One of the creamiest, yummiest icecreams I have had in US. I normally don’t rate 5 stars easily but this place definitely deserves for my love of icecreams and their quality. They make fresh icecream on their farm and they are open only certain months of the year, so if you are in the area when they are open, don’t miss this one.The place is beautiful in summer and you will love to sit on one of the benches and enjoy an icecream or two with your loved ones

As someone who loves and understands ice cream differences, I consider this a Top 3 ice cream place in CT. In the summer you're likely to have a hard time finding parking right away although they have staff that will direct traffic. There will also be a line, which moves pretty fast. Depending on day and time, be ready to wait 5-30 mins to get your ice cream but IT'S WORTH IT!

I love Ferris Acres! They serve some of the (possibly THE) best ice cream in Connecticut, and it is all homemade! The milk comes from cows you can pet across the street, and although I’ve never seen them, I trust them when they say they own the chickens who make the eggs. They have a variety of flavors, and you can make a milkshake out of any of them. They also have a long list of sundaes, and many different toppings. They also sell the ice cream in take-home quarts and pints, have special milkshakes and smoothies, and make custom cakes (the ice cream cake is amazing). If you live nearby and haven’t been here yet, you should definitely go.During the summer and spring, they get very busy and you cannot get into lot, and there are long lines, but it is honestly worth the wait. They also have good seating for families, couples, and small groups.

The best ice cream place ever! I don’t even like ice cream but I ended up going almost every other weekend with my husband in the afternoon. Love the vibe, the cows across the street. Definitely a must try!

You can't say enough about this magnificent creamery. They shut down for the season in October. But they opened up for special deliveries once in November and once in December. We loaded up. They were only serving pints and quarts. MJ Rel is my favorite flavor there.Expensive ice cream, but totally worth it

Always a nice place to visit! A summer must! The ice cream is delicious and their waffle cones are also so good! There’s usually a line on hit summer days but it moves pretty quickly!

The best ice cream joint in southern CT! Ferris acres is my families absolute favorite place to go when summer comes along! Their ice cream is made onsite and it is delicious. They have tons of flavors and concoctions, so many we haven’t tried them all. The staff is always young kids and well trained and efficient. Doesn’t take that long for how crowded it can get. Highly recommend this place.

My Favorite Ice Creams:-Black Raspberry-Campfire-Bada Bing-Cookie Jar-Mocha MayhemPro tip: if you are satisfied with just a pint or quart you can go through the express window and be out of there in less than 20 minutes.Words cannot describe the unbelievable tasty creamery ice cream! The first time I had it, it completely wrecked my GI, but that’s most likely because I hadn’t had real ice cream before. I mean, you can see the cows in the pasture! The line for the cones/sundaes can be a bit intimidating BUT ITS WORTH IT!!! I love this place. Thank you for making such wonderful ice cream.

Fresh made ice cream done on site. Lots of flavors and don't forget out the wet toppings. My favorites are blueberry cheesecake, salty cow, campfire, and brownie points. Get pints or quarts to go or call ahead of time for larger sizes. So many more flavors to try when we go back. They seller cooler bags if you forget a cooler during the hot summer months.

Came across Ferris Acres Creamery when driving in the area, and it was such a cozy, welcoming ice cream spot. They offer a new vegan flavor regularly. I had the vegan black raspberry, and it was delicious. There is plenty of open space to relax and enjoy your ice cream as well. Would definitely recommend! :-)

It's the best ice cream we've found so far in the area! I guess a lot of other people feel this way, because there is always a long line on the weekend. The wide variety of flavors are impressive and many are unique... I haven't had a scoop I didn't love.

What better way to celebrate a beautiful afternoon than with delicious, freshly made ice cream. The long wait was worth the generous two scoop small. All chocolate lovers will definitely have a difficult time deciding what flavor to order.

Asked for recommendations for ice cream from our hostess and she said we had to go to Ferris Acres. It was a cool 55 degree evening in May, but there was STILL a 15 minute wait for ice cream! It did throw me off a bit that they didn't offer samples (I didn't ask though, but it just seems faux pas to ask), but the ice cream was phenomenal. Their waffle cones were delicious and so crunchy, which is not what I usually get when ordering homemade waffle cones. They have SO many flavors, but every one is like a party in your mouth. A touch on the pricey side, but so worth it!

Amazing ice cream! We look forward to opening day every year and visit at least once a month during the summer. Fast service, although sometimes there is a line that wraps around the building during busy times. It is 10000% worth the wait if you love ice cream. We recommend cake batter, ali oop, cookie dough, bonfire, vanilla, sunset on the peach, and pbc2.Parking: During the summer, especially during the after dinner hours or on hot days, it can be a challenge to park. I have circled the lot for 30 mins waiting for someone to leave before. But if you plan your visit outside of these hours it is easy to get a parking spot. I find that occasional ice cream before dinner works out for us.

The best I've ever had. So many different flavors. Fresh milk and cream from the dairy cows. Located on a beautiful farm. Does get crowded, but understandably so. Decent prices. A must try for everyone. Even has dairy free options.

An absolute must try if you’re in the area! Beware there will probably be a line, but it moves fast. They offer a variety of flavors, so you can always come back and try something different. I’d recommend the Campfire, it was creamy and had bits of marshmallows within the scoop that caught me by surprise. If you’re a fan of dark chocolate try the Coconut Chocolate Chunk, the chocolate is very rich and intense and compliments the coconut very well.

We had never been to this ice cream spot so we made the hour drive excited to try the seasonal treat we saw advertised on their Facebook page. Unfortunately we went on a Friday night and the seasonal treat was not able to be made. Really not sure why the apple cider float couldn't be made with out the donut that was only available on Saturday and Sunday. But that is what we were told even though we didn't care about having the donut added to the outside top of the cup.Since we were there and couldn't get what we went there to have we decide to try the ice cream since it was our first time visiting this establishment. I ordered a small dish of coconut chocolate chunk and my husband ordered a medium dish of raspberry swirl chunk. The man took our orders we paid our $10.00 and waited at the next window. The coconut chocolate chunk came out and I had to ask where my husband's ice cream was. After being questioned about what was ordered I was told it was being scooped by someone else. A few minutes later his dish of ice cream was in hand. Surprisingly my small had more ice cream in the dish than his medium did. I took both dishes to the order window and pointed out that the coconut was ordered as a small and the raspberry as a medium and that the coconut was fuller than the raspberry. The gentleman that took our order looked at me and replied, " We do not do small, medium and large. We do 1, 2 or 3 scoops. I put both of yours in as 2 scoops." I find it frustrating that when we placed the order he didn't explain to us that they do not do small, medium and large that they do scoops and ask us which we wanted. I find it frustrating that he felt it was his choice how we spent our money ordering us both two scoops instead of explaining they do scoops. I also find it frustrating that it was not common sense that 1 scoop would be a small, 2 scoops would be a medium and 3 scoops would be a large. So our order should have been placed by him as 1 scoop coconut and 2 scoops raspberry since he took the responsibility of deciding we should both have 2 scoops. I understand that two different people scooped our ice cream so I won't even get into the obvious size difference between the two supposed two scoops each we were given. I pretty much order coconut ice cream any place we go that offers it. This was vanilla ice cream with shredded coconut and chunks of chocolate. There really was no taste of coconut and sadly the raspberry swirl that my husband ordered was lacking big with the raspberry. As I said this was our first visit and we found it very disappointing.

BEST ICE CREAM I HAVE EVER HAD. Chunk game is so strong and the texture is perfect. Great price ($3.95 /2 scoops) delicious flavors and great service. I got cookie jar- fudge swirls, chocolate chips, and yummy pieces of cookies!! If I lived even within an hour I'd be there every day for REAL

They have inventive flavors, but I'd say the ice cream was good, not great. Other good points: generous serving size and reasonable price. The line was insane (went around 5pm on a Sunday in the summer) - the longest I've ever seen for ice cream anywhere, so I honestly had high hopes. They got small part of my order wrong too (just the topping) unfortunately, but it was so chaotic I didn't bother complaining.

Specials accurate as of July 2022 & can confirm that the Berry Sundae was delicious! I took a pint of strawberry home with me and that was great too.

Ice cream in the great state of Connecticut, what can I say! A awesome array of different flavors made from farm fresh milk. I had the route 309 chocolate moo , which is basically vanilla chocolate chunk ice cream, which was simply outstanding. The only thing is be careful parking because many people run out through the parking lot to get on the long line to get ice cream. One big plus is that the place is dog friendly!!

The ice cream is the best although things have changed. I ordered a premium birthday cake to find out you can pick only one premium flavor and one vanilla or chocolate or 302 moo, only medium size. I also had the waffle cone with two scoops and noticed it was much smaller than usual. Otherwise great ice cream.

Not sure what to say other than this is the place to go if you want ice cream. It’s the best. Never had a flavor myself, my husband or our kids didn’t like. Expect a line, but don’t be discouraged when you see one, even if it’s really long. It goes fast and they call out your name with whatever you ordered quickly. Really cozy atmosphere with lots of tables and benches. We like to order then sit in the bed of the truck and watch the cows. The cows frequently can be seen in the pastures surrounding, so that’s always a plus to keep kids distracted while you wait.

It's really good but really expensive. Every time I come here, I end up wasting an arm and a leg. It's also always packed and the lines can be very long, especially during hot and sunny days. Overall they're a really nice spot and staple of Newtown! Love their cookie dough ice cream...

Best ice cream around. People come from everywhere to enjoy the farm style setting and ice cream. The cows can often be seen across the road grazing during the day. There are 15+ flavors to choose from, copious toppings, and other options like ice cream sandwiches.Dogs are welcome!! Be sure to get them a “pup cup” to enjoy.PBC2, toasted almond, mocha mayhem, and Elvis’s dream are easily the top 4 flavors!!Gets super busy at night and on the weekends. Parking can get hectic, but they do a great job of moving everyone through.
