Today was our first time here and it was an absolute pleasure. Margaret the store associate who helped us was absolutely wonderful. She was knowledgeable, curtious and incredibly helpful. We actually ended up purchasing a few additional items.because of her help. Thanks Margaret!

I hate to say this was my first time in West Marine! What a fantastic store!! They have everything you need for almost any outdoor activity. The people were nice and helpful, and the prices are pretty good. Tons of Yeti stuff!!

Pretty nice store with a full stock of boating and saltwater fishing supplies, unfortunately the prices were pretty absurd. I was in the shop for probably thirty five minutes, and not one employee acknowledged my presence, but were quick to say hello and how can I help you to older gentleman, assuming they'd be the one's spending money. T-shirts for $58.00 and up, basic materials. Even basic supplies were very pricey. I went in looking for a scrub brush for the deck of my boat, and even that was $40. I tell you, it must be nice to have the kind of money to shop there! Prices on fishing gear were somewhat comparable to competitors, besides bait. I also called before I went in, and Kyle answered, I asked if they carried Grundens ( a very popular brand of apparel in the fishing and boating community) and he questioned me on them, put me on hold, and told me they didn't carry them. Come to find out when I get there, they did have them, but in youth small and triple xl. Glad they do carry them but the staff definitely needs to be more informed on what they're carrying in the shop.

Great selection and assortment of products that they carry I do go there when I need something in a hurry.I do believe that they are overpriced and on most occasions understaffed the last time I was there I had to walk around the store to find someone to help me and there was usually a wait because they're helping somebody else.I will say that the associates that they do have are knowledgeable about their products.I do like the store. I do like the products but as I said I go there when I need something in a hurry.

Absolutely despise this place. Over priced, no inventory, no help finding over priced items. Only reason I go there is I'm forced to go. Amazon's prices are at least 50% less. A $40.00 zinc at WM is $12.00 on line. I can see they need to make a profit but enough is enough! There is some good things on the horizon. The place is ALWAYS empty, hoping it will be forced to close. Oh, one more thing, they have turned into an overpriced clothing store, that will hopefully close the coffin for them.

After calling the store and confirming with an employee that this location spools personal poles. I made the lapse of judgement in that I was actually going to get the help I needed. Confidently I walked into the store pole in hand only to encounter Rob at the fishing section. Rob proceeded to give me lesson on how you shouldn't expect people to do things for you free and how I should be buying something. Ironic because I called and asked exactly that and got confirmation.Do not recommend this store overpriced and many employees with little knowledge of the policies or products.

Checkout staff are super nice. Store is beautiful and parking is amazing but thats really where it stops. The prices are nosebleed and the site to store delivery leaves a lot to be desired. Product arrived damaged and manager didn't seem to care? (Maybe it's a post pandemic thing) . I'd shop here again because they have a high quality inventory, but will lower my expectations for the experience.

New to boating so I went in to talk to someone about fairing compound, which type to use, how to apply it, etc. I asked the gentleman at the front counter who was nice and seemed to want to help but couldn't leave his post so he called someone to help me out. After about 5 or so minutes I realized no one was coming to help me out so I went to the other counter by the fishing gear. The gentleman here just flat out ignored me. No customers, no phone calls, just a blank unwavering stare into his computer. I stood there about 2 minutes until he started playing music from the desktop. At this point I put down the hundred or so dollars worth of supplies I had already gathered and just left. I will not be returning to this store again. I can buy all this stuff online without any advice, I went to the store to talk to someone in person.

Now let’s be clear if you just wanna walk around the store and look at boating stuff every time you’ll enjoy yourself but if you need a specific part and you need it right away because you’re working on your boat the people that work there have no idea what you’re looking for or how to use any of the parts they sell for the most part they’re great at selling high-end electronics if you want that but there are far better stores that specifically address your needs one a little further away is called Defender great place great staff good prices and they know boats much better than west marine people do

They have just about everything you need for all kinds of boating. Their clothing and shoe departments are very well stocked with nice items. Employees are very friendly and helpful. The sales clerk who runs the navigation instruments department is extremely knowledgeable.

Called in to make sure they had a Garmin 106SV in stock. Girl that answered the phone let me know that they did indeed have one in stock. Drove FOUR hours to pick up the chart plotter only to get there and find out it is not in stock. Zero accountability. Never again 👎👎 thank you for wasting my time. Hire someone competent.

I'm general this is a very very nice store. Top quality products. Prices are fairly high. My main complaint is that they are often out of stock. Today they did not have large enough stainless screws, and they were out of stock on the boat ladder that was recommended.

Had what I went for. Check out was quick, friendly service. Inventory needs to be checked. My last 3 trips in 2 weeks resolved in not getting what I needed. Empty hooks and shelves. Only 10 people allowed in this good size store with 1 register that will slow things down

The store is one of their best. I am glad I stopped in today. If you are working on a boat and need something right away, they are likely to have it! We need more West Marine stores like this.

I've worked retail before, and never treated customers like the employees here do. Time and time again, every time I visit, they hound you and make it clear that they don't want to be there. I was there 20 minutes before closing to pick up exactly two items very quickly, and was reminded every other minute that they were closing soon. 15 minutes prior to closing, an employee singled me out and told me they were closing in 10 minutes. He stood there until I left the aisle to check out. West Marine is lucky that I needed a float switch and rocker switches immediately. All my business goes towards small businesses, or even Amazon unless it's time sensitive. Over priced, unenthusiastic, low energy. This will be my last stop at West Marine.

incredibly difficult to do business with over the phone and in even more so in person. If you have serious boating inquiries you are better off researching heavily on the internet or seeking out professionals . Don't waste a dime on anything they don't have in store. Terrible inventory management held our order for days and ultimately was the wrong part. We were granted a coupon for our complications which was taken from us at the register by one of the employees who claimed " there was nothing on the card." Besides that they price match at the register so have your phone handy. Don't weasel yourself into blowing money at this place. clean high-end store, horrific management.

Pretty good selection of in-stock inventory given that this is a "flagship" West Marine. Prices are a bit high but this is a given--do yourself a favor and research prices of what you're buying (they price match local stores including Defender). Weird checkout location now with the new arrangement.

I've been in here regarly for DIY supplies for my boat over the past few years. Each time I have had exceptional help, all of my shopping list needs met. Many of my boat project Goals exceeded by store help being very helpful. I've even been pleasantly surprised at the competitive pricing - certainly worth it when you get the kind of help these guys provide! Thank you West Marine in Old Saybrook!!

So, my husband and I went in this morning, Memorial Day, my husband was mask free, i had one, but due to claustrophobia and copd, I can only wear it a short time. I removed it while talking to an employee. she said if I didn't put it on I would have to leave the store, that I could wait outside while they assist my husband! Please note, as I mentioned, HE HAD NO MASK! She cared not to listen to me try to explain a medical condition, but more than happy to help my husband with no mask at all. WE LEFT, they won't see our boating money again.

I will say it is the first time I have gone there in 5 years. Looked around for someone to help for 10 minutes and nothing. All they seemed concerned about was closing at 7 when the online hours said 8 pm. And such an expensive place you would think you could find someone to answer questions. We spent over $500.00 dollars and would have spent more if someone could have given us some help.Chris

Was “helped” by Catharina who was less than friendly. Spent $450 and had some west marine dollars that she couldn’t get to work. She rudely asked “have you used these already? Bc I put them in right and they’re not working” which we replied “no we just got them 4 days ago” she then asked again “well are you sure?”She was less than pleasant in general and was pretty snotty and didn’t seem to want to help.

Not good. I went in to buy some bottom paint and to make it short the salesman kept trying to get me to buy a gallon of paint when I only needed a quart. He wouldn't shut up about it. So I didn't buy the paint or the fishing tackle I had picked out either. Just left irritated. I can day ever thing on line anyway.
