Stopped here a long my way and it's clean staff is very friendly and nice the shelves are stocked prices aren't bad was looking for a certain product and couldn't find it and the lady was very nice and stopped what she was doing to help me will definitely come back

I came in store #11617 on 10/18 around 8:30am. The store looked great clean, well stocked (no to much). The cashier was and is always pleasant and helpful and most definitely a keeper.

So I came into the store on a Saturday morning to get milk for my kids so they can have cereal. As a grab my product, I proceeded to the cash register where there was nobody to be found so I figured it’s probably only 2 to 3 people in there busy with putting stuff away and I’ll wait. After about 3 to 4 minutes or so I decided to ask somebody if they could just ring me out at the cash register. So I asked the girl that was down the aisle with her little scan tool if she can bring me out. This was her reply. “I cannot hear you right now. I am on a conference call. If you want service you’re gonna have to ring the bell that’s up there. I can’t help you at the moment“. Mind you there was only one other customer in the store somewhere down the isles so helping me was not really the issue. Since this person was on a conference call tells me that that person has to be somewhat of a keyholder. Maybe part of the management staff but for me to get that answer was very unprofessional. She did not have to talk to me at all. She could’ve stayed on her stupid little conference call all she had to do was scan four items and take my money. If that isn’t bad for business then I don’t know what but I have enough experience in my 36 years of living to know that no manager, shift-lead or whatever she is should deny a customer that is asking for help. Never had that issue with previous staffing that was there.

I have been in this fine establishment at least 5 times since it has been open. Not once was i greeted. Not so much as a smile, hello or have a good day. If i wasn't handing them my money and they weren't taking it, you would think i wasn't even there. I have seen the total opposite with "other" customers in line in front of me and behind me. Until you hire employees who know what true customer service really is, i will make sure no one that i know, regardless of race, creed or color, spend their money here. Update: Went against what I said and still shop here from time to time because it's convenient being all the way out here in Hartly. Nothing has changed. They do not great you and speak only when spoken to and that seems hard to do. I sometimes want to give the same energy but that's just not me. Just gotta except most of the world is not a friendly place these days. God help us....

I just love this store and it's staff, I don't live anywhere near the store actually the cheswold store is closer to me but I will go completely out of my way and pass another family dollar just to go to this store. My 3 hour gathering and receipt from today says 179.50, now does that say I love this store. Whoop whoop

Good variety. Name brands and theirs. Their brand of underwear sucks though because of highly inconsistent sizing within the same pack. Yes, I wrote the company. No, I didn't hear back.

WOW. GREAT NEW STORE> GREAT manager- she is personable, helpful and makes sure her staff is also. The store is kept SO neat with aisles that accommodate walkers & wheelchairs. They also have a little bit of everything ALL in one place.I have many medical limitations & navigating Walmart or one of the other Super Stores has gotten to be too much for me. My elderly and disabled friends agree with me and so the big name drug stores were becoming our "everything" stores. These pharmacies may save our bodies some walking but our budgets began to feel the pain...NOW after Dr. appointments & such we go to the FAMILY DOLLAR #11617. We can pick up our FSA/HSA medical supplies, restock the pantry and grab something healthy(or not) from the cold aisle. This last trip i even grabbed some house warming items for my sister. i never would have braved a big mart to get that done. But here, the manager, seeing how full my cart was, came over to help the cashier bag & she even helpied me load my car. Now i wasn't around these parts in the 'good old days' but i imagine shopping at the local was about like that!We've got a few of these small dept. stores popping up in this Hartly - Kenton - Clayton - West Dover, DE area; but out of all of the Dollar this & that's Family Dollar is my favorite; and this location is my 5 STAR pick. They are at 12 Main St, Hartly, DE 19953 across from the fire station on Rt 44 & 11. AND THEY"RE OPEN UNTIL 10 O'clock!!!
