I adore the technicians and the doctors at this facility. They are top notch!!! The staff is warm, kind, friendly, thorough and wonderful with my pets! They are patient and explain things extremely well. I am always grateful for their expertise and superb care of both my cat and dog. The time they take with evaluating my pets and explaining things thoroughly is greatly appreciated! I have been with Essex Veterinary Clinic for years with my various precious pets and I would never go anywhere else. I trust them implicitly and highly recommend their services!

The Drs at this vet are the best. They truly care for your pet, not all about the money. This is the first vet that doesn't put a muzzle on my dog. The vet actually sat on the floor until my dog relaxed. Couldn't believe it. The office is probably cleaner than my house. Can't say enough about this place. I have had a few vets and thus one is above and beyond. Definitely would and do refer people to this office.

I loved this vet until my pet passed away.It was a cold experience when I picked up my dog’s ashes.Even Chewy’s sent me flowers and a card after my family member passed away.My vet never called or acknowledged me and my family after our family member passed away. It was traumatic! Shame on you, Cheryl Brienza! My little girl deserved a follow up from YOU!

When we had to put our previous dog down in December after he lost his battle with cancer, we took him to Pieper vetinary on a Sunday morning.We had the tremendous good fortune of meeting Dr. Jennie Scudder at the Middletown location that day and she treated our dog Sarge like he was the most important creature on earth. She comforted him and us with her kindness and caring words and helped us all through a horrible time, ultimately easing his pain and suffering. She made a truly positive difference during a very traumatic time. Because of Dr. Scudder, we decided that when we were ready for a new dog, Pieper-Olson was the place to get their medical care. We now take our new puppy Traylor to the Pieper-Olson location in Essex. We are extremely impressed with the care and treatment and we are so happy with them. Dr. Scudder is not in Essex, but the providers and staff there are amazing and we are very pleased with our choice for vet care.I had an appt for 6 mos shots and follow up to a previous visit for parasites. I arrived just a few minutes late and my dog Traylor was taken in immediately and given his 6 mos shots. I was out of the office by 4:30p and received the specimen results from the vet by phone call the next day. Everyone was exceptionally pleasant and prompt. Great experience. Very prompt service and great staff and providers. We do not see Dr. Jenny Scudder in Essex, but she is an amazing person and she is the reason we insisted on Pieper/Olson for our new puppy's care.

The services provided by Dr. Reagan, Dr. Breanza and their Team have been outstanding. The same for all the doctors who healed Alano when he spent 4 days at the Pieper-Olson hospital. While the provision of services was prompt in all local clinics, I cannot say the same for the Pieper-Olson hospital: waiting for 4-5 hours in the parking lot, for 7-8 hours to just start hydrating Alano, for variable amounts of hours to be able to speak with a vet for updates, was a harrowing experience. I hope Pieper-Olson hospital will consider strengthening its capacity by hiring enough vets/personnel to provide a faster service and align its excellent care with a for now seriously lacking performance in terms of time and availability. Excellent level of care and outstanding kindness.

What a fantastic staff. I have been going to Pieper in Middletown and this is one of their sites, but this location is smaller and it was nice to feel less like a number and more like extended family. The who staff was super patient and was very informative. Doctor easily spent 10 minutes with us going over every little detail and wasn't annoyed in any capacity with the questions I had about our new puppy. Cannot recommend them enough!

I have been to the Piper vet in Middle town , loved them, I've been to the Piper emergency clinic in Madison and for an emergency the cost was affordable. And my dog walked out of the Middletown vet and the emergency vet a VERY happy dog, compared to other vets where they are rushing for you to take your pet and they don't have to answer any questions. That was just my experience, the Essex vet is convenient but sometimes you have to go the extra mile. I have a pretty huge family and we all love animals. I will ask a couple of family members what their thoughts are , and go from there. I understand the covid 19 have changed our lives but we are still the same person and the attitude shouldn't change. Thank you

The vets major concern was money. I brought in my one year old family pet with all her records of up to date vaccinations. We had a $6o dollar heartworm test , that came back negative, so we could continue her heartgaurd without interruption, and the vet would not approve it. She said she also needed to give her a full exam in order to approve the prescription. It's all about the $$$ with NO regard for the health of my pet. The vet techs who tested her were lovely, however.

This place has been amazing in the care of our dog. From responding immediately from digestion of poison to the annoyance of our dog not like being touched. Great people. They once were an emergency facility open 24 hours but recently change course and don't offer that service. It was a selling point for us but this departure hasn't deterred up from continuing to use them.

Worst ever !!!!!!! I paid him total of about $600 in the last 2 years to find out what was wrong with my dog suppose a test here and there and both times I got the same answer oh well we just don't know I could have taken $600 and flushed it down the toilet and got the same reaction no answer and no more $600. I also had an account set up with the office in Middletown to make monthly payments and everything was going along fine my bill was down to $120 I pay every month and when I went in yesterday to have my dog looked at again (which I probably wouldn't have had any answers either on that) they called it my car and said they won't even see him unless I pay the $120 I was going to make up my monthly payment yesterday like I always have and they spring that on me I have made my last trip to them !!!!!!

Dog a life long patient in serious distressAsked if I could bring her over, told no appointments available for 7 days. Couldn't take 2 minutes of their time to take a look? Been there scores of times, cruelty to animals lately. Took distressed dog to another vet who saw her right away. Will never use their place again, failed us miserably in a time of need

I absolutely highly recommend this veterinary clinic, which is a part of Pieper Olson in Middletown. LOVE the doctors + support staff, both medical + administrative — as they are extremely professional, kind + knowledgeable.Also love the 24-hr emergency ability, altho off-hours–clinic is run by different organization & I suppose the communications between the two could be better.. the one time that I needed ER care for my dog, I called on a Friday at 5:45p -- just 15 mins prior to the end of the normal work week for regular office staff -- so it was suggested that I call back at 6p, which I did. I was then told by an answering service that oncall Dr was expected to arrive any minute + would be left a message to return my call. I waited another hour+ — until my dog literally stroked or had heart attack and was in major distress. I called again to update + inquire, and was told the Dr JUST arrived, so I loaded sweet pup into my car.. but, unfortunately, she was already gone by the time I arrived 4 mins later :(She was an old rescue pup, so she lived a luxurious life in the end, to the end. To place blame on any person or organization would not be proactive, tho I do wish the events of that sad evening had gone down differently. That said, accidents happen, nobody's perfect & I do not judge or wish to be judged.Overall, great vet clinic, vet drs + office staff, so I highly recommend.

We live in Taftville, CT. Late yesterday afternoon upon arriving home, we found our 11 1/2 year old chocolate Labrador in distress. He had stopped eating last Sunday and was having difficulty walking yesterday. We didn't know what to do and knew in our hearts he wasn't going to make it through the night. We called Veterinary Emergency Treatment Services in Montville and found out that they are no longer there. My Aunt located you and came to pick us up to bring Liam to you. We put him on his favorite blanket and carried him out to my Aunt's car. It was the hardest thing we've ever had to do. I wasn't able to go but my husband was with him as you helped him cross the Rainbow Bridge. While it hurts so very much, I want to thank you for being there for us. We know he isn't suffering any more.

I have been going to Essex vet for over 15 years and they have always taken get care of my dog and if there is something they can't handle or a test they can't do they send you up to there main hospital to have it done.
