Save yourself time and headache and get all of your prescriptions sent to wallgreens instead. It's super close by and I haven't had any problems with it since switching. CVS used to be great but they are so insanely understaffed I genuinely don't know how they are even in business still. I feel horrible for the few people still working there, desperately trying to keep a sinking ship afloat.

Great customer service. I dropped off 2 packages during the busy holiday rush. The staff was great, he stopped what he was doing to assist me and scan for the drop off. Packages were delivered about 3 days later! They are a UPS drop off location so very convenient.

Unfortunately, this CVS is so short-staffed now they cannot keep up with prescriptions. Lines are very long (I was in a line recently inside of 17 people), wait times are long (45 mins+), they don't answer the phone (ever), and refills - including "necessary medication" - are delayed by days. Don't use this pharmacy. They used to be the Best of the Best, but no more. And it isn't the staff's fault. They're trying.

I had moved to a town 20 minutes away but still picked up my medication from this store. So my prescription normally expected to pick up by the 27th of the month but was in a processing status for over a week. I try to call and get passed the automated phone service so i can ask the status of my medicine. Once I reach the pharmacy, they pick up and hang up immediately. Called a 2nd time, same exact thing happens. Called a third time, but connected with the store instead, explained what happened with my two previous calls before hand to the person that answered, they transfer me to the pharmacy, someone picks up and hangs up again. I contact the pharmacy nearby where i live and ask if i can transfer my medication there. They call me back stating they could not get through at all. So I drive there and walk in, ask for my medication, they prepare it for me in 25 minutes. When I return to get the medication, I request they transfer my medication to another pharmacy closer to where I moved recently due to the fact that the pharmacy had tried to reach them on my behalf and could not. I request they contact the pharmacy instead and transfer my prescriptions. The girl working there writes down the information and said they would give to the pharmacist. I call the pharmacy in my area, 2 weeks later, nothing sent from CVS. I try calling and try to reach a pharmacist. When selecting to speak with a pharmacist through the automated service, it doesn't even play the hold music, silence, then nothing, the call ends. So I drive there in person again. I show up a filling the entire aisle almost to the registers up front. I wait 30-40 minutes. When it's my turn I mention the other pharmacy where I live never received my prescriptions. The girl behind the counter says to call that pharmacy and I immediately say please don't tell me that, I've already tried having them call and no one is answering. She tells me to wait for the pharmacist. When the pharmacist speaks with me, I explain why I'm there and I need CVS to send my prescriptions to another pharmacy. The pharmacist completely refuses my request, stating they are under staffed, multiple people quit, another girl crying due to the staff shortages and to just handle through my doctors office. So after waiting 30-40 minutes for nothing, i left, frustrated and ultimately ended up contacting my doctors to do handle this situation.I want this story to be printed out there publicly to be known for all the bulls**t, time wasted, and terrible, careless customer service i experienced here. You are better off going to another pharmacy. It's unknown when, if ever, things will improve at this location. Happy to be done with this place.

Spent over an hour and 20 mins on hold to speak to a pharmacist before I eventually hung up and transferred my scripts elsewhere. Auto refill had kicked in on on Jan 2 (today is Jan 5), the CVS app and automated phone message still shows the status as “processing”. I found out last time they don’t actually fill the auto refill prescription until you (I would say call but) go in person wait for 30+ mins to tell them “yes, I do indeed need my prescription refilled” and then wait another 30+ mins for it to be filled. Sadly, this is not a one off, it’s been this way for months.

This has been my pharmacy for ten plus years.Their service has become awful. Understaffed, scripts filled late, not enough check out staff. Waited on a line in the store of 30 people to pick up the scripts. CVS is owned by Aetna and Caremark. So don’t blame it on staffing, they have the money. Time to replace the store manager, regional director and bring in real service professionals.

Do not use this pharmacy if you have any other option. ALWAYS a long wait no matter the time of day. They are understaffed and the staff they do have is a disaster. Multiple times have been told prescription ready then not. Come back in 30 minutes and still not ready. Etc.. CVS should be ashamed of themselves for letting this dumpster fire exist.

Being understaffed is no excuse to wait for days for antibiotics after dropping off prescription and told “not ready yet”….only to be told days later “we don’t have anything under that name.” Drive thru closed and no calls answered, line inside 30 people. Took the advice of my Dr and headed to Big Y Bethel Pharmacy. Received antibiotic in 15 mins after Dr called it in. CVS you can do better for your customers and your staff who are also frustrated.

You will see a lot of reviews here for poor wait times or other issues; those reviews are basically people not getting what they want when they want it. Please try to remeber the pharmacisits are human beings; and they are working as hard and as fast as they can also as fast as the computer systems will allow them. All of the staff i have worked with have been pleasent and willing to help until me situation is resolved ... but guess what ... you as the customer have to be pleasant and nice also. The staff do not make the schedule ... the staff do not decide how many people are working any given shift. The word is empathy.I have personbally watched pharmacist engaged with a customer that is relentless, rude, and take out their frustrations on the staff like its their fault the medication was entered wrong .. or the doctor didnt send the refill or the system has not updated in time; and those customers are the ones that tie up the pharmacists from helping other. Thereby causeing the long wait times that are being complained about.Anyone who has to deal with that all day long will get bitter by the end of the day. The pharmacy closes at 8pm ... so you should probably get there at 7:30 or earlier. Just because you are late getting there doesnt mean thier working shift should be extended.Try to be more human ... more understanding .. it will get you further in life.

The CVS pharmacy services are taking a nose-dive, the department is understaffed and underpaid so they cannot find good people to work there and it is becoming increasingly more difficult to get prescriptions filled. I hear that this is not just the Newtown location, I have family members and friends who go to other CVS locations and are having the same issues.CVS corporate needs to start paying these pharmacists more than what they can earn at McDonalds, they went to college and worked hard on their degrees, they cannot keep their pharmacies properly staffed with the benefits they are offering, it is really sad as CVS used to be great, but not anymore.I have been a customer for over 30 years, but am now considering moving my prescriptions to another pharmacy.

I went to Urgent Care at 5 and had a prescription sent to CVS in Newtown by 6pm. My husband went there to pick it up and was told it would be a 45 minute wait. He waited in the parking lot and went back in at 6:30 to get back in line. He was second in line behind a woman holding her very sick baby, at 8pm when they abrubptly closed the pharmacy. There was zero communication that this might happen or about other stores stay open later or are less busy. I work in a school and, as often happens, if one of my students is in crisis or misses the bus, I stay late. If for some reason I absolutely am unable to stay, I communicate with the family and ensure that the child is safe and cared for. I keep thinking about that poor woman with her sick baby- what if she needed medication for a nebulizer because he couldn't breathe? What if he had to be hospitalized because CVS employees didn't care. I am shocked that CVS can treat people's health with so little regard.

This CVS is a DUMPSTER FIRE!UTTERLY RIDICULOUS! I had to wait in line with 15 people ahead of me and NO drive up service. The claim is that there isn't enough staff. The answer is that there would be if they offered the proper financial incentive. CVS has ramped up services with vaccinations but not the staff to handle the added work. In the meantime, Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Home Goods all have plenty of people behind the registers to service a very big line of customers. CVS should be ashamed of the garbage service they offer. They are very obviously a PROFIT driven corporation with no care for their staff or the customer (yeah that's YOU). DISGUSTING!

We have used this CVS for twenty years. Service WAS always great. Now we feel like we are in a third world country. Pick up window is often closed. We have waited 45 minutes on that drive up line. ATTENTION CARALUCCI'S: time to open a new pharmacy. CVS is not doing the job! RS

There's one young male employee with shoulder length hair at this location that has been rude multiple times when I've come to this store. Today I was there with my kids and I stepped into the next isle for maybe 10 seconds, in which time my daughters must've quickly went around to see where I was. He scolded them and when I came back around, he said "ma'am, they're running through the isles and we can't have that," like he was watching us and waiting for something to complain about. They weren't running or misbehaving at all the entire time I was with them. They weren't going to any other isles. I literally hound them. We left right away and she cried on the drive home, saying "I wasn't really running, though." He obviously doesn't like kids, I've gotten this vibe every time I've gone and he's working. I'm not going to shop here anymore.

Probably the worst pharmacy on earth. They've always been terrible but somehow still manage to get even worse each year.As it stands now, when you receive the text from pharmacy to say your prescription is ready, it means nothing. You will stand in a 45min - 1 hour line, only to be told your prescription has not been filled (despite the text you received!) and that you now need to wait another 30-40 min until your name is called, if it's called at all. When they do announce your name on loudspeaker, you'll then need to awkwardly cut the other line, since there are not any pharmacy techs attending to the growing crowd of folks who's prescriptions are now ready.Apparently they are short staffed, yet seem to have a very full (but clearly disorganized) team every time I'm there. I imagine this isn't a very desirable work environment so it makes sense nobody wants to work there.

As a pharmacy, you really have just one job, pass out prescriptions. You’re doing a pretty poor job of it. The drive through is closed and the inside line is like 30 deep. I’m grateful I don’t have a life threatening need for my medicine.

The most inefficient pharmacy I’ve ever seen. Long lines and one register open. 45 minute wait at drive through. No apology for the wait or acknowledgement of wasting the customers time when they finally get to you. Short staffed or not, it’s no way to treat customers. I will not be going back.

I have never NOT had a problem with this pharmacy. Computer systems are completely down, understaffed, inordinate wait times to fill simple prescriptions, lack of communication about prescription issues, waiting on hold on the phone for 20+ minutes. Today I called to "expedite" a prescription that my son's doctor called in this morning after a surgery that they still hadn't filled in over 9 hours. They assured me it would be ready in minutes. When I arrived to pick up, the pharmacy had closed (3 hours early) because "they didn't send us a pharmacist". Now I'm on hold with the Southbury CVS (for over 25 minutes) desperately trying to get this medicine before THEY close because I have no other choice. Never had a single issue with Walgreens in Newtown before my insurance company pressured us to change to CVS.

Checked in at 11:30 today for a 11:45 vaccination appointment and didn’t get my vaccine until 1pm. They didn’t have enough staff to handle prescriptions and vaccinations. They also didn’t register my check-in correctly or at all… After seeing the 12pm appointment get called before me, I asked why this happened since I had the 11:45 slot and I had checked in before that person. I was told I had never checked in by the pharmacist. I then had to go back on the check-in line to speak to the same person I checked in with 40 minutes earlier. She told me how busy she was and was just helping out. I then was put at the end of the queue, even though I asked why I couldn’t go next since I did check-in at 11:30. I was told I had to wait or leave…. Approximately 8-10 people got their vaccines ahead of me with later appointments and check-ins. The pharmacist also told me she was very busy… but never heard, “sorry the check-in was done incorrectly and we can take you soon”. What terrible customer service…

This location is consistently understaffed. The wait time for a pickup on the last 2 visits has been 30 minutes plus. And forget about making a vaccine appointment at this location. They also do not answer their phone. Too bad, I’ve been using this location for years.

Don't bother. Long lines and long wait times on phone calls-they will probably never answer. If you have urgent RX (chronic meds)-I advise you check a week or two in advance to make sure your script gets filled by them. OR save yourself time and pick a different pharmacy. Pharmacist doesn't care nor does the store manager.

Waiting an hour and a half for a pickup.. watching elderly folks struggling to stand in crazy lines. closing the drive through so only option is to come into the store. No one answering the phone in the pharmacy. If they don’t address staffing at this location I would recommend choosing a different place to handle your pharmacy needs.

I’ve been back to the pharmacy multiple times and waited in line in excess of 15 minutes each time to pick up a prescription only to be told each time that they are either out of stock or they have to run it through insurance after receiving a notification that it’s ready for pick up. Even the staff hates working there as one purpose person vocalized for everyone to hear that she hates her job there. The young man who helped me, today was extremely nice and helpful but you can tell he was completely frazzled because of how disorganized this pharmacy department is. Get a new manager she clearly has no clue.

Obviously, CVS longer wants pharmacy business. The pharmacy line was out the door. At least 40 minutes to pick up a script. Moving everything to express scripts. Bye CVS.

Unfortunately I can't give 0 stars. The worst. 2 days after prescription ordered, I show up and 30 minutes to be told it's not been filled. Come back and another 40 minutes. Multiple people in line with same story. You've been warned: Do not use this pharmacy.

DO not transfer anything to this pharmacy. They will not answer their phones (I spent 25 minutes waiting for someone to pick up and no one did)... sorry folks my time is valuable too. Now I'm fighting with them over sending a pre-authorization to my doctor's off (who have NOT received it) and they just tell me it's the doctor's fault. I will be transferring to another pharmacy and most like NOT another CVS.

Way understaffed, routine prescriptions aren't filled on time and trying to call and have a prescription rushed is a waste of time, on hold for 20+ minutes with no answer. Unfortunately they seem to have a local monopoly so customer service just doesn't matter any more.

I’m not one to leave leave reviews on places but I have never received such great customer service ! I was assisted with a employee (can’t remember her name but I think it started with a v and was a cashier) and she was awesome. You could tell she was genuinely a great person who has such a contagious smile!

Get your scripts sent to Walgreens or another cvs location. Do not have scripts sent here. You will be waiting days for meds.

The staff are very rude and have no sense of responsibility towards their job and reflects rascism towards its customers. For 1 month now I am still without a critical medication that they misdelivered and would not do nothing about it. Dealing with corporate office now to get to the bottom of this.
