In the charming downtown of Essex, CT is a little coffee shop located across the street from the historic Griswold Inn.The coffee quality is exceptional here. With beans from local coffee roasters you really can’t ask for more.The staff are very accommodating, and the cafe clean.This spot is truly a hidden gem if you haven’t discovered it yet, I’d recommend moving it to the top of your list!

Great coffee (I got the dark roast) and hot chocolate, amazing village vibe and colonial architecture. Essex is great in general and worth a trip.Parking: There is a public parking lot up the street to the west.

Couldn’t wait to try this sweet looking place.The man who waited on us couldn’t be colder. He was unaccommodating and very unfriendly.Anything we asked him, he gave us one word answers, we were on our own. The coffee was decent, and the cake that they have shipped in, was subpar.

Comfortable, small shop on the main street in historic Essex. Coffee from the carafe, 2$, very good deal. Lemon cake was awesome. Custom coffees are available as well. Only 5 or 6 tables inside. Parking easy on the street.Definitely recommend for a stop while walking around the very old town.

It is an absolute pleasure to visit this coffee shop. When I order a latte they stir by hand (don't see that too often). They pull excellent flavorful shots and the staff is super friendly. Great experience everytime. If you are visiting downtown Essex stop in, you won't be disappointed!Parking: Go past the coffee shop and pull into the parking lot on your left if the street parking isn't available.

On a blustery day, a warm mudslide latte did wonders for the chill in the air. Additionally for the taste buds! Great place to pick up a unique pastry and drink if you're in the area. Friendly and smiling is all we saw there. Hope to be back by there some time soon.

This is a 30-minute drive from my place, but it's worth it every single time. Great coffee, cool historic building, friendly and attentive service, peaceful environment and AMAZING cheese bagels. I got the lemon poppy seed cake last time and it was the best one I've ever had in a coffeeshop (not too many seeds, lemony enough, super moist, nice color).

This place is great! It has a very low key vibe with a rotation of nice art on the walls each month. Lots of locals frequent here and the coffee is good and the espresso nice and strong as I like it. They have a large selection of Rishi tea too. The yummy treats in the display all look so tempting. Chocolate dipped macaroons are the winner for me though! Great staff, they make the place warm and wonderful!

Today was my first time adventuring through Essex, CT. First off, I love the location of this coffee shop--a charming little town with friendly locals. The inside of the cafe is small yet comfortable and inviting; as though you're visiting a friend or reltiave's house. The staff are so kind and prompt with their service. I also love the selection of drinks and food available; from your standard (amazing) coffee/tea options to Avery's soda (including the "Totally Gross Soda" line) to the variety of fruit-based and chocolate desserts and pastries (some gluten-free options too!). It's the kind of atmosphere and town that makes you want to come back as a cozy Sunday (if not daily) tradition. I'd live in this town if I could! Just want to say thank you for the great food, coffee, and service. I will definitely be coming back and recommending this little gem to friends and family! :) :)

Such a cute little spot. They have plenty of choices for types of coffee and tea. To boot they have some sweets as well which is perfect to hit the spot after you have ate dinner in town and want to wall around to enjoy the beautiful scenery. I had the vanilla bean for tea and it was delish!

Great tasting coffee and tea. Their macaroons are fantastic and a must try! Customer service was great. The girls are very friendly and attentive.Entrance can be very busy and crowded... not very organized in that aspect.

The GF brownie was excellent, and GF lemon biscotti was the perfect compliment to a well-made Americano. Nice staff, small and cozy tables with outdoor seating available. I did not see a Wi-Fi network available, but I also didn't ask... So it's possible I just did not see one on the network list or any signage around the cafe.
