Met with new vet to try to determine what might be causing 13 year old Bichon need to pee all the time. she explained that since he was on antibiotics we need to wait for additional testing until all the antibiotics are done and then wait another 5 days. Will be coming back for either an x-ray or an ultrasound to determine if he has bladder stones.Dr. Renee Hartshorn, DVM was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. Our experience was very positive. Her care and concern was what you look for in a vet. In making a change from Dr. Mooney we are pleased she is taking over where he left off.

Our long-time vet retired last year, so when our 12.5 year old black lab, Scout, started to show signs of kidney issues, I had to find somewhere fast. Hopmeadow took us in that day and treated her as if they were her lifelong vet. Scout ended up not making it due to acute liver and kidney failure. They had sent us home with food and meds that helped her feel much more comfortable before she passed. They sent us a card with wildflower seeds to plant for her when we let them know. This was back in February 2023 and we are rescuing a 2 y/old catahoula in October. I will be taking her here for the rest of her life as well. Thank you Hopmeadow Animal Hospital for the amazing care.

We have been going to Hopmeadow Animal Hospital with our dogs since rescuing them 7 years ago. This past month my big boy developed lung cancer unexpectedly. The veterinarians and all the staff at Hopmeadow were understanding, knowledgeable, and caring towards during the whole process. When we lost our boy last night, I called to give them the weekly update this morning and was met with nothing but love and respect from Judy at the front desk. I recommend this office to anyone who loves their pet as a family member, as they will too.

The staff at Hopmeadow are not only kind and sweet to the animals they service, but they’re the same way to the humans bringing them in. This goes a long way for sure. Today I had to euthanize one of my cats. Ziggy was 15 years old and in a lot of discomfort. Everyone at Hopmeadow Animal Hospital was sensitive to my feelings regarding his options. Knowing he probably would not survive anesthesia and surgery, I chose euthanasia. The doctor and staff did everything they could to make Ziggy comfortable as well as help me through this, and I could not be more grateful. You need a sensitive, empathetic group of people around. you when you make decisions like this. I'm glad I had that support all around me this morning at Hopmeadow Animal Hospital.

Hopmeadow animal hospital is by far the best vet in the hartford county. But even then they still have some internal practices that are unethical. Sadly this industry is corrupted with vets who are more concerned with profit than helping animals. This is probably the best vet in the county but they still dont take a holistic approach with your pets health sadly.

Excellent service provided to my dogs here! The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and great at comforting my dogs through their annual vaccinations and check ups. It can be a bit pricey, but not much more than anything else in the area, from what I can tell. And the experience I've had there every time I've gone has been outstanding enough that it's worthwhile. (It's also in a very convenient location right off Hopmeadow, which is easy to get to and has enough parking that it's never been an issue for me.)You can purchase a number of medications (including Heartgard and Nexgard) directly from them while checking out after your appointment. The vets, vet techs, receptionists, and all their staff we've interacted with have been lovely!

I was looking for a new vet closer to my home and decided to come here based on the excellent reviews online. Overall we had a wonderful experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful and gave our dog, Sgt. Pepper, ALL the love. The only thing I would’ve liked was to see the facility. The office is closed to the public due to the pandemic so they come to the car to get your pet, the doctor calls you during the appointment, you pay over the phone, and your pet is returned to your car. They have a great system worked out, but as a new client I think that a quick tour of the facility would’ve been nice, just to see where my pet is going to be without me. I’m looking forward to our next appointment with Hopmeadow Animal Hospital!

We found ourselves needing a new regular vet at the height of Covid due to significant issues at our former vets office.I was upset at the thought of finding a new vet, one that I couldn't even meet in person due to social distancing. After asking for references online for a "highstrung" kitty, I called Hopmeadow for a 1st visit, knowing so many offices were not taking "new patients".Hopmeadow was absolutely wonderful. They saw my problem kitty and have a plan for seeing him in the future - with a bit of calming medication to make it easier for him and us. (Yes please! I love my cat, but he is a scared handful!) We started bringing our other cats there as well. Since then we have had several checkups, a respiratory infection, and a few dental surgeries. I have been thrilled with how sensitive they are to each cats personality and needs. I have still to meet Dr. Mooney, but feel like we have gotten to know him through the detailed phone conversations after each visit. He explains everything fully and I have never felt rushed or unable to ask questions. When asking questions Dr. Mooney has been very supportive and answers fully, explaining as much as I need. Very highly recommend.

I am pleased to have the opportunity to rate Hopmeadow Animal Hospital as highly as possible.I have been bringing my 2 pugs there for 10 years since I brought them into my home as puppies. From routine care to a serious medical condition, I have always felt comfortable and secure in the knowledge that my dogs get the very best care. On a routine basis, the staff is friendly and helpful without fail. Plus, if you want a smart and sweet Vet, Dr. Hal Mooney is the one. He clearly loves animals and his work.I want to add that my pugs are the first pets I have ever had so my learning curve was huge for quite awhile. I am very grateful that Hopmeadow Animal Hospital staff proved to be exceptional guides and teachers for me from the start.

I've been taking my dogs and cats to Hopmeadow Animal Hospital for approx. 33 years now - even when I lived 30 miles away! The doctors and the staff have always taken great care with my precious pets, and I can't think of a time when they ever made me feel hesitant about leaving one in their care.I feel that the doctors there have always stayed up-to-date on latest treatments and feel very confident in Dr. Mooney's surgical skills whenever needed. After-care is superb as well.I highly recommend this facility to anyone who wants the best for their pets.

Dr. Hal (Mooney) and his staff have the best Vet practice!The front staff are friendly and helpful with scheduling your appointments whether by a phone call or in person. They are dedicated to making your visit as comfortable as possible.My dog loves the attention and affection she receives at every visit.I have never felt "rushed" through the visit or left not having a plan with all my concerns addressed .Dr."Hal" is simply the best ! I recently brought my kitten in to get some vaccines and it was a really good experience. I liked the curbside method they’re using during covid. The staff was really great that I met handing off my kitten and that I talked to on the phone. The prices were moderate, being $61 for a wellness visit, $50 for a fecal test, and around $40 for a vaccine. I’d advise you ask ahead of time for prices so there are no surprises. Overall, I really liked the experience and I will make this our new vet.

The staff and care at Hopmeadow Animal Hospital is top notch. Last year, we adopted a cat with multiple medical needs. Dr. Hal and his staff have been so kind, patient and so diligent with his care. He is thorough, explains the diagnosis and prognosis in terms our whole family can understand and follows up. Our cat is so relaxed and calm when he is there - he knows he is in good hands!
