I just want to say thank you to Dr. Gilmore. We brought our cat here for a second opinion after a not so friendly visit to another local vet. Dr Gilmore was very very thorough. She took the time to answer any and all of our questions and explained everything start to finish. The compassion she had for our cat was unmatched. Although the diagnosis was still hard , she made us feel much better about our decisions going forward. Since our initial visit we’ve come back for another check up with even more questions and to seek her professional opinion. She was extremely honest with us and upfront. As we near the end of life for our cat I am so grateful we have had the chance to have her care for our cat. We will be switching all of our pets to this vet & office. I can’t say enough good about Dr Gilmore and her team.

The people who work at VCA Plainfield Animal Hospital are really nice. I took my cat there for his check-up not too long ago, and he wasn't too happy about it, but I knew he was being taken care of really well. I think you should take your furry friends there for all their check-ups, too.

I haven't had a positive experience here ever. My wife's family has been going here since she was a little girl and we've been using them for the past 10ish years.Every check up for at least the past 5 years they have tried to upsell me on dental surgery for my very senior small dogs, both of which were put down there in the past year.We were pushed back over an hour past our scheduled time to put down our 14 y/o boy.We now only have 1 dog right now ( we will get a 2nd when ready) and live close by, but I'm sick of their money grubbing ways. However, I refuse to use them any longer. 288$ to make us wait an hour in a traumatic time, very terrible experience made worse by vca plainfield.

Really hate to leave a bad review, but after the past 2 months experience, I feel I need to. Adopted a 2 month old Puppy from All Paws on Deck and everything had been great aside from the puppy having tapeworms. Brought her to Plainfield VCA to get her vaccines and check ups. Paid for a tapeworm medication that was supposed to get rid of them. One week later, she still had worms in her poo. Brought in a fecal sample and was charged for another round of meds. One week later, still worms in her poop. Paid for a different med that was guaranteed to get rid of them. One week later, still more worms showing up. Was told to pay for a more expensive fecal sample to see what kind of tape worms it was. Before we could even do that, she got two shots: Rabies and the 3rd round of distemper. Less then 24 hours later, she was wining, being lethargic and drooling all over the place. We brought her right back and get charged another $248. We were told "she most have ate something, no way it's due to shots" My puppy is in eye sight 24/7. She did NOT swallow anything! I feel 100% confident it was a reaction to the shots, which is fine, but charge me to check her again less then 24 hours later? After YOU tell us if you notice anything in the next 24 hours to let them know???? Then they want to charge another $800 plus to do an xray and blood work?? Are you kidding me? They just want to keep charging. Seems they are more interested in money then actually helping the well being of your pet. After talking to a few other vets, we have been reassured it was a reaction to the distemper shot. Funny they couldn't just admit that. A simple dose of benadryl would have most likely solved the whole problem. If you just need routine visits, sure the staff is friendly and can get you in pretty quick. Just shy of $500 later for meds and test that did nothing, we will be taking her to a new vet. As a business owner myself, I understand you need to keep the lights on, but I also know sometimes you mess up and need to do what's right and take care of your customer.Edit: They have refunded some of the visit we shouldn't have been charged for and I really appreciated that. Will add one more star back

We took a litter of lab puppies for shots and a check up.They treated us with professionalism and caring.We will have the next year coming in very soon.Thanks again for great service and a caring practice.See you guys soon!

About a month ago , unfortunately one of my boys was attacked , and they saw our boy right away at 5pm on a Thursday without us ever being there before , so that we didn't have to drive an hour to the emergency vet in RI. They took great care of him and for an emergency visit and 2 follow up visits ( he had to get drains removed and checked for infections ) it still cost under 450 dollars. You can definitely tell they care all 3 times we went we were taken in right away with little waiting time , vet techs are all friendly and my boy loved them.

I am sincerely so impressed with the care my dog received here. Our last vet retired, and I was very nervous about going somewhere new. After our first appointment yesterday, I was so relieved and happy with our experience here. Everyone was so nice and helpful, and I really liked how the doctor took the time to explain everything to me. I feel very comfortable here as a result, and would definitely recommend.

They are amazing, Justice loves going to visit the girls. She gets so excited to see them they make her comfortable, as long as you don't bring up her ears. Lol

Horrible experience. Took my cat in for an eye exam as his eye wasn’t working properly. Without proper evaluation they diagnosed it as a mild infection. Gave us antibiotics and sent us home. A week later his eyes worse my wife brings him in and now they find hair lodged in his third eye. Remove the hair more antibiotics and send him home. Now I bring him back today because his eye is deteriorating and they say it’s beyond what they can handle. Only beyond what they can handle after rinsing me for over $600 and 2 weeks of time.

Even though I got the awful news that my dog would have to be put down, every employee that I came in contact with was very compassionate and sympathetic. I would recommend this vet for anyone with any circumstance. They were wonderful to me and my baby boy Kobe during our last moments together and I will always remember that.

My pug is like my 3rd child. They are very good with her and treat her like their own over there. Vets are usually expensive but I found them to be very fair with pricing. Less then last vet we had when we lived in RI. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a better in the area. Also have great hours so we are able to go after work during the week.

I have two furbabies. The first is a grumpy little old man (my cat) and the second a crazy little ball of 1 year old puppy energy. They've both been through a number of vets. The older guy has been to a veterinary clinic specializing in only cats, another clinic recommended in my area and, alongside the dog, another clinic about 30 minutes away from my house. Bringing them both to Dr. Picano (who is about an hour drive from me) changed our lives in such an amazing way. I'm so grateful for the time she takes to make sure she understands every nuance of history and the special attention she takes to get to know each of the babies themselves. Every pet is different. Every baby has their own personality. And with both of mine I've seen her patience, her kindness, and her genuine love for animals shine through. I've gone through a few rough spots with my kitty recently, as he's now about 16 years old and truly a little old man, and she's been patient with my 103904 questions and concerns on our different options, and what our best possible outcomes for him have been. ALL of my furbabies will be coming to her and her alone going forward.

All staff are very friendly, caring and compassionate. I’ve been going to them for 11 years with my fur baby. I recently had to put her to sleep and I couldn’t have asked for better or more caring support than I received from VCA. I recommend them hands down over anyone else!!

Staff seems to be passionate about the care of pets. Really friendly and informative staff as well! The only negative is that I wish they offered some sort of payment plan. Had a vet bill of over $800 which left us in a tight spot. Not entirely sure if they don't offer it, but it has never been offered to us. Other than that I highly recommend them! 😊

Boy has this place gone downhill. It used to be one of the best animal hospitals in Eastern CT. Seems like ever since Dr. Gluck left it has been in a steady spiral downward. If I had to use one word to describe them it would be incompetent. I will never, ever bring another one of our animals there again. What a shame.

The people at this facility had better bedside manors than anything I have encountered at regular hospitals or nursing facilities in our area. This an awesome place! Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable and honestly, they work their derrieres off. All the vets are great (although my pup is partial to Dr. Schmeid 💕).It is expensive but most are unfortunately and at least you walk out of there knowing your animal got great care. They do need to get VCA to fix that sidewalk though!

Warning do Not bring your beloved pet to Plainfield vet! They do not care about you or your family member. They only care about money.I brought my dog there after being hit by a truck I called ahead and they told me to bring her in right away. When I arrived they wanted me to apply for credit to pay before they would even give her basic treatment. Then told me they were closing and I'd have to bring her to a real hospital which they should have informed me before I wasted time bringing her there could have saved time. They wanted money but would not tell me how much. After telling them calmly that they had no compassion they actually called the police on me saying they were a room full of scared women!!! What? Why? Absolutely a horrible experience there ! Told me they were putting together a care package for me on how much to start treatment so I could get her to a real hospital only to learn the care package was $500 to euthanize her!!!! Unbelievable I wouldn't take a frog there!!Please share!!! Don't let this happen to anyone else!!

We needed to get a foster dog spayed. This is a significant surgery when they get older. Dr Schmeid did the surgery and she did an amazing job. The dogs recovery has been perfect in every way. Just have to keep her from rough housing with her pack.We have been going to Plainfield VCA for years now and I highly recommend them. All the doctors and the staff are wonderful.

Went to the vet because someone stepped on my puppies foot and she was helping for 2 minutes straight. So I got worried. Instead of ripping me off with tests they said she was probably just bruised because she'd be yelping still anxious not baring weight. Long story short the ppl there were helpful and polite and always good to my pets in the past.
