It was the first time my dogs attended a daycare. The staff members were professional and helpful throughout the process and both of my dogs did well. My dogs can be a handful, particularly in new settings with other dogs, so I am very pleased that the staff members were able to help them have a positive first experience at daycare.

First time at City Dogs and Stella came back clean and smelling great. Stella isn’t always thrilled about trips to the groomer snd appreciated the teams understanding and patience with her haircut.

We are new to DC and have already tried a handful of places to board our two pups, but nothing was quite clicking. It’s difficult to find a place in the city that can accommodate us and where our large and energetic dogs (Husky and German Shepherd) feel comfortable. But we knew we found the winner this past weekend after their evaluation at City Dogs!! CD had been highly recommended by other dog owners in our apartment building and so we decided to give them a try. It’s very clear that customer service is an important priority here. We already feel like family and it was just our first day. Tae checked us out and spent so much time talking with us about how the boys did, what to expect for the future, and welcoming us to the pack :) truly above and beyond customer service, when so many of these other dog boarding places can feel so transactional. We purchased a daycare pass already and definitely will become regulars at City Dogs!

It was a wonderful first time experience at City Dogs NW. Drop off was smooth and I felt like my dog Jack was truly being cared for—staff even knew his name before I introduced myself! When I went to pick him up, they had his picture on the front door to announce that he was new, and even provided me with a goodie bag including a framed (paper) ADORABLE photo taken of him in the playroom! It was so sweet and I really appreciated the thought. Unfortunately, since their daycare prices have had to go up, I’ve had to explore more affordableoptions. If it weren’t for the price, I’d definitely revisit City Dogs.

City Dogs has been my lifesaver for the past two years but they were especially accommodating when I had a recent stint in the hospital and needed to board my dog, Waffles. I knew my dog would be well taken care of and happy to play with his friends. The cage-free environment is a huge bonus. Not to mention, it's always a treat to read his daily report cards.I have had nothing but positive experiences at City Dogs and would recommend it to any other pet owner in the city. Thank you!

I would, without question, not recommend City Dogs. I brought my dog to City Dogs with excitement. One of my dog’s favorite words is “daycare,” and she loves interacting and playing with other dogs. She left City Dogs, though, shaking, and I was really disturbed when I arrived to pick her up. As you can see in the picture, there are about 30 dogs of all sizes in a small room. There were big puddles of urine on one side of the room. There was one human attendant with the 30 dogs, and the human attendant had headphones in and was not paying attention to the dogs. My dog stunk like urine, and I had to bathe her immediately upon getting home. I was not impressed by their daycare report cards. I had paid for a midday walk, and there was no information on how this went. All the report card said was that my dog did well and that they would love to have her back. My dog has been to multiple other daycares, and my experience with City Dogs really horrified me. I guess, though, it was of benefit because I am much (much) more cautious with my dog and who I leave her with - I couldn’t have imagined anything as bad as City Dogs.

Careless. Avoid this place, especially if you have smaller dogs. My dog’s last visit turned into nightmare. My dog was bitten here and had a resulting infection. No one on staff notified me of any incidents nor mentioned anything during pick up. My dog was acting slightly off when I picked him up, walking a little off and I noticed what looked like a small scrape on his behind. I cleaned it with soap and water and did not think much of it. I gave him a proper bath 2 days later and discovered a puncture wound underneath his fur, at this point, very swollen and red. I spent $1,000 in vet bills to clean the wound and in resulting antibiotics and anti-inflammation medications, on top of hearing him scream while he was getting medical care. While this was truly an awful experience, I would be less upset if someone had informed me of any accidents during his stay so we could get immediate medical care. I asked several times for video footage, and they kept saying they did not see anything abnormal, no accidents on video. Even then, they still did not show me any video footage whatsoever. If they are so attentive and really care to watch over your dogs, I still cannot fathom how this accident was not noticed at all or how anyone did not hear my dog yelping.

I've tried a few different dog groomers in DC, but ultimately, I love City Dogs! I have taken my anxious puppy there a few times and they always do a great job! I appreciate their patience, attention to detail, technique, and responsiveness. I cannot recommend their services enough!

I love City Dogs and take my 2 dogs there all the time for daycare and boarding. I’m never worried about my dogs while they are there. You don’t even need to make a reservation for daycare. Both of my dogs have been groomed by City Dogs as well, and came out great! The only thing I would like that isn’t offered is pictures of my dogs while boarding. I miss them while I’m away and would love a check in

Can’t say enough good things about City Dogs! ❤️ It’s obvious that the staff truly care about the well-being of my doggos. They’re always helpful, friendly and accommodating. I have felt super confident leaving my dogs here from day one. I know my babies will be well cared for. 10/10

Love the staff at city dogs. Very welcoming and just great people. Love Gigi the groomer. Sadie a barbet breed can be difficult to groom since she isn’t a common breed. Gigi mastered her cut. Absolutely best groomer.

What started out as and informative meet and greet with my puppy grooming needs. Turn into a nightmare. I picked my puppy up today at 4:30, faced with a dog I didn’t recognize. When I came into City Dogs this afternoon I was informed my puppy was too young for a full cut. I was explained the importance of waiting. So we opt in for a puppy grooming where he would receive a little trim at the face, nail cutting, wash, and dry. I requested for his hair inside of his ears to be plucked as well. When I came to pick up Milo all of his hair was cut off his face, his ears where not plucked, Milo is my emotional support animal and all week I’ve had anxiety about this grooming, and it has literally came true. Not only did he cut all of his hair off his face, he has a botched cut one side of the top of his hair is longer than the other. When I expressed my concerns to the groomer, he responds was it’s just hair it will grow back. Like are you serious? I said again this isn’t what I asked for, this isn’t want we talked about. He then responded he looks cute to me. Milo and I are devastated, I cried the entire way home. I’m just so confused, if you explained how he didn’t need a hair cut, but cut all the hair off his face and head. So now Milo has no hair on his face and the top of his head with a full blowout of body hair, looking so weird. It just doesn’t make any sense to me. At no point did he apologize, which really saddens me. His way of making it right was telling the intake person yo make notes in the account for next time. I immediately said it will not be a next time, he’s never coming back, he said okay and walked away. I’ve read nothing but great reviews, is this how you handle first time customers? I’m looking forward to a phone call and for this situation to be reconciled, because this is completely unacceptable. I literally waited four plus hours for my baby to look nothing like o asked.Warm Regards,Crystal

I bring my dog, Ruthie, to City Dogs for daycare and she absolutely loves it. She's usually shy when she first meets people, but took to the staff right away and all of them greet her whenever she comes in. Every time we pull up, she starts barking in the car and darts through the door as soon as I open it. They're also very flexible with dropping off whenever. Adore Elmer's report cards, too!

I had an amazing experience at City Dogs. My family was visiting DC from Philly and we wanted a museum day where we didn't need to worry about our dog who we brought with us on our trip. The staff was so welcoming and even provided us with a goodie bag at the end of the day. Highly recommend if you're in the Dupont Circle / Kalorama area. We definitely plan to use their services next time we visit DC. Thank you!

We've taken our 2 senior dogs here several times and have been very happy! I will say the 18th St location is slightly better because they have outdoor space, but both are solid options!

Gigi at City Dogs is the *best* groomer!! Not only did she give my pup an amazing cut, she was thoughtful and caring in her approach. She took the extra time to make sure Ziba was comfortable throughout the whole process, and she would take as many breaks as necessary to make sure she didn't get scared (this was only Ziba's second-ever groom). Can't say enough good things - and even after several weeks, the cut still looks fresh and has been easy to maintain. :-)

City Dogs is great. My pup Hanna loves going there and always has a lot of stories to tell me when I pick her up. The staff there is friendly and welcoming. Definitely a solid place to leave your fur baby and have peace of mind that they will be taken care of.

Was assaulted on the floor by staff. Wasn’t paid enough for the amount of workload. Customers were nice but most of the staff, and management were disrespectful, unprofessional, and gossip oriented. There weren’t any benefits to support workers and hours were cut back. Wouldn’t recommend working here in terms of safety and being undervalued.

It was the first time Momo went for daycare here. They gave him free bath for the first day of day care and welcomed him with a cute sign on the door on his first day . They also provided me with his report card of the evaluation and a care package since it was the first day. I thought they were very warm and welcoming! They sent me photos and I will definitely come back.

I’ve used City Dogs for a few dogs that I’ve fostered in the past and most recently, a dog I just adopted — Having used their daycare, overnight boarding and grooming services, I can attest to their having amazing services all the way around. I really cannot recommend them enough! The staff is super attentive and all of my pups have LOVED going; I travel often and feel lucky to have such a fun and trusted spot that offers so much flexibility to take my fur babies when needed. The report cards are adorable and great for staying informed on behaviors and routines; I appreciate the confidence of knowing my pets are in great hands with City Dogs every time!

I can’t say enough good things about this place. My anxious dog Mason always seems happy to be dropped off here. I love the report cards-they’re fun to read!Pernell, the groomer, is super responsive to any requests and Mason comes back looking extra handsome every time. Thanks for being such a great place in the neighborhood!

We love City Dogs - we've been sending our dog here for almost a full year! I work from home and don't necessarily need doggy daycare, but my Hudson is hyper-social and extremely high energy... making it hard to get work done by Wednesday unless she has an outlet to play. City Dogs does a great job matching her with dogs of her energy-level (she's small in size but a 'big dog' in spirit) to keep her happy. We love the report cards we get at the end of each day letting us know how she did and if she picked one close friend that day or played with everyone. The staff are always in a good mood and respond promptly to phone calls. The "school picture" we got on Day 1 is a plus.

Emmett LOVES City Dogs on 18th St! He’s been going to daycare since he was a puppy. He’s almost 2 yrs old now. He also enjoys the occasional boarding w their outside patio and daily walks. Most importantly, every staff member is nice and friendly.

My dog loves day care there and always comes back dog tired, so to speak! Whenever we come, the staff greets him by name, and he seems to love them. 5 stars to the day care!(We had a couple of not so great experiences with grooming, though, so minus a star or two for that)

City Dogs is great! I recently moved nearby so I took my dog there for daycare on my way to work. The drop off was quick and the staff were friendly. When I went to pick him up, they had a "Welcome Zip!" sign on the front door and, in addition to my adorable pup who was VERY happy to see me, I went home with a goodie bag with his report card, initial evaluation, treats, and a framed picture that they took during the day. Amazing experience!
