I can’t say enough about how great this staff is. They were incredibly compassionate to my two fur babies. My two newfoundlands were in desperate need of a shape up and they looked amazing and were well cared for throughout the whole process. Can’t recommend the owner and the entire staff enough. Thanks from Bruno and Denali 😊

Have been coming here for a year. I’ve tried a few places in New Haven, and Wash & Wag has been consistently the best. Always a good experience. Will care for nervous dogs as well. Price is the normal cost as I’ve paid in other places around Connecticut (fairly priced).Drop off 9 am, and then they’ll call you to pickup anywhere between 11:30-2 pm. They tend to book a few weeks out.

Well look at how perfect my baby looks! They treated my furry best friend with so much love and care. And it showed when I picked her up! She was so calm and happy! And my dog is a nerve wreck on a regular day 😂 so now this is my FAVORITE place to take my baby for everything! Staff is so sweet and they are very helpful too! Thank you so much! Best grooming place ever! P.s my puppy smells GREAT!! And it stays too

Pretty nice place, they do a good job, but Extremely hard to reach them at times. There's a voicemail, but they rarely return calls.

I am so disappointed and my poor dog, this is our second time there and both time ear infection. 😭😭. This time is worse, as you can see many cuts and ear hematoma . This all happened over the weekend so haven’t have a chance to call the shop yet . The people work there are super friendly and nice to pets, I don’t know what happen.

The two owners of Wags and Washes are the answer to what I had hoped to find as pet sitters for my two dogs. My dogs are happy, I'm happy, we had an overall great boarding experience. We will definitely board there again!

We had been to this establishment two times prior without any issues. After the third visit today, Sat 2/18, (and lack of courtesy from the owner and groomer), we will NEVER bring our dog back here again. Both the groomer and the owner were extremely rude when addressing why our dog was so late for pick up. We dropped our dog off at 9am. Our poor dog was in this facility for over 6 1/2 hrs!! He was still on the table when I arrived. He was obviously the last appointment of the day, even though he was #14 of 23. At 2:40pm, I received a call to pick him up at 3:15, which is late. I arrived at 3:10 and my dog was still being groomed. I paid for his grooming, then waited in the entry way. I was veryimpolitely asked to leave (never has this happened anywhere else) because the groomer said my dog saw me, then began pulling off the table and could get hurt. This was baffling since I was not in my dog’s view, nor was I talking. The only reason my dog heard me, was because the groomer kept talking to me. Also, it’s important to note that our dog is a 9 lb miniature schnauzer, and very tame and friendly. At this point, the groomer required the assistance of another groomer to finish grooming my small dog. Clearly, she was losing her patience at this point, and informed the owner that I decided to wait for my dog. Instead of politely addressing me for the delay, the owner informed her employee to bring my dog in the back room and finish the cut there- and then proceeded to slam the door behind her! It isn’t customary to take the dog into some back room to groom them. This was not only uncomfortable, but also unethical After 20 additional minutes, my dog was brought out. I addressed the groomer and the owner as to why it took so long for the grooming. To my surprise, the owner was just as indignant (if not more so) than the groomer in addressing the situation.I told both the owner and employee that I did not appreciate how I was being addressed as a paying customer, or the fact that my dog was taken in a back room. They both continued to talk over me, and never once cared to listen to what I had to say. I was appalled by the arrogance and sheer disrespect, specifically from the owner. As a family thatsupports and patronizes local businesses, I was genuinely astonished with the owner's behavior. I, emphatically informed her that we would never be back here again under any circumstances. The owner stated she didn’t care whatsoever, then slammed the door as I left with our dog. The lack of regard and outright disrespect displayed to a customer was quite despicable. CONSUMERS BEWARE! Having our pets groomed should be a calming experience. The pet owner and pet should be welcomed and treated cordially. Never give money to an establishment that violates trust and respect with you and your pet.

This was my first time taking my dog there and it was a great experience. They are all friendly and welcoming. I felt comfortable leaving her with them. When I picked her up she looked so cute they did a great cut. I would definitely recommend them to others.

Wash and Wag cut my Yorkie the best after trying so many groomers. I love how they have you drop the puppy off and then I can do my running around. Love this place.

They do an excellent job grooming our elderly blind shihtzu and our 3 legged scamp. They are patient and kind and both dogs enjoy their day at the spa!

My friend needed her dog's hair trimmed around the eyes. The staff there, as always, was helpful and friendly and efficient and took care of the problem. They also do a great job of grooming there. Highly recommended.

We brought our rescued 11 month old pit bull/boxer mix "Zio" to get his nails cut for the first time. Obviously, he was a bit nervous and a little jumpy, but, the staff was more than accommodating and super sweet! They treated him with respect and love, like he was one of their own dogs. You can tell the staff have a true love and empathy for animals. We will definitely be back again!

Came here because I received a gift certificate for Christmas. My mini goldendoodle was getting a bath, haircut, and teeth cleaning. Extremely friendly staff! Genuinely seemed to enjoy their jobs and the animals. My dog was done quicker than expected. At first glance, he looked great! However, once I got him home and looked closer, his haircut was choppy and uneven in some places. For example, one of his elbows was completely bare, while the other three were the same length. Parts of his underbelly were one length and others were longer.I really liked the place; I definitely feel more comfortable leaving my dog here than at PetCo. It's just hair and it will grow back, but I was not pleased when I saw that!

Wash and Wag reached out to me after a very hard weekend. Our Sophia went missing for 3 days during the worst weather in the season( not stop thunder storms). They offered to pamper her after her traumatic experience (at least it was for us)!! Sophia was also in need of grooming badly but with COVID could not get an appointment for her until the end of July! Wash and wag said we will make it work as they were also booked out for weeks! When I arrived the staff was super friendly and took Sophia right away. We felt super safe also with the procedures in place to prevent COVID from spreading!! Sophia came back looking like a brand new dog and happy as ever!! Although the owner and staff wanted to give back to the community and help Sophia out I attempted to give them a nice tip but they would not take it!! It speaks volumes when a business is willing to give back during these difficult times and help a family in need!! My over all experience was amazing and they did a GREAT JOB on Sophia’s cut (considering how matted and nasty she was).

Been using W&W for about two decades now. Always great, always do a great job, always kind and caring to our “fur-babies” :) wouldn’t use anyone else. But please don’t use them… we want them all to ourselves:) !

I explained to groomer that I did not like the service provided after my dog 1st visit , because they made my yorkie terrier look like a poodle. I decided to give them a second shot and the groomer did the exact same thing after I provide a photo of what I wanted my dog cut to look like. I explained before she was serviced the 2nd time that I did not like the cut she received the last time we was here & young lady stated she wrote it down on the card only to pick my precious yorkie up & it’s the complete same!! Not happy at all......

My dog is very problematic and not very comfortable with other dogs he is not familiar with. The girls here are great and handle him with no problem. He comes out looking amazing and so much happier. He smells great and gets excited when he has a little bandana.

This is my one and only place for my dog’s grooming!! The quality and service at this spot is better than any other I’ve used before. I don’t know how they manage to cut my energetic yorkie’s fur as beautifully as they do, but it’s always a remarkable cut! Highly recommend!

Great place. These girls are awesome. They really do a good job. I find the more specific you are the better. Otherwise they go by a standard grooming procedure hair cut. I highly recommend. Prices are very fair.

This place did a great job with my cat! Very nice staff and my cat wasn’t traumatized at the end like he has been at other places. He was happy and confident with his new look! Highly recommend!

I dropped off my 9-pound, timid, traumatized shelter dog for grooming. The staff was very warm and affectionate. My biggest worry was having my dog kept in the kennel with the other dogs barking during the day. She is frightened of most other dogs. I didn't mention this, though, because I wanted to allow the groomer to run her business in her own way. Well, when I picked up my girl, she was not in a crate. Instead, she was sitting at the feet of one of the groomers who was working on another dog. She was happy, clean, and groomed. I was impressed that the staff paid attention to my dog's needs and accommodated her without my prodding. I have already recommended Wash & Wag to several friends.

Wouldn't recommend for cats. My cat was always such a good boy in the car, never had any issues getting him into the carrier and the car. Always well-behaved, never nervous. After bringing him here, he started throwing up in the car and panting these excessive, anxious breaths where he would drool this thick and sticky drool. Between that and his nails being cut too short (he tried to jump onto his cat tree by clinging to the side and fell), I never went back. A year and a new groomer later, he's finally adjusted back to his normal self in the car. Phew. That being said, it does seem like a great place for dogs.

I have used Wash and Wag for many years and I’m always happy! Currently my dog is a short hair but nail trims are fast and inexpensive here and they’ve done a wonderful job when she needs bathing!!

I used to go here about 4 years ago and the service was great. The previous owner was REALLY nice and had a great price. So now having a new puppy I decided to return.WASH AND WAGS has improved as it is now like a boutique groomer. Not alot of flash, but just enough to make you feel your pup will be pampered. This was my 6yo daughter 1st experience taking her new mini schnauzer to the groomer, and she had a hard time leaving her there (crying and refused to leave any further than the steps outside). The ladies were awesome with bringing her to the back and educating her on the grooming process. Although my 6yo was still upset about having to leave her bestie, after 20 min I was at least able to get her in the car so that I could run errands thinking it would be 4 hrs til she was ready. But in consideration of my dau, the ladies hurriedly groomed Mizz Royal Jewelz to lessen the stress on my dau and 2 hrs later she had her pup again. Looking brand new and improved!!!I loved that she had a more dainty schnauzer look and not the hard old grandfather cut. No lines in her coat and perfectly blended which will help her skirt grow in as it should. Eyebrows were just enough and not too puffy or angled. Beard just enough and fit her size and face perfectly. Whoever cut her has a steady and even hand, paying attention to detail with neat results. We fell in love with Jewelz all over again. My 6yo LOVED the look and couldnt stop examining her now posh pup with excitement. There was a slight increase since before but surprisingly not much. And believe me, with such great service i left feeling like I got the deal of a lifetime. Pretty pup for a great price....I cant imagine going to another groomer. It fits my budget and gives great service in a boutique style salon. Thanks LADIES, YOU ROCK!08/12/17

This company is great. My cat had a grooming appointment and they did a wonderful job. Won't go anywhere else. I love the long hours, it's very helpful when scheduling pick ups after work.

We took our small dog to get groomed here and she walked away having barely been touched despite being there for five hours. I think they overbook to keep their prices low. Will not be returning.

I waited for an appointment forever and was placed on a "back up" list while I waited. Never received a courtesy reminder or anything. On the day of my appointment I called to confirm drop off time and there was no answer. I came around 10 30 and they told me that they had already cancelled me and given the appointment to someone on the "back-up list"...please learn how to use customer friendly things like: courtesy reminders, calls for cancellation, and/or simply answer the phone!!!!

I have been taking my Jack Russell Mix dog “Kujo” to Wash and Wag for about 8 years. This place is amazing and the staff is wonderful. This is the only grooming facility that I trust my dog Kujo with. Kujo absolutely does not like his paws touched when having his nails clipped. He tries extremely hard to get away. Kujo gives them a hard time and I appreciate Wash and Wag and the staff sooo much for taking their time and making sure Kujo is looking nicely groomed and smelling great. I will always come to this place and will continue to do so for as long as I have Kujo and any future pups that may come. Thank you Wash and Wag!!!

I've never written a yelp review let alone a bad review, but I am so unhappy with the service at Wash and Wag that it's warranted. A couple of weeks ago I called to make an appointment to get my Portuguese water dog groomed I asked for the price of service and was told it would be $45. I missed the first two appointments and when I made the third one I asked again how much the price of the service would be and was told it would be $45. So I dropped off my dog and when I was called to come pick him up I was told the service would be $55. that's not what I expected after being told twice that it was going to be $45 so I was already upset. The woman on the phone rudely told me that if I had a problem with that, "I can talk to the manager when I get to the shop." So I get to the shop to pick up my dog and she tells me that since I missed two appointments there's usually a five dollar cancellation fee for each missed appointment and that they're going to waive that five dollar cancellation fee and just charge me $55 and call it even. A logical person would think that after I made the last appointment they would've mentioned me at least one time after missing two appointments they would've told me that there was a five dollar cancellation fee. But no one said anything to me(it's says nothing about no show or cancelation fees on their website either). I was ready to drop it all the drama, but what messed it all up was that they didn't even cut my dogs hair properly!!!!!! When I dropped him off I said I wanted him all shaved, all shaved twice I said to the woman. When I got him back he had a poof of hair on his head and a poofy tail!!! I didn't ask for that! I said "all shaved" and then they gave me attitude when I told them I was unhappy!! They said that that wasn't normal business practices but, when I looked around the room and there were other fully shaved dogs there! They should have asked me what exactly I meant if they were unsure. If I wanted his head poofy I would've said give him a puppy cut. I know what my dogs hair is "traditionally" supposed to look like. I have a purebred Portuguese water dog I know I know what a lion cut is or a puppy cut and that is NOT what I asked for. I hope their $10 discrepancy was worth it.
