These people are amazing, their cars and kittens are all adorable and well loved by their Foster family which make up a majority of the volunteers. You can tell that they are there for the some propose of getting home for all of the cats. We got Baxter there today and we couldn't be happier!

I have been meaning to write a review for PAWS for several months and finally am able to sit down and do this. I can’t say enough good things about this shelter. I adopted my sweet kitten Ireland (she was then named Harmony) last summer. Ireland is such a joy and fills my life with love, I can’t imagine my life without her or when she was not part of my family! The adoption process was smooth and easy. I was very impressed at how responsive the team at PAWS was with all of my questions, not all non-profits are so attentive. They truly care for the cats like their own. Ireland is such a blessing to me and all her furry siblings. I would absolutely adopt from here again. I got to meet the wonderful foster mom too and she was also very helpful. Ireland had a little cold when I brought her home and PAWS helped with some medication. I wish they were closer and I would volunteer! Thanks PAWS for selecting me to be Ireland’s human!

I adopted two cats from PAWS right before the pandemic started. They are a bonded pair and such loving kitties! However, I was not satisfied with the adoption experience. It took two weeks of back and forth through email to get in all the info needed for adoption because I was only told I needed one item at a time instead of getting a list of all the things needed to adopt. When I finally showed up to pay for the cats, the woman at the desk seemed to have no information on the cats and gave me my receipt on a post it note. I received the rest of the information through email about the cats. I was never told what food they were currently eating or which information packet belong to which cat since they both had generic names at the shelter. I was never even given their rabies tags. I just have pictures of the tags. This has made making a vet appointment difficult.

We got our cats here 7 years ago and couldn't be happier! They gave us wonderful advice and worked with us to find the right kittens for my 1 year old. It's a great organization with really caring, helpful people!

Went there to donate some things. Ladies that own/work were very kind and helpful. They can use volunteers, donations and all the sweet kitties can use fosters or forever homes.

This shelter takes true pride in loving their animals. Most of these cats are regularly handled and smothered with affection, making them incredible partners to adopt. Words of advice: definitely have a vet referral before you go. Part of the application involves this and it makes it ultimately much easier to adopt the cat you want in a timely manner.

I adopted a cat, "Miss Kitty" in April that was highly encouraged because she "sounded exactly like what I was looking for": a lap cat that would play when encouraged. I found it strange that she had been in and out of 6 homes in 8 months, because she was "too much" for the people that adopted her...the staff insisted that many people were taking her for their grandparents or elderly family members... so the story somewhat checked out...I figured maybe she was just in the elders' laps too much. Mind you the entire time I was considering Miss Kitty, i felt long side eye glances from much of the staff, all seeming surprised that this cat was going to be getting a home and that if at all I wanted to return her, they would take her back.I realized immediately why she was "too much" and kept being returned. She would HOWL late at night and early morning. I looked up this behavior and there were 2 reasons she'd be doing this. 1) hyperthyroidism 2) being an unspayed female...I emailed PAWS immediately because I was not prepared to take on a chronic vet bill, and was convinced that along with the howling, her physiological presentation (no weight in or hair on her back end) and her lack of appetite that she was a cat with hyperthyroidism. PAWS insisted they wouldn't send me home with a cat that had any problems, so they said I could take her back to have their vet look at her.... it was only 2 days in and Miss Kitty began eating so I said I would just keep an eye on her. I set up an appointment with my vet but could not get in until July due to COVID.A few months went by and Miss Kitty began spraying on things, and would HOWL every 3 weeks.....I emailed Paws again again because it was beginning to look like Miss Kitty was not spayed....no answer.I took her to the vet to find 1) no heart murmur regardless of a 3/5 reported on her records from PAWS and 2) no spay scar ....I scheduled an exploratory surgery. She was not spayed and actually had fluid in her uterus, that thankfully did not progress to anything worse. I am still waiting to hear back from PAWS about this oversight. It took no time at all for me to investigate and hypothesize that this cat was not spayed. I can't imagine that by different adopters' statements of Miss Kitty's behaviors, that the staff at PAWS couldn't have had made the same conclusions themselves. I would like my situation to be recognized by them, and to at least be re compensated my adoption fee. Never mind have the surgery be compensated.I love my cat, and am glad she has a home in which she will be properly vetted...at this point I laugh at the idea that this cat was in a shelter when she could have fended just as well for herself had she been out in the street.

The woman that was at the desk on 8/16/19 wasn't welcoming at all and very rude. I don't know why she's there because she doesn't want people to adopt any kitties I wanted two they would of have had a good home. Chris was there the day before she was pleasant very helpful. I give Chris 5 stars and the other woman -2 stars.

Whatever you do, do not trust Paws Cat Shelter CT. They stole my kittens from me without any documentation or right. I was supposed to get two kittens from a family friend and Paws was supposed to do a wellness check on them and they said that would take a few days - a week. Now they are saying that the kittens were surrendered to them (which is not true at all) and that I would have to wait three months to receive the kittens after they get fixed and microchipped and all of that. I have asked for proof of a surrender and then they blocked me on Facebook because they’re thieves and liars. They stole the cats from my friend and didn’t contact her for 3 weeks because they want money out of it. I had already set up a vet appointment for them to be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, wellness, and nail clipping. They now made me fill out an application and pay them money to get my kittens back?! I would not trust this shelter if I were you as they are money hungry and will steal just so they can make money off of your OWN animals.

My husband and I adopted our fur baby, Willow, from P.A.W.S two years ago. We visited the shelter a number of time to find the perfect kitty for us.Willow was a tiny grey kitty with so much personality, love, and affection. We took her to our Vet within a week of her adoption . She had a very bad heart murmur. Our Vet told us that she probably would not outgrow the murmur because it was so bad.We had the vet check for the ID chip that PAWS was suppose to have given her, they hadn't chipped her. We couldn't have her spayed, the surgery could kill her. We we're told what to watch for when her condition got worse and when to make the decision to put her to sleep. Willow died very quickly on a Monday morning. We had Willow for 18 months, she was " my little girl". Not a day goes by that we don't miss her. We believe that the Woodstock PAWS needs better veterinary care

Adopted a kitten from them December 1. Being an experience cat owner I was expecting no issues at home - until she started sneezing and had her eyes shut, wheezing like you couldn’t believe (nothing like this at the shelter). Brought her back for meds (twice) which was nice of the shelter. However, she got my other cat sick who is older and now he’s been having issues since she’s been here. I had brought my older cat to the vet and paid a hefty sum for meds, then getting more from the shelter which was also very nice of them. However my point is this could’ve all been avoided should my kitten not have been so damn sick. Got paperwork in the mail afterwards of her history - said in October she was getting the same meds, so they knew she was sick...yet still let her get adopted, not checking to see if she was still sick or not.

I volunteer here about once or twice a week. The staff/volunteers are all wonderful. They take such good care of the cats in this shelter and welcome visitors with great attitudes and are hopeful that every cat here finds a forever home!

We adopted two kittens from PAWS and were told they were healthy and ready to go home. Both cats had infections and conjunctivitis. One kitten responded to treatment and the other hasn't responded as well. We have already had 5 (tomorrow is the 6th) expensive vet appointments to try to heal this VERY sick poor little kitten. When I reached out informing them they were sick I never received a response. Do NOT go with this shelter.**Update**After several blood transfusions, antibiotics, tests, syringe feeding, and every bit of love we could have given to our little one he was dying and we had to put him down. It was the hardest few months we have ever had with a pet.

Very friendly caring people at PAWS. They do great work with the animals. They asked questions and really seemed concerned. I would recommend this place for anyone looking into adopting or rehomeing a cat or kitten. :)

I have had a great experience with PAWS. I got my kitten Nacho from them 5 months ago and he has grown into a loving spunky little man. (He's 7 months old now). I''m so greatful for the care that he recieved while he was with his foster. I would highly recommend adopting from PAWS.

I adopted a wonderful kitten from PAWS, but it had a horrible disease and died in a few months. I called the office to tell them, and have them follow up with families that adopted from the same litter, but they have never done that. I am very disappointed in PAWS. Wish I could give NO STARS.

The staff here is great. We had some problems with our adoption, but they did not give us any issues. They were concerned about the cat of course, but they were also concerned about our experience. Highly recommended.

Absolutely not impressed with anything involving PAWS CT. Had Loki less than 4 months before he died of kitty leukemia. The shelter never tested him. Incurred a $545 dollar bill from Tufts trying to save him. The shelter indicated they would refund my adoption fee of $100 when I called to inquire if he was tested based on the adoption paperwork I received. Here we are weeks later and they still "haven't found the time" to drop a check in the mail because they are "short staffed". You allowed me to adopt a sick animal because you didn't have enough staff to test. My children and I watched him suffer and die and now I get to pay $545 and you don't have time to drop a check in the mail. Yea. Ok. Note to my Facebook friends Do. Not. Go. Here.
