Clean. There were some boxes in aisles, but they were restocking shelves. I called yesterday to ask if they carried our brand of dog food and the employee was very nice and checked to make sure there was enough that I could wait till the next day. Cashier was pleasant today.

My husband and I have been loyal customers of Concord Pet since we got our first dogs in 2002. Over the course of the last two decades we have given a home to 17 dogs and eight cats. We currently have two puppies, a year old, an older dog, and three cats. Concord Pet has been our go-to place for all things related to our dogs and cats. We have spent thousands of dollars, first at the now-closed store on route 213 in Elkton, and then the Middletown store (approximately the past 12 years). We were well-known to the manager, past and present, given the volume of food we buy. Our standard brand for dogs and cats has been Grandma Mae's Country Naturals, grain free, large bags for dogs, approximatey $75/bag. The last two bags we purchased were in July, during their sale. Our practice is to empty the bag into a clean, closed container so that it stays fresh ,and to discard the manufacturer's bag. As we were feeding the second bag of whitefish kibble to our dogs, I noticed they were uninterested in it. I tried other toppings over a few days to entice them to eat. Nothing got them interested. It occurred to me that the kibble was spoiled. On 8/4 I brought the food back to the store. Heather, the manager and two other associates were there. They told me I could not return the food without the bag as they would not receive any credit from the manufacturer without the bag. I explained my situation and that in the 20+ years of being a customer, this was the first return I needed to make. They said they could do nothing without the bag. I asked if a store credit or other consideration could be made for a long-standing customer. They laughed at me and said there was nothing to be done without the bag. (Each bag is scanned upon purchased and entered into their system for discount after a certain number of purchases, so in my way of looking at this, all they needed to do was to look up our account, see the whitefish bag that was purchased during their sale and they would have the barcode scan then needed, but this was not done.)On 8/9 I reached out to the website's customer service and said I had a customer experience I'd like to discuss. I asked to be in touch with the reginal manager of the Delaware stores. On 8/11 I received a response from Kristine in Customer Service that she shared my email with the store manager and the next level up and I would receive a response from one of them. (I was not interested in speaking to the Middletown store manager, as she was the lead person with whom I had the interaction.) On 8/16 when I had not received a respons by either the Middletown store manager or the next level up, I reached out again to Kristine. I received two responses from Customer Service, one from Kristine, who said I should call the Corporate Office, as they handle customer complaints (different from her first response that I would be contacted), and another response from Christina saying that the senior leaders were out of the office and to "rest assured" I would be contacted.When I had no response by Friday, 8/25, I decided to call the Corporate Offices and spoke to Michelle, who said she fields calls for the owners. She very carefully asked questions, agreed that my experience was not a good one and said that she would speak to the owners, and that I would hear from her directly the following Monday, 8/28, even if it was to say that she had not been in touch with owners and had nothing to report. She repeated this several times. Today is Wednesday, 8/30 and still I have no response. I am amazed that 1. I had to go through so much trouble for one bad bag of dog food with a 21- year track record of substantial spending in this chain and 2. I got conflicting messages despite multiple touch points on my part.My husband and I try to buy local, whenever possible, as he was once a small business owner, and we know how much it means to do business with a local business instead of a web-based company. Given my experience, I will be reconsidering.

Great, courteous service. Great selection or they will special order it. They have a lot of great sales, including one every six months when everything in their stores is 30% off! Stock up! They sell only pet food and supplies and no animals, which is commendable. Even better, they adopt out rescue cats and kittens. They always have the sweetest and cutest, well cared for felines. They adopt out fast, so hurry!

I only gave 2 stars because the young lady that rung up my stuff was very nice , however the Caucasian man that was in there today followed me and asked did I need any help I told him no I’m okay then while I was getting the food for my dog I saw him in the other Aisle looking at me. Then after I paid for my stuff and left getting in my car I turns around and he still looking that’s very weird to do I only went there because the CB pet store down the street no longer carry the food I get for my dog and I didn’t feel like driving all the way down to PetSmart I will never go to this concord pet store or any other for that matter I should not be profiled like I’m the only person in the store! I’m passed I should have returned the dog food that I paid for never again!!!! Don’t shop here !

I love doing here instead of Amazon. Keep them money local and support local businesses. They have plenty of food and your options for your dog or cat! Clean and brightly lit too.

Extremely helpful and helped me get in touch with the shelter to get my new kitten! The customer service is great! The products are, admittedly, hit or miss and a bit expensive. Some stuff you might wanna order off Amazon but I think thats every pet store.

I usually go to a different Concord Pet store but was in the area and needed dog food so I stopped in to this store. I was the first person in when they opened one Friday morning.When I opened the bag of food out looked a little different but didn't think anything of it so I fed it to my dog all weekend. Monday morning I noticed a little worm on one of the pieces.I called the manufacturer and when she asked me for the expiration date I saw it was 1 year almost to the date past the expiration date. She said I would need to call the store to arrange for a replacement.This is where I had a problem. The store manager Melissa was rude and difficult. She kept trying to place blame on the warehouse that they get their food from. She told me she couldn't return it without a receipt. I asked if she could look up the transaction and she said "uh, maybe?"I finally got her to agree to a return and when I went in there she was very rude and cold. I understand mistakes happen and I would have been fine with this if she, at any point in this, showed any kind of empathy with an "I'm sorry this happened" or otherwise didn't try to place blame on me. I will never go back to this store, not because year old food was on the shelf, but because of the way I was treated when I had a problem because of it.

I have shopped at Concord Pet for years and this new store is great. I am greeted when I enter and my purchase is always walked to my car. My dogs love their bulk treats. Also, we have a dog with kidney issues and she needs low protein food and when I asked for advice about appropriate non-prescription food that would be available, not only was I helped but the employee understood the condition and the importance of having the correct food for her situation.It is also important to me that the owner is local and supports the local animal community.

I go straight for the bag of dog food and then straight to the register. I'm literally only ever here for 138 seconds max. But, it all seems good in that time. Every once in a while they don't have the food my dog eats, but that's only happened once or twice.

The manager - Mora is wonderful, knowledgeable and just pleasant. You can tell she takes pride in what she does. The rest of the staff a bit young and at times aloft or appear to not want to be bothered. Products are vast, great dog treats, clothing and toys. The dog bath is pretty cool, wish they had two of them.

Review for the pet wash: Automated in the rear right, staff was friendly. No towels so bring your own, there is a dryer but we have a German Shepherd so a towel is also necessary for us.

Had a fantastic experience with Mora. I was having anxiety about all of the Dog food diet issues related to Grain-Free diets. She helped me go through several bags and look at ingredients and discussed it with me at great length until I felt comfortable with my dog food decision. I cannot be happier.

Rushed to get here to grab a bag of dog food after work. After I parked and got out of my car 5 minutes before closing, the store lights were suddenly turned out and the person inside ar the register ignored me at the door. I have been a loyal customer for 25 years, but customer service has been on the decline in recent years.

Store seems okey. It does have a dog wash station. I would have given a higher rating but when I arrived a vender that was setting up a table by the bird feeders was using space marked for handicapped vehicles as a loading dock. Spaces were clear 1 space on either side but he showed no regard to the less abeled. I did say something to an employee but did not see an effort resolve the issue.

This is just about the only store around that sells the specific cat food my sensitive cat needs, and it's more affordable than on Chewy! There's always a cat who is up for adoption, through a local organization whose name currently eludes me but is on display beside the cat, lounging in a huge cage near the front of the store, and their selection of treats and toys is expansive.
