We were having a 70th birthday party and wanted to get catering from Caraluzzi’s. It’s clean and bright inside. Plenty of parking outside. Very friendly employees. There is a small section with seating where you can get a coffee and sit. Lots of Italian specialties including a cheese section.Our catering order was ready at the pickup time. We got a few different items that were delicious. I loved the wrapped mozzarella. It was a little pricier than expected but sometimes the quality is better if you pay a little more. Definitely quality fresh food.

Caraluzzi's is a really nice market. Very good quality meat, produce, seafood. Several steps up from ShopRite, but if you shop the sales, prices are in line with a regular supermarket.Family owned, i think. Nice and clean.

Good fresh produce at reasonable prices. The bakery and store made bread is also good. Other products tend to be a little pricier than other stores. Always good to shop here for weekly groceries.

I went to Caraluzzi's in Newtown on 8/26/2023 and as soon as I walked in the store, the most DISGUSTING smell immediately made me nauseous. That entire store absolutely REEKED of old seafood! The only department that wasn't as bad was the frozen foods section and yet, the smell was still there just not as strong as the rest of the store. I absolutely couldn't WAIT to get out of there! A total gross out.Never again will I go there.🤮🤮🤮

During covid, the market went out of its way to accommodate shoppers with pickup and delivery...it turned me into a loyal caraluzzis shopper. over the last several months the produce seemed to go bad waaay sooner than expected so my shopping went from a weeks' worth to only a couple of days' worth to avoid spoilage, a pain in the butt, but i continued my shopping as usual. this morning i opened a box of strawberries (4.99) I purchase yesterday morning and half were rotten...not the first time, there has been broccoli with mold, mushrooms that are complete mush and salad that belonged in the compost pile, in the meat and dairy there are lots of past date items used as fill on the shelves. The fish department, which was pristine when chris worked it, looks like a disaster that has already happened. maybe i'll shop the new store on mill plain, maybe Ill try labonnes or the big y...but i would and will stay away from the newtown location due to its rapid decent into a one star review

This establishment would get a higher rating if they properly trained and monitored their employees. Deli workers should not have to be reminded to wash their hands. Baggers should be tested for common sense - since when is it standard to put canned goods on top of tomatoes, soft fruit or bread/pastry? The customer should not have to repack bags after leaving the checkout stand.Update: In the time since the original review I have continued to shop here and have seen an improvement.

This is best store ever! We love the fresh produce, the prepared foods are great. They have a deli section with variety. The meats are great . We have had amazing meals thank to them. They have fresh baked goods. They have a wonderful fish station. This is my go to store for everything! The staff that waits on you a nice and courteous! The store is spotless and the carts are easy to maneuver. What more do you want in a store! As you can tell from my review I love this store!

Wow! Love their bakery section. Always fresh. The ready made food & hot section is good too. I like that if cooking not an option on a particular night, I can pick up a few items already packed. Large selection & tasty. Just heat at home. Makes life easy sometimes.

Exceptionally clean well organized and thought out high end market. Steaks are among the best I have ever had. The bakery is also very good and very well managed. All items are very freshI highly recommend Caraluzzi’s market!!

The only complaint, and a serious one, is that they frequently have food that is past its expiration date, or not marked at all with a sale date. Since we otherwise like the store, we are very careful to check everything. Just this week we noticed tuna spread 2 days past sale date, pre-packaged Boars Head ham with no sale/use by date, and chicken that was past its sell-by date. We have brought this to the attention of management and they don’t seem to care much. The problem has persisted for a long time. I don’t see it on other markets.

Love this store. Friendly staff. High quality selection of organic and regular produce. Excellent deli options and prepared foods. Quality meat and fish. Not to mention some great gourmet and specialty italian food products. Crowds are non-existent at the Newtown store. It's not always the cheapest grocery bill, but it's worth every penny.

Food quality and variety is great. Produce and fish are outstanding. Beef is high quality but occasionally disappoints. Pure poultry is excellent. Nice selection of D'Artagan products and they even have kibbe! Some baked goods, like cookies and bagels, will not disappoint.

I love Caraluzzis of Newtown. Store is always clean, well stocked. I love the prepared foods when I'm feeling lazy. The bakery is my weak spot, everything is incredible and some things already work of art so I run by that's not to purchase everything. Seafood, Butcher, produce all fantastic quality. The bright spot of this place are the employees, stores should take a lesson from this place they go out of their way to help, they make sure you are taken care of. I drive 25 minutes to come to this store and it is still worth it.

Other than the great selection of food and groceries, the attitude of all employees is unbelievably customer focused. Helpful and willing to answer your questions and find what you need. Always have the best quality produce, fish, meat and store made food offerings. .

For a premium super market their produce is sub par. Bugs in the onions and moldy peppers. Also could not find a single ripe avocado in the whole place

I get there when I can but I love there pre-made meals, great for a quick dinner or last minute. Fresh everything. Honestly everything is so fresh. Very clean store, no complaints. The staff has always been very nice and helpful. And they are one of the only grocery stores open til 10pm since things tilted a tinge towards norm. But whatta lifesaver at 9:25pm and I need a quick meal for 3 of us including 1 being my son ahhh we got home late and nothing to eat. So mom volunteered and everything was closed!! I pulled into carluzzis and saw that 10pm sign and it's like that moment in a movie when a person , place, or object starts glowing with that music of ahhhhhh you've found your answer its a miracle. Jumps out of car and runs in. So yeah great location right in center of newtown. The store itself is a great place. Definitely recommend if your in the area.

Picked up some chicken and potatoes at caraluzzis for my lunch and its amazing the flavor in the chicken fantastic potatoes cooked just right. I split it for to meals thats how much you get in the precooked meals. Always a good meal at caraluzzis yes and the grocery store is nice.

This is -- hands down -- the best supermarket anywhere in the area. I drive over here from Southbury to grocery shop because it's worth it.The Produce section is fantastic. When I go to the deli counter, I don't have to browbeat the employees to slice my cold cuts thin -- they get it. All the salads (potato, chicken, etc.) are outstanding. In fact, all the prepared foods -- from sushi to chicken to baked goods (red velvet chocolate chip muffins anyone?) -- are outstanding. When I go to the butcher and ask for steaks cut a certain way, it's "Yes, sir -- thank you, sir." instead of looking at me like I am interrupting them. They almost always have fresh, wild caught Gulf shrimp instead of the disgusting farm raised variety.And not once have I ever -- even for five seconds -- had to bag my own groceries. The service level throughout the store is just amazing. It may not be the cheapest supermarket around, but they make grocery shopping a true pleasure. The biggest danger here is that you will want to buy everything you see because it all looks so good!

Home cooked already prepared food also available. Bakery, florist, deli departments there too. Easier to shop in than the very large supermarkets.

I love this store. It is always well stocked. Food is delicious. But it is the staff that make the store. Kind, courteous, helpful, caring. They go above and beyond! The managers are awfully nice too!!!!

Up visiting my family on lake Zoar!Really awesome store! Staff super helpful and very nice. Food choices are beyond anything we have in eastern NC!Store is spotless! Called up and had lobsters steamed from lunch. Called up and had 8 live lobsters for pickup.Will be back at Christmas! Keep up great work!
