I would like to publicly go ahead and thank this entire staff for everything you have done for me and my family. A little over a month ago this young lady was misdiagnosed with dermatitis of the foot. They gave her some cream and some steroids and sent her away. My wife took a job at l&m hospital. Montville was our vet the last time we were in town. We travel for work. I'm a firm believer in faith and things happen for a reason. We were unsure why we were brought back to Connecticut. To be honest, we hate living here. The state is trash and so are most of the people. They make solid pizza and then they have this veterinarian team. I've taken my dogs to different vets all over the country. If I hit the lottery I would literally buy out this veterinarian and have them move on to my complex. I would pay them millions of dollars to take care of my dog and still run their practice. The professionalism the courtesy everything about this stuff is spot on how it's supposed to be. I was greeted today by the anesthesiologist and I cried in her arms for 5 minutes. Tears of joy. She didn't let go of me. I was introduced to the surgeon who was able to get rid of the six letter word off of my dog. I sat there and held her and cried for almost 10 minutes. She didn't say a word. When it was done she said that's the best part of her job. There is no one I trust more with my animals than this place. That's the end of the discussion. I would travel from California all the way to Connecticut if I had to to make sure that this team took care of my dogs. From the bottom of mine and Sharon's heart. We love you. You are now family to us and you cannot Begin to understand how much we are forever in your debt for saving our child. Thank you so much!

I can’t say enough good things about this place. The staff is wonderful and they took care of our 3 kitties while we lived in CT. They are always super accommodating and do their best to fit you in for emergencies. They’ve also been so helpful even now that we’ve moved and haven’t established new care yet. Highly recommend!!

Everyone that works here has been wonderful. No shaming if you can’t afford a certain service. Great communication.Update: Things have changed recently. When they provide estimates, they are way off. I was given an estimate of around $350 for services to be rendered, went ahead and got the services done. Went to pay and it was almost $600. Luckily I had the money. That’s not always going to be true and probably isn’t true for all people.

Amazing staff. My dog is a handful, and they are always so professional and kind when taking care of him and dealing with me. Staff is very knowledgable, and incredibly nice. I could not recommend them more!

I have taken my pet mice here a few times and every time has been such a good experience! One of my mice, Bilbo, had frequent health issues and they always took good care of him; when his time came to be put down the doctor I spoke with and the vet tech were so kind and caring. It made saying goodbye a little easier. The vet tech even remembered Bilbo from his first visit! A few days later I received a sympathy card in the mail signed by the vet techs which again, made the goodbye a little easier. I appreciate the care and genuine excitement about my mice that was shown for every visit! The cost is reasonable and I definitely recommend them for pocket pets.

I really did not have a good experience here. I was happy they got my cat in and were able to help him, but I thought the office and exam room felt dirty. I saw two veterinarians, and one was okay to talk with, but she was very mundane and looked run down. The other veterinarian was condescending, argumentative, and rude. She told me that I had misunderstood things and that she said things to me that other staff witnessed, which actually NEVER happened. I felt like they were bleeding me for every penny. I made it very clear that I only had so much to work with, and then I couldn't do anything else for my cat. The staff up front and some of the medical assistants seemed like they had been talking about me. I walked in a few times, and they got very silent once I entered the building. Prices were only discussed with me once, and there was a range. The time the one veterinarian spoke with me, when she said I was aware of cost, was false. I tried to move on from that numerous times, and she wouldn't let it go. I was clearly mistaken in her mind. At the end, the woman ringing me out said, "how about we call it an even $3000" (I felt like she thought it was a game and the only thing that was important was them being paid). It did not feel like they generally cared about my cat, his issues, me as a customer, or my financial and regular concerns. I know they are a business, but can you at least pretend to be caring, compassionate, and not be so fake?! I would 1000/1000 NEVER RECOMMEND Montville Animal Hospital. If I could've given a zero for stars...I would have. I almost wish I would've gone to an emergency hospital instead. I spoke with a local rescue after the fact that said some of them have financial assistance or will work with you by placing you on a payment plan if you speak directly to the veterinarian about it. I had asked if people could call in and make donations for my cat and they said yes but then I was told my care credit had already been charged so no one ended up calling in to help me because they told me any donations at that point would be a credit on my account. I KNEW I WASN'T STAYING THERE FOR MY CATS CARE. I DID NOT WANT THE DONATIONS TO GO TO WASTE. When I got to the office the last time I went in, I ended up having to pay money and was upset because yes indeed I had more money to pay them...so people could've still helped me at that point to contribute to my cats care. These people were from local community groups. It was like the hospital purposely did that, and every follow-up, yes, follow-up exam was an additional cost. My cat had been seen 2-3 days prior. X-rays and other miscellaneous things I can understand but not being charged another exam fee. This has never happened to me at any other animal hospital. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GO ELSEWHERE IF YOU CAN.

I have been bringing my kitties to Dr. Jo & her team for about 18 years, and they are great in all aspects of veterinary care. They are professional, but also very friendly and caring. They give great, detailed explanations of whatever test or procedure your pet is having. My Siamese kitty went all mountain lion towards the end of her first session there, but somehow they managed to get her into the carrier (which she is kind of too fat for!) without losing their cool. Great people, every one of them! I highly recommend!!See below: before and after pics of my Siamese Mountain Lion :)

We brought our elderly dog Max who passed away and Montville Animal Hospital professionally took care of everything. They were very kind and compassionate during our difficult time. The sympathy card brought me to tears because it seemed like everyone signed it. When I came back to get his remains after cremation, they were once again professional and compassionate. Thank you so much for making this extremely difficult process just a little bit easier.

I bring my cat here to get her claws trimmed. To say she is a handful is an understatement. The staff are still able to work with her in a friendly and professional manner. They always do a great job. You can tell they care about animals. 10/10 would recommend.

So recently my husband was driving into Norwich an saw a small dog on the side of the road hardly walking. He went to a gas station an got it soft food but the dog wouldn't or couldn't eat, I told my husband to bring him home.Once I saw the dog I could tell he had been out there a while, he wouldn't even stand. FB groups were telling me that if he's too sick, too old or cost too much that the humane society would just put him down. I wanted him to have a chance so I called around an found this animal hospital, they told me at first that they don't give medical care to strays and that if I wanted to bring him in I would have to assume all responsibility and pay for the medical care, we are not exactly in the position to afford vet bills and I don't even like pets to be honest but I again couldn't just let him die so I put towels an blankets in a small box that my neighbor gave me and wrapped him up to bring him in, gave all my info and signed taken responsibility and agreeing to pay for the visit. A female vet came in and looked over him real fast, felt his chest an told me the dog was a boy, that he was hardly breathing and was basically suffering, I started to cry a little. She told me he was probably dumped somewhere and surprised me when she said that it's not uncommon for people to do with older dogs or pets they no longer want. I informed them that on the way I had seen another dog (larger) dead on the exit ramp close to where my husband found this smaller dog.The vet informed me that they could do a bunch of test but would come to the same conclusion, that the poor little guy would have to be put down to relieve his suffering. I asked what would happen to him, she explained the process and informed me that he would later be cremated and that his ashes would be brought to a pet cemetery in Massachusetts, I don't know if that's true or if she was trying to make me feel better but it sounded nice. She after told me that they would assume all cost and responsibility which really shocked me!!! I had already signed an agreed to so they could've absolutely taken advantage of me, they could've claimed the need to do testing or medical treatments or forced me to pay for putting him down which again wasn't something we could afford, I thanked her. She thanked me for caring enough to bring him in. I'm so thankful that this place didn't take advantage of me in that moment and that they helped this little dog. I appreciate their compassion for both me and the dog. Its odd but I still think about him, I wish I knew where he was so that someone could visit. I'm not sure of the life he lived but at least in his last moments he was shown love. Thank you

Had to get my puppy seen ASAP. My last vet didn't see anyone after 3pm, so I called around and eventually came to Montville Animal Hospital. They had an opening that day and I was very thankful.

I added a review last month as a new client but was requested to leave another review after both of my kitties were there yesterday to be spayed/neutered. I can't say enough good things about Montville Animal Hospital. Dr. Jo and her staff are the best. I think I've talked to Melissa and Sara the most and they are truly the best. We've been in for three appointments since July 1st and everything always goes so smoothly. They explain everything perfectly and always take the time to answer my questions. They squeezed one of my cats in when she wasnt feeling well, and their prices are so favorable compared to quotes I got prior to coming. We will be life long clients for sure! Thank you for all you ladies do!!

I brought my dog in for skin issues and the staff was so kind. They were quick and took less than 30 min. They gave it to me straight and talked to me about options for my pup. Dr. DeAngelo was amazing and I'll be taking my pup here again!

its was ok the staff were nice but, i came with my bearded dragon and he was sick so i wanted to see if he can get diagnosed. so i payed 75$ for a exam, they said every was ok but they can feel eggs or something in his stomach. so the first problem is that how can he have he is male for sure and then the next problem is that we only have 1 bearded dragon. i also got an x ray and he got weak and died it was not their fault. it was 230$ in total and i regret to take him there.
