Robert's Food Center is a clean and convenient grocery store just a little bit north of the 95 Interstate in a more rural area of Connecticut.The selection of foods was varied, and the layout of the store made it easy to find things. Parking was available and there were enough cashiers to get people in and out of the store fast.

The employees are very nice.This store has a great deal of frozen prepared foods. If that's what you need, this is a grocery store for you.We've found their produce lacking in quality. Much of the fruit and veggies we've brought home have been poor flavor or rot quickly.I assume that since they are a little store they don't have the buying power or contacts that the larger grocery chains have?Due to this, the same tomato brand bought at another grocery store chain won't be as nice as Robert's. We found it strange, but to be true just the same.The tomato analogy can be applied to various other produce options.On the other hand, Robert's meat department is very good. And the pre-cooked meals which get made in their store kitchen are pretty good as well.Robert's has a monopoly in that area of Madison as there are no other grocery stores around. So know what you're going there for.If you like good quality meats with butchers available to help, go here.If you like a higher quality fruit/vegetables, go elsewhere.If you want a large selection of frozen pizza, snack foods etc, go to Robert's.We were surprised at how big the frozen pizza section was. Looks like Robert's customers want frozen prepared products as there are so many on display.Oh, one other thing. The music that is played on their loudspeakers while you shop for your food, is terrible!I can handle bad music at times. However, playing really bad music loudly is an issue.Makes the shopping experience hard.We have spoken to other people about the music and the feeling seems to be mutual. Other people have the same issue with the choice of music.Robert's is a place to shop if you live in the area and don't want to drive very far for your food.3 stars is all we can give Robert's.

I shop at Roberts all the time! Excellent, take out meals, hot and fresh. You'll never have to cook! Robert's sells Tillamook ice cream. Need I say more? : )

I grew up in NYC, been in CT five years. This is the cleanest, best stocked, nicest employees in tru state are. Best grocery store I ever been to in my 53 years.! Love it.

Pluses.Quick checkouts,, decent meats., friendly employees.Minuses.Expensive. Milk is almost double Aldi prices.Pie prices have almost doubled since covid.

It's not as big as some of the other supermarkets, but the frozen meal section and prepared fried chicken are very good. The meat department is excellent.

Even though this may be as small time grocery store the prices do not match because they are a bit high. Also it is a bit confusing on where the entrance is for this store and the space within the store itself is very difficult to move around within it.

Think of this as a very upscale convenience store. It's not nearly as big as a traditional grocery store, but there's not much in the immediate area in terms of competition. As such, the prices are sky high, far above what you'd pay at even Stop & Shop or Big Y, which are usually on higher end of the price spectrum for grocery stores.Great place to go in a pinch, but you might need to take out a HELOC on your home to shop here regularly.

Top notch service, food and quality. Love Roberts Food Center. Have been going here for over 15 years. Exceptional service, friendly staff. High quality produce and meat. Knowledgeable staff. Extremely well run. Customer service is exceptional to the point where they go out of there way to make sure you are 100% taken care of in the best possible way their able to serve you. Highly highly recommend. If you are looking for something they don't carry they will go out of their way to special order for you. So pleased to see them expanding in our home state CT to Glastonbury. Congratulations

I'm a regular at Robert's and i think this store is a cut above the rest. The store is clean, well laid out and the staff is very friendly and attentive to customers. The hot prepared foods are second to none, at are often as good as a five-star restaurant and always delicious. The deli is clean and the prepared salads there are made with delicious, healthy dressings and not with the inferior dressings (think Wish-Bone, Kraft type dressings) like Big Y uses on their salads. The seafood section usually has a wonderful variety and is clean. Robert's understands that consumers want to eat healthy foods and they really go out of their way to provide the community with the very best.

Its getting so you can't shop here. Everyone knows prices are up but this is off the charts. Its a complete rip-off. 8.99 for a bag of red potatoes, $1.67 for a lime,$6.99 for eggs, $5.29 for milk. These same exact items are $3.99,$.79,$3.99,$4.19 down the street. Thats a difference of over $10 on $23 worth of groceries. No thanks

So many things I love about this store. Fresh, local produce when in season. Good quality meats and deli. I was exceptionally happy with Murray's turkey this year. Would definitely buy it again. The staff are friendly and helpful.

I love their food they have what big stores don’t theres always someone to help you. Love their meat department butcher right there to help you. I was looking for a certain meat for my sons birthday and the butcher showed me another meat came out perfect. Summer time only place we get our steaks their the best. Nice to go into a store that is friendly and nice and has a butcher. Bakery too the strawberry layered loaf covered with whipped cream or lemon so good..

This place is falling apart, shelves are often low on product, which is most likely because they cannot keep staff. Staff members I saw for years have left over and over. Kids I saw running around working hard everyday over the past few years are gone, including the younger manager I saw almost everyday in the store along with multiple staff members in the front of the store and grocery department. Assuming ownership is to blame.

I know that there is no other store aroundTo go grocery shopping at and it's in Madison does not give the right to be so pricey. Oreos over cost 6 dollars .?! Come on man!! In line I had a lady pay over 150 dollars for a bag of groceries. What???? Take the trip go to Big Y local businesses are sold their. Robert's food ?The price for convenience....No thanks..

Check the expiration dates! I have bought so much expired or nearly expired food from Roberts when I don't check the dates in-store. Which is in-line with their entire produce department where the food will spoil very quickly compared to other stores and farmer's markets. Their prices are definitely higher being a local business, but some prices are downright unreasonable. Employee morale seems low, it's a toss-up whether you will get friendly service. Some employees manage to keep a smile on their face. Also, it is nearly impossible to get service at the USPS desk during inside Roberts as they seem to have let their full-time employee go. I try to support local businesses, but if Roberts weren't less than a mile from my home, I would likely not seek it out.

It's a typical small town grocery store. Not the kind of place where you can fully stock your kitchen, but a fantastic deli, meat, prepared food, and produce section. Great place for picking up a few things quick to complete a meal. I can get in and out in a fraction of the time of going to a larger "chain" grocery store, and always get service with a smile.

Very nice meat, deli and fresh food department. Everything else was 20 -30% above price. Had to get a Roberts card to get the discount prices. Please, if someone is not local and is spending 240 bucks, give them the discounted prices. I held up the line to get a card I will probably use once.

My husband and I LOVE Roberts grocery store.... We shop there atleast 4 days a week and sometimes we decide to spend our day off by going there and getting there already made foods which are more delightful than life itself. after a beautifully hard day at work there's nothing better to going to Roberts and get in their chicken or one of their $8 or 2 for $16 plate of homemade food and going home and just being able to sit and enjoy each other and eat the best food if it isn't mine thank you Robert will love you forever

They have an amazing deli area, prepared foods, some of the best fresh meat in the area, but the prices can be high . Staff if very friendly and accommodating. Overall a great shopping experience. Just be prepared to pay more for what you get .

First time I went into a market where everyone was nice to talk to & it was very clean & neat on the shelves & there was a sushi station with different rolls made right in front of you. Pretty cool I thought. I would definitely give it a shot & I will be back for sure
