My husband picked up some breakfast snacks and came home with this blueberry breakfast bar. It is awful. The "crumble" on top is so dry and tasteless, it feels like glue in your mouth. There a grainy, gritty texture to the blueberry filling and although you can see it's blueberry- it does not taste of blueberry. So disappointed that a high end bakery would offer such a thing.

What a gem of a spot! We just enjoyed and amazing brunch ... the Cubano Benedict was spectacular and the homemade gluten-free bread was an added delight. We also shared a Buddha Bowl which was spot on and paired with a delicious dressing. The staff and owner were awesome. This was our first visit but it certainly won't be our last. Great find.Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free

Sophie's is my favorite place in Kent. I have been a long time "regular" since the store opened and they have never disappointed me. They always go above and beyond in making me feel "at home" at Sophie's. The food is great, and brunch at Sophie's is always the highlight of my weekend. Sophie is also a fantastic baker and my go-to for any custom orders.

I held a Bachelorette party nearby in Kent and our party came here the morning after for brunch. They were incredibly accommodating. They gave us a private room, baked a special cake and even offered 6 new vegan specials they've been trying out for our 2 vegan members. We had a great experience here, the food and service was just so top notch, it rounded out the party in a really special wayVegetarian options: They accommodated our group with many vegan specials

Had the most delicious lunch at Sophie's today. Couldn't decide between two of the specials; the gumbo and the chicken with dumplings so we ordered one of each -- they were both absolutely amazing! They rightfully take pride in everything they prepare and the amount of talent in each dish was outstanding. And they could not have made us feel more welcome. What a find! We will most definitely be regulars at Sophie's from now on :-)

Missed out on lunch, but the pastries were quite tasty. Will try to get here early next time to try the food.Update: went two more times and it's hit or miss. I enjoyed the fried chicken sandwich but I wished there was more meat. The potato wedges were mid, bland and soggy. Not great for $27. I liked the egg and cheese sandwich. I also wish there were more beef products as I don't eat pork for religious reasons.

Stopped by for brunch on a Sunday and had a fabulous breakfast slider. They forgot the sausage gravy, but whipped up a fresh batch after I let them know. Everything was fresh and tasty, and the service was good. I will definitely be back.Parking: Parking lot in front

Vegan review:Came to here after renting an airbnb in Kent for a bachelorette party. We reached out to Sophie's ahead of time because we had a few vegans in our party (myself included), and were looking for somewhere with a few options for them. They were super pleasant and responsive to our questions, and told us they could make us a custom cake for the occasion (we ordered a coffee cake, which was already vegan). They gave us a private room for our party, and allowed us to bring champagne for mimosas. Not only did they have vegan options, but they had a special menu with several additional vegan specials made up and printed out for us! We got the vegan blueberry French toast (awesome), the vegan harissa toast (wow), and the vegan tofu sunrise wrap (honestly so good- so many non-vegan places don't know how to actually use spices to make the tofu TASTE like something, but Sophie's knows their stuff!) they also had a house-made vegan ranch dressing that was the best dressing I've ever had??The non vegans got pancakes, eggs Benedict etc (all the classics) and we had rave reviews all around. Our servers were wonderful. Everyone LOVED the coffee cake, including the non vegans, who couldn't tell the difference. It was so moist and decadent. Coffee was really good. They had some rad looking pastries in the case (several vegan!). Also, not sure if I'm just traumatized by living in NYC, but the prices were GREAT- super affordable. We will definitely go out of our way to make a stop back in the area soon to head back to Sophie's. Can't recommend them enough, it was the perfect end to our weekend.Dietary restrictions: Amazing vegan options!

The girl at the counter was super friendly and helpful. However, we tried the gluten free blueberry muffin and raspberry buckle and they were awful. Strong taste of baking soda perhaps? They left a bitter, terrible aftertaste in the mouth.

Sophie's has quickly become one of my favorite spots to frequent in Kent, CT. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff is also amiable. You can tell that the team enjoys their craft, enjoys making incredible food and that making customers happy is their main priority.I encourage you to try something new and not to shy away from anything listed as 'Gluten-Free.' Just because you've had poor experiences elsewhere doesn't mean you should pass up the opportunity to give Sophie a chance.

The food here is phenomenal! The latkes, the key lime crepes, and the butterfly iced tea-lemondade were delicious! The staff was all super friendly and accommodating. Will definitely have to come back again, because there were so many things on the menu that sounded delicious....although I don't think I could have gone wrong with any of their selections, it was difficult only picking a couple of dishes to try!

Sophie's is a delightful restaurant and bakery! Staff members are friendly and efficient, the environment is welcoming, and the food is delicious. We enjoyed our brunch and plan to come back the next time we are in the area. The zucchini latkes were surprisingly light and flavorful: delicious crunch on the outside with a soft inside. The shrimp and grits were tasty, especially with Pedro's hot sauce (you'll want to take it home with you, or purchase more containers of it to go). The coffee servings were generous. We got a bunch of baked goods to take home. Chef Pedro personally came over to our table to ask how our food was. There is plenty of indoor seating, including an additional room off the main entrance. The bathroom is clean and well-stocked.Driving tip: We missed the entrance the first time we drove by, so take note that the entrance is by Cozzy's Pizza, and then you drive around the U shape to the left.

Very cute place at my favorite hiking location! The staff is really nice, very friendly. The salmon potato latkes was absolutely delicious. The key lime crepe was a perfect way to end our big feast :) I hope to come back soon!

This is my first time in Kent CT, wanted to grab a quick bite to eat and stumbled upon Sophie's. Walking in, I had employees greet me and made me feel welcome. The display cases where full of delicious baked goods and the cases themselves were extremely clean as well as the table area as well. I tried a vegan banana bread and a banana bread chocolate chip muffin which were both excellent. I ordered a coffee as well which came out cold at first but the establishment replaced my coffee at no charge and no questions asked, apologizing for it. Thank you to the employees, Olivia and Ivan for making my first experience here, a great one.

Sophie and her lovely mom Jerry conspire to provide excellent locally sourced ingredients, old and new school recipes and delightful service resulting in a deliciously unique dining experience.I had the remarkable beef pot roast with barley which was the best I've ever had even better than my Italian mother used to make. Jerry detecting my Italian heritage in conversation and offered me a taste of her homemade vegan pesto sauce which I would challenge anyone to put up against pesto with real Parmesan cheese and pick which is which. I couldn't tell and in fact I liked Sophia's better!Lots of vegan choices and lots of regular recipes too, breakfast all day, and did I mention they have a full bakery with plenty of delicious looking baked goods to choose from as well!Reasonably priced, outstanding food, excellent service.I highly recommend Sophie's!Tell him Joe from New Haven sent you!Closed on Tuesdays

Welcoming staff and two charming dining rooms with a variety of art made my visit even more special! I had iced coffee and the potato latkes with smoked salmon, and I went home with a bag of baked goods that I cannot wait to try (including a potato knish, an apple snickerdoodle muffin, and others). Can't wait to visit again.

What a beautiful little spot! Unbelievable staff, incredible food! Sophie and Pedro are absolute legends! Quality food! Was an excellent little brunch after a 10 mile hike at Macedonia State Park; just down the road. Will come again, especially once they get dinner service up and running. Also their bakery is incredible. The Puerto Rican bread pudding is incredible!

Spent a casual lunch here. Three of us shared three cups of different soups, two side salads and one Draz sandwich. Every one was spot on delicious. Dessert was the blackberry coffee cake, apple pie and one oatmeal raisin cookie. Total YUM fest. Sophie was the most amazing host/owner. We live about 30 min away, and the drive is gorgeous. See you there!

Fantastic bakery with good bagles. When I stopped here, the music playing in the store was fantastic, the service was superb, and the selection of goods available was amazing. I don't live close by, but if I did, I would stop in every morning.Parking: Shared parking lot with other businesses

Really tasty spot. Everything (baked goods, breads, bagels) is handmade in house and the eggs are farm fresh. We don't live too close but when we are in the area we like to stop and grab a few things to take home with us. Had a tasty egg, soyrizo, and cheese bagel the other day and it was delicious. The whoopie pies are awesome, too (tried a chocolate and raspberry, and the pumpkin). Probably can't go wrong with anything, here!

We had a long wait as they had to make more batter for the crepes, but it was worth the delay. The crepes were light and suited our planned hiking around the area.
