This year I decided to build my Crested Gecko a bioactive terrarium, and I came across NEHERP and saw that they sold everything and anything you need to build one! From live plants to hardware/tools! I recently got an order from them and could not be happier! It inspired me to go above and beyond for my Crestie's tank, so I quickly put in a second order with more supplies! Their customer service is also amazing! They were quick to email me regarding a sold out item and gave me a few options to choose from. I will definitely use them for future builds again!

I built my first vivarium under the guidance of NEHERP. Their on-line instructional guides are awesome and help you do it right the first time. Their showroom is packed with examples of completed vivariums so you can see what you’ll end up with. Customer service is the best I’ve ever experienced, they really care and want you succeed. I’m now building my 6th vivarium. I need a bigger house.

Great in store service, great in store advice and an even better product selection. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. However they can improve on returning email and answering the phone. Their post sale service and customer support is nonexistent. They do post a lot of info online but if you have a very specific question you will have to find another source. Very very sad!!!

Best place I have been to for terrarium/feeder needs. Always friendly and nice, they answer all questions to the best of their knowledge. When I had covid, I ordered online and called when I arrived they brought it out to me with 🐸 stickers. I haven't gotten stickers when I am sick since I was a kid it was a nice gesture that made my day better.

Wow! I've been here three times since moving to the area in August: first to rebuild my houseplant collection, then to trouble-shoot my gecko's new habitat, and most recently ordering one of their vivarium kits online for in-store pickup. They've been friendly, knowledgable, and amazingly helpful every time, and the cleanliness and quality of the whole operation is a breath of fresh air compared to the chaos of other specialty shops I've been to over the years.

This place is awesome and I highly suggest! I've ordered fruit flies a few times from this company, and delivery was super fast! I had a few issues due to ups throwing the boxes around too much and neherp replaced it right away. The most recent time, they sent out a replacement the next day and threw in an extra culture for me! Thanks again, Mike, that was so thoughtful!!!

This is easily the best vendor for reptile related supplies and bioactive kits in the U.S. I have tried several different "kits" from all over and this company offers a quality far superior to any other. Not only do they provide an extensive selection of everything you need to create gorgeous bioactive setups, they also offer consultations to advise you on whatever project you are interested in regardless of whether or not you use their products. I can't recommend these guys enough - won't ever buy from another group as long as they are in business.

It’s great to have a specialty shop like this in CT. I’ve been to the shop twice and the staff is friendly and willing to chat and give advice. I would prefer to support a small local business than a chain pet store.

This place is the best.I’ve been keeping darts and plants for well over a decade and have always had positive experiences. The communication is great, the prices are what you would expect from even the larger box stores, and the shipping is fast.I once received a package of dead fruit fly cultures due to the delivery carrier placing the box upside down. The media clogged the vents in the cups and all of the flies and maggots died. I let them know, not expecting to be refunded because this was 100% the carrier’s fault.Even so, NEHerp had a replacement order in the mail the same day free of charge. I didn’t even have to pay for the shipping on the replacement. Can’t beat that.

UPDATES, see belowFirst review:Plants arrived in good condition and exactly as described. I bought an order of cork wood (the large pieces are huge in a good way!) and several plants ranging from ferns to bromeliads to various vining plants. All of the plants arrived healthy and have been transplanted and living successfully in my vivarium for several weeks now. Pictured with the review is the finished crested gecko tank immediately after planting. There was a delay in my shipment caused by missing plants, but it was handled and the missing plants were refunded.Update:I bought a second order and felt it appropriate to update my review. I should first say that my plants arrived healthy, my isopods living, and my ABG mix great. The products from this company are excellent. But this is the second time that I've ordered and had the order messed up. They were out of stock of two plants that I had paid for (one plant died off and another was listed as in-stock on the site) which led to a delay in the shipment and needing to get a refund for those items. After some communication I was told the order would ship that afternoon, but it was shipped the day after. To their credit, my shipping was updated for free to express to help make up for it being delayed. Once they arrive, the products have always been great, but given the hassle of both of my experiences, next time I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I emailed Mike out of the blue with some questions on my gecko with some eye trouble. Honestly, I expected the usual, “buy this, thanks!” attitude, but I got something very different.Mike was more than accommodating to my many, many questions and took the time to send me links to studies backing the science up and even put together a solid regimen for me to follow.I went ahead and made the purchases and couldn’t be happier. My geckos are more active, more attentive, brighter and bolder in color. The one with eye issues is doing worlds better with the diet being the only change.Mike never one word answered or pushed select products, just general suggestions. What an awesome experience and he has gained a customer for life.Don’t change your operation. This is the reason I shop small business when I can.Thanks so much for your time and effort.

Great experience. Ordered the custom background kit for my first dart frog vivarium build. The wood it came with was amazing and packaged great along with everything else.The turn around was awesome. I ordered on a Thursday morning, it was shipped on Thursday afternoon, and I received it on Saturday afternoon.Great customer service as well. I sent a email with some questions the Wednesday evening before I ordered and I had a very considerate email response that answered all my questions Thursday morning. I might add that this was even before I had ordered anything from the company and this was my first purchase ever.I will be buying everything for this build from NEHERP

I am new to the hobby and was so glad I went to their showroom several months ago. I had one on one service from the owners, Mike and Jess, who are both extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Always have great advice and service. The plants are amazing and have been thriving in my setups. I couldn’t be more grateful for these guys. Terrible customer service and awful product quality.None of their fresh fruit fly cultures, which I kept in proper conditions as per their guidelines, ever produced and the producing cultures bought hardly produced.Absolutely zero responsibility taken by the company.Even for the fresh cultures they tried to maintain their 48/hr DOA policy which wouldn’t apply here as a fresh culture takes weeks to begin producing.I gave them a second chance because of all the positive reviews but had zero positive experiences or any accountability.Bad cultures can happen to anyone, even the best companies, but take good companies take responsibility.Especially when provided with photo and video proof. Perhaps in-store is much different but my online experience was terrible.

I had some issues with how UPS handled my package. And I failed to understand the shipping policy regarding live arrival guarantee. As a result I did not opt for the expedited shipping and when my package arrived my Isopods and Springtails were all dead.HOWEVER this was not the fault of NEHERP as I should have opted for expedited shipping because of the temps right now in my area, and UPS apparently played soccer with my package ...IDK.Anyway, I sent an email with attached photos and received a response very quickly indicating that while the package did not qualify for live arrival guarantee they were willing to replace my Isopods and Springtails if I would pay for the expedited shipping. Something they did not have to do.My plants arrived in the same package and were perfect....looked like they were harvested the day before, not 4 days and shipped in 100F+ heat.I cannot say enough fantastic things about this company. Very happy and will absolutely be a return customer.

Went for the first time VERY nice gave in depth care for the frogs and species of day gecko. Even let us into the back room and brough out babie dart frogs and gecko eggs definitely buying and from this place! Really recommend if your in the area!

The best store I've ever been to for terrarium plants and supplies. They have some amazing products and extremely reasonable prices. Their hardscape materials especially (manzanita wood, spider wood, dragon stone, cork bark) are very cheap compared to other stores and online. Mike was working up front and was extremely friendly and helpful.
