This is the best Big Y around the area in my opinion. Their selection is much larger compared to other stores. For example, the bakery at Old Saybrook has more offerings and lots of goods that you can get individually (slices of cake, single pastries) whereas other stores they don't really offer a variety of slices. There is also a sitting area if you want to eat your prepared foods there. Always well stocked and clean. Love this Big Y!

Why is big y so expensive? Went to store today and left for shop rite in clinton did a big shopping saved about 90.00 dollars compared to big y .

I love having Big Y nearby. Stromboli, pizza, and fish fries are wonderful quick meals when I'm in a hurry.

This store has gone downhill a lot in the last few years. Shelves are empty. Produce selection is terrible and quality is poor at best. Employees don’t really seem to care about the customers. A terrible shopping experience. Can’t wait for the new Whole Foods to open. This store charges outrageous prices for below average quality and a miserable shopping experience.

It's a large grocery store that has it all. Bright, clean, WCs available, well stocked with everything. Easy parking, lots of carts. You have to pay per bag, not a big deal but a pain. This particular store is right off the highway, good location. Also had lots of other stores and shops within a walk.As with all US grocers, the shesr variety is overwhelming; trying to compare prices when peppers are in three places, different labels, specials, organic, local, and then even two of red pepper. Nice. But bewildering.Whatever you do, please download and use the app before you check out. You will save at least 10%; 30% on salmon! Total waste if you don't.

Great staff and good selection. They always have good sales going on and offer additional coupons and offers through your Big Y account.I do wish they would offer a discount section for fruits, veggies and flowers that are getting to their expiration date or are damaged/not up to standards. Similar to how they do with day old bread. Stop and shop used to have one and it was a huge help with being able to afford fresh products without going over budget.

Big Y is a fantastic store fresh, clean and a inflation killer. I come from Deep river our store takes advantage because they are convenient and they have no competition. I just want to say thank you to the staff and the managers for have a magnificent store to shop at.

Our go to. It's smaller than the new one in Clinton, but I love this store. The staff is friendly, things are easy to find, they carry ALOT of non dairy items (which I need), and they carry items from local businesses like Pasta Vita and I believe Beach Donuts. I knocked off one star because the prices are always so much higher than the other grocery stores around.

The best Supermarket I've ever been to. So exceptionally clean. The workers are amazing. The Pharmacy is by far the best. Wonderful and so helpful Pharmacist's. They always have a, Smile on their faces. Bravo on top quality service!!In these times, we are still met with a Smile, from these wonderful hard working people. Joey at the meat counter is amazing.The only reason I do not shop at stop & shop is because of the way I am treated at that meat counter by this man he is amazing he's funny the kids love him.don't ever lose this guy

Wonderful, helpful, cheerful employees. I was in the area for a two day visit and purchased food and ice. The prepared food from the kitchen was superb. I purchased a "chichen parmisian" that was out of this world delicious, though the container was part metal and part plastic I can't imagine how one would reheat it. I just tossed it on the sand (93-95 degree heat) for 45 minutes and it was warm enough to eat and enjoy at the beach. Later I had to put the left overs on a plate to warm in the oven, but it was excellent. Big Y made my stay in the area all the better for it. Thank you!

I think this place is one of the best supermarkets I've ever been to. The customer service is on point, the baked goods are amazing and the butchers counter is both helpful and affordable. The real game changer to me is the self checkout app you can use on your phone. It allows you to scan items as you shop and then pay for them without standing in line. THIS IS THE GREATEST THING EVER. If you look over the other reviews it's mostly people complaining about masks and one dude who really has a grudge with the deli counter. So don't judge it by the couple of one star reviews. (But do yourself a favor and read the review about the deli, that guy really has it out for them and it made me chuckle)

Prices are posted incorrectly, they have poor stock choices and don’t have some basic things that can be found at other stores. Stop and stop has way better prices and has for the most part the items you are looking for. Plus the people at stop and shop are nicer! Big y is my last place I go to look for items.AND they wipe the cart after you get it. They should be sanitized prior to customers getting the cart or just don’t do it at all leaves a line to get into the place

Big Y had stepped up their game, and they provide a wide variety of modern food.Comparable to any Whole Foods in terms of "trendiness" and supporting healthy alternatives, without the stereotypical inflated price.

My favorite place to shop. The best market ever. I wish they would open one in NY. I don't mind driving up to Westbrook (100 miles) to do my marketing. It is clean, inside and outside, always organized with great and different choices and the Staff are amazing. Very professional, friendly and helpful. A pleasure to visit and shop.

Good service, good selection, multiple locations, better prices and stock than their usual S&S competitors. His time I was able to get in, buy a few items I needed and be on my way. The checkout lines were not a problem, but I don't agree with self checkout. These supermarkets bring in a lot of profit and they can afford to pay people for checking out.

This store is my fave. Love their sales, buy 1 get 2 free. Great bakery, and their made ahead meals are great. Husband likes the salmon with herbed butter and all you do is pop it in the oven for 20 min! Even their pizza to go is good.

One of the best stores I shop at on a regular basis. Jason in the dairy dept. is never too busy to help me find items and is always courteous to me. Zack in produce is a very helpful and courteous employee as well, he always offers his help if I can’t find something in produce. Great place to shop!

Love Big Y! The store is beautifully laid out, and the groceries are always fresh. I only gave it 4 stars due to the fact that the only downside is its a bit pricey compared to some of the other big chain stores nearby. Lastly the bakery is difficult to pass by without getting something!! Yum!!

Nice, clean store. Great pharmacy with a friendly, helpful staff. Good produce section, a bakery that you shouldn't even go near if you're hungry or an impulse buyer and terrific seafood, meat and deli departments.A little more expensive than the Shoprite down the road but worth it.

this is a very friendly environment with nice easy access lay out, helpful staff, and positive energy. though I did give it 3 stars due to the very short supply of cashiers and very busy clientele. there are a lot of check out lanes but only 4 would be open at a time with like 3 people in front of you. otherwise great store with always fresh products. This store also had a vast vegetarian and vegan selection.

Edit 9/24/21I'm still disappointed by their mask policy and enforcement during the height of the pandemic, but at least now they have a mobile app that makes shopping there much faster. No more dealing with checkout, even self checkout.*Their mask policy is a joke. Went in today and there were multiple people walking around with their masks down on their chin.Managers and employees were all over the store but no one said or did anything.I honestly don't feel safe shopping here anymore.
