The people over at Pet Shield have always been great for me. Super helpful, accessible, understanding, responsive, transparent. If I didn't live in town I would still bring my cat here.

I had a great experience with my two cats at Pet Shield and previously with my senior dog. The staff has been very helpful and they’re always so sweet. I would highly recommend.

Recently switched to Pet Shield to explore possible holistic methods & other opinions regarding my cat’s digestion/allergies. My cat’s sneezing which suddenly developed took top billing. From the inception of booking the apptmt & procuring information on costs/services/food brand availability, I was impressed. Drew was very patient, friendly & informative. The hospital is spacious & spotless & looks brand new. I was pleasantly surprised that cats have their own dedicated room! There’s the plug-ins with the pheromones to put kitties at ease & all posters & pamphlets targeted just towards felines. Alexis, the vet tech, is superb!! She was so thorough & explicit in obtaining & notating information, I thought to myself this rivals the intake I’ve had with my own MD apptmts! She was also wonderful in handling my cat & appears to be fearless (all the while naturally being conscientious to safety & not over-stressing my kitty). Dr. Turmenne is wonderful & very personable & was patient with all my questions. She laid a road map of what I need to focus on first in getting my cat back on track. I was given a sedative to use for my kitty for future visits, which was a first & I was happy for it. I wish I had received that with previous vet. I was happy to discover my cat’s special sensitivity food was in stock in both bag & canned versions. Checking out, Alexis automatically assisted me & my cat back to my car. The next day I received a call from Drew to check on my cat’s status. I inquired about a dental cleaning & the estimate was emailed to me & Alexis went through all details on the phone. Everything is done so seamlessly & with such a high level of attention to care. In my past experience, there were times I felt dogs may receive more focus but, Pet Shield makes me feel confident I made the right switch & they are actually cat-owners themselves & know how to handle them outside of their trade. And to report, my cat who vomits her food often despite the special diet, seems to be 95% better so far with the probiotic she received from Pet Shield. Very happy!

Great, knowledgeable, caring office. Dr. Egan & Amy were great with my sick dog. Explained everything and took a lot of time with my dog. Felt very confident with their care.

WOW...AMAZED!!! Brought my long hair kitty in for a shave on her back end (matted) which she DOES NOT LIKE having done. I purposely sat in the waiting room to avoid hearing her cry...heard the shaver but NOTHING from kitty??When they came out, I laughingly asked if they muzzled her. They said "nope, she was great". I went in and kitty was lying belly up and completely calm, while they showed me what came out of a simple cyst they found and expressed...I still can't believe how easy this visit was!THANK YOU Kaylee AND Alexis!!!!!!

It is impossible for me to speak too highly of the staff at Pet Shield Veterinary Hospital. We have been going there for years, both with Dr. Fischbach and with Dr. Shanley, and have never been treated with anything less than generous and attentive care. During our cat's last illness they were always there to provide updates, make suggestions, and help us make her as comfortable as possible. The passing of a pet is never easy, but without the compassionate staff at Pet Shield it would have been twice as hard. We have adopted two new cats from the shelter next door, and would trust no one else with their health. And if anyone from Pet Shield reads this: thank you for all you do!

My Bernese Mountian Dog is petrified of vets. I heard good things about Pet Shield so we gave it a try. Dr Reed and Amanda were kind, professional and absolutely patient beyond all expectation. They continually worked to treat my dog where she was comfortable and didn't give up until they had what they needed in a way that my dog was okay with. Wonderful experience and I am so glad we switched!

I have been to Pet Shield 3 time in 3 days with 3 different cats. I cant say enough about the staff. They are knowledgeable and very kind to my cats. I have seen both Dr Read and Dr Shanley. Not only are the both gentle and compassionate, but they we fantastic at getting to the base of each of my cats problems. Seems that bad things come in 3's so i am hoping I don't have to go back for a while. If I do have any more problems I will only seek Dr Read or Dr Shanleys advice.

I feel the need to preface this post by saying- I next to never write reviews- Like EVER!!! Further, I'd like to note- I am not paid to post! This said, after recently taking a look at some of the comments posted I felt compelled to share my personal experiences with this hospital. I have been taking my dogs to this practice for over 17 years. I have used other veterinarians before so this lens is not one narrowed by lack of exposure to other groups.Gordie was the first dog I took to Pet Shield. Actually, Nicole, who was fostering Gordie, was taking him there after his rescue from St. Croix. I just figured this was the first and only vet he has been to so let's just try this out. On the AM of Gordie's scheduled neuter he had his very 1st seizure. I had never experienced anything like that! This began our VERY long road filled not only with medical needs but, despite all odds, a very long LIFE!When I tell you this would not have been possible without ALL of the staff there I mean from the kindness, gentleness and understanding of the intake staff and techs all the way to the DVM's who made calls to Universities, Specialists and pharmacists. At one point in his care Gordie's body was shutting down with the Great Dane sized doses of Phenobarb he was on. That medicine alone was no longer working for him. After calls across the country to brainstorm what treatment options were available and how to get these meds as inexpensively as possible (like a $500/month med they found for $70 that could be made just for Gordie and mailed to us) we finally found the "cocktail" combination which maintained his levels so he could live a Wonderful life for 14 years. And- that was all the way to the VERY VERY end of his life with his most humane, gentle and love in his send off.The staff and vet are not at all money grubbing! They have comparable schedule of rates as what other veterinarians charge. What I have found is other vets I have gone to who appear they are less expensive yet, force needless (billed) follow-ups and (additional) tests which aren't necessary. The team at pet shield are honest. They dialog with you if you want to share what your animal's lifestyle is and then they match the care accordingly.I have always felt educated while going through some very tough decisions and I have never felt misled! We have never done tests needlessly- they have been options. The only "needless tests" we have endured are because there are some blood panels which when you do the whole panel it is LESS expensive then doing the one or two tests which we need- which on their own would be MORE expensive. In the end the net effect is we actually have more information and baselines which is more helpful in the long run. Sometimes they "Highly suggest" certain tests but, an owner is still never forced or guilted. Because the team is so highly communicative, and because they truly champion education of the pet owners, one is able to make a sound decision in what direction to go for their animal.Last, but certainly not least, we are all loved! The animals are TRULY and EMPHATICALLY Loved. Dr. Shanley and Amy and so many of the staff shed heartfelt tears at the end of Gordie's life. This dog was all our dog and this also goes for ANY animal who comes through their door. The owner, staff and all who have ties to this particular hospital work with passion for the animals.I sincerely trust them!

Took my VERY anxious/growling kitty there today who needed her irritated +++sacs expressed. The tech was super calm and conscientious in the way she handled (swaddled) her while the procedure was being done...thank you!!!Dr. Shanley was also very conscientious, thoughtful and thorough! This is the 2nd time in the last few months I've had to take her in for this, and the last visit was just as good. They definitely work as a team and it shows!

Where do I start! I LOVE this veterinary hospital. Over the course of 12 years, they have treated both my dogs with love and consideration and gave them the same treatment they'd do for their own dogs. They helped me through a torn ACL, severe athritis, multiple carpet eating experiences and countless other things and were ALWAYS available when I needed them. I can't express my gratitude enough! I made the hour and a half drive to see them repeatedly for this reason. I unfortunately had to start bringing my dogs elsewhere because I live so far away and they are getting old.. but bring your "kids" here, you won't regret it.

I have been going to Pet Shield for over 5 years. Dr. K Shanley is knowledgeable and compassionate. My boston passed away last summer, a very difficult time for our family and Dr. Shanley was with us every step of the way, taking phone calls and seeing us many times last minute. Highly recommend Dr. Shanley and the entire staff! Dawn M

Excellent vetrinarians. They are very nice and always find time to see your pet. They are very compassionate here. I switched to them after several very bad experiences with other local vets and animal hospitals and since then i have been here many times with my dogs and i have never been dissapointed in the service they provide. Prices are high at all vets but the prices here are on the lower side of them.

Compassionate and professional, complete pet Care center. Our puppy is the third pet that has had pro care through all stages of life. Our relationship with Pet Shield spans twenty five years at least.

Dr. Shanley is extremely unprofessional, and clearly cares makes more about making money than the welfare of animals. My parents take their pet to Dr. Shanley, and provide for their pet's every need, but are retired and can not afford services if they are not necessary. They volunteer at the local shelter on a weekly basis and are true animal lovers. When they went to foster a dog who was saved from Houston, and too nervous to stay at the shelter - the shelter call Dr. Shanley who called my parents "cheap". Luckily the shelter knew better, but shame on Dr. Shanley.

This is the best place I have ever taken my cats. They are a very caring veterinary hospital and have seen nothing but compassion from them despite one of my cats being very tough to manage at a vet. I drive 25 minutes to just go to them. I refuse to switch.

Awful place with vets that just want to make money even if it means keeping a dog sick. I speak from experience as a roommate of mine has dementia and doesn’t know that wheat will cause food allergies in pit bull breeds. The dog has been itching nonstop for over eight years but the vets won’t address the allergy so they can keep this guy coming in for more medication and shampoos. I have video evidence of this.

My dogs actually get excited to come here. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. They are very good at one on one time, I never feel rushed or like we're waiting in the room for a long time.
