Love the new location. And it's closer. Makes me spend more. I'm sure they like that. Plus the store itself is great. This place must dominate the aquarium hobby in a big radius. There aren't exactly a lot of options in this hobby and the few other places you can go don't specialize in this anyways and don't have the same quality of care in my opinion for their livestock. Great selection, fair prices, knowledgeable friendly staff. The owner has been in the hobby for a long time now. He's come a long way. What else can I say. I enjoy every visit. Keep it up!

Phenomenal fish store with phenomenal people. Blake & Brandon have tons of knowledge as well as all of the other employees. They are extra friendly and welcoming and I can’t think of a better place to visit if you want to start fish keeping or are already in the hobby. Highly recommend :)

My first time at this store. One of my patients raved about it so I figured I would visit with my daughter who also caught the fishkeeping fever. I recently upgraded to a 75-gallon freshwater tropical tank and wanted to check out their live plant selection. An older gentleman offered to assist but when I asked about their "red" plant selection, he sounded a bit condescending. I have been keeping fish for just about 30 years and already have a heavily planted aquarium so I know what certain plants need. My daughter also noticed his attitude and pointed it out to me as we were walking out. The young man at the register, on the other hand, was very nice and informative. I must say that the prices and quality of the animals and plants are very competitive. Just a bit of customer service improvement needed.

The best prices I have found so far, the employees explain everything you need to know about freshwater and saltwater fish. They have a wide variety of different freshwater and saltwater fish. Nobody beats you on prices

I've had fish tanks all my life and this is by far the best place I've been to. They've got an incredible selection of fresh and salt water fish/creatures, great prices and a very helpful staff. 10/10!

Can’t say enough nice things about this place. I just picked up a moray eel from them, but the staff was so helpful and knowledgeable. Clean location. Plenty of freshwater and saltwater choices. Priced fairly.

Very knowledgeable staff. Big selection, but not much in the way of unique species. Was hoping they had Thai micro crabs, but they didn't. They did however have some dwarf freshwater lobsters. Some of their prices were high- like they charge a dollar per ghost shrimp but I get them 2 for a dollar near Springfield MA. Overall I'd say it was worth the hour drive just to check them out, though.

Absolutely blown away by the selection and prices at Blake's Aqua Den! These have to be some of the best deals in New England! They had such an amazing location and the prices are the best I have ever seen. The staff is so helpful, knowledgeable and honest. This is definitely the only aquarium store I will be using in the future! Highly recommend Blake's Aqua Den!!!

These guys have ALWAYS been so helpful and patient. They really know their stuff. What we like about the takes is that they are not all sharing the same water from one tank to the next. No rs8k of other fish, in different tanks, getting sick. With that said, their fish always look healthy. Been going there for years.Was going to the Meriden store. Now they are in Wallingford, about 2 years now.

Blake's Aqua Den appears to be the Aquarium Hobby staple warehouse retailer in Connecticut, and for good reason. The store is well stocked, has plenty of associates on shift at all times for questions and tank-netting, is clean and easy to navigate, and animals appear to be relatively well cared for while waiting for a home. As I venture into the aquarium hobby, Blake's will be my go-to for specimens, equipment, and food.

Love that we have this local fish store near by. Employees are all well educated and super willing to help you learn about there fish and corals. They keep it 💯 which I love because they don't just wanna take your money, they want to help you achieve the best aquarium for your home. I recommend this LFS to anyone in town and out. I currently have 3 tanks now I'm my home and they were all started by going to Blakes.

Owner was very rude when asking simple questions. Seemed to have a very large ego. Im an aquarium hobbiest of 12yrs and went to the store seeking a bit of knowledge (no one knows everything) and the owner almost made it a point to belittle me in front of my girlfriend for looking for information. Very sad cause I was a huge fan of their store before they moved to their new location. New store is lack luster, not a crazy selection, nothing very mind blowing in there. If it's the only shop in your area I'd think about going to petco. Not worth the price or the possibility of getting talked down to over.

Great place and great service. Very helpful staff. Always a great selection of fresh water and salt water fish, and corals. They also carry many tank supplies. They have made special orders if we can't find what we need.Blake's has moved to a new location in Wallingford. The store is spacious and their stock is expanding. All the tanks and equipment has moved. Same great store. New location.

Absolutely fantastic place!!! Knowledgeable staff, super friendly and interested in helping newbies to the hobby. We love going and growing our aquariums (we now have 2) and the staff is always helpful and patient with us. The variety of fish, plants, & supplies is fantastic. Our favorites are the Mexican dwarf lobsters and the many varieties of tetra!

First time in the store today and the selection of fish was awesome. The prices were great. And the staff was extremely knowledgeable. They had many unique and delicate fish that looked fat and healthy eating frozen. Will definitely be back!

We’ve been going to Blake’s since we really started to get into the hobby. They’ve introduced us to some really cool fish. One of which is a hybrid we have never seen anywhere else. Earlier this year we randomly got that fish and recently decided she needed a buddy so we went back in hopes of getting another similar kind. They had the exact one we were looking for! The people who were there are always knowledgeable and friendly and so helpful with our questions. Shout out to the lady who helped us, didn’t catch her name, but she was full of helpful knowledge. Also, love the new store!!

Hands down the best fish enthusiast store in CT. Their aquariums are always so well kept and impeccable; which I look for to buy healthy fish. Alex is always so helpful and knowledgeable. He single handedly helped me pick out all of my Cichlids for my 75 gallon African Cichlid tank. Blake has always been very helpful as well. He's even ordering me a very special Malawi species. Thanks guys!!!

I recently acquired a 55 gallon tank with a beautiful discus fish, and I noticed he was hiding a lot, even after a few weeks. The woman I got the tank from, informed me that he lost his mate recently, and so I thought it would be a good idea to get him a friend. I was told that Blake’s was the place to go. When we got there I was very impressed with their selection, but couldn’t find the Discus on my own, so I proceeded to seek help from a staff member towards the front of the store. An older gentlemen I thought could have been the owner. I asked him where I would find what I was looking for, and was quite taken back by the short, cold, and attitude filled response I got. He directed me on where to look and when I went back to the front to let him know that I wanted to purchase one he continued to be rude. I let him know that I am not very experienced when it comes to fish, even though the discus is technically an advanced fish. (I didn’t choose to have him he came with the tank) and I just wanted to learn more and I was hoping that he could help and educate me. Every question I had was answered with a snarky tone like I was annoying him. I even asked my husband once we got to the car if his behavior was just in my head and asked him if I had possibly done something or said something to deserve such hostile treatment. I heard so many good things about their store and I was very excited to check it out, and my experience was completely ruined by this man’s reaction to me. I still brought home a discus, and the second I added it to the tank, my other one instantly perked up and came out of hiding. He started following our new guy around and even started defending him from our 3 Angel fish. The gentleman I’m referring too, and an employee from another store suggested raising our tanks water temp a couple degrees, so I made sure to do so and all of our fish are thriving. So all in all, I love their selection, but the initial Gentleman helping me let me leave the store asking myself if I had done something to deserve that kind of treatment. I really just wanted to learn and it’s a shame he was so quick to dismiss me, instead of educate me.

A very good place, very surprised given such a small town. The area is lucky to have this place. Not a single thing stood out as bad or not really good enough for the livestock. They had lots of unusual stuff you don't get at every aquarium store, so that was good. Nice corals and saltwater too. Great selection for such a small shop. Very well done.

Blakes has moved to Wallingford. The new store is huge. They have a great selection of fish , plants, coral. Many fish that you just don't see anywhere else around Connecticut. They are selling tanks now too. I saw from 5.5 gallon up to 125 gallons. All kin ds of dry and frozen food as well as all the other stuff you need to start or maintain an aquarium. The owner and staff there are very knowledgeable. Go check it out.
