Everytime we buy fruit you never know what you are going to get. I already told you about the watermelon being really bad...now we bought a cantaloupe that was black on the inside and the following week we bought a loaf of Natures Own No Sogar bread and it was moldy and it wasn't even expired until one week later. I also sent an email to the bread company stating it was moldy and had plenty of shelf life.

Shout out to Emily the cashier this afternoon. She was super kind and quick. Also gave me the kindest compliment after I have not felt like myself the past few months and really made my day! Thank you Emily! Big Y has always been my favorite place to shop for food.

UPDATE: I forgive Big Y for the situation I wrote about below. The cleanliness of Big Y is way more important than occasional overcharges. I tried Torringford Stop & Shop, but was disgusted by a slob employee handling vegetables, so I'm back to shopping at Big Y.ORIGINAL POST:Big Y is generally a good store, but watch out. This photo was taken Dec 28, 2023. The sign is posted directly below 115 oz jugs, but the savings are applicable only to the 92 oz jug.Hopefully this was an accident. Read signs closely and check your receipt.

Everytime we have purchased fruit its either too ripe, sour or just unedited. Don't know how Big Y can keep putting out such rotten produce. Not sure who is minding their store but they need a new manager...see rotten pineapple.

Very unfriendly unwelcoming staff. “Beside only John” but we love going to Big y and almost every other day will continue use self check out and mind our own business I guess. lol

I'm only saying two stars because of the sandwich making area which I come to on my lunch break everyday. This one lady said they don't do grilled chicken on a sub, I did have a little attitude only because I am a type one diabetic and can't wait forever for my food. and said that's been that way forever, but I've been coming here for months and never had an issue. So instead she "cooked" the chicken tenders, while a different employee was making the sandwich I realized that the chicken was raw. I'm very glad I noticed it or else I would have been very sick, or possibly die.Other than that everyone else is very friendly and the store is clean.But there should be accomodations and not a argument between a employee and a paying customer.

local super...wife does not like taking me along...she ends up spending too much...clean well stocked store...got it all.. reasonable prices.. they are all high...where ever you go..smart shoppers use circulars and do store brands...wife likes this one more so than the others in town..

Big Y here in Simsbury, CT is AWESOME!!! Everyone is pleasant and very helpful. I unfortunately had an experience when I passed out while at the cashier. Manager could not have been more kind and helpful. I go often and LOVE BIG Y💚

I never used to shop here but I recently started coming here more they have a huge variety of things that I like or that my family likes that I can't get anywhere else. And although I've live here most of my life and have been here numerous times before only about a month ago did I notice that they have a beautiful display of historical photos of Torrington at the entrance of the automatic doors which made me love it even more

Well-organized aisles with beautifully displayed products of every kind! There are well-known products, as well as newer, locally sourced items, and seasonal bargains. The location includes a florist, pharmacy, butchery, creamery, bakery and pizzeria. The pizzeria only sells pre-made slices, so one cannot order customized slices (maybe they have not yet figured out a way to charge for made-to-order pizza) but must choose only from slices displayed in a vitrine.

Every product known to man... and some unknown! There is a pharmacy, a florist, stationery, butchery, seafood, pizzeria, creamery, bakery and café. Friendly staff. Self check-out and automated coin-sorter. One gripe is that the pizzeria only sells pre-made slices, with the employee telling me that “they are not supposed to add toppings” which they had added when pre-making the displayed slices only minutes before.

Very Good & Positive Experience Today, everything is well organized & very clean all the areas. Prices are so good, Tyler one of the employees help us to find an item, he was very help you. Good place to shop but no enough cashiers for so many customers. The pizza is good sometimes and sometimes dried, I think it depends of the person who prepares them. The price is good, I guess you get what you pay for. It’s a grocery store … I can’t believe they don’t even have fresh garlic on their pizzas !

Purchased 2 side orders of fried clams and they were very well over cooked! Was definitely disappointed! We've had them before and they were delicious but it was a different person frying them this time. Won't chance that again.

My usual good too.friendly staff, good meat and seafood department. My only issue is lately the produce department. Father’s Day weekend the place was practically empty due to delivery issues. Go in today the Tuesday after Father’s Day and they have no bananas, cucumbers are frozen and look like they’re from a third world country so I’m not too sure what’s going on lately but it hasn’t been the same for a few weeks now.

Very clean, organized supermarket. Excellent bakery section and products. Very good sandwiches and pre-made meals. Very broad variety of products, a number of them local. Broader range of products than what you'd normally find in a grocery store. Somewhat on the high side with their prices, unless you find a sale.

Huge Clean very nice store. They have everything and then some. Super friendly and courteous staff. On the pricey side. Try the fresh made grinders. The meat and seafood departments are top notch. The bakery is amazing also. Just got a pizza from the hearth baked pizza shop. It is amazing!

If you're wondering why you might need phone service in a grocery, I'll explain.Waiting for an urgent phone call?Don't go to Big Y. You'll probably miss it.An item is out of stock, and you need a replacement?You'll have to walk into the parking lot to make the call/text.Already on a phone call?You'll have to wait in the parking lot while you finish it.As minor as that is, it ended up getting extremely annoying the more you go there.
