Rude owner/trainer. Signed up for the 6 week basic dog training and was extremely disappointed. The owner/trainer asked each dog owner to do a 1hr walk plus 2 15min training sessions daily, but was very upset when these people with full time jobs, college, and other responsibilities couldn’t do that every single day of the week. My dog (a beagle) was having trouble and the trainer was very rude to me talking to me like a dog or a child because I couldn’t get my dog to sit. I called the owner later to say that I thought it was rude the way he spoke to me and he kept blaming me for him speaking to me like that. He talked down to me and couldn’t understand what he did wrong or why I was upset. The staff also made excuses that my dog was having trouble because she’s a beagle, and according to them all beagles are loud and stubborn. It seems they aren’t equipped to handle all breeds. Apparently you shouldn’t pet or cuddle your dog when you wake up in the morning, you shouldn’t pet a dog’s head, you shouldn’t wear sunglasses or hats around your dog because it could scare them, and you should make sure to follow a militaristic routine every day to have a happy dog. All kinds of nonsense that normal people with jobs aren’t going to do for their pet dogs that they have to love and cuddle with. I will never go back and never recommend this place to anyone on account of its rude owner and ridiculous teachings. Save your money.

We took our 6 month puppy to Delaware k9 academy for puppy boot camp and he came back a lot more disciplined, as i type this I am able to eat my lunch with him placed on this bench (no barking/whining/running away to make trouble)He is now able to control himself whereas before he could not in any given situation. He still has all of his puppy energy but now obeys commands (not just when he wants to)Our trainer was Mercedes and she was very responsive and helpful, we got updates with pictures everyday, multiple times a day which made it so much easier for us as well. When we went to pick him up, we learned everything he has learned in his 2 week boot camp and how to continue using these commands at home.Everyone was so friendly and Marshmello loved playing with Mercedes as well as training, even as we went through what he learned he was so happy to do all of the commands that he learned for us. 10/10 can’t go wrong with Delaware k9

They are amazing! Blu is like a little kid...he gets sooo excited when it's time to go to daycare. He loves the caregivers and it shows that they love him too!!! He's become so much more balanced since we started taking him to K-9!

We had our first class last week I was very skeptical about the training class. D was our instructor and let me just say she was amazing.Her instructions were clear and by the end of the night our puppy was sitting and heeling. We have been working with our dog since our first class and I can not wait to take him back.The space they occupy was very clean well organized and all of the staff was very helpful. We couldn't get our paperwork to show our dog was current on his vaccinations and they called and got them so when we walked in we were ready to go.I wish I could give 10 stars this experience has been great and I will recommend American K-9 to any and everyone. Thank you for all of the wonderful customer service and help with my dog.

This is the best boarding kennel and doggie day care, and the only one I'll use. They take great care of my girls, remember them every time and give you an evaluation of your pet. I drive about 40 minutes one way to use American K-9! 😍

I used their grooming service for a while, and I was very happy with it. However, I was wrong about their professionalism. Last time my dog was there I called to make an appointment, they made the appointment, with no questions asked, but when I went to pick him up the groomer, Debbie, started questioning me how did I brought my dog for grooming without his rabbis proof of vaccination. I tried to explain her, that I was not asked to do it, not when I made the appointment or when I dropped him off. I tried to tell her that I do have it, but because I didn't know I need to bring it, I don't have it with me. She then started to lecture me over and over again about how is my duty to keep track of the records they have in file for my dog. I tried to tell her that I was in a rush to go back home and unfortunately I don't have time to listen to her lecture. Anyway, long story short, she would keep talking about it and I told her I need to get my dog and leave, because I don't have time to be lectured. Today I called to make an appointment to get my dog groomed and I was told she refuses to groom my dog anymore. This is not very professional.

New to Middletown, and my little guy has been attending doggy daycare here for several months! Very pleased with the level of care they provide- Capone is so happy to see all the staff and has met special friends during his time here. Extremely accessible hours, even accommodations for a early drop off ( a nurses hours are never 9-5). The Groomer Erin does a fantastic job!!! Very pleased, would highly recommend

The groomer there is excellent and quick! He's very patient and cares a lot! Our dogs felt great afterwards! Great pricing! Forgot a tip though (sorry), we will definitely bring a big one the next time! Thinking about boarding there for our wedding, they seem to take pride and care about everything they do!

Great customer service. The price was exactly what they said it would be. I appreciate this type of service but when I got my dog back he stunk REALLY bad, like really bad. The day before I got him back I got a call stating he had rolled around in his own pee in his kennel and needed a bath, so I paid the 25 dollars extra for the bath and was told he would smell great today (The next day) for pick up except he smells HORRIBLE and he did not smell like this when I dropped him off ! My entire house is stinking LITERALLY ! Lol if this is not an issue for you then this place is great ! Nice ppl, fair prices, and good services but I don’t know what exactly takes place due to my puppy smelling terribly !

My dog is 18 lbs. He does not have to be around large dogs at any point in his life. Nor will he ever have to. The dog park and our original daycare Dog Stop in Middletown, Knows for the most part common sense, you keep LARGE dogs separated from small dogs. Dogs will be dogs no matter how much you train them. Its an animal not human. This company failed our dog on temperament test due to him not feeling safe around large dogs. We informed them of his background beforehand, paperwork etc When we picked up our little buddy he was soaking wet, shaking, scared. We will never bring him back here again. The staff was also not very professional. We wouldnt feel secure bringing him here after this first impression.

This place is the worst!!! Truly Dishonest and no customer service. My fiancé was verbally abused by the owner of this business on social media for writing a review. My first experience with them and last. I called and set my dog up to be boarded Saturday am to Sunday pm and specifically asked for the total I would pay. I was told $31 plus $10 for two walks that I added. Just picked my dog up and was charged $72. Was told that I had been misinformed over the phone and that someone would talk to the person who misinformed me. When I stated this this wouldn’t help me, the response was “I know. Sorry”. No call to the owner to try to resolve, no help whatsoever. Just over charged me and gave my dog and his stuff (minus his extra food that I sent). Please don’t bother doing business with this place. Totally unprofessional.

Totally unprofessional. In two weeks, no one called. I spoke to someone originally who could not help me but promised to have the trainer call me about a rescue dog who was going to be returned without help. The dog lived in Middletown too so I thought it would be pretty easy to set up a time for an eval at least. I did not want the dog to be returned and was doing everything in my power to reassure the new owners that help was on the way. I called a second time - left another message. I emailed through their website. After two weeks, still no call from the trainer. I called today and was told the trainer is going on vacation (I guess they only have one trainer) on Friday and would be gone for two weeks... today is only Tuesday but I guess no call is coming this week, either. I felt bad for the person who answered the phone because she said she had other phone calls from people about training - and had no idea what to tell anyone. The real downside is that the rescued dog will most likely now be returned because I delayed the process thinking I could get this trainer out there. If would have really helped to know they did not have the TIME to help me from the beginning because this only put the dog at risk. I was hoping the rescue could have a relationship with this company. Not going to happen now.

I’ve brought my dog here for years. I was treated so poorly and rudely recently. If you are going to work with the public then take a course in customer service. I will never return here or recommend any of their services.
