Worst of the worst Stop and Shop stores! Employees all have bad attitudes. Produce is not fresh. Meat is shipped in from who knows where. Maintenance of the facility is bad. Shelf stockings during business hours is a pain for customers! Manager should be fired!

How this place has 3 stars is beyond me. It’s the worst groceey store I've ever been to. Never stocked, empty shelves, dingy, crowded, never enough cashier Lanes open amd the self checkout machines are outdated and obnoxious. I hate going in here and only go in severe emergency.

April 2023 - I'm really happy to see that Stop and Shop Winsted has brought in a new provider of Waterbury bread. Like many devotees, we were shocked when the famed bakery that made Arturo's Napolitano, Milite's enriched Italian rolls and other real Italian breads closed. We actually drove around to various stores that carried these brands to see if we could find one lone loaf on a shelf! My partner, who introduced these fine loaves and rolls to me, resigned himself to the fact there was no edible bread anymore. The good news is D'addona Brothers Bakery goods are now available. Their Portuguese rolls are specifically made in Waterbury at the International Bakery of Waterbury, Inc. on Baldwin Street. The Kaiser rolls, Italian and French sliced breads are made next door in Wolcott. Buying a package of each, all have the texture, taste, smell and freshness regular buyers have been missing.#6/08/21 - We were really amazed this Stop and Shop had absolutely zero rotisserie chickens tonight, heated under the lamp, or cold where they place other prepared foods. No hot fried chicken, turkey breast, wings, tenders, ribs...At dinner time? Just before 6:00 PM? We asked the worker by the ovens if there was no chicken available at all, and she said, "Whatever you see there is all we have." In other words, virtually nothing. I've never seen their shelves so bare, even during the height of COVID. All the premade sandwiches were gone, as well. We settled for the one lone cold container of BBQ wings for the guys. I made a sandwich later.I can't imagine the explanation for this lack of food. We could have stopped at another Stop and Shop or market we like very much we had driven by before this one, but decided to get the chicken closest to home so it wouldn't cool in the car. We should have shopped elsewhere and will next time unless grabbing milk or the like. This store used to carry four packs of leg quarters, too, we frequently bought, but were told a month ago or so a company manager informed them they would no longer be supplied with these despite her saying they were big sellers for her. Changes here seem to be on the decline, unfortunately.#Good sized Stop and Shop that's made many improvements over the years. This store has a fuel station where shoppers can use their earned gas points from purchases for a discount at the pumps. Butchers available in the meat department, good variety of fresh fish and produce, and the new hot wing bar has multiple styles.

A Good Store in Winsted, CT. There used to be an IGA, probably closed about 10 years ago. Used to go there sometimes. Would rather go shopping in Torrington, but if I don't have time I can get what I need here for the most part.

I went to your store to purchase a rotisserie chicken at 5 p.m. and guess what, nothing, not even the turkey one. I'm very disappointed.

Rude employee (walking back from S&S gas station) told me and my wife that the store was closed when it was about 5 minutes to closing early time (9pm Sunday) and kept harassing us all the way from the parking lot to the door which was wrongly closed 5 minutes early. At first I didn't realize the lady being rude with us actually worked there because she didn't have her required stop and shop attire on. When we entered the store we got the 1 item we needed quickly and entered checkout before 9pm. Meanwhile the lady who we guess was working the gas station and harassing us on the way in literally went straight to the shift manager, who was (get this) checking out her own personal groceries she got herself on work time and we had to wait for her order to be finished to ring up our 1 item. This is after having to defend ourselves to the shift manager (also a female) who is a regular problem herself, and has been rude in the past, but I let it go. There was no apology whatsoever. I'm livid and disgusted. I spend several thousand dollars per year at this store for 15 years now and this is the way we are treated while simultaneously being price gouged. I can get ripped off for food anywhere, I don't need to be treated this disrespectfully and rudely while being ripped off for basic necessities like food. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars and not 1 star is that there are several other hardworking, NICE and helpful employees there at the Winsted, CT location. The lady who rang us out, Judy is always so friendly and smiles. Never makes a mistake on my watch. The entire deli department is great several of them go above and beyond for us and my family appreciates. Things are stressful enough in these bleak economic times, no one needs the added stress of rude and inappropriate customer service. Our few interactions with the Torrington (next to Walmart) Shop and Shop has been pleasant so far. They even made us fresh fried chicken even though they had just shut off the cookers.Top-notch! I probably will see a store manager about this issue because coming to Winsted is convenient and closer, but I/we will not be abused for that small convenience and I will take my business elsewhere if necessary. There are other details I'll leave out for when I see the store manager, and if I don't like the resolution in that meeting with the store manager and deem it necessary then i will contact the regional management or corporate. #LastStraw

I went to the Stop and Shop in Winsted at 7:45pm for lunch meat. I was told the deli closes at 8 and is no longer open. At 7:45! I was then denied service. Terrible employee. The place sucks

This has been one of the most beautiful Stop & Shop's I've been to, and one that's certainly with the times. This includes self-checkout, Scan & Go scanners as well as iOS/Android app connectivity of the same name, and an aesthetic that's not too overwhelming but also beautiful. This store is also open late, which is great for Winsted given there aren't any other standard supermarkets nearby close to Winsted unless you go out of town.The merchandise quality is decent, the produce is fresh, and there is plenty of stock. This particular store is exceptionally clean, quiet, and efficient. Working with the pharmacy here has also been quite pleasant, and I was about to be in & out in less than 5 minutes for most trips.Overall, this location is bright & spacious, items are of decent quality, & the staff are polite & courteous. This is a great place to stock up on all of your basic needs!

For over half a year there has been a major pothole at the exit of the plaza. This continues to not be addressed by the store. There have been other potholes in the parking lot that the store has not taken care of. It just says to people that the store does not care about its customers or their cars.

I love this stop n shop, one of my favorite ones to go to! The employees are always so nice! Elina that use to work as a cashier but now works in the pharmacy is absolutely amazing! She's always so nice and friendly and very knowledgeable! She is one of the best employees in that store!

I understand that it’s hard to get items in these days, I do, but this stop and shop rarely has half the things in stock that I need. And when I when I do order pick ups, most of my items can’t be found. Part of me thinks that the workers doing the hills for the order pick up, get tired of it, and skimp over many of the items. Also, substituted items are supposed to be cheaper or equal to the price of the original. That never happens. It’s always the more expensive price. As the only grocery store in town, I would expect more from it.

Happy Thanksgiving well maybe not at a lot of people's houses, I think we're going to have some of that nice old Brown Burger from the center of a family pack of burger. Spent the last two weeks trying to get a turkey that's supposed to be on sale but the odd thing is they only have the expensive turkeys, I've been there 6 days still haven't found them, there's nothing sadder than watching a bunch of elderly people back at the meat counter trying to figure out how they're going to spend $50+ for a Butterball turkey when they went there to get a low-cost turkey that was supposed to be on sale, definitely not a turkey shortage they must have a hundred of the other expensive turkeys, didn't think this store could get any worse..........................................................................I sure wish the meat department at this store would stop putting the nasty almost bad brown hamburger in the middle of a family package of hamburger that's on sale, they always did it years ago but lately with the increase in price it's been good hamburger, now they're back to doing it again.

Stop & Shop has always been my go to for grocery store needs, for 20+ yrs. Sure they are more expensive the a couple grocery stores that I have tried. I definitely learned quality over price is no question. Quality always wins. The quality and cleanliness of their produce, meat, seafood department is by far the most well cared for and freshest of other stores. I could go on all day. They are just #1 to me for many reasons.

It's close to my house, so it is convenient.. was the store is always too cold. Especially in the summer. I have to remember to wear a jacket when I go in there. Other than that, everyone there is very helpful.

I used to shop here but will now be shopping elsewhere. There is only ever one cashier at any given time I go in with a long line. Self checkout is nothing but problems and employees are at most unhelpful if they aren't too busy having conversations with other employees or being unnecessarily sarcastic.

I in particular love the employers. I had a lovely older man with a cane and a beard help me with groceries at the self checkout lane. He was very helpful even though I was an annoying customer with $400 worth of groceries having him help me every 3-4 items

Worst management. They always put misleading signs for sale item, and expect the customer to read the bars codes. They never have the basic product in stock. Never shopping here again. I even completed surveys and no one ever reaches out to ask about my complaints, so now I will leave one on google.

The new self checkout systems are horrible. The fact that you have to place every single last item in your shopping cart in the bagging area waste so much time and is very inconvenient. Definitely takes away any joy of shopping here.

I hate leaving bad reviews. But WOW the self checkout here is the absolute worst!! I don’t know what they did to these systems but it freaks out with the slightest movement of an item, cannot take your bags off the baggage area, and it randomly detects “un-bagged items” when nothing had been placed. I was not the only one frustrated with this, everyone around me kept complaining. I also felt bad for the girl working the self checkout section as she had to keep running to everyone to fix the systems. She was going non stop... these systems have to be changed. Back to the way they were. I only left a bad rating due to these systems otherwise my rating would be higher as staff is very friendly and helpful!!

I want to start off by stating my family shops here pretty much daily and have never really had an issue besides the produce sometimes but today I decided to go to the service desk over an issue with self checkout I was having to see if anything could be done, when I got there three people were standing around 2 of them talking while I stood there awkwardly which in my opinion was terrible customer service when I walked over to the third I ended up asking about the self checkout issue I was having and that's when the fun began as I was redirected to an employee walking by by the name of Sandy. I started off slow letting her know that as a regular the self checkout weight problem was becoming an issue and was starting to detir me from shopping there. Instead of offering any solution or even simply telling me that she would talk to her higher up and see if anything could be done or even at least make a note of it to them but instead no she told me she was sorry there was absolutely nothing she could do and when I said I was ready to take my business elsewhere her reply was " Okay " she was very smug and rude in our exchange telling me she'd love to hear my opinion while cutting me off several times. I just feel like the customer service in this store isn't there and that even the management needs more training because that's where issues start when managers feel like it's alright to devalue customers I'd love to receive a call about my review and to hear that something was actually done with not only the rude employee but the self checkout also which has been a disaster, Until then a new customer of Big Y

Winsted Stop n Shop I don't care for due to produce such as fruit Mold or other fresh veggies should be heading to the garbage and not home. I go to Torrington Stop n Shop due to the fact that the produce is always fresh, knock on wood but so far no complaints😊
