Love everything about Happy Hound! Facility is top notch and very clean! Laura and staff are knowledgeable, caring and very attentive to the well-being of all their doggy clients! They work very hard to think of fun and creative activities throughout the year while also keeping a well-balanced daily routine for my boy, Stitch. He absolutely adores his time there! Highly recommend!

My Border Collie Hutch has gone to Happy Hounds 2 mornings a week for over a year. The staff is amazing there! They love your dog, watch over them, have fun with them, tell me stories of who he plays with and always praises him! If you have any concerns or questions they are more than happy to give you the time to talk. Hutch always gets excited when he enters the Happy Hounds waiting room which tells the story of how much he enjoys his stay there!

Our dog Rhodie could not be happier attending Happy Hound. Laura (the owner) is a wealth of knowledge and kindness. She treats every dog as if they were her own. Her staff is as dedicated as she is and they all hold each other to a high standard of accountability. Rhodie has a huge amount of energy and she comes home from Happy Hound exhausted. The daycare does a variety of things (arts & crafts/school photos/secret Santa/contests) that really makes you feel like your dog is part of a community. All staff members are able to tell me about my girl’s day at pick up, so you can tell the communication between everyone is clear. Rhodie has made many friends and nearly busts through the car door to get in the daycare each morning. She comes home clean, happy, and exhausted each night ready to snuggle with her family. The facility is SO clean, sometimes I wonder if there are actually dogs there. Especially because the environment is so peaceful, I’ve never heard barking. I feel it’s because Laura does not keep dogs in kennels, and her and her staff have full control over the dogs and the building. We will be loyal customers forever. Thank you for loving our baby just as much as we do!

We love Happy Hound! Our dog, Gracie, attends daycare twice a week and absolutely loves it. We adopted her a few months ago and started bringing her about a month ago to socialize her more with different dogs and people. Seeing how she's gone from so nervous that she was trying to run out the door the first week to being so much more confident and excited that she can't wait to get there has been amazing. It's also nice that she's EXHAUSTED when she gets home and even into the next day.The owner and staff are all so friendly and answer any questions we have. We did a lot of research into different options before we decided on Happy Hound, and we couldn't be happier with our experience.

Happy Hound Daycare has been such a big help to us! The life skills training Loki, our now 3 year old mixed breed rescue received helped him to pass both his AKC CGC- a & b certifications. He loves to go to Happy Hounds and see his pack! Laura and her team always demonstrate their care & concern for his well-being as well as being firm with him when he needs it. We appreciate Happy Hounds!

Alyssa provided some personal training classes for our Winnie. She was extremely helpful and consistent. Winnie was extremely responsive with her…Now it is our turn to put in place everything we have learned. Thanks Alyssa!!

Happy hound is literally Ralphies 2nd home. He’s excited to go everyday. Laura and her support staff are the best ❤️ with state of the art filtration, an entire selection of great treats for our pups & the knowledge they share- you can’t go wrong! 2 years in & I couldn’t be happier with them.

I have a young Aussie mix who suffers from severe separation anxiety. Vet recommended I try a doggie day care to help with his energy and his socializing. After just two days I saw a huge improvement with his anxiety! He was calmer and more confident. The facility is super clean, staff is friendly and Laura has been a wealth of information and support with helping to navigate his anxiety. I would absolutely recommend Happy Hound to anyone who is looking for a doggie daycare. I now have a very Happy Hound! 🐾

My dog Bergy, is a 1 year old Rottweiler. She is so excited every morning to go to “Puppy Daycamp!” She gets plenty of playtime and exercise as she comes home and naps. The staff is extremely friendly and nice. It is comforting to know that Bergy is having such a fun time at daycare instead of leaving her home alone all day. The treat her like family. I highly recommend them.

We were overwhelmed with our super active, anxious and unruly 10 month old puppy. We signed up for puppy daycare at Happy Hound and he’s like a new dog. Laura is a great resource alone and her daycare has been wonderful for our Zeus. He comes home tired, exercised and ready to mingle like a well behaved pup should. I literally am so grateful for her services and the training tips she’s helped us with.

Happy Hound Daycare has been a godsend for our family. Before attending daycare, our 9 month old puppy had a lot of energy at night and often jumped and bit us to try and play. After sending her to daycare she comes home tired and happy. She even takes a nap before dinner time! Laura and her team really get to know each dog and often give an update on how they did and who they played with during the day. The cherry on top is that they post pictures of the dogs to their social media. We are so glad we found Happy Hound Daycare!

Our dog, Cal, loves going to Happy Hounds Daycare in Torrington. He starts dancing the minute he gets in the car to go!He comes home happy and tired! The building is clean and safe. The owner and staff are friendly and competent plus they post photos of the dogs playing and napping. Those photos give me peace of mind, knowing my sweet baby is having a good time with his friends. I highly recommend this daycare!

I brought my puppy to Happy Hound for obedience class. The facility is clean and well maintained. The class included 4 dogs that attend day care there. You could tell that Laura (the owner) knew those dogs well and cared about them. And all of the dogs loved her.

My girl Liza got rejected after five visits. I totally get it as 30 dogs in a room with no outside time is not a good fit for her. And she does have behavior issues that can't be managed in a large setting like that. She's so sweet out of that setting! I don't need the money but do find it distasteful that they threw my dog out and wouldn't refund the money I had put up front. Like "don't bring your dog back, but we're keeping you're money" I hope they pay it forward.

So I debated about writ ring this review but at this point I feel I should share my experience. About 3 ago we brought our 5yo male boxer to Happy Hounds. To begin I had a nice 35 min phone convo with Laura where she answered a lot of my questions and told me about her background. It was a pleasant conversation. We scheduled a meet and greet where Laura stressed to me to please be on time and to call if I was going to be late or not show up since she had to drive back to the daycare. My husband, I and our dog showed up 5 mins early. Laura didn’t show up for the first hr we waited. Staff tried several times before they were able to get ahold of her. We don’t really know what happened so my husband had to leave and go to work and we went back home while Laura made her way to meet me at the daycare. As annoyed as I was I didn’t say anything because I understand things happen.Meet and greet went great, we chatted, she met our dog , and told me about pricing and packages. We weren’t offered a free day for the inconvenience since we waited which I felt wasn’t really fair but we choose not to say anything. So moving forward we brought our dog a few times and it was fine, no issues at all. Then one morning my husband had to work early so he was at the facility at 6:15 for a 6:30 opening drop off. Laura didn’t open shop until almost 7am. This was a huge issue because my husband had to be at work at the airport at 8am. Again, no type of free day or even an apology but did ask if my husband wanted to prepay or not. Then a few weeks later after going to the daycare my dog developed a cough and was dragging. We thought he had kennel cough so we immediately brought him to the vet, put him on meds and contacted the daycare to let them know. I did mention that I thought he maybe caught something from there but wasn’t 100% sure because we elected not to pay for additional lab work to confirm. The staff was really nice and seemed concern about our dog and let me know we had to wait 2 weeks after his last cough to come back, which I feel is a responsible thing to do. Needless to say I was disappointed that Laura didn’t even reach out to check up on our dog or even to discuss what was going on. Luckily, it wasn’t kennel cough. When I reached out after waiting two weeks after his last cough and him finishing his meds I called the daycare. Laura answered the phone and seemed more focus on telling me that she didn’t think it was from her facility and what felt like educating me about her policy when I tried to tell her I was aware of it from the staff. I again didn’t say anything because I wanted to keep bringing my dog. Then after a few more times our dog developed a stomach bug after going. He had diarrhea and was eating grass and very lethargic. We contacted the vet and decided to try some home remedies suggested by his vet which took about 3 days but eventually cleared up. After that we brought him back and not even two days after his eyes are red, irritated with a slimy discharge. A vet appoitment is made for tomorrow to have him treated. I won’t say that I’m 100% sure any of his problems are a result of Laura’s facility but our dog has no contact with our other dog (who doesn’t go to daycare, dog parks or contact with other dogs or has displayed any similar issues ) We find it odd that things happen shortly after visiting the facility. Our dog is healthy, sees his vet regularly who knows him very well, we are responsible and responsive dog owners for both our animals and feel that moving forward this isn’t going to be the best match for us. Although I’m sure we probably won’t be invited back after the review; but as I said earlier, after all of these occurances, the lack of empathy and concern, and lack of effort to make previous experiences better we will be moving our pup to Roaring Brook in Canton we’re we have boarded and done daycare and have had no issues. I think Laura is extremely knowledgeable about animals ( I saw her with mine) but as far customer service … it could be a little more sincere and attentive.

I was reluctant at first to bring my 4 month old Morkie puppy Ollie there because he is such a small dog, I was worried the other dogs would “bully” him. Laura assured me that he would be fine and would fit right in . She was right! This place has been the BEST for Ollie . He is super active and hyper , he needs a lot of play and I feel guilty leaving him home during the day . Ollie gets so excited to go to daycare and comes home extra tired. Laura is helpful and accommodating to Ollie and myself. I truly feel like I made a great decision brining him here and feel safe leaving him at daycare which is most important ! The hours are great and the fact that they are open m-f is extremely helpful . I always look forward to seeing the pictures the daycare posts and the fun events they have for the dogs! (Ugly sweater day, Valentine’s Day gifts, Christmas, etc.) it truly is a great place for ALL dogs ! Thank you staff!
