This state park is ok. Our party was not a fan of this swimming lake to come back.Out of state vehicle $22When the park reaches its max capacity, no one is allowed to enter.Cons:1. Restrooms are not clean2. Floaters are not allowed not even for small children. Children have to wear a vest or lifejacket, other devices are not permitted in the water.3. You are not allowed to play ball in the water.4. You are not allowed to open a portable changer since the restrooms were disgusting and we didn't want to change in there.5. They don't have a phone number, so you can find phone numbers on the maps app or CT state park website but no one will answer that phone.6. The bathroom is far from the front picnic areas.7. You have to carry your garbage out where the dumpsters are (dumpsters are notbfar from the picnic area depending where you at) (state park employees pick up the garbage in bags in other state parks)Pros:1. The water is clear, you can even see little harmless fishes swimming.2. There are lifeguards on the site.3. They don't allow loud music which is nice to respect everyone's space and choice of music.4. The water is not deep, so kids are safe to swim.5. The swimming area has a nice size, it is not small ( I've seen smaller ones) and it's not big (I've seen bigger ones) , it is OK.Overall: Our party didnt like all these restrictions that made no sense.Three stars because the swimming area is beautiful. Look at a few photos.Restrooms: Restrooms are a minus for this state park. They should keep restrooms clean since they are already charging the entrance to the swimming area.Picnic area: The picnic area has a table chained to the ground so in case you want to move it, you can't.

Lake is awesome. fishing is great. I would rate that a 5. only not positive thing is once it warms up the place is a mad house loads of people most of whom in my opinion don't act right. As in, I wouldn't want my kids there.

This was a great day for my wife and I. Although the beach area was closed to swimming during to the pandemic, we were able to swim off shore with our kayaks. It's a beautiful lake and the scenery is amazing. Theres friendly people even including the local Turkey Vultures who just seem to like to be part of the crowd hanging out. Theres a push off docking area and grills to cook on with picnic tables and plenty of room to lay out and relax. Make sure before you swim though to check the website to see if the algae conditions are up to safe standards.

Excellent place. Less crowded. Beautiful water. So far best place I have visited. Clean and wonderful park authority. It is accessible for everyone including handicaps. My father in law loved this place since he was able to roam around with a floating wheelchair (hopefully that's what it called). Cleanest public bathroom. Nice trail.

The park is pretty clean although there was some plastic and chicken bones on the beach. There was also some tangled up fishing line on a piece of driftwood I picked up.I didn't see any garbage barrels so take your garage with you but there was a vending machine with drinks at the ranger station which is next to the beach. There's a pier for fishing and a boat ramp for non motoraized boats. There's also a bathroom and picknic tables.Large parking spaces. There was also some dog poop someone neglected to pick up (this is my greatest pet peeve).

Very nice clean lake with it's size and the mountain scape surrounding the lake give me a lake George feel. It's now my second favorite lake to go boating . Love it

Beautiful and family friendly park that has a lakeside trail shared with the nearby Pootatuck state forest. When visited (August 2020) admission was free and swimming not allowed, but plenty of canoeing on the lake. A serene visit and a scenic hike.

Squantz Pond is a beautiful place on a nice day. It gets extremely crowded on weekends in the summer. Lots of people come in from out of town and state to spend the day. I prefer it more in the Fall. The views are great and there is some nice hiking on the west side of the pond. There is also a small boat ramp. Candlewood Lake gets all the attention but Squantz is nicer. The water is not full of weeds like Candlewood.

My favorite park since I was a little kid, I've been on the trails in the back about a million times. Beautiful sunny picnic days here are the best, plus its right next to a great pub 😁

I go there with my kayak to get exercise and relax on the water. There's picnic areas and a beach section and fishing is also available. There's trails for hiking also. It's a beautiful lake and a great place to take the family.

I went there just once to take some pictures and it's so beautiful. Definitely a good place to go with family and friends. But if you don't like crowded places then you should look for another place close by or go during a normal day. I went there on Memorial day and ... It was packed! The place in the pics is going up the hill right next to it.

Getting there can be difficult, the road can get blocked for no reason, and the entrance can be hard to find. After that, it's a perfect place for BBQs and picnics. The water isnt the best in some cases. There is a $22 parking fee of course, so be aware of that. They check for alchohol and such and can and will evict you if found with it, so do be careful. Theres places to fish and canoe, and a lovely view of the lake. Make sure you get there early, space can go fast.

I enjoyed this place so much that I got sick, I spent like 6 hours swimming in the pond and 3 cooking in one of the many BBQs grill that are around the place, this is a family park, no loud disgusting music, no drunk people disturbing the peace, this park is really beautiful and very clean.Restrooms: Men restroom are very clean.Dog-friendliness: No dogs are allowed because of the ducks, there are many.

A wonderful place to go kayaking. Very tranquil. The park does get crowded on weekends, so if you can go during the week it is so much better!
