For context, I've used Vetco on multiple occasions because of the affordability for the same exact vaccinations given at expensive veterinary establishments, and it certainly beats paying an office fee for just stepping foot inside for a visit. Vetco has always been 5 stars.Today I took my well-behaved, people-loving, extremely happy, Standard Poodle in for her 3-year rabies. They added on the 5-in-1 DA2PP (Distemper), as well as a Leptospirosis. She is fully vaccinated and has had these all exactly when due, per the puppy vaccination schedule. They said she was due, so okay, no problem.Because of fairly recent major surgeries I have had, I cannot have a 50 pound dog pulling when walking, not even a little, so my dog is properly fitted and trained to a Herm Sprenger prong collar. It is not a torture device for those that judge this tool without understanding how it actually works, it does no damage whatsoever - but what will do damage is when this particular tool is used incorrectly, not sized properly, left on when not in use, and when it isn't sitting properly on the dog's neck. So - here's where the problem came in: the woman assistant, "Archie", knelt down and quickly put my dog in a bear hug with her giant man arms, presumably to hold her in place. My dog was confused and terrified and naturally began to wiggle a bit against this as it was sudden and clearly uncomfortable. There was no warning, it was done very quickly. My dog came from a breeder that does ENS, and she is groomed regularly, so she has ZERO ISSUES with being handled. She's in a typical Poodle clip with a shaved face and feet, so it's pretty obvious she's able to be handled. I wasn't asked how she did with handling, or with vaccinations. Though she is 50 pounds, she is petite. Anyways, this assistant's giant arms wrapped around my girl's neck, squeezing the prong collar against her neck, hurting her as I heard her whimper. I told the woman to let go of her neck because she had a prong collar on, so she moved her arm, but she still held on tightly against the prong collar, only having moving her arm ever so slightly. I repeated myself and told her "SHE IS WEARING A PRONG COLLAR, YOU ARE PRESSING IT INTO HER NECK, LET GO OF HER NECK". I finally had to reach down and grab the collar in an effort to pull it away from her skin telling,her to let go of her because the assistant wasn't understanding the words coming out of my mouth, nor noticing how uncomfortable my dog was with the way she was handling her.In all of the times I have utilized Vetco for their services I have never dealt with such deafening incompetence. I am thoroughly disappointments with this morning's visit. My dog hasn't left my side since we got home. This visit clearly affected her in a negative manner. My dog at no time gave any indication that she was, or was going to be, difficult to handle. She walked in wiggly and happy to greet everyone, which isn't just typical of my dog, but it's pretty typical of the breed itself, and next thing you know she's being squeezed so tightly she didn't know what to do, and it wasn't a positive experience for her. This is not how she has been handled EVER. This is not how I expect my non-aggressive, calm, happy dog to be handled. She handled her so tightly around her neck that when I got home I combed around her neck to check her thoroughly to ensure she didn't have any puncture marks from the collar.Aside of that, upon review of her paperwork for "Wellness Exam", next to "Temperature", it states "Unable to Obtain". At no time was a rectal thermometer brought out, so a temperature wasn't something that they tried to obtain. Next to Pulse it states "100", but at no time were any vitals taken. For everything else listed it states "Normal", only NOTHING was looked at. Not her skin, not her eyes, not her nails, not her ears - nothing. Next to Mouth/Dental it says "Normal" as well. At no time did anyone lift her lips, look at her gums, look at her tongue, or check her teeth or her bite. I won't be taking my dog to Vetco again.

I bring my French Bulldog puppy (5 month old) every couple of weeks for Grooming. And Bailee and the young man (I can’t remember his name, sorry) are so nice and professional. My puppy is very wiggly and she has zero anxiety around them. I love how smooth her fur is and how nice she smells after her grooming.The customer service in the store is also great. They helped me find many items I needed for my new fur baby.

Had the product we were looking for even though it wasn’t on sale and we had no coupons.Stopped in the grooming area to find out about having our Newfoundland puppy groomed and was very impressed by the man who was there. He was knowledgeable and made us feel at ease with bringing our boy there unlike PetSmart when we brought him there. He seemed to understand the way patience needed to groom a puppy who is 120 lbs. PetSmart couldn’t handle him at 50 lbs and acted like they had never seen a puppy this size. He’s a sweet boy just very big and acts like a puppy.

The staff of the Manchester, CT store were so AWESOME to me. They helped answer my questions regarding fish and food for my finicky adult Chihuahua. They encouraged me to joint your fish discount club. I do wish you had a combined cat/dog club as I have both.

Editing my review and basing it on non-existent cases of Fancy Feast Oceanfish that’s never available.I had to buy cans at 88 cents each and there was too much “pate,” sitting there unsold. I came back again today and still, NO ocean fish in a case and I’m getting no discounts even with emailed $15.00 off.Why send me an email that gets me 0?I’m not buying cat food there anymore.I put 24 cans together of salmon, tuna, and trout and they wouldn’t charge me the “case,” price. There’s always an excuse even after they promised a truck was arriving last week.Out of stock cat food isn’t appealing to me, especially when it’s advertised.Bye-Rye was 💯 helpful from the second I arrived. I flashed a photo in my phone of the item, and followed her to the aisle.Then she opened a register so I didn’t wait. Opened a profile at the register and received a discount.Donated to animals too.She’s awesome and PETCO should hang onto her like a life preserver .Thank you Rye! Happy holidays!

Brought my shorkie here to get groomed and his nails cut picked him up to his face and tail only trimmed hair cut choppy and this is a (puppy cut),nails not cut at all but they charged me full price $85 WILLL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. The groomer was terrible and very blah when I walked in was not even greeted properly.will be going to a local groomer.

I have a little chi rescue who had issues with separation, toenail cutting and bathing. In the two years that I have been going to Petco they helped to resolve these issues gently and compassionately. Yesterday she had her first full grooming and bath. The girl with the nose ring is the best. She’s very knowledgeable and helpful in making informed decisions for my various types of animals including my retriever, fish, and lizard. Would highly recommend this Petco due to her superior service. It’s employees like this that make me come back. Only complaint, parking is weird.

I look online before leaving work to see if things are in stock. Every time it says it's available, I get there 15 minutes later it's never in stock. GREAT way to provide customer service. Take the time to drive the 5 minutes and go to Petsmart, where things are available and the people are pleasant.

I shop at the Petco in Manchester on a regular basis. We have a dog, two cats and are part of a cat fostering network so our pet needs are relatively high. Today I had the pleasure of working with John, a manager at this location, and he was very professional and went above and beyond to help me get what I needed. The cashier Sophie also treated me very nicely, helped me find what I needed and cashed me out without incident. I highly recommend this location and will continue to shop here.Thank you John and Sophie for taking great care of me today.

I would like to start off by saying normally I have wonderful experiences at the PetCo in Manchester, CT. Today though was not one of those experiences. The way I was treated today was awful and extremely unprofessional. At checkout there was an issue where my card, that is perfectly active and functional, was declining. This also happened to the couple ahead of us, who ended up having to pay cash. The cashier called the Manager, named John, for us to see what the issue is. He was instantly rude to both us and the cashier, acting as though the issue was our fault.He disregarded the cashier telling him this had also happened to the previous couple. Instead he very rudely asked. "Are you SURE your card actually works?" In an accusing tone. We assured him the card worked and that we had just used it at another store. He rolled his eyes at us and said the only thing he can do is restart the register. He then proceeded to go onto a different register and ring out other customers, leaving us standing there while the register restarted, for a very long time. He even took customers that walked up after we had been waiting, leaving us standing there. After around 20-30 minutes of just standing there waiting for the register he finally said "I guess I can try ringing you out over here, see if it works." He then rung us out and our card went through no problem on a different register.He did not apologize for making us wait or for being rude, just handed us our receipt and said have a good day. I have not seen this manager at this location before and sincerely hope I do not in the future, that was beyond unprofessional to just leave us standing there and to be so rude and accusatory, as if this situation was somehow our fault. I hope his attitude is dealt with or he is moved to a section he does not deal with customers because that OBVIOUSLY is not his strong suit.

Groomers are always so caring to my dog and do an amazing job with whatever I bring her in for. She loves to go there, gets so excited when we get to the light to turn into the parking lot. All staff there are friendly and help you when needed. Store is always clean, neat, and stocked well.

I made an appointment with them to vaccinate my dog, got an email, text and all confirming my appointment. On my way over there I call to once again let them know I’m on my way, they state they have NO appointment made for me, I get there the line is at the door. What’s the point of making an appointment if #1 they don’t put you on the schedule & #2 it’s a first come first serve type of thing! Even with the appointment you have to wait for whoever is in front of you that just arrived no appointment get seen first like what ????

Petco in Manchester has moved to the old location of the pool place, down the hill from their old spot near Walmart. I picked up a set of treat toy refills for our dog. The web price for local pickup was $0.50 lower than posted in the store. At checkout, the worker gave me the markdown price.
