Beautiful market with outstanding food. Thursday dinners are a great way to have a delicious elevated meal at home without cooking. I have not had any meal that wasn’t exceptional. Quite generous portions as well. Their premade meals, quiche and chicken pot pie are also absolutely fine dining quality. Highly recommend. .

This review is long overdue. Phinney’s is a blessing for Newtown. From their sandwiches (that are *ridiculously* delicious) to Thursday dinners, to their intentional selection of various goods/snacks/prepared foods served in their market… Phinney’s always hits the mark. You can tell right away that they have a high standard in everything they do. Not to mention it’s one of the only places to get some of the typically more challenging items to find such as imported, seed-oil free nut butters and jams, raw milk and actual fresh produce. And lastly, Steve and Gayle are some of the kindest people you will ever meet!

Gayle, Steve and the entire Phinney's team are rock stars. The kindest people, always smiling and the most important part of the review - their food is fantastic! Their Thursday night meals are always the star dinner of the week in my house. Their sandwiches, fresh produce are great for weekend trips to the park, a hike or just because! and their prepared foods are great to have on hand to elevate your home cooking. Phinney's has specialty al a carte or full menus for holidays and every single one has been a show stopper (shallot tart tatine and beef wellington, to name a few). I've recommended Phinney's for private catering and gotten rave reviews. Honestly my only feedback is to open another store closer to New Fairfield/Danbury - asap!

Happened upon this lovely little spot while in the area for a rugby match. The happily curated selection of snacks, jams, marinades, other intriguing provisions will make any home cook smile. I didn’t have a chance to try the prepared foods, but I’m willing to bet it’s just as wonderful. Friendly owners! Will be back!

I gave my Mom a Phinney's prepared meal as a Mother's Day gift. She had to pick it up herself, but she did not mind at all. She said everyone was friendly and helpful, and the process was easy. Better yet, she LOVED the meal and was very impressed with how well it was prepared. There was a shrimp entree, a salad, and an Eton mess for dessert; each part of the meal was yummy and special. Thank you, Stephen and Gayle!

There are some many great treats I could mention– the Bo Ssam, the gluten free Rice Pudding, the Weekend Sandwiches, or all their packaged goods. I love that they have something unique every Thursday for dinner.And their branding and illustrations are beautiful as well. Next time I go in, I need to ask who did the work.

The definition of what a grocery store should be! Phinney’s curates a selection of provisions like no other. Their local produce is always fresh and super high quality, and their dried & packaged goods have been blowing our minds good. It’s so nice to go into a shop where the purveyor is carefully selecting awesome products and there isn’t 1 million brands to choose from. Every single product I’ve purchased from Phinney’s has been “wow delicious” - from the farm fresh milk & eggs to their chocolate bars and teas. I went in this weekend to purchase everything needed to make homemade pasta. Recognizing I was clearly a newbie in this arena, Stephen guided me through the process and we had a great time chatting about ideas. He even offered to let me borrow his pasta cookbook! The passion and love the Phinney’s team puts into their work shines through in all that that they do. Can’t wait to go back!!

Great food and great service!I thought I knew good food and then I started buying both prepared food and packaged goods at Phinney's and I learned there's a higher level.They curate their packaged goods and sell only the best. The pasta tastes better. The vegetables - kept in a case to protect them - taste fresher and are always local and in-season. Even their strawberry preserves taste better than my normal Smucker's.And the prepared food is to die for! Sausage rolls! Sunday sandwiches! Steve the owner is a wonderful chef and everything he makes tastes wonderful.To top it off, you can learn so much about their food by asking questions. We recently tried a new vegetable from Phinney's - called Trevisano - that I had never tried before. We tried grilling it on our grill with some olive oil, salt and pepper and it was fantastic.I highly recommend Phinney's! It's well worth the stop and they share space with Butcher's Best, which offers great meats.

I've had some pretty amazing experiences at Phinney's.With regards to their produce, the carry some amazing products. To be clear, I am generally not a big fan of vegetables. I am a self-described carnivore. But the veggies at Phinney's are something special. They are locally sourced and Steve and Gayle behind the counter knows everything about about them. Got a bunch of mushrooms and some spinach from them and they tasted unbelievable with just some butter and a little salt. Superb.With regards to their shelf-stable products (grains, etc.), again, outstanding quality. They carry a bunch of brands that I had never heard of before but are just phenomenal. My top favorite are the truffle chips and their dried beans. I don't recall their brands, but I'm sure they will point you in the right direction.With regards to their prepared foods, they've got a great kitchen staff. I once took out a family sized pack of their sausage rolls in one sitting. Enough said.And last, with regards to their customer service, they go above and beyond there. As I said before, Gayle and Steve are as kind as they are knowledgable. Just talk to them for a few minutes. They both have a background in fine dining and farm to table. They have roots in the community. Will definitely return to Phinney's.

I was excited when Phinney's opened and have quickly become a fan of Thursday night take-out as well as their amazing produce and unique products! It's fun to drop in to see what's new, and check in with Gayle and Stephen for their ideas. Don't be fooled by the size of the store, they have packed a lot into the space and everything there will make your meals a bit tastier and more interesting. Highly Recommend.

A total local gem. While we don't make it up there as often as I'd like - every time we do it's magic. From locally sourced products to food you can't find anywhere else, this is one of my most favorite shops. The owners are amazing and so knowledgeable. Absolutely everything they sell has a story. You can't go wrong picking up some Rancho Gordo beans and local produce, or grabbing a jar of pistachio butter (worth every penny and a GREAT unique host gift). Phinneys is truly the perfect spot for any foodie.

It is always great to see Jordan's high-school friends succeed, especially in culinary. How much better it is when stores are small and personable, the vegetables are fresh and the food is from local vendors. Glad to see this addition to Steve's Meat Market. Jordan says he'll come and say hi whenever he travels back from his personal place in LA.
