This is wonderful store some of the people that work there are amazing Mr. Hocker and Mrs. Hocker and their sons are somebody who really cares about their workers. It’s clean well taking care of. They care about their customers, and to work with them was amazing he made you feel very comfortable And let you do your job and if there was something that bothered him, there was no yelling it was speaking quietly and privately if I lived closer to the beach, I would love to go back there. They’re an amazing family to work for and their food is fresh if you want good country food, that’s the place to go, thank you I miss them guys. They were like family and shopping there to me was like supporting my family so give it a try I promise you won’t be disappointed. so when you visit the beach this year, please don’t forget to stop by hockers in Bethany Beach I promise you will not regret it

I just purchased groceries from this place today . The employee Debbie, who checked me out was inattentive and didn’t seem to notice me at all. I placed my items down and waited until for Debbie to acknowledge me. The coworker that Debbie was talking to nodded my way and and Debbie “jumped” into action. She never said a word to me, chatting with her coworker over her shoulder the entire time she was checking me out. I truly don’t think she said one word to me. I felt like I disturbed her.

G&E Hockers Supermarket has the Freshest Produce out of all the Grocery Stores in our area. Giant, WEIS, Food Lion and even Aldi's Grocery Stores in our area are no where near as fresh as G&E Hockers Supermarket. Even in the Summer their produce is always Ripe. I can't say that about any of the other Grocery Stores. You will Never go wrong with their Produce.

A Good Beach Supermarket!I have frequented this locally owned in Ocean View, DE for over 40 years because it is near our beach house in Bethany Beach and off the main, more crowded routes nearby, and still easy to get to. Originally, it was the only stocked grocery store.The original building is now the business’ amazing hardware store, so the newer grocery building is quite large.As with original grocery store, there is a gas station on the site, and shopping there earns points towards a discounted price on gas.I keep using the grocery — the chains are a bit further and this one is just fine for our needs.

Been shopping at Hockers for years the old Hockers in Clarksville, DE very friendly staff. Today went to Hockers in Bethany and they are not as consistently nice. Example: at the self check out today 10/13 8:15 am needed assistance as the scanner was not working I asked for assistance when she came over I said Good morning no one word back, scanner fixed 2nd scanner issue - fixed with a 2nd attitude - I walked out an f left the cart -will not return they are always not nice there.

i have been going there for over 30 years, used to be great service, tonight it was horrible. extra poor customer service in three different departments. They all acted like they hated their jobs and absolutely did not want to provide good customer service. Hocker should be ashamed of himself. No excuse for poor service.update 4.20.2024.....service keeps getting worse. only go there for the quality meat....even that counter has joined the poor service team.

Love love love this store!! We go here to shop several times while we're on vacation in Delaware. Cashier Debbie is very friendly and helpful. Meat selection and prices are awesome! We look forward to shopping there! Can't wait to return next summer.😁💚

🤫 Who knew…Okay apparently a lot of people.Hocker’s is a great place for lunch! Affordable, very tasty homestyle food 😋 and a large area of cafeteria seating. Will definitely be one of our go to spots!

I went here to get a fishing license and the lady was rude. So I canceled my fishing license after she had went through the whole process and bought it online in front of her.Other than that, it's a great store! 10/10

Really surprised overall rating is not higher. I cook from scratch and have shopped in grocery stores all over the DMV for decades, and G&E is tops! This includes Giant, Safeway Magruders, Balducci, Harris Teeter ... all of them. The store's meat department is 2nd to none - well butchered cuts - the variety and quality and prices are great, the deli is outstanding. I buy a lot of meat, store-prepared & deli, and hard to find items here when I'm at the beach before I go back home to Maryland! Wonderful staff, too.

The corn on the cob is fresher than a farm stand. There is nothing like Eastern Shore corn. Hocker has a full selection of groceries and tourist items.

I have never been treated so rudely in a grocery store. 10:30 am and I wanted to buy rolls for lunch. I patiently waited and asked very politely if they had any rolls. I was told they “were cooling”. I could see the whole tray in plastic wrappers.” Could I have one of those packages?” Well she obviously was not pleased handed it to me and said “you have a very lovely day” I said “you too” and she went off on me , I walked away. Blown away by the rudeness!

Went to buy “ Fresh Delaware Corn “ was dismayed to find out that “ Friendly Hockers “ doesn’t allow you to shuck corn in their store , A perturbed manager curtly told me to stop my activity. Please place a bin and let “ Us The People Shuck “!!!!

Fabulous selection of all kinds of food. I was expecting it to be a scaled down beach grocery store, but it definitely had a wonderful selection of various products.My 4 vs 5 was to indicate I felt the staff to be cold and not very welcoming or friendly. I'm sure there's some great people working there, it's just the ones I encountered didn't seem to be to happy or interested in what they were doing.

Great Steamed Shrimp, the best. Got steamer service right at the last minute. Had everything I needed. Very pleasant experience. No line at register, perfect. The best grocery bags I've ever seen. Will visit again.

We visit Bethany Beach often during the summer and since Hockers Market on Fred Hudson Rd is the closest to us we shop there. The prices are a bit higher than we are use to but figured this may be typical for a beach town. Earlier this week we were in a hurry and purchased one of their pre-made 12” roast beef sub sandwiches. When we arrived home to eat the sub we found that there was one slice of roast beef on each side of the sub. So when the sub was cut in half there was one slice of roast beef on each half. I called and asked to speak with a manager and he told me this should not have happened and offered me a free sub to replace it. Well today we went to the store to shop and while there we picked up the free sub. We wanted another roast beef sub but were told they were out of roast beef, figures. So we picked up an Italian sub instead. Well we got back home to eat the sub and there was one slice of ham, one slice of salami and one slice of cheese. So if you like bread and not much else this is the place to get your sandwiches.

This store has the best quality fresh meats of any grocery. The bakery area reminds me of the homemade baked goods sold in Berks County farmers market. Precooked ribs are delicious, as well as the egg salad. Can quickly get in and out. I go for the great meats and bakery. Other items are pricier than a normal grocery but there if you need them! Nice hometown feel.

Absolutely the worst customer service experience I have ever had at a grocery store. Google shows the store closing at 10pm even on Sunday. My husband, my 5 month old baby, and I went in at 8:40pm to grab a few items. The announcement came on at 8:50 that they were closing in 10 minutes. We got to the register at 8:54pm and the cashier rolled her eyes as I walked up. I apologized and she replied with we close at 9 on Sundays, and aggressively scanned my items. My baby coughed because she is sick and she shuttered in disgust. Then at the end of the transaction, said oh what do you need bags? I will never return to this store.
