Store definitely needs a refresh/update. It’s dark and feels gloomy every time I stop in, which isn’t that frequently. Finding someone to help you is always a challenge. Even had to wait to checkout today since no one was minding the register. I usually only stop there when the private local store is out of stock on something I need.

Went in for grooming services. I called ahead and was told to come on in. They took my dog very quickly. We were in and out in 15 minutes. Everyone in the store was polite and asked if I needed anything. Will return. Highly recommend.

The sales associate (Jeff) was terrific. He was very helpful answering various questions we had about our tropical fish and problems. He also shared with us when shipments arrive so we know when to come back to get what we were looking for (species was sold out).

**Update on review **the hamster received the medical care she needed and she is doing very well now. I received a call from john the manager who informed me that the hamster is doing very well and i can come pick her up. He also apologized for how the situation was handled! He allowed my daughter to pick out a toy and he gave us food and a some treats! I’m very happy how this all turned out just wish it was the solution from the beginning! Thank you very much john for all your help!If i could give a negative starsi would! I bought my daughter a hamster on 3/7 we noticed a bump on his cheek and thought maybe she is just fuffy on that side more well a few days later the grew really big! So i called PETCO and the manager john was very nice and helpful and told me to take him to a vet and they will pay the bill “they have our card on file “ is what he said. Well On 3/14 we go to the vet and the vet said it will cost 350.00 and after taking to PETCO they aren’t going to pay it and to bring it to the store. Meanwhile i have my 9 year old daughter with me crying her eyes out heart broken. first my question is how often are they checking on their animals if my daughter found the lump hours after being the hamster home… These managers need to all be on the same page! One was very nice and helpful and the other wasn’t at all! Very disappointed in this company. I suggest taking your child to a different pet store for any of your animals!

I have been in the aquarium hobby for a few years and recently got into saltwater fish. I come here to get fish supplies and water regularly. I purchased hundreds of dollars in salt water fish from this Petco. Sadly they all kept dying and I couldn’t figure out the issue. My invertebrates all lived and my water quality was to par. I never called to complain about fish death as they make it very clear that there is no guarantee on the fish. A few weeks ago I came in to get some frozen fish food and decided to walk by the live fish tanks on my way out. To my surprise, all of the salt water were empty. Just water and rock but no aquatic life in them. I guess what I’m trying to say is that obviously they knew something was going on and did not inform their customers. I will call headquarters and see what can be done but please, don’t spend your hard earned money on the fish here. It’s not worth it.

The groomers started to cut my dog and decided they couldnt finish her so they sent her home with a half shaved head with a hair tail following her . I’m still furious!!! The disappointment, wasting my time and starting my dog and didn’t finish her all because they had a busy day and didn’t want to groom my dog because of the time.

Terrible store!! The selection and prices aren't great.. very outdated.. People complain about Puppy Mills.. What about all of the neglected animals shoved into little tanks?? Took my Poodles to the groomer a couple of times, MY DOGS CAME HOME INFESTED WITH FLEAS AND WE HAD TO SPEND HUNDREDS OF $$$ TO GET THE HOUSE CLEARED OF THEM...

Went in to get some tank supplies. Found what I needed, BUT about 5 of the betta fish they were selling were near death(floating on there side at the top of the filthy little water dish they keep them in) one was simply dead(upside down not moving at the bottom of the tank). It was obvious which fish had recently arrived and which ones had been there while struggling to survive. I pointed this out to the "fish expert" in this department and she, very rudely, said this is normal behavior for beta fish....NOT true. And they she had just changed all thier water...also NOT true bc there was decaying food pellets at the bottom of their little bowls. Just do minimal research. I have kept several beta fish in an adequate size tank with proper heating, filtration and parameters. They live a long time and are VERY active fish when kept in a healthy environment.NEVER did my betas float at the top of the tank, on there sides, not moving!!!!! I will never go back to this Petco.

Their reptile feed section was awful, I had to hold everything in me to not vomit on the spot. Im going to get worms for my leopard gecko and I open the worm fridge and it’s humid, not cold, and smelled like pure death. Their worms are from OCTOBER. Mind you it’s December 17th. Also their reptiles look like they were left for dead and are severely malnourished. Petco has no care for their animals at all and the place reeks.

The store was clean and associates were very friendly and helpful. Sadly the store did not supply the products we needed. We did buy a shampoo but it wasn't what we were looking for to remedy the problem with our pet.

I’m not thrilled with chain store pet shops. They are overpriced and rarely have high quality products. I have 3 dogs, 5 cats and 3 Amazons. I need to buy in bulk and Petco never has bulk packages. They promote many of their products as bulk but I can get larger quantities through Amazon, specialty online retailers and Costco. Petco’s bird food is especially poor quality, limited in brand varietyand overpriced beyond belief.If you’re in need of a quick last minute purchase they’ll do, but try to avoid it. Think ahead and buy your pet food ahead of time, so you’re not scrambling at the last minute.Also, never buy animals from these franchises.

I looked for a yard flea spray at petco. The price was 17.99 Petsmart had the same product for 11.99. When I asked about price matching the cashier said they only match Petco prices. When I told him they were Petco, he didn't have a clue. Is stupidity a requirement to work there

Plenty of helpful staff today, a bit low on some stock but not an issue in my opinion. Didn't see any birds, but there were gerbils, mice, guinea pigs, ferrits, chinchillas, iguanas, chameleons, many small lizards, salt & fresh water fish etc. Not too crowded, good trip👍

Prices are comparable to other local pet stores. However, the employees at the Petco on Kirkwood Hwy make it our pet needs destination. They always greet you when you enter (us and our dogs). They are conversational (again, with us and dogs!). Its the little things that make a difference. I'd be hardpressed to find any negatives.

Not to sound like an out of touch Karen, but I probably would go to honestly any other Petco the encounter I had today was interesting. I asked if it would be cool if I pay with two cards was told yes they could even do it in one go unless I need two receipt (which I didn’t hindsight 20/20 should’ve chose that) we get to the second payment it tells me invalid card number, which I’m like OK sure my fat thumbs just hit the wrong button after being told to try it nine times. I’m pretty sure my card froze after the seventh. there was a line behind me. I told the manager who is checking me out if they would want to take care of it, they can. because I hate to be that person that’s when he seem to get annoyed I had to explain to the another worker who was trying to come up with a solution what was going on

Called to speak with someone to find out about an item being in stock as I couldn’t get a clear answer looking on website. I explained I knew it was a big ask but I had been to several stores already and before I drove there, if they could please check. John said let me check, might take a minute I said that’s fine. Was on hold 3 min then got disconnected. I called back and phone rang for 5;53sec then was disconnected. So no idea whether cat dewormer in stock but as a rewards member, not happy. Also, I believe John is a Assistant Store Manager. Poor Customer Service 9/14/23 1:30pm
