I go to walk out the store RECEIPT in hand and halfway through the second door to exit the store I get stopped by PC employee who demanded I let go of the carriage and leave, I respond but I’ve paid for it and went to try to hand the gentleman my receipt which was still in my hand and he flat out told me I was lying and to leave the store. So I go to walk away and was going to return with with my lawyer present physically or at least on the phone and most likely an officer and as I’m about to turn around the corner the employee then loudly then says “well show me your receipt” and I continued walking and said “No I’ll be back” and he said loudly “yeah that’s what I thought”…let me remind you I had already attempted to show him my receipt and he refused but after I’m almost around the corner and for other customers to hear that’s when he tries to have me show him my receipt to make it look like I had tried to steal from the store and embarrassed me. That gentleman would lose his job and best believe I have contacted my lawyer. If I didn’t have my receipt in my hand and didn’t IMMEDIATELY after being stopped attempt to prove I paid for all items in my cart then I would totally understand being stopped and accused of theft but I didn’t steal a single item in my cart and was called a liar and wouldn’t allow me to show proof until AFTER I’ve walked a good distance from him and other customers were able to hear. I will never ever shop there again and I most definitely will be doing whatever legal action I’m able to do against this employee and hopefully the company trains their staff better to avoid this happening to another innocent individual in the future

I haven't lived in this area for long, but this Price Chopper is 100% the best grocery store in New England. The service here is amazing and the quality of the products I buy are great! Whenever I am in the produce department, there is always someone who comes up to me and asks if I am finding everything okay. The produce is always fresh and well maintained. I am always amazed at the selection of items throughout the store. I can't seem to find as much in other stores in the area.Words could never describe how helpful and kind the front end employees are. I'm not great at using the self-checkout because I find it a little complicated, but the people running self-checkout are always extremely friendly and help me through the process.There is one employee in particular that really WOWs me at the register. He has light red/blonde hair and is usually wearing a black shirt. I think his name begins with an "I" but I'm not sure. this employee always greets me and asks if I have found everything I was looking for. It means a lot when someone goes out of their way to help you in the best way possible and really put a smile on your face. I've also noticed how big of a help he is to other employees. He will stop whatever he's doing to help his coworkers and make sure their customers are happy and satisfied. I know that working in a grocery store can get stressful, but he always has a smile on his face. His positive and friendly character makes shopping here a genuinely great experience and I look forward to many more shopping trips to come.

Not once, but twice now we have brought home rotten/expired food.The first time I didn’t even think to check the expiration date, it was a block of cheese 2 months expired which I didn’t even realize until I opened it that night and saw that it was watery and smelled rotten. I get that stuff happens and we’re human but, 2 months expired?This most recent time we bought some shaved steak (expiration date was 02/19 so not expired) but once opening the package it was grey underneath and smelled extremely foul.On the way out we overheard two employees talk about how “the ground beef has been bad multiple times”.We attempted to call the general manager just to make sure he was aware of what was going on and he stated, “I’m not familiar with the front of the store” and wasn’t very concerned about doing anything about it.

Everything was pretty good quality wise. No complaints with the product, however some sketchy individuals cleaning the bathroom. I think he was a cleaner named Jon B maybe. Guy was trying to pull a George Michael on me at the urinal. No thanks

There is a rude redhead young man - he is just nasty for no reason. The manager then pretended no one worked there under that description when I called to complain- I went to the store after the phone call and he was in the same location as when I had left….. toxic masculinity. Also the self- checkout man won’t help you if your bills won’t be taken by the machine- he should cancel the order and take me on his register- especially if no one else is there customer-wise. He also smells really bad- he should be bathing because it is offensive and passive-aggressive to expose patrons to your bodily odor. Showers are a basic life thing. Now when I go here the angry redhead with thinning hair( not the young one) stares angrily and tries to walk into me- feels a bit like targeting. Also the seafood boy is really rude and mean- and neglectful- I must’ve waited 13 minutes and no one else was there before being acknowledged by him and then he was rude. And to clarify, what the redhead with thinning hair initially did was a.)come get in my personal space and touch/grab my phone without my consent b.) said something to the effect of “everyone else can figure this out why can’t you?” C.) when I joked that his criticism was really helpful he sarcastically and rudely said GOOD LUCK ……. This place is not managed well.

Big Y quality with the price of Shop Right, clean premises, friendly staff, huge selection and the do not "suffocate" you in the self check out isle. (For those of us who need space or have space awareness).

I have been going to these stores forever since they bought out the “Big D” I have to say I would give zero stars for this location if possible. The homeless,, drug addicted population hanging out out side at the entrance and at the food court is out of control. I had my daughter with me and we got yelled at and harassed when I wouldn’t give money or cigarettes. Needless to say I took my daughter and went elsewhere!

The staff is always friendly. Went at 130 to get a slice of pizza for work. It was soo dried out hardly any sauce. Disappointed. Tossed it into the grass for the birds

This grocery store is very clean and has a very large produce area. Also the butcher shop has great displays and the butchers are very knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend this store.

Always great deals of the week. Great produce. Fast & friendly customer service. Nice and clean sanitize between customers. Face mask required. Helpful staff never too busy where you can not get help. Easy and quick check out. Nice grocery store to shop at. Opens early stays open late. Very convenient.

Update (11-20-22): Pricing for the seafood department is still very difficult to find online. My wife was cussing out the website within minutes before I told her to just call and bother the employees (wasting everyone's time). Also when I picked up the seafood order, the dishes weren't packed in a paper bag like usual? Very odd, had to go get a cart. So in short, get your online pricing sh!t together cause we're tired of it.Update (4/27/22): Still your basic grocery. Picked up a fried fish meal here from the seafood dept. Tasted great! Only complaint is that the prices for their prepared foods are impossible to find online and you have to call and bother employees to find that info out.It's a typical grocery store. Nothing to write home about. Prices are better at the Wally world down the street, but that's to be expected. Parking is ample. Bottle return machines are infamously out of order. The guy servicing them is frequently seen cursing at them. Great if you don't want to drive further to a cheaper store.

I don't know why people are giving bad reviews to the seafood department because I was there this morning and the first thing I noticed was how clean and shiny the display cases are. The glass was spotless and the seafood was presented as if they were filming a commercial. The varieties and freshness were apparent, and there wasn't a hint of a fishy smell. Keep up the good work!

We enjoy all seafood and have bought our seafood at Price Chopper for years. Yesterday my wife purchased some "fresh" Thailand shrimp at the seafood counter in Putnam, CT. She cooked it tonight and we were shocked to discover that after cooking it smelled and tasted of ammonia! We had both eaten one piece before we realized the shrimp was bad. When fish or seafood smells or tastes of ammonia it means the fish has begun to decompose and should NOT be eaten. Hopefully neither of us gets sick from it. The rotten shrimp will be returned tomorrow!UPDATE: Several weeks AFTER the shrimp was returned, I got a call from the new store manager and she was very kind. She apologized for the problem and offered to "make it right" with a store credit. It was much appreciated. I used it to buy some more seafood and this time it was very good. Thank you.

Not the most friendliest service but friendly enough. The store always maintains a clean appearance and well organized shelves. The bakery has some good freshly baked breads and bakery items at discounted rates.Lots of parking spaces and great location.

This was my first time ever in a Price Chopper. The store was really nice and laid out similar to Big Y. One suggestion would be to clearly mark the gluten free section either by adding it to the aisle description hanging from the ceiling, or signage indicating GF so you can clearly see it. I walked around the store a few times before I actually found it. Another suggestion I would have is add the location of items to their app. It might make it easier to locate things quickly.

I usually feel overwhelmed with grocery stores but this one is easy enough to navigate and not too big. The produce is fresh and tasty and our meat's always tasted great as well. I go on weekends a lot and check-out lines are very long, which surprises me as Putnam is so small and there are plenty of other grocery stores around in the area. I wish there'd be one more cashier on duty on weekends-then it would be a 5-star store to me.

Pretty blah grocery store. Employees are not very helpful. The grab and go meals are absolutely DISGUSTING!!! There are NEVER enough registers open every time I've been there it's a joke! Only two stars because the produce is fairly fresh that's my only positive. I only shop here when it's my only option. I do not recommend.

Been shopping here since you opened. After the experience I had today with a kid working the deli I'll never shop here again.i went to complained to his deli manager & as we are speaking he starts yelling and swearing at me. U asked to speak with the store manager whom was apparently off today and I get a young lady named crystal who is the assistant manager who acted like this was ok. She was very unprofessional & had know customer service ethics what so ever. I did make a complaint with corporate giving them all the details and the time the incident happened to they can clearly see what took place in camera. Suppose to here back within 24hrs. If they are as bad as the assistant manager I won't hold my breath.

I ordered a small smash cake last minutes and worked with Jen in the bakery. She was VERY polite, friendly, and did an AMAZING job with the limited time i gave her.Went to Wrights Dairy farm and they couldn't even work with me simplifying this is just outstanding! & She is amazing, will be going for all Family parties! I love Price Chopper in Putnam.... Saturday... Last day of the flyer... Their staff may be down a bit... things like soup that was $1.00 a can... Shelves were empty in the afternoon when I was there... Maybe they were going to re-shelve soon... I'll go with that... Otherwise, I have no complaint!!!

Their Deli never seems to have someone that can take care of you right away. I have waited several times for someone to come from the office...waited 15 minutes once. Customers want to get in & get out without having to wait for help.

Price Chopper is an excellent place to pick up all your common grocery needs. The store is always clean and well kept. Thier bakery department always has a great selection of in house breads and the deli variety is nice as well. Only for a few specialty items have I had to order online or go to a more specialized store. A great cost effective frocery store with a quality store brand.
