FUSE THEATRE OF CT
2021-05
This past weekend our crew of passionate theatre-makers spent a full day at lovely Falls Creek Farm in Moosup, filming on location for our pandemic-friendly filmed modern adaptation of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream-- The REwired Musical.' We could not have had a better experience, and Kristine and Paul showed us such kindness, generosity and genuine interest in what we are attempting to bring forth into the world with this new project and with our young non-profit theatre company. They allowed us full use of their beautiful spaces AND offered to feed our hungry teen cast and adult crew-- TWICE. The food was delicious, especially the apple pie a la mode (HELLO perfect crust!). They catered to special dietary preferences, food sensitivities and restrictions, and only asked for our thorough enjoyment of the culinary experience in return. This kind of rare open-hearted partnership and faith in the word of strangers in the midst of a hugely challenging time for fledgling businesses makes a world of difference and restores our hope for more abundant and promising times ahead. We are so grateful to the entire staff at Falls Creek Farm for opening their doors, hearts and kitchens to us, and we hope to continue to build on the positive foundation established this past weekend by perhaps offering entertainment there after things start to open up and live performance is deemed safe again. Do not hesitate to give this new facility a chance when looking at venues for your event. They will do everything they can to make sure you have what you need, because they honestly DO care that you are happy and come away loving and feeling at home at their wonderful farm as much as they clearly do. Finally, they have donkeys and miniature horses and a very friendly and funny German Shepard named 'Elsa' who just wants to play fetch with pinecones. So... you know what to do, animal lovers!

This farm has been one of my favorite farms since I moved to Connecticut 11 years ago. It is one of the most beautiful farms in eastern CT hands down in my opinion. And I go to a lot of farms! Parks, trails and bodies of water as well. This farm has an array of different views of beauty. It's worth coming to 100% There's beautiful cottages, ponds, gardens and horses all through out the farm. Horse competitions have started up again at the farm last weekend. You are welcome to camp on the property during events. You don't have to rent a cottage.

Excellent work on redoing the arena and concession stand! Grounds are beautiful and well kept. Only minor suggestions would be signage: order here; pick up here; ice cream;and the location of the restrooms. Lighting should be added to the area outside the arena so guests can make it to their vehicles safely. Should there be a medic or EMT on standby for weekend shows or is that the responsibility of the group renting the venue? Oh, and please add wi fi!

We were recently guests at Falls Creek Farm and could not have been more charmed. The grounds are beautiful, and the reception venue is pretty and could coordinate with any decor. We loved that there was a B&B onsite; it was clean and well decorated, very welcoming. The food was delicious—the only sauce I’ve had that’s better than theirs is my grandmother’s and the dessert was a decadent brownie with ice cream. The hosts were so generous and kind to our group and the service was outstanding. Highly recommend.

I attended an all-day event at Falls Creek Farm, getting to have two meals there and to see much of the property. I cannot decide what I liked the most. Everything was memorably fabulous. The rental house was appointed with fireplaces and a huge kitchen and lots of bedrooms with bathrooms (on bathroom has a stained glass wall!).The food alone would bring me back, except next time I think I will starve myself for a few days beforehand, so I have more room to eat every yummy bite, and I will definitely eat the dessert first as I was too full both at lunch and at dinner to finish my pie. Speaking of pie, as the table before me was being served, I noticed we were getting chocolate mousse/pudding. As I cannot eat chocolate, I asked my group who wanted mine. This was not an acceptable thing to the Chef, who quickly switched my chocolate dish for a slice of the best apple pie I have ever tasted. At dinner, he presented me with another slice of that pie, making my day complete. Another guest was a vegetarian, and the Chef prepared a spaghetti squash meal that had the rest of us wanting to become vegetarian for a day, even if that meant not having the delicious chicken we had been served. The owners were everpresent, and eager to make sure that every possible thing had been done to make the day the very best it could be. They are fun and delightful people, with many stories to share.I will absolutely be returning to the Farm, at the very net chance I get. I may even learn to ride, just to have an excuse to be where horses, of two sizes, live with donkeys and goats, and a few cows, surrounded by trees and a lake and beauty from here to the horizon.

My Fiancé and I went to Falls Creek Farm as to visit as a potential wedding venue. The chapel is nice and there are many wonderful views all over the farm. However, the single lane dirt wagon paths are concerning, as is the distance to the chapel from the rest of the farm. The property is not bad, but more incomplete than anything else. The reception area is nice and is a good blank slate for decoration. We also liked the 2 Air Bnbs on the property, although we did not go in them. After our visit, we both felt “off” and it’s hard to explain. The gentleman who showed us around was nice, but somewhat indifferent to our interests and was not active in “selling” us the venue. We also spoke to someone different prior to going, so our conversation was hard to continue between 2 people. All in all, it felt like a farm, not like a farm wedding venue. We looked at some of the other reviews and they seem reasonable given our experience.Just not for us.

We had very poor service. The bed and Breakfast was dirty when we got there. The church was suppose to be cleaned the morning of the wedding and the candles lite, our wedding party cleaned the church and lite the candles that we could reach by ourselves, The grass was over grown and grounds around the venue were poorly groomed. We were promised the wagon for out guest for the church and had to have our wedding guest, load into their cars and drive up to the church. We did not start the ceremony until 12:45 instead of 12:00 because all our guest was still at the parking lot waiting for the wagon that they were suppose to provide, that never didn't. Please do not be deceived the the video and pictures you see on the web site. The place is falling down, poorly maintained and the help was never around when they were needed.

My wife and I wanted to write reviews to share our experience with others that are looking at this venue. We are just being honest and hope that the owners take what we say and make changes because i don’t want what happened to us happen to anyone else!As soon as we saw the chapel we were sold on the place but it was honestly our worst decision when we decided to go with this venue! The owners made several promises that they failed to keep and truly made our wedding day seem like a disaster. It was like there were non stop issues throughout our wedding day that we were assured would be taken care of days in advance!Examples:When I arrived on the farm on our wedding day I found out the chapel was cold and that the fire place that is the only source of heat and that was supposed to be setup and lit days before the wedding was never done! I even reminded them to set the fire 3 days before the wedding so the chapel would be heated for our guests. I had to PERSONALLY set the fire place up and light it just to get some heat in there! It was freezing in the chapel during the ceremony! We felt so bad for our guests!!!It snowed a day or two before our wedding and they plowed but didn’t shovel the chapel out. My Bestman and I on the wedding day had to shovel all the snow at the chapel entrance just hours before the ceremony! They were supposed to have staff and signs on site to help direct guests to the parking area and to the chapel. We had guests getting lost on the farm grounds because they failed to have signs and staff as promised. The venue promised wagon rides to the chapel and back to the hall for all our guests but for some reason unknown to us they said there would be no wagon rides. Which was a great disappoint to us and our guests.I have shared many examples of what went wrong on our wedding day and believe me there were many more! But there were a few good things. The chapel! Honestly the only reason to pick this venue is the chapel and it looks amazing in candle light! The chef that the venue uses was amazing! He was kind and patient with us when ever we talked with him and discussed what we wanted to do. His food tasted great and the staff he had were wonderful as well! Sadly that’s all that was good. The owners of the venue are disorganized and unprofessional and it’s sad because it has the potential to be a great venue and create some amazing memories for future couples. We don’t want anyone to have the experience we had!

This is a warning to all potential brides out there. The stone chapel on this property was absolutely stunning! But Do not let it lure you in like it did me! The unprofessionalism was baffling. Planning a wedding is stressful enough without having to deal with the owner Kristene. She made us feel like our wedding was a burden on her when we were paying thousands of dollars for this over priced venue. She kept reminding us of her costs and her losing money and making us feel guilty. They are suppose to help ease some of the stress for the bride and groom but they just added to it immensely. Sadly, our wedding was an awful experience there. DO NOT BOOK THIS VENUE!When we came to see the venue they lost the key to let us in to see it. We had a very tight timeline for our wedding, they said they would get back in touch with us within the next couple days about our contract. Two weeks go by and we hear nothing. We were literally waiting on her response, before we could mail out our invitations. Multiple calls were made and ignored by the owner when trying to book the venue and sign the contract. This should have been my sign but again, the chapel sucked me in!As i was getting my hair done the morning of wedding her assistant informed me that the wagon rides we had promised our guests in the invitations, that would bring them to the ceremony, would not be happening. So my guests arrive for the time on the invitation to no wagon ride and no idea where to go as the chapel is far off from where everything else is. It was a mess. My guests were then sitting in the chapel where they did not have the heat on! It was literally 30 degrees in there. Someone actually checked it. They told us that it takes days to heat up the chapel and they will be on top of it so we will have a warm chapel for the ceremony. My fiancé had confirmed with them a couple days before the wedding that they had started the wood stove and they said yes. Nope! It was freezing! I also learned as I was getting ready for the wedding that my fiancé, groomsmen and some wedding guests were shoveling the snow and ice at the chapel for our guests. My fiancé had also brought in several of his own heaters to try and help get the chapel warm enough for our guests. There was no way of getting that chapel warm in such a short amount of time. As my fiancé was preparing the chapel for our wedding he was informed by the owner that if we were not out of the reception hall by 8:30pm we would be charged for every additional time after that. This was never told to us prior to that time. They will try to raise the prices every time you talk to them. We went and saw the venue a couple times before deciding on it and every time they raised the prices. They added $150 to the cost of the house a couple days before the wedding and also informed me a couple days before the wedding that they double booked the house for the morning of the wedding! When I told them how unacceptable that was she switched the other guest but had to let me know how much money she was losing for this. We ended up staying there still, and it is a beautiful house but we had a mouse in our bedroom our honeymoon night. During the reception, the owner and another guy with him stood at the door of our reception the whole time drinking beer and went through the buffet line and ate our food. We had sparklers set up for our exit and they were stolen while we were in the ceremony. The night before when we dropped off the drinks that were agreed upon they said no they wanted us to do a cash bar and tried to go back on what they said. I could go on and on explaining how bad our experience was....The one good experience was John the caterer. He was professional, a wonderful cook, very responsive and I would highly recommend him. It really is so unfortunate because they could really have a beautiful wedding venue for people but right now they are not ready and have no idea what they are doing in the wedding business. This place is every brides nightmare.

I am writing this to anyone who wants to avoid a terrible wedding day. I was a guest at my aunts wedding at Falls Creek Farm and was astonished by how unprofessional the owner, Kristene, was treating my aunt on her wedding day!! We had prior knowledge about how long it would take to warm up the chapel (3-4 days), and even though my uncle-to-be texted her to remind her to heat up the chapel, we were informed that the heat was not turned on until right before the rehearsal (the night before the wedding day). I had the privilege to get ready with the bride as one of her nieces. When she was getting her makeup done (this was about an hour before the wedding) she received a text from Kristene saying that the promised wagon ride will not “work” because they did not clear enough snow to turn it around. The bride and groom specifically asked for this, because the bride had her heart set on the guests arriving at the venue in a wagon. This made her very stressed out, because the wagon ride was promised to the guests and the guests had to arrive thirty minutes before the wedding. The guests did arrive thirty minutes beforehand but had to sit in the ice cold chapel and wait for the bride. When you arrived at the chapel, the front steps were not cleared from snow, so my uncle-to-be had to go early and shovel it for photos. We had to enter at the side which had slush and mud on the ground and water dropping from the gutter above because of the snow. As previously stated, I was a guest at the wedding so I had to experience the intense coldness of the chapel, while waiting for the bride. I took a Snapchat video of the chapel and Snapchat automatically calculated the temperature of where we were located and it said 33°F in the chapel!!!! I had opened toed shoes on and no sleeves, my dad had to give me his blazer as well as give my sister his jacket so we could stay as warm as we could while another guest offered my dad his jacket! I had to put gloves on my toes to stop them from hurting. Not joking, it also didn’t help. If the chapel was warm, it would’ve been the most beautiful thing to experience and I doubt you would be getting such a low review rating. At the reception hall, the owner and what appeared to be, another staff member, were standing and staring at us near the front door, dressed very unprofessionally for a wedding and taking some of the food. The sparklers that were in the reception hall in the beginning were “missing” prior to the bride and groom leaving for us to go outside and light the path to their car. We obviously, weren’t going to light them inside so there was no reason for them to take it. The bride requested that the lights be lowered for the dancing because the DJ had a light show planned however, when we turned the lights off, the owner immediately turned them back on. If you have made it this far, I applaud you. I have noticed that after one negative review there will be 3 positive reviews posted after it to bump up their rating. My uncle posted a negative review and the owner, the manager, and another person gave a five star review. It’s also strange that there’s never 2-4 star reviews. It’s either 5 or 1 even though this place deserves a 0, but sadly that isn’t an option. It would be a beautiful place to have a wedding if it was better managed.

If you are looking for a beautiful venue for your a wedding, family reunion, girls weekend or anything, this is the place to be. Can't get much better than this property and location in Sterling, CT. I want to publicly thank Kristene and the staff at Falls Creek Farm for hosting our cast and crew as we filmed FUSE Theatre of CT's upcoming production. We needed a space and they opened their doors to us and provided lunch and dinner. As spring arrives I hope that everyone who visits the farm enjoys its beautiful surroundings - for horse events, gatherings or get-aways!

The Farm is under new management. Kristene & Paul are very caring owners! Big plans for the farm are already happening. Farm stay and event venue for weddings and all types of celebrations including equine events. The farm is also home for horse rescues, which both, Kristene & Paul have huge hearts for these souls. Wish them all the best for 2020!

I had reached out to discuss options for a small wedding. The email address on their website apparently doesn’t work...I had to send 3 emails to 3 different addresses and finally got a response after calling and their voicemail lists an entirely different email address and phone number for weddings. The response I received was completely unprofessional. The owner barely answered my questions and when I wrote back asking for pricing and options for a smaller wedding I was just sent a pamphlet with a note saying we’ll have different pricing for smaller weddings soon. No follow up, no information on when that might be. These emails didn’t seem like they were written by an owner of a professional business, more like a teenager texting their friend. I see them posting on their Instagram and Facebook saying they have dates available, well of course you do considering when people reach out for information the response is rude and off putting. Weddings are stressful as is, I wasn’t interested in dealing with a venue who made me feel like they had no interest in my business. After reading these other reviews from people who did have their wedding here I am SO glad we decided to book a different venue. This place really needs to hire someone who has wedding experience or at least receive some training on how to write a professional email.

Website quote; "We care for our customer’s needs by providing and delivering professional, helpful service and assistance." This was the most unprofessional venue I have ever seen. Rude. Did not follow through on what was promised. And tried to up-charge the week before the event and even day of. Do not be fooled by the pretty pictures.

Managing staff is careless and inattentive to their duties, farm help is unfamiliar and easily exposed of leaving employees with minimal possibilities of progressing or advancing their skills and knowledge, lead trainer is unreliable and disregarding, unreliable payroll, management is very disconnected from staff and concerns, no vacation schedule or breaks... save the trouble and stress for a different farm for pleasure or work.
