The deli is the most inefficient and rude customer service point in town...let alone in the store.Terrible customer service!!!If I could award negative stars I would.This is notmy summation based on 1 visit. I shop here every week, and have been longer than some of these kids have been alive.I expect bad service from the kids. This latest generation is the worst that i have seen. The real surprise is the older woman. She's as bad as the rest.Terrible experience and the only Big Y close to my house.Very disheartening after all the years I have shopped here.

Shop here for small things when I don't go to Costco to bulk up. Prices are fair and products are good. The sandwiches they make are actually really good too.

I've shopped here every Sunday for the past 6 months, and I buy the exact same things every week. This store is always out of everything. I need to make a second trip to a different store way too often because this one is out of what I needed. I've put up with it because it's the closest to my house, but now I must leave a negative review. The produce section is just embarrassing. I can never find a good green bell pepper. Locating an un-bruised apple takes a lot of patience. I'm very lucky if I get cilantro because it's empty more weeks than not. The bananas are green green, so I always have to buy them a week ahead of time. When there's a sale on Thomas bagels or any brand of seltzer, I can expect to take a second trip to Stop & Shop the following day because the shelves are empty.The Deli will sometimes have a line of about 10 people and nobody has pulled a number because it's not enforced. I learned that when I pulled number 89 and the counter said, "Currently Serving 70". I shopped around for about 15 minutes and came back. The counter still said number 70, and I had to wait in the crowd of people with no idea of where I was in the queue. When I was finally acknowledged, I said I was number 89. She said, "Oh okay, Thanks" and didn't fix the counter. It almost seemed sarcastic, but I'm not certain. There will sometimes be a long line at the deli and only one worker serving customers while three other works are organizing cheeses, wrapping meats, cleaning dishes etc. I think the customers in line should be the priority, because these lines are VERY slow. I've waited 20-30 minutes several times with just a few people ahead of me. And note: the ticket system was never used. I'm not even sure why they have it. Maybe they just don't use it on Sundays and I choose the worst time to shop.I will make an effort to shop at Stop & Shop from now on. Stop & Shop's deli kiosk system is really nice and it's worth the extra drive to not have my time wasted. I am leaving two stars only because this store seems cleaner than the Norwich Stop & Shop and doesn't have the rotten seafood smell. The Seafood rot smell at Stop & Shop is better than making multiple trips to the grocery store.Please see my attached pictures.

The deli has terrible service. The clerk didn't know what boiled ham was and had to come around the counter so I could point to what I wanted. The next time I asked for 1/4 pound and got almost 1/2lb without the clerk asking if it was ok. The clerk acted as if the customers are a nuisance to him. The next time the two clerks were on the customer side of the counter chatting with other employees while we waited for service.To top it off when you go to pay there is only one cashier open. I could go on but you get the idea. Good luck!

I give big y in Plainfield ct because of one of there employees named Jake every time I go in there he stinks like bo bad I really thinks someone that works in the public should not stink so I am giving one star in hope someone will do something about him I tried to tell a manager but the just brushed me off so now I hope someone will do something about it

Is Big Y pricing themselves out of favor?I like corn muffins but noticing the price has almost doubled and the muffins barely rise above the paper cup! Paczki raspberry filled donuts are $8 @ BigY, $4 @ Walmart.I realize prices have gone up with inflation but this is well beyond that throughout the store.

Just spent 28.00 for what was supposed to be a fresh salmon filet, I asked the women behind the fish counter for the largest filet. On the way home something doesn’t smell right my car smells like a dead fish I got home I threw it right in the oven cooked it the same way I’ve done for years and years for salmon fillets. It turned out like mush there’s no way it was fresh! What a disgrace to Serve this to my Family. In the trash is where it went.

Lots of choices. Store is always clean. Employees are always helpful.Today I was disappointed to see what I was buying had an expiration date of the next day. Carrot cake for example. All for same date. Sushi was the same.

Better quality of meat than any chain grocery store in the area. Sizable and varied beer selection, better than most liquor stores. Their in-store Sushi is surprisingly good. We spoke with the chef who prepared a custom order for us, she's really very nice and is an actual professionally trained Sushi Chef. This store's produce quality is high, but the prices are much too high. A good deal of the merchandise is priced too high.Tldr: Meat, Seafood, Sushi, beer selection- greatOther merchandise prices too high for weekly shopping.

I really like this grocery store, however; they're much more expensive than Walmart and Stop and Shop. Excellent selection of items though. They also make good pizza, grinders, chicken wings (I'm fond of the Honey Stung wings), and sushi, to name a few. They also have some really good sales so I try to plan my visits around those. If I plan my shopping properly and around the sales when they have them then I feel like I've done alright.

They have great food products, a quite a decent floral selection and seamed to be very well stock even through the carona virus. All carts are sanitized as you walk in which nice. They have parent parking for family's who have kids and handicap as well. Their prices can be a bit high but the quality is pretty decent. If your looking for a nice local place here is definitely the spot for you.

This store never disappoints, it reminds me of Publix in Florida. I find myself coming back for the amazing bakery items, the local pies and cakes are on point. Can't beat the subs either!

We are moving to Connecticut in a couple weeks so we decided to drive by our new home and get the lay of the land. We ate HUGE on coffee so we had to see what options there were besides Dunkin. All around impressed by this little gem! Excellent coffee with a wide range of flavors and the food was great too! This will be our go-to! :) The staff was patient and friendly as well which was a bonus.

This supermarket is overall a pleasurable experience to shop in. Your meat department manager is superb and his service is second to none that I have ever dealt with in my shopping experience. Your Deli department is friendly and very helpful. Checkout is a breeze and the staff helping to bag do a nice job as well.

This store is an excellent choice for groceries shopping, great staff that are friendly and helpful, and super clean. The prepared foods are very good, their fish and chips are the best I have had locally and in the top three of all time, spend a buck more and ask for the Haddock. Call ahead and they will have it ready when you get there.You can't beat the buy 1 get 2 free sales. Good choice for bakery and meat too.

My issue with this store is at times they will bring in higher quality items or harder to find items and then stop. Example:Dietz and Watson Turkey. They do not carry enough organic vegetables, how about Organic broccoli, Broccoli rabe, ? I have to drive to my coop 30 minutes away to complete my shopping.

Love the Big Y. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I shop the Plainfield, CT location. The floral department is also amazing. I recently held a private event and needed centerpieces for the tables. I met Ce-Ce and she help me to pick out my flowers for the centerpiece and even ordered the flowers that I wanted to make sure they would be in stock for the day of the event. She put together amazing centerpieces that were exactly what I was looking for. They were beautiful and I received many comments on them. Can't say enough about how great Ce-Ce was to work with. I highly recommend the Big Y in Plainfield and Ce-Ce in their floral department for all of your floral needs.
