I originally ordered online from them and had a bad experience. Two things I'd ordered and paid for weren't in stock and hadn't been in stock for weeks. When they asked me if I'd accept an alternative, I picked one; but when it was delivered they'd given me a different alternative than the one I picked.But recently I went in-store with my puppy and my friends with their puppies and we had a great time! They were extremely friendly and helpful at the counter. So maybe I'll just purchase in-store from now on.

While having recently discovered H&H I thought I was going to like it. It has a much nicer feel than the big box store. But the staff here is the definition of unfriendly. Did not even look up when my wife and I approached the counter. My wife asked a question, and you would have thought the clerk was in pain.

I’ve been using the self dog wash for years. I’ve noticed lately the room with the tub needs a good cleaning. The floors and walls are dirty, the vent on the ceiling is completely covered with dog fur and the wash tub is coming apart near the plastic door. It definitely needs some sprucing up! On a good note, the store is well stocked and the staff are very nice.

I can’t speak to the actual grooming but 0 stars for attitude. My dog came to get groomed and I let the receptionist know that he does not do well with other large dogs. The staff at the groomer tried to put him in a temporary corral as opposed to a crate. I spoke up that this didn’t seem safe for my dog because he could climb over or jump out and that I’d prefer him to be crated so he’s safe from other dogs. Both the staff and the owner treated me like I was being unreasonable or some kind of jerk for not consenting for him to be kept in such a way. When the customer behind me asked what was taking so long I said I was waiting for them to have a crate for him bc he wouldn’t be secure in what they suggested, the owner came out to tell me to stop talking bad about her employees. I’m not really sure if this was an off day for them or something but it was an incredibly negative interpersonal interaction and I won’t be going back to this groomer. I also watched 2 dogs escape out the back door while I waited 10 mins to be checked in. Overall a very negative experience and a huge waste of time.

Called to see if they had raw frozen pork cat food, Primal. She said they gad 1 bag left. She held it for me to pick up yhe next day. I live 40 minutes away from horse and hound. It's very difficult for me to find this food. I drive there and purchased other things. The food was $20.00 and the rest I purchased when I got there. When I got home I placed it in the freezer. When it came time to feed my kitten I noticed the expiration date was 7/2022. I called and was told it must have gotten mixed-up with the other freezer. It was the last bag. They wouldn't get anymore in until Thursday. I told her to just refund my purchase. She said I needed to bring the bag in and my receipt with the card to get a refund. I told her I guess I have no choice. I will bring it back one day this week but it will be the First and LAST TIME I will be a customer at the store. She said ok. They don't care about animals. They have no business owning a pet store. I will be notifying Primal Foods. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU BUY FROM THEM.

I brought my Lab mix in to be groomed by Valley Dog Grooming, the in-house grooming service. They did such a wonderful job! Her nails were trimmed better than ever before. Her coat was so shiny and soft! And somehow she stayed feeling and smelling clean for a long time! I will definitely bring her back there and I very highly recommend this place!

Absolutely love this store but I feel like the staff makes me feel like I don’t belong there. I ask questions and make cute comments about the corgi behind the counter and get no response and a dirty look. My mother actually makes me go for her because she feels so uncomfortable when she walks in there. I’ve heard a lot of people agree with us and will no longer give business because of this. I was a frequent customer but I think todays visit was my last. So unfortunate because I love the items in the store and supporting local businesses but I refuse to be treated poorly EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Great local pet store. More responsive than the chain stores, nice staff, good selection. There is also a DIY dog wash. Fonally, for those of us who own doodles or other dogs that need grooming, the best groomer in CT operates through the store. I cannot recommend Lisa enough: she is a fantastic groomer.

I’m nicely surprised to find excellent raw dog food options here today. I usually drive 45 mins from my home in Canton to get my raw dog food and healthy pet treats. Super excited to find this place which is much closer to me. The merchandise is competitively priced and product selection is very well thought out.

Really like this store… we just got a new puppy and we used to get our dogs food from Chewy, but they were out of the food our puppy needs. We found it near by at Horses & Hounds, CHEAPER too! They are very nice and full of suggestions if you need them. Glad we found them.

Staff is beyond friendly and helpful. Has most major brands of food and supplies in stock. Wont be as cheap as Chewy, but I would MUCH RATHER support a local business by paying a couple bucks more. Clean inside, dog wash, classes for pets training and a knowledgeable staff.

One of the few stores locally that carries the feed for my horse (Proelite). A super well-stocked, well-laid out store with super friendly and helpful staff. I had emailed them late one evening asking if they happened to carry my feed in stock- I had struck out elsewhere, and Brianna responded first thing the next morning. I recommend them for all your pet needs, feeds, and supplies!

I have been shopping here since the store opened. They always have what I need. Most of the time customer service is fine. Sometimes I walk in and no one greets me and I almost feel unwelcome. There is a woman who is very unfriendly and I think she's the owner. I feel like all they want is my money. It really makes a difference to be greeted when you walk in the door. If there was another store that carries the brand of dog food I feed, I would shop there. I only buy my dog food there, I buy all my supplies elsewhere. I support local businesses that treat me well.

I went in because I had a coupon for 2 free cans of catfood. I easily found the product. The store was easy to shop, nicely organised, and clean. I also bought a cat toy. The checkout associate was friendly and took my coupon with no problem. She also signed me up for a store account. Later that day I received an email for $5 off my next purchase, which was appreciated.

I do all my shopping at horses and hounds. I drive all the way from Enfield. My dog is always welcome and we don’t have any complaints. She loves the food that I get her. They have the best raw foods I trust them completely with their recommendations for dog food. It’s a top notch establishment!

Please note Cat grooming at Valley dog is very pricey! For 1 cat a Persian with severe mats came to $225.00: not included tax & gratuity.My other Persian was scheduled for a groom with Valley dogs. I called and left a message a few times to confirm the time. I haven't heard back? The lack of communication is very poor.I went elsewhere to Creative clips in Suffield the customer service was great! And overall, The price was much more reasonable at a flat rate at $80 for a groom (Lion cut) and additional fee for severe matting. The overall cost $90.00 plus a tip.

I looooove horses and hounds. I feel like I’m there sometimes weekly. Their personable employees and vast selection have all been very impressive. Their local delivery options have been a lifesaver since I broke my foot and have chickens, dogs and a cat to care for! Always reliable and timely. The Nutrina chicken feed is priced right and is always quality. I have happy hens!

A truly fantastic pet shop. Great selection of pretty much everything you would want for your pet, very roomy isles and very helpful staff. Not your usual chain pet store, this place is actually nicely decorated, inviting and warm. In reading other reviews, the individual stating that the "woman/owner" acts crabby and too important... I can assure you that there is nothing further from the truth. She is a very kind and caring person, I have talked to her several times (BTW, her name is Sue) and I have been given great advice every single time. Often people respond to you in the same way you treat them...

This is my go to location for wild bird seed. They have what I want; sunflower seeds, cracked corn, and nyjer. While they have lots of stuff for other kinds of critters, I do not need them.The staff is always pleasant and helpful.The prices may be very slightly higher than what I might pay elsewhere, but that easily offsets the drudgery and mileage costs of going elsewhere.A minor complaint is the occasional rearrangement of products. The vast majority of stores do it; but it can be frustrating for a customer who stops in once every 6 weeks.

This place rocks! The vet gave our tiny dog food that was literally killing her over time (stay away from Hillz Z/D it kills animals) . Horses and Hounds had a solution that has been saving her day by day. She's getting better!! We have her on Duck Rawbble and nothing else. The staff is knowledgeable, kind, loves animals and their selection is fantastic. Thanks Horses n Hounds!
