The shop is very dark, not sure who the attendant was, but he seemed very angry. I was just starting the hobby, so had a few questions, it was like pulling teeth for answers. I'd rather go to a local shop than a big box store. He motivated me to go to the big box store, they were so friendly and offered tons of info. Too bad, won't be back at fish bowl.

Tony and his shop are absolutely amazing! They have the best selection and such an amazing price. So many varieties of fresh and saltwater. He normally selects the best fish at auction so it’s a lot better than a chain store and at around the same price why wouldn’t you want to support a family business.Tony is knowledgeable and offers great advice while also respecting you and encouraging the fish keeping hobby. Definitely my new fish store I am excited to keep coming back!

Best local pet store in Stamford!Fish bowl has great options for pets specially fish salt and fresh water. Our Calico goldfish and cichlids are beautiful!

I had a turtle tank emergency, late at night the tank started leaking at the seams all over our hardwood floors! We got everything cleaned up around 1am with our turtle spending the night in the bathtub. I searched in Google places that cater to reptiles and aquariums, since I wanted a much larger (and safer) tank setup this time and found Tony's shop. I emailed him that night, and he got back to me at 7:30am! Inside the shop, he made sure that we had all that was needed, including the right tubing to continue using our current filter. All told, I spent around $700 for a 65 gallon tank with glass top, a gigantic turtle dock (my turtle is fat, so she needs it), base, gravel, and 10 ft tubing. Not a bad deal, and Tony made sure we were taken care of. Total visit time was 1 hour! When we got home, setup took around the same time that it would normally take me to simply clean my previous 30 gallon setup. My red eared slider turtle was very happy with the bigger tank, and she's been having so much fun moving around the gravel!

Came by to check it out, I'm from out of town... Depressing to see so many beautiful fish so poorly cared for. At least a dozen dead, criminally overstocked. The majestic purple tangs left gasping, among so many others. The humane thing to do would be to put them down, but also, stock less. These are animals that should be treated with dignity and not the commodities they're treated as. Normally I expect only Petco to have the kind of death like this. Also, no one even asked if I needed anything.

For all looking for an ethical fish store this is the one. They truly care about the animals and what homes they are going to. Under the new ownership you can even see pictures of the nitrogen cycle at the cash register for people who may not be informed of cycling the tank before getting fish. I have always gone to this location due to convenience, while before it wasn’t to much better than petco or petsmart to me, this new management truly cares about the animals and the customer and it shows. The fresh water plant selection is the best your gonna get, for in store pickup plants. The fish selection grows each week as the store expands! Not only that but they have put in a filtration system for the betta’s which is heart warming for a person who is a big believer in the 5 gal min, heater, and good filtration. They give honest advice that clearly comes from experience and don’t just try to just sell you fish. Their fish food is great quality as well. None of the items are overpriced and honestly the most affordable for miles! This is a must stop fish store coming from someone with 3 fresh and 1 salt tank!

This is a special place. Tony and his staff always take the time to educate and inspire his customers to take care of their pets. Always sells healthy fish. Advises against bad purchases and helps design home tanks. Always varied and interesting displays and live fish. Worth the trip from anywhere.

Overall, a great little local fish store. Owner was very nice and knowledgeable - my only criticism is that personally I believe betta fish should be kept in larger tanks and people should be encouraged to keep them in heated, filtered, and 5g+ homes!All that aside, I would definitely come back to continue spoiling my fish.

I have shopped at fish bowl since I was a child. I’m now 50 years old & I still buy all my ferrets from there. It is a privately owned business by a local Stamford CT business owner. He takes pride in his store & all the animals & products he sells. I have since moved to Shelton in Connecticut. But I still drive down to Stamford whenever I need to buy a new baby Ferrett because I know he will get me as close to what I want as possible. I recommend them to anyone looking for any small animals fish or any type of animal products you need he will do his best to accommodate you in any situation.

This is a great place for anyone who cares about their aquarium. Tony is very knowledgeable and will take the time to make sure you know what your doing. Prices are very competitive as well. It's the only place I buy my fish and supplies.

I called Fish Bowl Pets in a panic, I needed clear guidance to help resolve a fin rot/ lack of oxygen issue in my tank. I explained I lived some distance away and was not a customer but desperately needed guidance from a professional (not a hobbyist at a big box store). Tony, the fellow who answered the phone, took his time in understanding my exact situation, answered every question I had, and left me with a clear path to get my tank back in good shape. After following his exact instructions my tank was back to normal that same day and my swordtail with the fin rot is looking promising. I cannot thank him enough for his time and expertise. When I move up to my next tank I am absolutely making the trip down to Fish Bowl Pets for all my aquarium needs.

They had a good selection of saltwaterfish. They had yellow tangs in stock. I would like for them to carry corals in stock. They also carry snakes, rabbits, ferrets, and fresh water fish.

I’ve been coming to fish bowl pets for over 15 years now. It’s where my first fish came from, and now it’s where my daughters have gotten their pets. I just recently purchased a Russian tortoise from here, and the experience was great. They answered all my questions, and got me the things I needed to care for our new tortoise. You’ll have a much better experience here than in a petsmart or any of those other corporate pet stores.

Got my an acrylic low boy gently used for only $25, an absolute steal! No slate bottoms :( but I came in for different stuff and I left with different stuff so it all works out in the end.Bonus points for the adorable bunny's or as some of my circles call them. Bnuys

We recently purchased a leopard gecko for our son and the experience couldn’t have been better . Everyone was incredibly helpful and after we drove an hour to pick it up, only to find it wasn’t ready to come home with us yet, they called us as soon as it was ready and delivered him directly to us (with a week of food). They truly care for their pets and make you feel at ease with taking one home! I would highly recommend to anyone. Our son loves his gecko, thank you Fish Bowl Pets!

I Never post things but this Place HAS to be RECOGNIZED!!!Tony is the most genuine and honest business owner that I have experienced service with in a long time!He his extremely dedicated to his work and most importantly his customers.I came in with a water sample and the mindset of purchasing lots of fish. Tony was there to help, after testing the water he noticed a few problems that required attention. I immediately thought to myself " This is going to cost me $$$..... because of experience in the past with a curtain aquarium shop in Greenwich.Instead, Tony did not try to sell me anything! He sent me home with instructions..... after listening to his advice I seen a significant change in my tank. It is doing great, since then I have been coming to see Tony for his Unique and Quality fish! Now, I have a beautiful tank with live landscape and Showpiece Fish! We have shopped at many pet stores (small and large) since we bred and sold fancy guppies over 40 years ago. The Fish Bowl is simply one of the well maintained and stocked pet stores we have had the luck to deal with. The owners are knowledgeable, friendly and they work incredibly hard to keep their pets, including the fish, happy andin the best of health. Customer service is of paramount importance to both of them. After almost 15 years of coming to their shop we know each other well, share personal stories and our understanding of the tropical fish we fancy. You may get slightly lower prices at a big box pet store but if you want value you'll come to the Fish Bowl. We cannot recommend them more.

Loved all the wonderful selections of Healthy Fish, BEAUTIFUL SALTWATER SELECTIONS! I loved visiting a real Mom and Pop place where they truly take wonderful care of their animals! Knowledgeable and helpful, this is really where you need to come not a franchise. They know their animal care and husbandry. Loved the selection, loved that they have EVERYTHING! This place is a gem. I am so glad I am only 26 minutes away!

I don’t usually write reviews but after shopping here, I felt it was necessary. The staff are exceedingly friendly, especially given everything going on in the world today, the place is clean and all the animals, cages and tanks look healthy & most importantly, I brought home my pet rabbit last night and he is VERY outgoing and social which surprised me considering that most rabbits are usually pretty scared of everything. To me, this says that they take excellent care of their animals and I was overall very impressed. Will absolutely be coming back here again!

Have been coming to Fish Bowl for 30 years. Tony has always been helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and full of good advice. However, Tony even stepped it up a notch. A fish emergency arose and on very short notice Tony and the fish bowl were able and willing to help. I've purchased many fish tanks and equipment as well as numerous fish over the years. Always with a good selection and good prices.I want to thank Tony for not only his recent assistance but also for his years of friendship and support. He and his staff get to know their customers and they take excellent care of the fish and other various animals in their care. I highly recommend the fish bowl pets.

I brought my pet hamster who I would have had a year tomorrow so I took him to there pet hotel for almost a week and the price was reasonable and heard they had good reputation and been in business for a long time, and When I came back from my vacation , they told me he escaped from his habitat and that never happened in all the 38 years they been in business, I was so shock I couldn’t believe how-unreliable they were for there negligence and told me he escaped on Tuesday and I came back Thursday and they waited till I came back. I loved that hamster he was my family now I’m heartbroken he was perfectly healthy and now he can be dead, they gave me another hamster in place but he is not the one I had and loved, never again. Will I trust them again.

this is THE HIDDEN GEM of pet stores! The owners are such a delight, they have Incredible customer service that you cannot get at any chain pet store. The selection of fish in the area have been very limited until my boyfriend and I visited this store. The entire selection, every kind & type of fish was extremely lively and looked so healthy. Tony, one of the owners, offers great advice and help when it comes to everything fish related and has successfully helped set up our tank.

Recently put together a 55 Gallon Hexagon tank,While looking for fish found the fish bowl a well kept clean store had the healthiest looking fish. Also found most other fish stores had closed wanting to support local not chain stores. Was very pleased with the service and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend this place.

Tony was great! I needed a tank, filter and heat lamp for a pair of turtles and he was able to come up with several choices that worked best for me. He even pre assembled the filter for me. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Much better service than the chain stores
