We took our dog for grooming. The store was closed. No one was at the door. Then my husband waited in his Car until store open at 9am 1 hour waiting for the staff person to say she had come to the door and she did not see anyone. Terrible customer service. There were no instructions that store would be close at the appointment time and or what to do if no one was at the door. Also no courtesy call to check up on client.

This petco (Waterbury) refused to bathe my dog because of his age. He turned 17 today, this is discrimination. All I wanted was to pamper him on his special day. I take my dog to petco all the time to take a bath. This location is very rude and unprofessional. Wouldn’t even assist me at booking him an appointment at a nearby location. I will be contacting petco directly.

I went in today totally lost on how to care for an orphaned squirrel and I was helped by your employee Sadie. I just have to say your store is absolutely beyond lucky to have such a warm, caring and knowledgeable employee. Sadie made me feel more at ease by helping me by googling needs for this poor baby that we intend to take care of until he/she is ready to leave our nest. It is very rare to have an employee like Sadie these days. How refreshing it was to have her work with me. I will look for Sadie any time I come to your waterbury ct store. My first experience with leaving my dog to be groomed was not pleasant. The person I worked with was extremely rough in handling my dog to get him to the back room. I left feeling nauseous and uneasy. I remained anxious for the duration of the wait time at home. I was not at ease until I picked him back up. I will not be bringing my dog back to petco to be groomed.

I had the best customer service experience ever today from Dane!! My boyfriend and I came in today looking to possibly get a hamster. Dane was extremely patient, showed us so many options, and let us hold several guinea pigs, hamsters, and mice. He genuinely wanted to help find the best pet for us, and find the best homes for the pets. He was so knowledgeable about every animal and answered every question we had. After we settled on getting a mouse, he went above and beyond walking around the store with us showing us the best options for housing and food, and helped us save with a discount plan at checkout! I could not recommend this store enough, make sure to ask for Dane’s help and you’ll be set!! It’s so comforting to be helped by someone who cares just as much about the animals as the people adopting them. Thank you again Dane, you absolutely made our day!!

When I went, I was looking at the guinea pigs, and I saw one all by himself with no other guinea pigs. He did not have any hay. He was so skinny had barely any bedding and looked like he was shivering. You guys need to feed your guinea pigs. Please let me know if he gets a home if he doesn’t please let me know.

Some of the animals really need some extra care and help.Lepord geckos in very poor condition, stuck shed, and dropped tails. Crickets roaming around enclosure( bite risk) and calcium sand for substrate (impaction risk).Many other animals in poor conditions as well.Extremely sad

Unfortunately I had a bad experience with the vetco services provided in petco. 1)I paid for a vaccine my dog was never given. It is the staff members job to let you know if you need to return for a shot , otherwise you will think that you are receiving the shot you are paying for the same day you pay.2)I scheduled an appointment for heartwarming and parasitic prevention ( my dogs are already up to date on there shots) but instead received shots I did not consent to. 3) The staff member was texting me from a phone prior to my visit. I clearly state that I am bringing in my dogs for heartwarming/ parasitic treatment. She said , yes, they would do that service for my dogs. 4) She did an entirely different thing than discussed. 5) I did not sign or consent to anything she secretly wrote in her tablet! I am requesting a full refund and / or the appropriate treatment I was at vetco for . I recommend that they provide the necessary retraining for the staff members that check in animal owners.

Beware when shopping here and using a debit card. They will tell you the charge did not go through because the receipt didn’t print and you’d have to pay again. even after showing them it went through all they say is you can pay again or walk away with nothing. Their customer service reps are awful and won’t help at all. So thanks Petco for robbing me.

Today I took my dog to get groomed I have a standard poodle who had medium length, thick hair. When I walked in I asked what length they recommended I go because I was willing to get his hair cut shorter due to summer coming. Amanda was finger combing through his hair as she recommended a 5F, the grid of hair length showed that it was short, but still enough hair to cover his whole body. I made sure to tell them to trim his nail and make sure to do his ears- I stressed about his ears. 3hrs later while picking him up, Amanda said she found a tick on him and didn’t pull it out correctly, so the head is still in and I needed to deal with it when I got home. She also said she didn’t do his ears, something that is customary with a poodle grooming. When we got home his ears were red and irritated despite them not being done. In regards to his coat he has almost no hair on him. The length is similar to that of a vet after a procedure. I found places where she nicked him with the razor, shaved him way too short, and didn’t bother to comb and just buzzed through it. You can see his skin is red and aggravated. There was absolutely no reason for them to cut him that short- especially after promising me that he would still have some length. His nails were also cut too short and unevenly. They charged me extra money for a bath for a “long haired LG dog” and to shave and brush out a “long haired LG dog” yet they clearly used a number 10 clipper on him. I’m disgusted by the blatant disregard for what I requested, and the lack of courtesy of not even calling before they shaved my dog down to his skin. They took the easy way out by shaving him down rather than taking the time to do it right. Poodle owners beware!Attached are a before and after pictures:

I was annoyed that I ordered all I needed for my pups. It showed online they were available at the store. When the items were picked up, I only got 4 of the 8 items that I needed. I wasn't given a call or a heads-up. That wasn't communicated until after I asked what had happened to the rest of the items. The gentleman gave me a blanket response and said that an email was sent to me and it would explain it there. This place is still understaffed and the manager on duty was rude. We explained to her that we were charged twice and she affirmed that it wasn't charged. We ran the card again and went on our way. We came back 2 hours later because we learned that our card was indeed charged twice and when confronted, she didn't want to believe she made a mistake. We tried to have her listen to the transaction because the app wasn't working and she did not want to listen. She insisted on a receipt for the error transaction. We told her we didn't get one because we were not charged to her knowledge. My friend was getting upset as she was because none of them were letting the other speak. I took over the conversation and had both parties speak as the other listened. She wasn't having that because I was being rude. I explained to her that a manager should always listen to the problem before interrupting. She gave me a hasty remark and an attitude and reminded her of her behavior. Once everyone got their thoughts together, she proceeded to see that there was an error an issued the refund.

Petco doesn’t have a bag?I ordered 3 item and only get one. they Don’t sended me a email or a notification letting me know that they don’t have the items they only send what they have without letting you know. I call then to ask about the other 2 items and the customer services was very stupid and aggressive. I love the store but poor customer service and very poor delivery.

The fish specialist gave me the wrong kind of food for my fish, and 1 out of 3 fish I bought died after a day because it was sick when I bought it already. Don't trust fish specialists here. Waterbury Aquarium has much better quality and price.

Sara, my dog Piper's groomer is the best I have seen and I have had dogs getting groomed for over 35 years once every 4 to 6 weeks.We moved from Monroe CT to Waterbury CT and the groomers I used were too far and decided to give Petco a try and I am glad I did. Sara is a hell of a groomer

I found the store in general to be neat and tidy however they lacked a good variety of feeder insects which I went there for. I generally only buy feeder insects through petco cause normally they have better variety then petsmart but petco is also slightly more expensive & does not price match. With the amount of feeders I go thru and frequency in which I need to buy them I prefer petsmart for their price matching & general lower prices. I don't live near this petco & only decided to stop there as I was passing thru on my way home

I like them better than pet smart. There brand is cheaper and healthier too of dog and cat food. Better fish section as well. Smaller but worth it. Plus pet smart got this thing against and type of dog with the word bull in it especially pitbull so take urs here promise u wont be disappointed.

Very rude staff. My 20 year old daughter practically left in tears tonight after the way she was treated by the lady in the fish department. After leaving her waiting for about 35 minutes to get two fish (because she was trying to make herself look busy by poking through some of the tanks, pretty sure she just didn’t wanna be bothered) She finally gave my daughter some of her time and got out the two fish she wanted and brought them to the register.

All the associates were very helpful. The woman at the front who called to get us help for picking out a fish tank to the gentleman who helped find everything we needed to the associate that carried it to the car, everyone was amazing. This is a stressful busy time of year and everyone was amazing helping my dad find a new fish tank after it was cracked during a move. Thanks to all of you.
