability to convince the insurance company that their initial judgment was wrong.

My regular vet at Brookland mis-diagnosed my cat's medical issue, missing the abdominal cancer diagnosis that had metasticized., instead suggesting inflammatory bowel disease. This occurred over several months. The treatments and outcomes are vastly different.

I found this place looking for a vet accepting new patients as my vet retired during COVID. Nice facility with convenient parking. Staff seems friendly and the doctor knowledgeable. They have an online portal for convenience. Not the cheapest place ($90 nonrefundable deposit for exams when you make the appointment and i have 2 fur babies), but hopefully with the rise in popularity of pet insurance, some costs can be absorbed. All in all, a good experience.

This vet always takes great care of my cat, and when he is extra sick (upper respiratory infection) they always find a way to get him in, even if they are very busy. We have been going to them for a year and a half and no complaints.

From the 1st visit (after I adopted my cat) to the last visit (when my cat passed away), District Vet has been very helpful, professional and responsive throughout the 7 years I dealt with them. Dr. Hassell and the nurses seem to genuinely care about their furry patients- I always felt my cat was in good hands. The front staff are usually friendly and proactive- meaning they make sure all customers have been taken care of or they’re cleaning the hospital. By the way, the hospital is always clean and in good condition. When I email them, they always respond. I never had an issue with them. If I ever get another pet again, I’ll definitely go back to them. They even work with the cremation place so you can pick up the ashes there instead of driving 2 hours way.

I took my pets here several times. My dog is sick and I took him in. He got medicine and the vet said to call if he didn’t get better. After 10 days of him not getting better, I called back in for help. The receptionist told me to send an email and wouldn’t leave a message for the doctor to call. I send an email and wait for a call back. After 48 hours, I call and ask for a response. The lady who answered asked if I wanted a call back from the doctor and I said yes. They had not read the email before I called because she indicated in the notes. I still had no call back after several days. I called back myself and said it’s an emergency now because my dog is sick. They said they can make an appointment for me but it would be 3 weeks. They put me on a cancellation list. All I wanted was to be called back by the doctor. What’s so hard about that? I doubt District Veterinarian Hospital cares about pets. My dog is very sick and you just say make an appointment instead of calling me back to figure out options?! Then you say an appointment is 3 weeks away and good luck. Find a different place to take your pet. They don’t care. Also, I would like a refund on the medication that did not work. Why is the answer to prescribe medicine that doesn’t pertain to the problem?

I've been taking my dogs to District Vet for two years, and they have 100% earned their five-star status. They have a practice full of friendly, no-nonsense vets who have always given our two dogs (who have had a variety of issues, from recurring bacterial infections to inexplicable allergies) the best care. They are not alarmist but are very practical and do what needs to be done. All of the vets have been wonderful, but Dr. Hassell has left a particular impression on our family for his wealth of knowledge and willingness to go into detail for me. I've also never felt like I'm asking too many questions (which I definitely always am). They usually have appointments available fairly quickly, especially with the Eastern Market practice now open too, so you should never need to go to the emergency vet.The front-office staff is also very helpful, which is the first time I've ever experienced that at a vet. For example, I just called to get my younger dog's rabies certificate, and it was in my email inbox before I even hung up the phone after a 10-second call. I recommend District Vet to all my friends whenever they get pets or are looking to switch. I've had a number of bad experiences with other DC vets and not a single one with District Vet. They really are the best.

Jiggy, my dog had to be euthanized yesterday. He loved going there. He was very ill and treated like a king. I love how they made his last day beautiful. My thanks for all they do!

This place has really gone downhill. They quoted me a price to get a blood pressure reading on my dog. I made an appointment and at check out, the price mysteriously went up over 40% and they really couldn't explain why. I understand some things are estimates but it's literally reading a BP machine, and this happens every single time I go. It's always a bait and switch on the costs. And then to top it off, they refused to tell me his BP reading before I left. They said the Dr would call me when she had a break because techs can't tell me the number on a machine for some reason but the doctor didn't call. When I called back late in the day to try and get the results, the receptionist was rather short with me and not very empathetic that my dog's whole surgery schedule is dependent on the results of this test. So unfortunately after years of being a customer here, I will not be going back.
