I’ve been a patron of the Windsor Locks Family Dollar for over the last seven years and in the last year the store has absolutely gone to the dogs. The store took a nose dive once the last manager, I believe, Mark was let go. He was always welcoming, warm, respectful and helpful. The new manager, Ajaya has a very nasty attitude, once refused to return a customer’s item that she had just bought within the day because she didn’t have a receipt. The customer even asked her to contact the cashier who was there that day to vouch that she was there and purchased the item. The kicker was, the cashier didn’t even give her the receipt. The manager was very rude and dismissed the woman even though she admitted to me once the customer left I asked, “couldn’t you just have recorded her DL’s info? That item cost $5!” The manager then said, “Yes, but I don’t feel like doing all of that” and chuckled. This was the beginning of things I noticed that was really wrong. Many times, she is ringing customer’s out while on video calls and having personal conversations out loud. My point is that she has set the tone for how some others act. Within this last week, I’ve visited this store three times, of those three times the same worker Jennifer, was on duty. The first visit was between 4:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. and as she stands at the front door of the store smoking a cigarette, she waits for my daughter to get to the door and looks at her and said, “I’m on my 15, the store is closed.” We left, I came back on Monday, March 20th at about 7:30 p.m. and Jennifer was once again standing in front of the store, as I got out of my vehicle she yelled out, “I’m on my 30, store is closed.” I then asked her out loud, “why is it the store always closed when I come here?” Jennifer said, “What?” I repeated my question. Jennifer then rolls her eyes and sucks her teeth at me, walks into the store and locks the door (this is all during the listed open hours for the store), I then left. Finally, yesterday, Tuesday, March 21st at about 5:45 p.m. I entered the store to purchase two items. I placed the first item on the counter by the register and went to get the other item, where Jennifer happened to be (in one of the aisles). I stood about 3 feet away from her and said, “I do not like the way you spoke to me yesterday, it was rude and unprofessional, I just asked you a question!” Again, she sucked her teeth and said, “you can pick that up with my manager.” We both walked toward the register where I stood at the open register and she walked around to the register through the opposite way. As I stood there ready to pay for my items, she picked up her phone and said, “you need to leave the store!” I said, “for what? I questioned why is the store constantly closed during scheduled open hours and said that you were rude and unprofessional yesterday.” I then told her, “you know what, thats why you’re stuck right here, walked out of the store, popped my head back in when I noticed I didn’t have her name (she wasn’t wearing a badge, but was wearing a name plate chain that says, “Jennifer”). So many customers are complaining of the lack of customer service, the operation of the store/schedule, the prices listed not matching what is ringing (higher prices) and the manager saying for over 7 months that they’re changing prices. Something needs to happen, I’ve never had such issues visiting this store until about the last year.

It’s snowing and like others I thought no one would be shopping, I just needed a few things. I get up to the register and the manager is on the phone, I said ‘Your busy today’ she said in a condescending tone, ‘yeah, everyone thought they should come on over here and shop even though it’s snowing’ rolled her eyes and made a disgusted sound, I asked her if she was OK because this is not how you speak to customers, Cmon, we get it, you don’t want to be there working, Then don’t Manager Jaya, the customers don’t deserve to be spoken to like they are a burden on you, your attitude was really inappropriate, do better.

I use to love this store. The employees changed for the better and it got cleaner then one day I go and they’re closed. Every single time I think of going and taking the gamble the store is closed. This is ridiculous. All of a sudden it became low staffed and I don’t blame them things have been tough but get some people in there. This is terrible. Shut it down if it’s going to be closed most of the time. We don’t have to guess when you are open and like someone said we come before 6 and the doors are locked. Get it together.

Family Dollar has had its problems in the past months but I thought it had been straightened out when I was told they're open till 9:00 at night again instead of closing at 3:00 p.m. I went there tonight at 7:00 p.m. and got out of my car and head some girl in a red shirt yellow over if you're going to family Dollar it's closed I said it's always closed and she screams back well we deserve a break too real snotty even though up by the door there was another employee in a red shirt so they both have to take break at the same time and close the doors? Really?

The staff is always so nice and friendly. They are always there to help me. It's so clean in there 😍.Edit.. This store has gone to hell within the past few months. Idk what family dollar has done its nasty they don't greet you anymore when you walk in its not pleasant at all. All the staff that was there is gone and it seems so bleak.. Its messy and uncomfortable just walking in there. I started going across the bridge to dollar general its a better atmosphere and a more enjoyable experience.

I have been going to this store for over 10 plus years and have seen it decline both in service and professional courtesy from staff. The tone is very unpleasant and even insulting at times from the staff members that are being hired. Windsor Locks is a very pleasant town with good respectable people who always are willing to assist you in your needs but lately since the pandemic we are getting some very rude personnel. I have decided after years of taking my business here to take it else where.

This store is never ever open . Idk if they’re the employees are scamming the system or what big there store is always closed . Like I wonder if DT/ Family Dollar ever get red flags if a store don’t make money bc that one definitely does not it’s always closed with all the lights on .

If you want to be racially profiled this is the place.The AA cashier who was on duty should be trained to do her job better and not to think or assume that not all Spanish are out to steal from a cheap store after all we paid for everything we got.

I was in the store I pick up twin of spray the self said 6.00 it ring up at 690 I told the manager the self said 6.00 she said she can not give to me for6.00 I told her that is again the law she said no it not I will not shop at that family dollar again

This store needs to either shut down or change your hours permanently rather than making us guess whether or not you are really openHere at 6 on a Tuesday night you have a sign that says your open and the doors are locked. This has happened the last 3 times ive tried to come here. This is ridiculous. I'm done with this store.

I always stop here when I'm in the area. So many seasonal decor items for $5. Some are more, some are less, but most are only $5. They go fast!!

really wishe i could give this no stars i am so mad at this store i had my two boys in the store and one had to use the bath room about to poop on his self and they told me sorry we dont a bath room please tell me how yall go pee while you guys are at work i know they dont go to any of the other store to pee because I ASKED each store myself, my son almost pooped him self . i always have my kids to use our bathroom before we live our home but it happens KIDS have to use the bath room and to tell a 10 year old child that is standing in your store and cant move because if he does he is scared he will poop his self he CANT USE YOUR BATHROOM IS WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i will never spend a nother dime in your store ever again and i am telling everone i know about this in hopes they will not come there eirther .... And also new flash you cant catch anything from a toilet set!!!!! if thats what you guys at Family dollar in windsor locks ct
